Hello,
Jolla SailfishOS seems interesting option as a mobile operating system, at least for a linux enthusiast like myself. During the last week news about interesting hardware adaptations have come to life. I had to try out the rom for the Nexus 7 (2012 grouper) available at the XDA Forums Nexus 7 discussions.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-7/development/rom-sailfish-os-alpha-t2859817
I was surprised how well it worked! Yes there are bugs and things that didn´t work, but for a first alpha release it was quite good. I´m actually still using it although I will soon switch back to some android rom. Yesterday there were some early rumors about HTC Desire HD port not available yet: http://www.jollausers.com/2014/09/sailfish-os-ported-to-htc-desire-hd/
SailfishOS uses Cyanogenmod/Android for hardware drivers (libhybris) just like Ubuntu Touch.
Jolla has released a Sailfish OS Hardware Adaptation Development Kit Documentation giving quite detailed information how to build a version for different Android devices.
http://reviewjolla.blogspot.fi/2014/07/jolla-guide-for-installing-sailfish-os.html
For hardware requirements a device with an ARMv7, supported by CyanogenMod 10.1.x is needed. I quess this should be ok. (Still memory, hardware keyboard support etc. are a question.)
But what do you think? Would you be interested to see this running on the HTC vision and are there anyone advanced enough interested to try porting this? I´m quite sure my own skills would not be enough to handle this task :silly:

Hi,
see this: [Teaser][23-09-14][Guhl] Vision - Sailfish OS 1.0.8.19 [pre alpha]
Working on it.
Have fun - Guhl
Glad to see you around @guhl99
You always do such awesome work, I'll be sure to test when I can spare a few minuets!

Hi demkantor,
I never said that I will abandon the Vision and it's community, I only said that I will abandon Android
Have fun - Guhl
Hearing that I have faith the sailfish project will continue for some time to come! Bonus!
Would Cyanogen Mod be interested in developing for this phone now that we have unlocked bootloader? Given the choice, I'd love Paranoid Android, but I went hold my breath.
CM is already in development . https://github.com/CM-zenfone2
BrokenROM https://github.com/BrokenROM/device_asus_moorefield
Seems that are only for ZE551ML I hope that will be compatible with ZE550ML
If someone can get pure AOSP or CM working, the ROMs will flow out like water... once a base is established building many ROMs is easy. If we get CM, then look for ROMs like Beanstalk, BlissPop, Carbon, , etc. to follow closely behind. Patience, it will happen...

Yay! I really hope Paranoid Android follows suit. I LOVE Pa's Halo feature.
custom roms will help this phone.zenny 2 has one of the worst stock firmware optimization ever and seems like asus cant fix the problems.
Be patient guys, I just sent a couple developers phones this week.

Good to see Asus is showing commitment to this phone. Also great to see you guys are embracing the aftermarket ROM community. More vendors need to be supportive like this.
We love the enthusiast community - you guys are the ones that like to tinker and have contributed to our growth over the years when we were just a motherboard vendor. I bet many of you still have fond memories of building PCs with our components before tinkering with phones .

Awesome! Is there/will there be collaboration with the developers regarding the kernel and device tree from ASUS as well? That would be key to have a fully-working custom ROM in the nearer future (versus the developers having to learn from scratch and sort of fend for themselves, kludging their way along and delaying the end goal).
So exciting!
We post our kernel source, but that's all we can offer, unfortunately. Our software development is done at our Taiwan HQ. But if any devs need anything, just send me a PM and I'll ask our software team.

This makes not much sense to me honestly. Why locking a bootloader in the first place and then stating to push development hard by providing test phones to specified devs?
But still I want to thank you for your commitment in making this phone a huge success - we'll kick Galaxy and Xperia and the likes out once done
Good thing to see Asus sharing to make custom ROMs efficient.
Already on Harfainx's ROM, can't wait to see things going even further.

This is my push from Technical Marketing for North America due to needs and wants for the US market. I place great emphasis on the community that has made many of the previous phones I've owned so great. I want that for the ZF2.
I'll probably start development for this phone once i get it. Never worked with an x86 android device before but it sounds like a fun challenge

Hi,
I've got some sort of situation here concerning building the kernel for ZF2 on my own. I downloaded the kernel source from ASUS website and followed the instructions one by one (download the android source code, use the appropriate toolchain, issue the kernel build command using fhd_defconfig, etc.
The phone boots and works good, BUT:
The phone never gets to deep sleep mode because of hsic_s3_wlock (kernel wakelock from USB HSIC). Could you please ask someone from the technical department to check what is causing this or if any config entry is missing? I am really starting to doubt that this is something I can influence at all
Preface:Lots of great developers have been bringing Cyanogenmod to the Honor 5X, but no one has posted any experimental builds for people to flash. Since I have been able to build CM with the sources other developers have kindly created, I would like to share builds for others to try out on their devices without having to setup an Android build environment.
I would like to clarify a few things:
These builds are UNOFFICIAL and may not be daily driver material.
I just build these ROMs from sources OTHER developers create. See credits below for developer list.
I cannot provide ETAs for the next build, new features, or anything else.
I have only tested these builds on KIW-24, so other variants might not support this ROM.
You are solely responsible for flashing this ROM along with any damage that might result from said flash. See the disclamer.
See post 1 for install instructions and downloads
See post 2 for screenshots and changelogs
Disclaimer: Voided warranties, bricked devices, rogue alarms at 2AM etc. are all your own problem. Neither any developer nor XDA is responsible for any unpleasantness that may result from using this ROM.

To flash this ROM you need to:
Unlock bootloader and install TWRP
Boot into TWRP, perform wipe, and then flash ROM .zip and optional gapps *NOTE* non kiw-24 users see this post for information on flashing.
Reboot, and enjoy CM on the Honor 5X
Unofficial ROM Downloads:
3-10-16 - REMOVED by OP
Optional Gapps Downloads:
http://opengapps.org/ (ARM64, 5.1.1, Full)
Changelog:
3-10-16 - Initial build. (Tested) working features; wifi, BT, (some) data/LTE, normal phone features.
Known bugs:
No rear camera
No fingerprint sensor
No extra kernel features like Tap To Wake
Some cellular/data features may not work. I can't test this so check posts below to see if someone else can confirm.

I can only test on kiw-24. Another user has reported being able to flash ROM on kiw-22. If you or someone else can confirm that this will work on other variants, I'll update the OP.
Nothing was posted cause there is still things that need to be fixed...lol.. Bugs in builds suck..
Awesome! 40 days after US release. ( i know its been around these forums for a little while) but having a flash-able file is a big bonus. Any general working or not working info ?

I didn't mean to imply that other devs where in anyway at fault for no posted builds. I understand the desire to focus on fixing bugs rather than maintaining builds, but there a lot of people, myself included, that don't mind running buggy builds if we can get a taste of CM.
By the way, do you want me to add you to the credits?

My deal is this... I also have builds of BrokenOs (my rom) for this device but i havent posted any for public use, for one reason...Respect... @crpalmer is doing 95% of the legwork for this device over there at CM and Im sure once hes ready and comfortable with where it is, he will announce builds somewhere for it....I think its both premature, and kinda crappy, to make public someones work before even they think its ready for public use.... My 2 cents... Oh, and i dont care about credit for anything..Im just a rom dev, i get enough for that....

Thanks for your input. I certainly do respect @crpalmer along with all the other devs who have worked on this device, and I in no way want to detract from the fame/glory/respect they are due for all their hard work.
@crpalmer or any other dev, if you want me to remove this thread or change it in any way, please let me know. I don't want to step on anyone's toes. I was only trying to help others get a early taste of CM so they didn't have to build it themselves.
Appreciate the credit but I just fetch coffee and hound Huawei when necessary for devs doing actual work.
No harm removing me from the credits.
Thnx to all the devs trying real hard to get these awesome roms on our device.... Really appreciated

Thank you @Bandit Development for the build. While I understand where @InkSlinger420 is coming from I much prefer the state of where @crpalmer has brough CM to over stock. I've been running this for about 4 hours. GPS works great, data and phone work great. Most importantly switching between apps doesn't draaaaaaaag.
Hopefully those responsible for the hard work on this rom will realize this wasn't an attempt to grab the spotlight, but rather a way to placate the masses. Also, needed or not, there is valuable information even in the few early posts because not everyone uses their phones the same way, so one person may never run into a bug that another person sees frequently.
Fingers crossed, but perhaps this thread will also limit the number of posts in the [Dev] thread asking when etc.......... I know I filled it with build questions which probably didn't belong there either. However, I'm trying to learn a little about rom development and one of the first steps to that is to be able to build the rom so you can test your tweaks, or at least see how someone else's changes affect the phone.

It would take me approximately 30 seconds to add automatic nightly builds to my autobuild server (I already generate some builds every night).
Consider that and the fact that I haven't done so as an indication of whether or not I thought builds should be posted right now...

Wow, didn't realize you have a server dedicated to building. Because of this, I did not know that you wanted to wait to post builds. Would you like me to ask an admin to remove this thread? I sincerely don't want to mess with your work, plans, or anything else.

You don't need to remove the thread, I am just pointing out that I don't think that the build is at a level of quality that represents well the work of CyanogenMod.

Well, I'm happy to let you take over cooking builds if you'd like. I certainly don't claim to be able to make quality builds.
I would really appreciate any tips/info you'd like to share that would improve my builds. I've been trying to learn how to fix bugs and contribute to the ROM development, but the task seems to be a rather undocumented and slow-going.
Hi,
My only query for now is which all devices for now fall under preview of development with Lineage OS team?
I guess loads of queries and rumors are around this topic only considering CM shutdown.
Your response here shall serve as a guide and insight to many XDA users. Chers
Huawei P9 Lite pls ?

We're fortunate that the Evolution X team has started working on the 3rd test build for Marble (Poco F5 / Redmi Note 12 Turbo). Development just began yesterday. Thankfully, there already prebuilt kernels/modules so test ROMs boots successfully. So far, SMS, NFC, Cam and other basic functions are operational. A crowd funding activity started yesterday and for those who might be interested to support may do so as the target is about halfway met.

Hi to everyone! I'm Joey, Lead developer and Founder of the Evolution X ROM.
You may have seen my work on other devices, specifically work on Mi A1, K20 Pro and Mi 11 as those are devices I maintain. I've chosen to purchase a Poco F5 due to the specs-price ratio. I think the benefits I'll get with the device will greatly coincide with the new community I will be handling.
I'm excited to build for you guys soon and hopefully Xiaomi or a different dev completes the missing parts of our OSS kernel in order for us to be able to release these builds in an Official manner via XDA.
Kindly help contribute to the current crowdfund if you think it's worth supporting our project and to bring an official ROM straight to this device as early as now. Hoping that we can get the device before next week.

We will include additional stuff like those once we start work on OSS vendor. For now, we're using a prebuilt vendor and kernel.
Also regarding the crowdfund, we've reached $323 and around $146 remains! Help contribute if you guys can!
