Is there a root solution without using usb? - LG Optimus G Pro

My E980s micro usb is borked, which i've been ok with because I have 3 batteries that i switch out from a wallcharger.
But I had to go back to stock and want to reroot, so I'm wondering is there a solution that doesn't require the connection to the comp?

Check the advanced properties of your wifi on the phone. Do you have both 2.4 and 5ghz turned on?
Does it detect it? If not turn wireless off and then on again.

You need to be specific about your ROM, kernel, modem, wireless encryption type, etc...

Need more info on the wireless network config please. Big one is Encryption Type (including any tunneling) but other info such as the router model would help as well.
Linksys e3000 encryption is set to tpik-ase encryption

Just for clarification, you were attempting push button before then had to manually enter the key to get it to connect?

Does Windows recognize your phone at all when you plug it in?
I believe so...I know Odin does it pops up with com#3 I believe but everything either fails or freezes

If you haven't already, try Odin 1.85 or 3.05. The only 2 I've ever used that worked. 3.07 wouldn't flash stock JB for me, 3.05 did. 1.85 should do the older ics or GB I would think.

1.85 was the other version I tried and still a no go

You're still on the MDL bootloader, so simply flash the 4.3 MK2 modem.bin file in Odin and you will be on the latest BB.

Will I have to deal with the Knox junk tho once I flash to that bootloader

As long as you don't flash the 4.3 KNOX bootloader, you won't have to deal with it. Flash only the MK2 modem and you will be fine.
I guess mobile odin won't flash the modem? Will I have to do it on a laptop I take it?

Is that what mobile odin should look like..it flashes fine but don't change anything

People have said it took them a couple tries before it stuck. I used this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2544612
And I did use a laptop.

It is really iffy with MobileOdin. Try your laptop. Choose Phone, choose the modem.bin file, uncheck auto reboot, plug in your phone, press start. Once it says "passed," let it sit there connected for 30 seconds. Then manually reboot, it will stick. Good luck!
