Hi,
Somehow (my own fault) I lost my original camera app. I think I uninstalled 3D thinking it was separate. (I had no use for 3D)
I've tried.other apps but don't like them as much.
I searched for the original app and found something on here, but I keep getting 'not installed'.
I am just unsure what and how I should do it?

Which firmware are you using? I can give you the APKs.
Also, removing the 3D camera won't affect the normal camera app (removes only 3D and panorama functionality).

Hi, how/where do I check for the firmware please?
Well I don't know how I broke it, but was trying other apps to try to find something better. They may or may not be better but not as easy.
In looking at my phone I see the following:
model LT18i
Android version: 4.0.3
Build:4.1.A.0.562
Kernel: 2.6.32.9-perf
Is it any of those?
EDIT: Didn't notice your last post just now. Give me a few mins, I will give you the APK(s).

Both installed, or said they did..
Though 'camera' doesn't seem to work, reports 'unfortunately 'camera' stopped working..
3D does come on, but also crashed.
Anyway I appreciate that you had the apks thank again!
Seems like you may have removed more than just the APKs...

Ah... darn. For future reference, what is the /data/data folder for gallery3d? I'll need to delete its settings to try anything... But I can't see it standing out, just wondered if you knew?

The problem is not in the apk its in the 3d drivers.
I'm not sure if this is the right thread to ask in, but here it goes.
Does anyone have a problem with slow loading picture thumbs in the 3d gallery?
Some times the thumbs never even load at all. And every time I start the 3d gallery app the thumbs start to load from scratch... slooooowly. So the gallery is almost unusable for browsing photos.

In any case, in the latest 5.1 Villain ROM the gallery works perfectly. You could ask to the developer how to do it....
Using the fixed app will not fix it across every ROM, as you've discovered.
It's a pain in the arse, and to tell you the truth, I tried that many things to fix it that I'm not even 100% sure which fixed it.
It's really not worth it... HTC's official ROM will use 'Photos' anyway... as the Desire/Legend official roms do.
The rotation bug is not in the app itself but the 3d drivers in the phone. It is currently fixed in 5.1 and sure it will remain that way in 5.2
I am currently using 5.1 and I don't have the rotation bug. Just my photos load very very slowly and some of them don't load up at all.
I can help you fix this, just PM me the details and the rom you're using.
Did anyone here have any success in finding a gallery apk that works without the rotation bug in legend roms like legendary and legendroid?
I love the Gallery but I also love the legend hero ports because of the extra widgets and enhanced browser you get. Would be fantastic to have the best of both worlds...

Everything works well. I was really looking forward to the new 3D gallery in Froyo but I have the same old gallery. Though the app has been renamed from Pictures to Gallery, it still looks and functions the same.
Am I missing something or is it there somewhere? I hope someone knows the answer.

Not too sure what is and isn't considered questionable as far as the software that comes bundled with some default ROMS goes.

the 3d gallery is from the nexus one only, nothing to do with htc, you can download a mooded one from the market search for 3d gallery

its not wares unless its an aplication that you have to pay for so for example if a rom came with a free version of copilot, and u shared it that would be warez but apps that are made by the phone developers arnt

to troubleshoot, I did flash a new rom with full wipe (hoping it was just software) and no joy.
How can I test to see if the hardware is shot or if it's just a software thing?
Any logs I can look at?

I had to get a new phone because my camera quit. I think I may have dropped it and jarred something. Maybe try an app that uses the camera but not as a camera. A mirror app for FFC, or a text and walk app that uses the camera to show you what you can't see in front of you while texting.
Chances are though, broken camera. If its not ROM related a backup should fix it.

His issues:
1) phone didn't receive calls all the time
2) when factory camera app opens all images were fuzzy or staticy
3) images of static when taken didn't save.... random icon app shows up in gallery
4) If you used Skype - camera was fine
SO I knew it couldn't be the camera itself.... so i decided to root the phone and update firmware/software and see what happens
I used CWM, then Jedi Mind tricks V6
phone seems fixed, camera screen seems fixed (no more fuzzy), but..... when you take a pic the image is a generic icon still. See pic I took with my GS4 attached.
any idea whats going on?
I have read that 4.2.x may have this issue.... should I try a different ROM?

Try a ROM that is 4.1.x. I had a similar problem where a lot of my pictures didn't show up, so I switched to a different ROM and it seemed to have worked. I'm on Infamous right now, and it works fine. Or you can try JediJelly, which is similar to JMT, but is updated and works rather well.

By the way, Jedi Mind tricks is android 4.1.2 (jedi Mind trick JB6)
any idea where to download a good one (that you know will work without viruses or crash etc)?

Hi guys,
Every time my Sprint S3 power cycles, I lose the functionality to use PhotoSphere. I have no idea why. I've tried different recovery options, fixing permissions...nothing.
It explains why all of a sudden .zip that previously had worked for me stopped working, and why now I'm able to do it with the APK file.
Honestly, I'm OK with re-installing that APK every time I want to use PhotoSphere, but there's got to be a better fix than that! Any suggestions, ideas, avenues to explore &c would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Do you mind sharing the APK that you used to get Photosphere?
The one or two that I've tried both have the functionality, but the "window" where I'm supposed to see the image being photosphered stays blank. I'm hoping I need a newer/better APK.

Ahh... that was you that provided the link. Thanks for the help.
I did try using that APK, but like I said... for some reason the camera image never displays in the box. I see the box and the blue circle... just no image. I dont get it. I dont have problems with any other camera app.
