I have a samsung galaxy nexus by sprint. I was recently using CyanogenMOD 11. I put it into airplane mode and when i tried to turn if off, the radio would not come back... so I decided to go back to stock rom and flashed it back to Android 4.2.1 (GA02) via wugfresh toolkit. After flashing I noticed the phone was not picking up any bars to the cell tower so I first performed factory reset. After that was done I still was not able to connect to the cell network, so I let it upgrade to 4.3 via Wifi (works btw). Stll not connecting to tower.
At that point I remembered I may need to perform a carrier wipe and on my phone I entered *#*#72786#*#*, then it asked for the MLS number which I entered (double checked it with my carrier so I know I'm using the correct MLS ID) and after entering it, the phone returns the following error:
Modem Error
Modem Exception Occurs
And there is an option to push "yes" nothing else. If I press yes, it goes back to the dialer and nothing happens.
If I attempt a PRL or Profile update, I get the following message
Error
The PRL update could not be completed. Please try again later
If the problem persists, you may need to contact customer service.
Error: (Code: 8)Unknown Error
Also there is a line showing up during.
sprintaccount username(Device ID) is null...
Is there anything I can do to get the phone to connect to the network again?
Thanks,
As an update, it appears the radio is just not being recognized at all. Settings>about phone>Baseband Version = Uknown
I have attempted to flash different radios (GA02 and FH05) which says it was successful (TRWP) but still no radio. No idea what to do from this point.

Hey everyone,
So I've been flashing ROMs on my Epic for about 2 years now, and I'm very VERY used to troubleshooting issues and solving them by either browsing the forums or doing it myself. However, I CANNOT get 4G to work on this phone except for stock EC05. I am currently running 4.3 with the latest gapps on the new Carbon Unofficial epicmtd ROM, with deodexed FC09 radio. I get **** service and can't connect to 4G. This happens consistently with all the ROM's I've used as well as the radios for anything past CM7. Does anyone know what I can do to remedy this situation? I would really like to not have to flash it over to another carrier due to sprint being horrible service providers.
tl;dr how do I get 4G working on FC09

I offer this suggestion with much caution....
Ever consider using EFS Clear within Odin? You'll have to setup your phone again, but it could help.
WARNING: This will completely delete your phone identification and you won't be able to reconnect to Sprint's network until you set it up manually again. Write down all your pertinent information, such as MEID #, phone number, etc..
From stock FC09, I recall having to do the following to enter the information:
Enter in the dialpad: ##785468#
Press Edit
Touch the number area to input your phone number.
Input your phone like: 5551112222 (Where you have area code and then phone with no dashes, spaces or parenthesis)
Hit return
Input your phone number like before in the next field
Hit return
Hit done
Manually update your profile in Settings > About Phone > Status
You can always just call up customer care and ask them the steps on how to reconnect your phone to the network. I just said a little cousin starting hitting buttons and when I grabbed the phone it refused to allow calls, text and data.

Nevermind, I understand now. How much success have you had with this process? And do I just need the phone's status splash screen information or am I manually entering EVERYTHING?
Hello. A couple days ago I updated stock Android and flashed the radio from xxla2 to the latest. It seemed that things were going well except that it wasn't connecting to the T-Mobile network.
I know that I messed up when I was getting ready to install, and had formatted system when I was clearing the caches.
Tried a number of things, flashing the radio back to what it was..entering the # # 36 ..etc code, whatever it is. Tried airplane mode toggles, tried available networks refresh, and on and on. Still getting a triangle saying "Selected network (T-Mobile) unavailable."
I've also contacted t-mobile to make sure that there isn't an account issue or something.
Any ideas of what I could attempt to restore service?
I have upgraded from Jelly Beans to Kitkat 4.4.2 via regular OTA upgrade provided by Samsung on my Samsung Note 8" GT-N5110. Since then I am unable to use Wifi on it. My device is NOT rooted and is running on original Samsung software upgraded via OTA.
I have tried to clear cache and then factory re-set as well and still can't get the WIFI button to sometime even select available WIFI networks. So issues I am facing are summarized below"
1. After factory re-set and clearing cache via Power+Vol Up option, when I tried to setup from scratch, WIFI would not turn on at all meaning device would not be able to scan for available WIFI network or would do so but after long time and if it does show available Networks and I select my home network with required security (WPA2) and password, it would show status as " Saved" rather than connecting to this network. The device would not connect to selected network even after multiple tries.
2. When trying to turn wifi on, device would not show "WIFI" button to Green but instead would stuck at "Grey" color for ever unless rebooted and re-tried many times. The grey would turn green when selecting advanced option or tabbing thro' back button but would not scan available networks then. If it would scan thro' Networks, it would just save selected network even with correct security option and password for it.
WIFI not turning on has made this device a piece of junk for any meaningful use. Any suggestions/ help would be highly appreciated. Again please note, my device is UNROOTED and running on original firmware provided by Samsung via OTA upgrade.
Hi XDA Gurus,

If you don't mind... try odin 3.09, flash philz recovery, factory reset for wipe clean for fresh install option, and boot to downloader. Flash a firmware from sam mobile, or the get a usa version in the development section.
That should flash a clean install after a wipe
Ok there's a short version to this and a long version, I'll start with the short version....
After a lot of tail chasing I've almost got the phone 100% back to how it should be, it seems that the only thing left to sort out is for me to be allowed to use USB instead of UART to reset my IMEI (got wiped out, "unknown"). Is there any reason why it wouldn't stick or a way to resolve it? The phone states "USB_Diag selected", "Change Complete", etc.... but when I click back it's still on UART. I've tried rebooting direct from that screen, coming out and rebooting, using the home button, etc, etc, etc. For whatever reason it just wont stick?
Long version......
I wanted to unlock the phone so that I could try out a payg sim that I was having issues with (only phone with a micro-slot). At first I tried to unlock it which didn't work, it suggested installing a prior baseband version of modem to get it to work so I tried that and it came up baseband unknown, imei unknown, etc, etc, etc. Fun fun fun. A bit of panic set in and I started installing anything I could find, I soon found myself with a "image resolution" boot error, which I believe was down to me trying to downgrade to 4.2.2 when 4.4 had already been installed. I eventually got myself back on an even keel but I'm still left with the IMEI unknown error. I'm trying to set it to the default using Samsung Tool Pro (24.3) but I keep getting an Access Violation (004074E0). I've disabled UAC just in case it wasn't fully running in administrators rights (which I had set it to do) and I've tried everything else I can think of. The one thing through browsing around that I can't get set properly is the 9090 menu to have USB instead of UART.
Info:
Model - GT-I9195
Version - 4.4.2
Baseband - I9195XXUCNJ5
IMEI - Unknown
Oh, one other thing that I recall. When selecting "Reset MSL" in the Samsung tools it said it completed successfully but my phone didn't reboot? I wasn't sure if that had anything to do with it. Secure boot status shows "Samsung"?
I have managed to force the IMEI using xposed but I would prefer not to go down that route if possible.
Thanks for any help
I flashed the the newest firmware, then flashed the Pefume 2.51.617.32 rom, and now the cell portion will not work. It will pick up a signal if I reboot, or sometimes toggle airplane mode. It will show 4g, but then it just goes back to the line over the bars. The sim card works in a Verizon iPhone, but if I manually try to connect to Verizon I get your sim card doesn't support this network error.
I assume I don't need to reflash the modem since I do get a signal after a reboot for about 30 seconds, then it goes away. I also have tried a factory reset, network reset, and verified my imei was still on the phone. I got this phone used with s off and unlocked bootloader already. It was running stock Android for Verizon 7.0. Firware was 2.41 before I updated it to flash the newer rom.
Any suggestions?

I reflashed the modem a couple times, and it is now working. However, wifi calling doesn't show as an option.

Did it work before you flashed it?
Is the SIM locked to your iPhone?
Do you have a network update option? Does the network need time to recognize the new phone? (I haven't used CDMA in years, don't remember beyond it being a pain)

There is a thread similar to this in the Verizon forums.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-htc-10/how-to/vzw-how-to-unlocked-model-vzw-t3376743/page40
Might not be so easy to get working. Since you're on the verizon network I would just convert it back to VZW software. The Oreo update is supposedly coming soon, and that way you wouldn't have to mess around flashing radios, etc.
I flashed all the way back to 1.85 Verizon RUU, and had to run the erase modem fastboot commands to get wifi calling back. I then flashed Twrp and the newest custom rom based on 2.617 and wifi calling is still in place! However, I lost my home button. I quickly figured out the firmware was still on 1.85 from the flash down to 1.85, so I flashed the newest firmware to match the rom and everything is back working.
