I have never opened a thread before as I'm a user. Say I found a mod on XDA from a different model of a HTC phone/different carrier an the thread is like 2 years old. As I tried this on 4.4.2 vzw an it did work. Can I open a thread under vzw thread so other vzw user can see how? If I can do I just open a thread with the url to the older thread stated above. Or can I open a thread an make sure to post where I got this an that I deserve zero credit? If someone could reply it would be cool as it is very useful..

Just make the thread in general and put in parentheses what it is eg. mod, info, etc. Since you're just linking to something I wouldn't do it in development.

It is a code edit that is useful for people on any of santods full stock Roms. If I just link the old thread it has directions for AT&T HTC phone or is it alright if I reword them so it makes sense to vzw users? I'm only asking cause I see how it isn't kind to just take credit for what someone else shared somewhere else on XDA. I appreciate you responding.

Yeah just start a thread in general. That isn't really a dev thing. Make sure to link back to the original op and have credits to the original creator. If you're really concerned shoot him a pm and ask if he's cool with it.

Ok I'm clear on now what to do. As I agree it's not a dev thing. I'm going to post it in general. Just wondering I see a bunch of mods/edits in apps an themes. Do people open threads there if they create it them selfs. I have no more questions after these lol.

I suppose you could put it there. The mods will move it where they think it should be.

I've used both ROMs and they're awesome, stable, and fast. Beyond a few differences, though, nothing really different sticks out to me except that Fresh doesn't use the Sense launcher.
You are not going to get flamed because you are not asking which one is better, you are going to get flamed for posting this in development, and it is your first post? You indeed are asking a question so this belongs in the forum called Q&A, it has nothing to do with development. Mods, please move.
Sprint Lovers
For the most part both are quick and work fairly seamlessly. I prefer Sprint Lovers personally but that's me. I think as a whole it works smoother, but that's an aesthetic thing. Both give you what you want out of a custom rom, wifi tethering and all that. Fresh has issues with clockworkmod recovery though, need AmonRA in order to use properly. Personally this irritates me but I don't really see it as a problem. The one nice thing I found in Fresh that came with it automatically was the file manager it provides however all you need is ASTRO with Sprint Lovers and you're good to go. Fresh is more customizable for the average user I suppose but if you are comfortable with adb and SDK then you should be able to customize on your own anyway (look into themeing and how it's done properly before you attempt to do anything and by all means don't mess with .9 files unless you have an understanding of how they work) Other than these issues I didn't find any major differences but have my preference as you can tell. Try some others out too though, some people like Cyanogen's stuff. Good luck.
This WOULD be the Q & A... eh yeah that's all. Moron

Figured out the answer to my question.
I assume you mean the notification bar... and there wouldn't be any way to remove it without rooting. Even with rooting I'm not sure its possible outside a completely custom ROM.
Why would you want to remove it anyway? Its a great part of android...

*edit*
I've figured it out. This thread can be closed.
What was the point of deleting your post? I hate when people do that. What if your question and subesquent discovery of the answer helps someone with the same question? Deleting your question doesn't take it off the thread, just let the original content slowly fade off into the XDA abyss like the rest of them that don't get responses.
Because it was simple overlook on my part. My launcher already had the option it was worded differently than others. So yes there is a point in closing it as there was no outside solution found by me. Plus there is another thread of the same topic posted that people can look at for a solution.

Hoe about not posting a new thread in developmental, unless its related to developing the phone for the better......continuing to do so can and will results in a temp/perm ban

uh this isn't in developmental it's in Q&A.
Does anyone have the gb radio, or can you link to a working source? The CM links are not working for me. Thanks!

Come on, don't make me post in dev to get someone's attention. I know someone has to have to updated radio.

There is an active thread in the dev forums with links to all the radios.

The development section is not for posting new question threads. Don't be that obnoxious person that posts questions in the dev section cause you think more people will see it. I've heard the search feature is pretty helpful.
I did lots of searching and was unable to find what I was looking for. Hence why I posted my question here as a last resort, knowing full well that more than likely I would not get a helpful response, and would probably get flamed. I'm glad to know that threatening to post in the dev section is a good way to get negative responses. What ever, I finally found what I was looking for, this can be closed, or ignored, whichever is easier.

Dude are you serious. Please open your eyes. This is such a wasteful thread.
I'm setting up a DInc2 for my technically challenged mother. I'd like to install a ROM that is easy to understand and straight forward. But my biggest concern is that the ROM be extremely de-bloated and very stable. I would appreciate recommendations as to which custom ROMs would be best suited given these parameters.
Thanks in advance!

We would all appreciate a post in the right section. How come no one reads the rules when they sign up?? Maybe I'm weird, but I thought that was just a common thing.
To answer your question, go with cm7. Its super light weight, and can't really go wrong with it.

Should this rather have been posted in the General section? Since this involves custom ROMs I figured this was the place, but I'll be glad to abandon this and ask in the General section if that is appropriate.
In any event, thanks for the recommendation.

This section is for *development*. This probably should have gone in Q&A, since you're asking a question. There's also 400 of these posts already. Please don't make another thread though because this one will likely get moved.

Run skyraider Zeus 1.3 or andybonestock.
Download titanium.
Remove all unwanted apps.
I would recommend sense roms since the phone was made for it. Also the camera works better on sense. I personally h8 sense, but if your goal is to avoid hearing complaints, go sense & debloat manually.

Stock éclair...
Probally will get royally flamed for bthis or have it removed, But for those like me that have to have wifi calling on our phones, is it possible for someone to make a thread with a list of ROMs with this feature. i would, but since I'm relatively new to this scene, and don'tknow any of thedevs, i wouldn't be able to get there permissions. I would make it myself if they would allow.
You can post info like this about roms, just don't post links except ones that are to the rom thread.
Unless you want something old, all roms that are built using the latest T-Mobile build, UVDMD5, will most likely have wifi calling. Just look for that build in the op and if you don't see it, move along to the next. If you want to cross reference an older rom to see if its a T-Mobile base, just compare to the build number in my firmware thread.

So I can configure a list as long as I only list links to threads. I thought even that it was considered wrong to do without consulting the dev. Just dont want to step on toes. And if was to compile the list myself, would I put it in development section or general information section.
Sent from somewhere bizarre and no I don't want to talk about it.

Yup. Perfectly fine to do that. You just dont want to post links to their actual roms w/o permission. Some devs like to keep an eye on download counts and stuff like that. This way they know where everyone gets the download link from. Honestly though, most probably wouldnt even care about that, but still its best to ask for anything else.
Id say this would go in the General Section.
If it is just going to contain info about the ROMs, you should post it in General. If you end up including anything like a FAQ or Q&A, then it could go in the Q&A section.
Never start a thread in the development sections unless you have something to release such as a rom or mod. (or at least the plan to release and are actively developing a WIP (Work In Progress)).
Never post questions or general info guides and such there. If deemed it needs to go there in the future, it can always be moved.
