In have a strange problem with my n5100 note 8. The pull down notification bar works in portrait mode and in landscape orientation when the home button is on the left. If I turn the note to the other landscape orientation with home button on right the pull down stops working. This is only true when using my finger. If I use the S Pen it works in all orientations. I have tried a factory reset which did not help.
something that may be related is at random times the screen will stop responding to my fingers all together until I put the device into standby and wake it. When this happens the S Pen still works as normal.
I have booked the device in for a service but I have to drive a few hours to get it sorted out and would like to avoid that.
anybody had this issue?

When I boot up after reset or power off, the homescreen displays top task bar, bottom soft keys, and displays "launching TouchFlo3D..." and then... nothing. The screen stays like this until I tap it, and then it displays the home screen. Anybody else seeing this?
Even when just switching it on from a while on standby, I get a black screen.
I press the home or start buttons, and the home screen comes on ...... when it feels like it
I have never got no one to answer a question on here good luck...

Does touching the screen make it start?
I know that not turning off TF3D before installing some cabs can make it behave oddly- TF3D restarts, fails to launch at boot, etc...
Mine does the same thing except its just a plain screen until I touch it then it says launching tflo
Might have something to do with locking the device with a PIN/password. Try to disable that and see if many of your problems go away (switching to home screen on coming out of sleep or turning the screen on when in call and taking the phone away from the ear etc).

It has something to do with the PIN lock code, you're right.. now we just need someone to look into this further who knows how to troubleshoot these issues from the back-end.
Bump for more answers!

so i've tried checking on/off Today/Item/TF3D, tried Flight Mode, and it still won't work. i'm talking like only 30-50% of the time it does work. and I never had PIN1 enabled!
i'm no programmer but it is conflicting with apps we install because TF3D works perfectly when the phone was fresh or hard-resetted. btw i'm using 6.1 Stock T-mobile
Hey guys,
Is there a way to completely disable the S Pen to not write/do anything when it is in the air? It drives me nuts cause i can't control it and just scribbles or clicks on things when i don't want it to. I really just want it to click and do things when it is on screen..
Cheers in advance
simple, return it for a warranty
S-Pen
Hi
Go to ‘Setting’ - ‘S-Pen’ and turn off ‘Air view’.
A question to you: Do you have the problem that I have? If the phone goes into sleep whilst I'm reading something (this only happens at night when the ‘stay awake’ camera doesn't see me) and I wake the phone with the home button I go to the home screen and not to the last viewed p-ge. The only way I get to the last viewed page is if I wake the phone with the power putton.
Pressing the home button, just wakes the phone does not take me to the home screen. May its the app you are using, I am reading a PDF using Polaris.

This problem occurs if you freeze S-voice or disable the "Open via home key" in S-voice settings. You can unfreeze s-voice or re-enable the open via home button to get rid of the problem.
It's annoying, I know. Happens to me as well, since I disabled the double click to open s-voice because it induces a lag in the home button.

I've turned that off already. It still doing it though
The tip of your spen is stuck in, most likely. I saw a video of a guy tapping the end of his spen to unstick it, kind of swinging it. Best to get it replaced though.

Possible solution
This is a solution to the infamous S-Pen hover/pressing problem (where it will register a press when it's not touching the screen!)
I tried turning off air view, tried tapping and moving the pressure sensor tip... nothing seemed to fix it properly .. nothing except adjusting the potentiometers in the s-pen
The rough guide:
1. Remove the button from the s-pen (a sharp blade in the middle and levering up should do remove it but be careful it doesn't fly off somewhere unknown!.
2. Adjust the potentiometer (variable resistor) closest to the stylus tip (the writing bit). Turn it clockwise to make it less sensitive and CCW to increase it. A few degrees should be enough.
3. Replace the button - put the tongue side in towards the stylus tip and then rest the button on the stylus. Press the raised end towards the tip and down.
Test (actually you might want to test it before you do step 3!)
A big thanks to kevie88 on YouTube for suggesting it in a comment - a quick web search seemed to confirm it. I made a how to video that might help someone.
I called Samsung support and they are sending me a new s-pen anyway so I thought the above method was worth a go
Good afternoon all, I'm wondering if anyone can help.
My Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 developed an issue with the screen (after travel - where it may have been knocked around a little)...
The tablet boots up fine and the screen appears to work normally.
However once the screen times out and switches off, or the screen is switched off by the power button, it is not possible to get the screen back on.
It appears that it's just the backlight that is not coming back on?.... as the screen responds to touch (you can here the pin code buttons being clicked).... but can't see anything at all on the screen.
Rebooting the tablet from here makes the screen come back on as normal - so as it works like this and just does not come back on after being 'on staandby' I thought it might be a software issue... I did a full factory reset but unfortunately the problem is still exactly the same.
I've had the tablet to bits to see if I could see any cables loose or anything - but everything looks ok - I think (Although it's the first time I've had one apart and wasn't 100% sure which cables were for the screen)
There was nothing obviously disconnected or loose.
Has anyone come across this fault before or can anyone provide any more guidance? Maybe a particular cable to check or how to check it?
Many Thanks,
Tom Leitch
I have the same issue, but I was able to fix it entering the factory mode and pressing the sleep button. That was possible using the calculator and entering (+30012012732+ and then entering *#0*# to get to test mode.
The problem now is that I'm using lineageOS so I don't know how to get to that menu or trigger that sleep button. Anyone?
I've been experiencing a weird issue with every keyboard app I've tried, and I would appreciate some help.
This problem started occurring only after the most recent updates. About 90% of the time that I hit the space bar on the keyboard, it registers as a double tap inserting two spaces. The phone vibrates 2x in rapid succession to indicate that two touches are being registered.
This also happens when I hold the space bar down, except the two phone vibrations are a little further apart when I hold the space bar down. This prevents me from being able to long tap the space bar (switch between language input). No other keys / apps appear to behave this way. I've tried the dialer touchscreen FW update trick as well with no success.
It's been a pain to type anything on my phone and any help would be awesome.

Replying to my own thread here. I think I found a fix (at least for now).
I spoke with Samsung / T-Mobile service and I was able to rule out this being a software issue. I took off my screen protector and the problem still persisted, so it wasn't a screen protector issue. I then took off my case, pressed down firmly on the affected area of the screen, squeezed the top and bottom of the phone firmly together, and squeezed the sides/edges of the phone together firmly around the affected area. I have not been able to reproduce the double tapping issue since.
My best guess is that this might have been a physical issue having to do with the curved shape of the screen?
I think the mods can close this one down. Thanks.
**NEVERMIND - the issue is back. Anyone?**
I've got a new (to me) AT&T Note 4 and only after getting it did I realize I couldn't root it because.....AT&T.... Anyways, it's on MM 6.0.1 now and I'm having a massively irritating issue that I can't find anywhere else online for reference. After roughly 15-30 minutes after I restart the phone, 3 things happen simultaneously.
1: Screen rotation stops working (except when I get a notification for textra from the pulldown menu and reply, then in that reply state, I can turn the phone and it will successfully rotate). I've checked the sensors and they're fine and working properly. I can use the rotate app to force rotation successfully and it doesn't matter if I have the rotation icon on or off, it will not auto rotate which makes nav apps a pain in the butt to have to keep restarting the phone for only a few minutes of working.
2: Home button stops working to go home. The physical button still works if I long press then google app comes up, but short press does nothing.
3: Menu button stops working completely, no response at all short or long press.
If anyone has a reference to point me towards or an idea of what's happening, I would love to figure this out so I don't want to throw my phone out the window after only a week. Thank you!
