Seen a few sites mention the Z1C has Wireless Charging.

I think I'm going to hunt a few mobile shops for the official magnetic dock tomorrow.
Get a look at more cases too. This Roxfit Book Case is expensive trash.
I think it might be possible to make a qi receiver with a magnetic clamp to go on the side pins, with the pad inside a back case. I wonder if anyone will do this? Like the universal micro usb ones, but with xperia magnetic connector in the phone end.

QI wireless charging standard
So you are sure that Z1 Compact did not support QI wireless charging standard?

Yes, Z1 Compact does NOT support Qi. It has magnetic charging port though.

So, i was messing around with my ZL and i put it up on my palm wireless charging puck to see if it would rest on it, how surprised i was when the phone was drawn TO the puck. It is magnetically pulled to the puck. This has me thinking, could the ZL support wireless charging? I don't know why else it would have such magnets in it(assuming thats what his is). I could not find any disassembly info on the ZL to confirm/deny this possibility.
Does anyone have a QI charging pad they could test with the ZL? Or disassembly info on the device? Assuming that there are magnets in there they have to be there for a reason...
I picked up my ZL today and tried it with my LG Qi charging pad.
No luck.
But it did have the same attraction as what you noticed with your Palm puck.

Maybe a wireless receiver patch like the one below will be useful. But i do not know if there are any for the Xperia Z or ZL.
Whoever who find it please post here. Thanks
Please search for brando-wireless-power-bank-4800mah-review at the the-gadgeteer.com
BTW does anyone know which wireless standard is going to be the defacto industrial standard ?
It looks like SONY will support the Qi standard with their new models of phones from 2014

Can anyone verify this? If it really works with Z1? i bought one and its not charging. I use a 2.1A Innergie Plug with a 2.1Amp input which is the same current as the original charger.
When you buy things from China/Hong Kong, you may get something dodgy - not saying you definately will, but when you hear about exploding iphones and whatnot, I think it is down to that.
I just bought the official charger for the Xperia Z Ultra, and took out the cable from the dock and just use that personally.
Have now 4 magntic charging cables dismantled from the dock, all 4 work perfectly and grant fast charging ..........................

Got one of these a couple of weeks ago and no problems with it. Using it with the official charger and seems to charge fine. Guess I got one that was not assembled on a Friday afternoon.

no it doesn't
and the Z Ultra Dock and Z1 dock are the same except for the slot as the phones are different thickness - I use a ZU dock with my Z1
and to the OP - the Sony original charger has the data pins shorted out to enable fast charging when the phone detects this - it is the phone that decides whether to fast charge or not based on the shorted pins

Thank you, what do you mean wit " the OP"?, Which is the data pin?
Other hand, do you know if the cable has any polarity?
OP = Original post
yes there is polarity - +
The USB has 4x pins/connections - + and two data pins in the middle, as the mains charger has no use for data connection they are shorted out on the charger to enable the phone to identify a charger with fast charge ability
you could have a 2.1 amp charger connected to the phone but if the data pins are not shorted out the phone will limit the charge rate at 0.5 amps or 500ma
I was searching for magnetic cables of Sony Z1 and I found this on ebay: ebay.com/itm/Genuine-Original-Sony-Magnetic-Charging-Cable-for-Xperia-Z-Ultra-Z1-L39H-New-/251364357743?pt=US_Cell_Phone_PDA_Cables_Adapters&hash=item3a867bb66f
I am not sure if this is an original and it is sell only on China. Anyone already buy this and know if it is original from Sony?
I've got one on the way to me now. As soon as i get it I'll come back with my findings for you!

I have two of those. They are NOT genuine, but a rather good attempt at KIRFing it.
They do work, but the magnet is a little on the weak side. The connector part seems somewhat deeper than the genuine item, so in all likelihood, this will work cases (provided they aren't too thick).

yea its not original but good as original would be, IF sony actually ever made one. lol
i bought same cable from other side, before it was available on ebay.
i would say the price has decreased a bit so you guys are getting good deal here.
any review ?
If is not Original they made a pretty good fake job. I get DK31 and I am worry if that dock is not fake either.
So where is the OMG Sony Magnetic cable?
I've had the cable for a week or so now and am pretty happy with it. Fairly sure it is just a good Chinese knock off but everything works as expected. Makes charging a breeze by not having to open the flap every time, only issue is it is a bit hard to line up in the dark.

Could you tell us what the average time of charging is? (lets say from 15% to 100%)
I'll look for for you, i usually just plug it in as i go to sleep and it charges it perfectly.

I have original DK31, but phone can't be charged through usb on laptop. DK31 can charge phone only with wall socket.
But it's better than micro-usb.
quick question on the subject, while the dock always keep your phone inserted at the same place soyou don't mix the positive and negative contacts, the magnetic cable doesn't seem to have any alignment indicator, does it matter which oriantation you connect it? or both sides work? i'm worried the wrong side could fry the phone...

Hi,
Is there a cable to charge the battery of the phone by the USB port of the laptop?
I got these from an online seller here in the Philippines, it says its genuine but i cannot find any official sony links for these. And one thing i noticed, it charges very slow compared to the one that came with the dock.

Because i'm dutch i'm ordering the one from Marktplaats
As I have read in amazon.de and amazon.co.uk about any chinese recharging magnetic cables, most of people leave utterly negatives ones, they tell after some time it does not recharge because of some magnetic problem, I didn#t really get what exactly. I would advice to use instead original docking station from Sony, again most of comments in both sources were positives, That is why I don#t trust in chinese cables, phone is too expensive to take a risk ...
Ordered this product. Will post a detailed review for everyone. Including charging times.

Yes, are compatible and the dock can still be used !
there are also a new dock for the Z3 series:

The pins in both docks are the same but the cut-out for the phones and inserts will be different.
The only advantage of getting the new one (DK48) over the old one (DK32) will be because the Z1 Compact (9.5mm) and the Z3 Compact (8.6mm) have different thickness, the new dock will be a better fit than the old one.

Got the adapter and the cable yesterday.
I prefer the cable because the adapters design lets it disconnect very easily while charging.
The magnets are very very strong compared to the original sony ones! With both i can even lift the xperia z ultra without it falling off the cable. The original sony one disconnects directly.
The only think bugging me is the the charging port design:
the original sony one has a flat housing on the contacts side. This one has a "U" Shape (to support itself at the case). i think this could get problematic when using a case without much space at the magnet port.
I'd like to post pictures but my camera is currently not working. I'll upload some tomorrow!
I hope my English is good enough
//Edit: it worked now, heres the pic!
Can someone please verify that these three magnetic dock chargers - DK30, DK31 and DK48 - deliver the same amount of charge to the phone in terms of amperes/watts, etc.
I found varying information online...
It's just a cable and box, what will determine how it charges will be what charger you plug into it at the wall socket. (don't use a computer usb port or be prepared to wait a loooong time for it to charge)
Wow simple answer, thanks a lot techguyone that clears out the doubt in my mind!
Polarity?
Can someone check pins polarity? Where is positive?
I have disassembled craddle, and I need to resolider it again...
Help me, please....
Just to be clear, do you owners have to mess with a battery door every time you charge this device? Is that a pain? Does the door wear out over time?
No I don't mess with the USB flap at all, since I've bought a magnetic charging cable.
It does charge slower for me, but that doesn't hurt since I most likely charge it over night.
My case doesn't allow using the magnetic port, so I've been using the door. It does get a little annoying, but you get used to it fast. If you're careful with your phone, I would recommend using a magnetic charger without a case, just screen protectors on the front and back. I am not a careful person.
