Based on the idea given above I got curious and didn't see any all in one help thread over here so decided to make one of these threads here
Before posting anything on XDA Please read this
Even if you do get your question(s) answered, please, do come back and follow this thread to educate yourself. You'll be surprised how much time and frustration it will save you in the future.
ASK ANY QUESTION HERE, drivers, rom, kernel, battery, stuck at boot logo etc...... You will either get an answer or will get pointed in the right direction.
I don't own this device so maybe I will not be able to answer all the questions asked here but someone monitoring may help
Please remember "Give respect to others, others will respect you back!" in simple words, No abuse towards newbies/noobs will be tolerated here!
My Idea is just to give one all in one help thread to all the device forums! Either I make it or some other member.... This is just to reduce the amount of threads made everyday in Q&A Section

Hi people, im new here coming from xperia 2011 series. I have the e 975 modell.
Wanna root and flash custom kernel and rom. Im a bit confused cuz there seems some other modells like e973 and for sprint theres a own section. What means Sprint? So can i flash a rom from every modell or only the ones for e975. And what about roms for nexus4, did they work?
Thanks in advance.

Carrier specific roms are different... If you flash those, RIL might now work...
Also E975 and E973 and others models are same as compared to specifications but are not the same when it comes to roms and kernels :/
About Nexus 4, You have to port roms from Nexus 4 on CM10.1 Base then they will work
Thanks. Found a tut. how to root and unlock b. with freegee ( is it really just an app, so simple?).
But found nothing about how to install recovery, is it too just an app? Sorry, maybe noobish but on sony recovery were built in kernel and kernel must be flashed with pc.

No, Recovery is not an app.. Its kinda Recovery Mode just like when Windows isn't starting on PC..

When you unlock with freegee TWRP recovery is automatically installed. I think you can also choose to install cwm though the app, not sure.
edit: cwm can of course be installed later if you wish, although twrp is perfectly fine. Remember that twrp and cwm nandroid backups are not compatible with each other!

Buddy i know what a recovery is, that wasn't the question.
But thanks to kiwinazgul now everything is clear.
Hey guys, just downloaded the latest RC of CM10.1
Question bout the kernel which is in the zip file, should i flash the boot.img without the zip?? or just flash the whole zip and it installs both, kernel and rom. On my old Sony device i had to extract the zip first to take out the boot.img and flashing it with a pc and then in recovery the rom itself. I know that now on my e975 i can flash kernel in recovery too.

Flash the whole zip! It installs both
Questions over Questions.. but thanks for help.
If i wanna go back to stock, i mean restore a nandroid backup, does it restore the stock kernel too?
And the last for today, does the CM10.1 Kernel supports overclocking?

Unfortunately, Stock CM Kernels don't have features like OC
and for your App Data you have to restore Data via Advance Restore...

Will the ThinkingBridge ROM install properly on a Canadian E973?
There's already an AOSP 4.2.1 ROM for E973 but ThinkingBridge is newer and much more updated.

I have an E973 on Telus. I read that the E970 AT&T Kernel will work on my phone, so can I use ROMs for the E970 or is the storage difference a deal breaker? Both models have 8 MP cameras so will the camera work?
What's the best custom rom+kernel combo for the e975. For best performance overall and gaming.
With stock i scored on Antutu Benchmark about 18000 ponts, with cm10.1 and kite kernel only 16000. I have a friend with a Nexus4 and he told me that he scored about 20000 points with paranoid rom and franco Kernel. I know that these Benchmarks are nothing important but i wanna show that my G has too that much of power
So which combo??

This is not my work I found it on Chinese forum and just sharing.
So i found this AOSP ROM on Chinese forum here:
http://bbs.gfan.com/forum.php?mod=v...=page=1&filter=typeid&typeid=8314&typeid=8314
It is for all versions F240LSK, E980/E988and F220
I have been using this for a week now, its super smooth and I have no problems.
Battery life is great over a day of normal use I can get around 4 Hours +/-15min of Screen on Time. (Morning Time Data/Evening Time Wifi)
Note: The ROM by default flashes F240 KERNEL, E980/E988 and F220 Kernels are provided and must be flashed after ROM flash.
ROM: http://pan.baidu.com/share/init?shareid=2851183795&uk=1392791443 pass:dlyu
E980/E988 Kernel: http://pan.baidu.com/s/1i3uTXQ1 pass:m8s9
F220 Kernel: http://pan.baidu.com/s/1i3uTXQ1 pass:m8s9
No need to flash baseband as the ROM won't flash any baseband by itself.
This can be used on any F240 model L/S/K and you just need to flash the ROM no need of flashing Kernel separately.
hi, i didn't see the 'USER' option on settings, is there a way to modify the 'User Switcher' on quick settings?
Can someone mirror the e980 kernel? I can not download it from that website without installing some kind of program.
Already have a thread for this in the General section. Unless you actually helped with the port to our phone I would not be providing this in the Development section either. You can find the official e980 release on the official MoKee website here
can you provide some screenshots and features of this rom?

I recently bought LG G Pad 8.3 V500.
I want to root it but not sure what to do?
1) Should I turn into Google play edition ? (Here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2553192)
OR
2) Should I install Cyanogenmod ROM (Here: http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?type=snapshot&device=v500)
Based on stability or usage / features - which one is better ?

Every cm or Aosp ROM is better than stock, although if you are on 4.4.2 and you flash an aosp ROM you will face some backlight issues that can be solve with AIC kernel,I suggest you to go back in stock 4.2.2 and then install Philz Recovery and root of course,I got problems with tarp, philz works great, right now I'm using Dirty Unicorns without any issues and the tablet feels much smoother, its your call

You are already in right place!!!is your tablet rooted?have you custom recovery?notice that is you root your tablet your warranty will be void!!
So if something goes wrong you will stay with a beautiful bricked tablet...
You must search before you will procide to this situation, for example, which model you got?eupore one or us carrier?
you can see that in settings on about tablet, then you will need the right tools and a computer to execute the commands,i recoment to to see some youtube videos before you will do anything and first of all make sure you will do a nandroid backup if something goes wrong.
Good luck!

Hey friend welcome to the forum!
I'm running Mahdi latest and last build.
And redKernel.
But you have to test all ROMs out and decide for yourself,
This ROM is better then that ROM talk is usually looked down upon here on XDA as every ROM developer spend alot of time on there ROM for the community.
Only advise I can give is test all ROMs and decide what one you like best
As far as Kernel you can go redKernel for CM AOSP ROMs.
Or
AIC for stock based (you can flash AIC for CM as well.)
But on stock ROM, AIC Kernel can overclock CPU and GPU slightly
Not trying to hijack the thread, but I've got my tablet currently on 4.4.2 (it's a v500 like op's) and I'm considering moving away from stock. However it seems that one of the downsides is that you lose the IR ability on the tablet. Is this correct? Are there other features that go missing when you move to a custom rom?

Yes, no IR function available in any customized ROM.
I need to use Skype. I tried CM and ACIP, they cannot run Skype properly. If anybody know a ROM that can run Skype properly, please let me know.

Dear Friends,
I am running my LG G3 on stock lollipop and I am willing to move to a custom ROM. I learnt that there are some ROMs that have completely removed all/most LG unique features like quick circle view, camera, knock on code etc whilst there are ROMs that have preserved them.
Can you please suggest me the best ROM that has the most LG features and that is really awesome to use? I am asking you guys because you are the experts on using custom ROMs!
Thanks,
Roy
