Whatever, isn't a problem.. dude, just delete that icon from your homescreen.
And, as @Ateekujjawal said, rooted phones can't recieve OTA updates, so that's why u are recieving that message.

Once you root your phone, you gain access to system files which you can modify. So Samsung doesn't allow you to update if you have a rooted device and thus when it checked the Samsung servers for update after a month, it must be showing this icon. If you want to unroot, you can check my signature.

Never mind. To copy apps you need access to the system folder which means you would need to root.

you could odin a custom recovery image, boot into recovery and create a nad of your phone and then dropbox it for safe keeping. Flash the original recovery - i think i saw it in the development threat - and check the flash counter to see if you tripped it... if you did then you'll have to follow the instructions in the dev thread on how to reset everything to stock, it'll take a bit of the search function and some reading but should be releatively easy.

Google Play Movies and TV

I have flashed several different roms over the past year. On my latest one I tried to download my movies from the Google Play Movies and TV app and it said that I had reached my maximum number of devices. I have never downloaded to anything other than my phone. What can I do?

Google only allows 10 devices so every time you flash a rom it counts it as a new device. You need to go to your play.google.com account and click on devices and remove all the old ones.

Once you remove it from your Google account open play music or movies and try to open your library. If this doesn't work you might have to preform a factory reset and sign back into Google.

You might want to flash a stock rom and see if that works. Other than that I would contact play movies support and have them reset your account

I contacted the play store and this what they responded to me with:
"The error message you reported displays when you attempt to play on a rooted device. Rooted devices are currently unsupported due to requirements related to copyright protection. If your device is rooted, you can still watch your movie from a computer at play.google.com/movies."

[Q] wifi not working after root. sm t217s

Process was... TWRP... Stock firmware...supersu. paid for WiFi tether and showed connection to router but still is running off of sprint data. WiFi slide won't even stay in on postion. Device won't even show network options. Any takers? Would just flash new cm but there isn't any yet as I assume the developers are still at it. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
I looked at the specs for the T211 and see that "WiFi Direct Available". I don't know what that means but I suspect that Sprint has the WiFi capability turned off and non-accesable. This would not surprise me. If forces you to use Sprint data (at a cost to you) instead of free WiFi hotspots. I also looked to see if there was a Cellular South firmware (OEM Rom) and did not see one.
I am at a loss as to why you cannot access WiFi. I would call a Sprint store and inquire as to why you cannot access WiFi. See if they have a legitimate answer. If they say it is turned off and CANNOT be turned on, then I would take it back and demand a refund then find another carrier.

Please refer to my thread. No need to take it to Sprint. Easy fix.

but your wifi feature was disabled due to the flashed ROM. some ROMs breaks that capability due to compatibility with the current BL.

Actually you can reload the OEM Rom (Firmware) back onto the device and it will appear brand new. Then they will look at it. Unless, of course, you already let them know what you have done.

Same problem here....
No WiFi after flashing any customs. I have CWMCR installed. Now, after I install roms, I have NO WiFi.... So a useless tab. My only means of communicating while I'm at work
I used to have a Sprint Samsung Moment, which I extensively flashed, until it was smashed. Anyway.... help!??
It's just WiFi for now since I haven't renewed any contracts.
Please help!

Restore root for OTA updates

Guys,
Do we have a way to restore root to a device to recieve OTA updates? Previously I would use the Root Keeper app, but that hasn't worked since 4.3 was released. I'm specifically looking for a way that doesn't involve reflashing the stock firmware in Odin and basically starting fresh. I'd like to keep my device as is, just restore root to pull OTA updates.

Did you make a backup on out-of-the-box,no-root stock?
Yes, but that essentially would be the same as loading stock firmware, since it was the first thing I did. (No apps installed, no account syncs etc.)
Sent from my SM-N910P using XDA Free mobile app
Alright, so Superuser is able to restore root to the device, but OTA still won't work because the device is still detected as unauthorized modification. Looks like I'll be stuck pushing firmware after all.

It's funny that nobody seems to want to use Kies, but it's a great way to safely update the phone, you don't have to wait for OTA to get pushed to your phone, and it works on rooted phone.
