I have a S3 I747 4.3 and have never rooted before. Can anyone help me to root with a Mac. It relay frustrating trying to find a method for a Mac. I tried motochopper but it didn't work

Instead of using pc toolls..use android tools like ONE CLICK ROOt Or FARMAROOT
Sent from my GT-S7562 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Will that work on 4.3, and what do you know about Croat?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
Do you have any warranty left on your phone? If you do, rooting may trip the Knox counter and void the warranty.
I'm not worried about the warranty I just want my phone to be better
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
Rooting will certainly allow you to remove bloatware and the like.
Do you have VMWare on your mac? If you do, you may be able to follow one of the 4.3 rooting guides that requires a PC.
No I don't have amything. So I need a step be step that can be used on a Mac.

At&T
As a side note, rooting will not automatically make your phone better.
If you have access to a PC, try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2538991
My main reason to root it the battery, bloat ware, and free tether. Sadly I only have a Mac and its like pulling teeth trying to find a way to root for 4.3 on a dang mac . Looks like I may have to find a Buddy with a pc

Just noticed that it doesn't work on 4.3

As of right now, the only way to get root is with the use of the computer as of yet.
Being that seems to work pretty well I doubt there will be development to a root method without a computer.
Hmm, thanks for your feedback

I put the developer kit on my phone and then you can do it from someone elses computer...
What about mobile Odin pro? Then use that to flash the recovery of your choice. The reboot to recovery and install the superuser script?

Doubt it. I think you still need pc

Mobile odin requires root. So it can't be used to gain root.
Chainfire release a rooting method. I haven't tried it but have heard it works well. You still need Odin on a pc for any root procedure that I'm aware of.

Rooting is yes, only available via computer.

Do it the old fashion way.....this worked well back in the day....

There is currently a bug in samsung kernel that will allow any app to obtain root even on non rooted devices without any prompts this could be potentially be very damaging if it's a malicious app
App to verify if you are affected https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lowlevel.exynosmembug
Temp fix apk *requires root though*

I believe previous exploits like super one click involved running the apk and commands were done in terminal and adb debug had to be checked off so the user should be well aware of it running. I'm not certain but I believe this one will allow an app to get root even on unrooted phones with out access to terminal so pretty much without the user knowing. Well any how I just prefer to be safe.
I rooted jb with it

It's an easier way to root than being tethered a computer and having to use odin. Especially with the jellybean leaks.

You don't really need root to Odin... just put it in dl mode. (Power+vol up)...
But that doesn't help you with the no usb thing. But you could probably Odin at a library...

Yeah, what others said. Odin won't root it....unless you root it. Just flashing rom wont root it.
If no one on earth will let you use their computer for this.....then I'm gonna guess you're a known computer jinx or something and they don't want you breaking their stuff!

Interesting. It's worth a shot OP. Worst case, it fails and you uninstall. If it is successful, you can install mobile odin, then get the latest gb27 tar, and money. While you're at it, you will have to flash a cwm custom jb kernel, since you're on ics, and, MO won't flash modems, you'll need a jb modem to use data on gb27. Download the zip though of the modem . Good luck, let us know how it goes.

If you bought an att note 8, the model number is actually i467.
There is a method to root our device, but since it has a locked boot loader we do not have the ability to install a custom recovery or flash custom Roms yet...
Hopefully someone smarter than me can figure that out...

Yeah, there is no ROMs available but you do have the option for 4.3.x or 4.4.x when AT&T decides to update.
I have no issues with AT&T 4.1.2 once I safe rooted.
Had purchased new in March, and is the best $220 for a unlocked US tablet I ever spent.
Pretty much the same setup as what I have on my Note 8.0 WIFI only.
