Got the 3500MAH battery via ebay yesterday. Plugged it in, ran it all day. Got down to 3 percent when I got home. Plugged it in.. all i get is the amber light blinking, then turning to amber and green blinking. Ok, so i unplugged the charger and let the battery sit out for an hour or so. Maybe it was overheating. Plugged it all back in, same thing and it will not turn on. Tried a different charger, nothing.
I remember seeing something on here a while back, but i can't find it now (yes, even with a google search) about people using 3000-3500MAH batteries and having the same issue but after doing.. something.. everything started working. Couldn't remember what. Any ideas to help me get this thing to charge?
Hi,
last night my Desire ran out of juice, and when i woke up it was empty.
So this morning i turned it on, entered my PIN and immediatly plugged it.
When i came back later, it was not running anymore. The LED isn't green as usual, and i can't turn it on.
It charges for several hours now, and nothing happen. I tried pulling of the battery, nothing at all.
I'm running Oxygen 2.0 RC7 (Android 2.3.2) for weeks without any problems.
tl;dr : phone not charging, no led at all. plz help.
Thx in advance for your answers !
EDIT : the phone rebooted without SIM and SD cards. Weird.
I just faced the same problem. I woke up to see the battery was compelety drained and the phone was off. I plug in the charger but the led doesn't turn on. How did you resolve this? How did you manage to reboot the device?
In my case, the phone was on with the charger plugged in but battery icon is red and empty. I reboot and clear battery stat in clockworkmod, reboot and all's well again...
Resolved
Well, in my case I had drained the battery completely. The phone neither would turn on nor would charge after the battery was drained overnight. I checked that there was about 3V in all cells of the battery.
In such case, pull out the battery and plug in your charger and you can see the led flash in all colors. This will make sure that the problem is with the drained battery and not the phone. Leave the charger plugged in for about 10-15 mins without the battery. Then put the battery back on and charge your phone, it should start charging and you will be able to see the red led. Now, let it charge till till your battery is fully charged.
i also have the problem that the phone want charge
when i insert the charger (with removed battery) sometimes the led starts flashing and sometimes it does not
at the first time i tried your method and waited for about 10 minutes
at next i inserted the battery but the phone didnt start to charge and now the led want start flashing when i connect it to the charger
ME Too1!!!!

Any solutions to cp6ija's problem?
This morning had same problem myself. HTC Desire plugged into mains charger overnight, but this morning discovered hadn't actually been charging and battery low although phone working. Now battery drained and cant get charging led to flash whether plugged into mains charger or PC via USB. Tried different USB leads and temporary battery removal as well as charging withour batter. LED resolutely dead
As per sod's law, phone out of warranty a few months back.
Help!
Hey guys, I recently had a problem with my screen turning on and off on it's own but finally it stopped. But now I'm having even worse problems.
Basically what is happening is that my phone won't charge. Last night it was at 60% and I put it in the charger. I woke up in the middle of the night and I checked my phone and it was fully charged, so I went back to bed. When I woke up in the morning to take my phone it was only at 49%, so I plugged it back in and it charged to 54% before I had to go. I barely used to phone all day to conserve on power since I didn't really have much left. So, it's at 40% battery when I get back home and I plug it into to charge. I left it for an hour or two and went to go check on it. It didn't charge at all. In fact all the stats were saying that it was discharging. So I unplugged it from the back side (where the charger is in the wall) and the lightning bolt was still in the top corner. I freaked out and unplugged it from the usb port and it stopped, when I plugged it back into the usb (without power from the power outlet) it showed that it was still charging which was really weird. I tried everything such as taking out the battery and putting back in. I even tried to use a different usb cable to charge it with no success. But still everything says it's discharging.
I have no idea what to do? Could this a sign that the battery is failing, should I buy a new one? Does anybody have any idea of what might be happening? I've been looking everywhere but I haven't found any solutions
It's probably input voltage dropping caused by USB cable. Try another cable and see.
Well the problem stopped for a few days but now it back again, I plug it in to charge and it just doesn't charge, it recognizes that it's plugged in but it just won't charge.
I'm now attempting to charge it with a different cable again to see if it works. If it doesn't could this be a sign of a battery issue? Because if it is I can buy one tomorrow.
I'm starting to think it might be the charging point, hypothetically if I were to send it to Samsung for repairs, how much would they charge for replacing the charging port. Or would it easier to replace it myself if I were to buy one off ebay? How difficult is it to replace the charging port?
Having massive issues right now. Last night I left my phone plugged in AC to charge and ran a sleep tracker app. Woke up this morning and found the phone dead. I tried unplugging and plugging again multiple times and managed to get the Red LED blinking then it went steady indicating it was charging. Turned the phone on but as if it wasn't charging anymore, it powered off within minutes. I managed to get recovery running and factory reset (running CM10). Same issue still there. I even tried leaving the phone in hboot and recovery to charge but after 10 mins the battery went flat again. Now I've just left the phone off and plugged into AC. The blinking LED came on again then went steady - but after 15 mins the LED light disappears. I just left it like that, now the phone tries to boot up but gets stuck at HTC logo. Also it is incredibly hot.
Any ideas? Really need help here.
Additional info, installed NFS: Most Wanted yesterday, tried playing but phone really overheated big time. Could that have cause the motherboard to fry? Just seems odd though cause it boots up fine, just won't stay on - can't even get past the initial setup wizard.
Also I would take it back to Vodafone AU but since I can't get the phone up long enough to restore to stock, they might find out I've rooted and thus voiding my warranty.
I had the same problem. I installed NFS MW and it drained my battery like help and when i tried recharging it it wouldnt charge
at all. Even when i pluged the phone on it wouldnt charge. Tried a different cable. For all it could be a adapter/cable problem.
That was what it was for me. I tried a different charger and it worked. If you are using a different charger, use something with 1A output.
If the led is blinking, it means that the battery is verryy low.
once your phone turns on, turn the airplane mode ON and display OFF and wait a few minutes before using the phone.
no luck

Yea, I tried using a different cable, even tried using my old iPod USB to wall adapter. No luck there, but I think I'm on to something now. Thanks anyway
getting there

Hey, yea I figured that much from searching around. Too bad it's such a big flaw. I couldn't sustain a charge at all when I was still on CM10. Couldn't even finish booting up and it would just die. Voltage was super low was my guess. Tried using the fastboot charging script (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1658084&page=5) and managed to get battery up enough to flash stock boot.img, did a nandroid restore to Stock ROM then flashed stock recovery. Seems to be stable now, in airplane mode and display off. Started up phone at 4% and now it's at 6% so fingers crossed :fingers-crossed: Thanks for the reply though - needing all the tips I can get!
Okay, so I installed CM13 sometime in April I believe. It was working fine for the most part, battery life wasn't any worse than stock, and I couldn't do OTA updates and had an early nightly build on it.
A couple weeks ago, after my kids let the battery deplete all the way (again), I plugged it in overnight. I should add that when the device was being used while charging, it would get VERY warm at the USB port. The next morning, when I turned it on, it flashed the Samsung boot logo, flickered a bit and shut off. I tried going into recovery, looked through these wonderful forums and even re-seated the battery. It would showed the large empty battery symbol once, sometimes boot the Samsung logo again but always flicker and shut off in about 1-2 seconds. This happened about 3-5 times. Now it doesn't do anything at all.
Before I drop any funds on a battery (I'm on a very tight budget) should I try anything else? Should I be thinking of changing the USB port instead?
try another 5v 2+A charger and micro usb cable

I know that once my battery is completely depleted, I had to re-seat the battery connection cable, then I plugged the tablet into my PC for about an hour and got that same battery symbol with a circle indicator. After the hour passed, I plugged it into a standard Samsung charger and let it charge from the adapter fully. This has happened to me a few times and the above method has always worked for me! Good Luck!

I'll give it a shot, thanks! At the very least, I know the USB port is doing something since it gave me a quick battery/circle indicator after I plugged it in to a plug charger this time!

Well, it took about 15 hours of being plugged in to fully charge, after bring plugged in for a full day just to get it to power up at all!
So now that I can turn it on and stuff, it's getting VERY warm to the touch. I do remember it getting warm before, but never this warm. Right now it's not in it's case, which might have hidden the heat before.
It's mostly on the left side of the device where the heat is most intense, right about at the middle of the device. Is this a signal of the battery needing to be replaced?
And thanks! :good:

Glad to hear you got the device to come back to life, but in regards to the battery... I've always noticed the heated area in the center left side of the device when multi-tasking. Personally, I flashed a CyanogenMod Rom and have seen less heating issues than when I used the standard TouchWiz Roms. I'm really trying to prevent my tablet getting to the point of a battery replacement, but the Rom seemed to make a difference for me.
The cpu/soc is in the bottom middle (when device is held landscape mode), it will get warm / hot depending on what tasks the tablet is doing, under idle conditions it should not be hot, turn screen brightness down too, when charging it should get warm near the usb port and maybe slightly warm on the back but not hot.
