Already overclocked? Then forget it. More perfomance only with another phone.
You can always try to use a kernel that uses bfs but still there is no miracles

I really want a new phone but just cant afford at the moment btw thanks for the fast reply
i have the same problem. the stock rom was terrible about performance. you click to the contacts and wait for a few seconds for the black screen. then contacts come.. in case of emergency. .; for example you need to cal some1 for help, until you call they will kill you
i changed to cyanogenmod. it is better. still not so good but we shouldnt expect a high performance from a 3 years old device.

Yeah you are right we can't expect a high performance for a such old device but i got cyanogenmod 9 with custom kernel and few tweaks on it and now it runs pretty smooth i can play games like gta vice city asphalt 8 and even modern combat with some fps drops but it is still playable.

which cyanogenmod are you usig ? and about overclock thing . i am always worried to damage the device. you know if something get damaged because of overclocking.
what i want from this phone is ; long batyery life ( at least 1 day total from 07:00 to 23:00 ) (come this shouldnt be so hard )
plus a medium performance. i dont want it to stuck and force me to wait when i really need something to do. when this happen i exactly want to raise my phone and throw it to the wall .
i am not going to play so big games. or even little ones. i dont play games.. so just a little performance is important too. what do you offer me.
I own a W and I'm happy with the performance.... Don't forget that this device is a SINGLE CORE device. You ain't EVER going to get S4 performance out of it. If you remember, Samsung left the W behind at Gingerbread. Without the hard work of devs like Arco68 we would never have experienced ICS let alone JB.
KK Roms have just started to become really useable for the W, in theory they should favour phones like the W.....why not give one of them a try.....
Otherwise your options are....
1) put up with the performance while reminding yourself you *could* still be running stock GB.
2) develop a ROM to suit your performance needs yourself.
3) paint a nice big cross on a blank piece of wall and practice your aim.
But please stop complaining about lack of performance..... It shows a certain lack of respect for all the devs that have given their time to us so that we can run the latest android version on our W's.........

I am using cyanogenmod 9 because it suits me very well. I installed few mods and tweaks on it. i like my phone to have the stock samsung UI so i installed touchwiz theme and launcher and now the phone looks good and performs good. Dont worry you want damage your phone with overclocking, just test a frequency and run stability test and let it pass few tests. I've overclocked many CPUs on computers so i think this is the same thing. And for the battery life, if i play games like gta vice city and san andreas i get 6-7 hrs but when i use phone for calls only it lasts more than 1 day. For me this device is very good since i can't afford a new one. I am also learning how to build roms so i might start making roms and practicing myself when i have free time (I dont have much )

what noo, wtf u installed on it !! now when u install stock rom for the first time, the rom works amazing faster, even faster than any CM rom , well im using the stock rom for almost a week, and its working amazing faster !!, What im using :
Fast Facebook
Gmail
Youtube
Mobo Market
System app uninstaller ( removed some stock apps )
....
I use my phone for calling , SMS, facebook, youtube and gmail for checking my mails
And im very happy with it, i dont think im geting back to Cyanogenmod
And what i would to see form GB its a transparent status bar
idk i dont like stock rom. samsung failed on that. at least i think so. plus, not giving an uptade to such a device is a very wrong decision by samsung. cyanogenmod is way better then stock rom. it has more features..

Hey there
I honestly gave up. I have been trying ROMs, kernels, tweaks, and everything but the battery life is just terrible.
I have mainly been using Team Venom's Viper ROM, though, and yesterday I decided to install Alex-V's kernel with s2w feature or w.e. It is supposed to work well with Viper and be very stable. However, I am not seeing it and the battery life seems to have gotten worse. Also some applications like File Explorer randomly quit (Application has stopped working).

My screen brightness is not even set to automatic, but very, very low so I don't know how it is eating 72% of the battery and why it dropped all that much in just 9 damn minutes!
Is there a way to uninstall Alex-V's kernel and get back the stock one that came with the ROM or do I have to reflash the ROM?
Thank you
If you are willing to take the time to read the OP's from the viper thread and read .....
You will find a venom flasher that flashes kernels fully automatic !
And a kernel has to adapt with a few charge cycles .... after a couple of days it should get more stable.
And the Alex-V kernel IS the stock kernel but he just added the S2W feature !
Thank you, mate. Would you be kind to explain to me what the swipe 2 wake feature is and does exactly? lol
I installed that kernel as a recommendation from someone who has been using Viper for a while, so I cannot say I took my time to read and learn about kernels in general, or Alex-V's specifically. And I viewed from page 1 to 5 but everyone seemed to be well acquainted with kernels and the S2W feature.

did not know it was that time again
and freaking search that is the only way you learn....or else you end up bricking your phone for not taking a couple of hours to read what you installing on your phone..and please do not say you do cause you clearly have not got a clue...or else you would not be asking the silly questions you are asking now
S2W will replace the need to press power or volume buttons in order to wake the device and light the screen.
It works by swiping left to right to wake the device, or right to left to send it to sleep mode.
The swipes are done on the 3 touch button panel on the bottom of your One X.
It'll work in the lockscreen.

s2w is taking also alot of battery in standby because normally the buttons are off ...but with s2w they are on and take therefore also battery in standby ..and therefore i hate this feature i had then so bad battery life and used other like faux's heavy tweaked kernel or even stock or so without s2w and it was better...

are you gamer or so normal user ? little bit gaming and more other things like browsing etc?
I am going to give it a couple of days and see if there are any improvements.
@Goku, thank you for your advice. I know it was a mistake not reading and doing research beforehand because I usually like doing that with ANY device or gadget, so you're dead on. However, no offense but whether my questions are 'silly' or not is pretty subjective and the reason why I am on the forum is to ask questions, learn, benefit from those who are more experienced, and eventually (hopefully) be able to help newbs like myself when they need something.
Thanks for your help, everyone, I truly appreciate it.
@One-x-master Thanks for explaining what the feature does. I don't think I'll ever need it, so I might be flashing the stock kernel again very soon. I'm going to wait a couple of days and let the kernel settle, however, and see if there are improvements in battery life and overall performance.

I would say it depends on owner's behavior. If he likes to hold the phone directly by hand, the kernel will consume amounts of battery.
Show-p did mentioned after screen off kernel sleep and touchscreen register remaining active, any contact will wake the kernel to check if the touches is the correct steps or else.

Hello, maybe you should try black pearl rom, that rom provided me 4hours and 15mins screan time on auto brightness and 3% left >.>( it was 1st charge after the rom was flashed), also i had a little bit over 1 hour of phone calls and 95% of the time phone was connected on a very poor wi-fi 2 bars tops and every 10-15mins discconected/reconected.
My usage was mainly reading stuff from XDA, facebook, some skype , few app downloads, mail (no sync at all) gsm network as well , not that i want 2g it's just i can't get 3g on my place lol, anyway if you cut the 1+ hour of talk time i'm sure i could've reach 5hours.
Anyway give it a try with stock kernel that comes with it . i'm currently on that rom but this time with NCX kernel and seams to give a little bit more juice, maybe i could get an extra 20 tops 30 more mins at screan on time with it.

Gotta agree with you..I don't have such a problem with battery life, even with s2w switched on..I've great battery life with Faux kernel and s2w..
Right ladies and gents...Not going to bore you with long ass intros and long guides i just want to show you that since i updated my hboot and started using Viper X i have been getting exceptional battery life.
This is with Stock Kernel guide
Now you are asking how is that possible. Simple. First of all make sure you flash stock kernel which you can find here.
Once you flashed the rom and fully updated to the latest OTA leave everything on as it is. I have not messed with any of the syncing of apps or anything else. I just left everything as it is.
Now get yourself either System Tuner or FauxClock apps. They are both cpu apps and highly recommendable that i use. Or just use the Viper Cpu app in tweaks. Now set the following:
Governor: Ondemand
Scheduler : Noop
Cpu clock frequencies to: 1.2GHz as max and leave the min at 102MHz or even right at the lowest
You can not UV stock kernel so no point asking that question.
Now i use wifi on all the time when i am at home. But see here is the trick. When my screen is off i make sure that wifi is sleeping as well. How i do that..Simple.
Settings - Wifi - press Menu - advanced - keep wifi on during sleep and just tick only when plugged in.
Autosync is left on and all my emails are getting synced and i get instant emails when my wifi is on. I use AppyGeek and the widget gets updated with the latest stories all the time as i have that synced all the time.
I do not use Facebook but i do use Twitter and that is on all the time and i also listen to Spotify and Whatsapp is on as well to get instant messages whenever i am on wifi..
Now i do not know if this helps anyone but i just wanted to show what i did and i am managing great battery life on ViperX and this is based on first charge as well..Always make sure you let the rom and kernel to settle and always give a few charge cycles before judging the battery life..
Use this guide as well if you want for other JB roms and you will see that sticking for the moment with stock kernel and using what i have done will work for you like a treat...Call this if you want Rock Solid Config v1.0
Plus use this app. Highly recommend it and that way you can see what is eating your battery and what is keeping your phone awake when screen is off..More info go to the app thread.

Renovate battery results with stock kernel
Nice guide but your screen on seams to be low Imo, i get avarage 4-5hrs without underclocking, simply using power saver from time to time. today before i put my phone on charge i had 1hr 58mins screen on time wifi / sync and everything else on phone was 22hrs 44min active 1hr 26mins of phone call and brigntness 30% left me with 58% of battery. Didn't use powersaver at all, Underclocking sometimes can cause more battery drain then leaving it at 1500 . for example if you do some task that requires lets say 1300mhz with your settings on cpu phone will have to use 2 cores since you limited it onto 1200ghz 1 core and 4cores 1100, Anyway this is just my theory about this lol , don't take it seriously just sometimes my battery lasts longer without power saver or underclocking then leaving it as it is, it all depends on the task and stuff you do. Anyway thx for the guide im sure it will help to alot of ppl =)
IMHO, nothing out of extraordinary here.
I'm on stock and i have the same result, if not better. I manually turn Wifi off when screen is off which is the same as the setting that you applied (Wifi ON - only when plugged in).
People here are going crazy about battery life which is something trivial. Just forget about this and plug the phone when it's empty!

I like the Rom a lot, thank you for providing such an awesome Rom. What i'm not getting right is the battery life of some of the other users. The battery life of my phone seems to be a bit better then stock, but not a lot better. Screen times are between 2 hours and 3 hours and 3 hours seems to be the max with my usage of the phone. I did a lot to improve that battery life. Kernel (android os) seems to be the big battery absorber. I use my phone normally, lot of whatsapp and facebook and checking other news of social sites. Hardly playing any games or something, hardly using GPS and bluetooth. Is that a normal battery life for that usage?

So, questions about your fipo:
- When switching off wifi when screen is off, do you still get incomings whatsapp messages, facebook messages, e-mail etc?
- You're talking about a good battery life, what is good in your opinion?

Good battery life is to be able to go through a day without having to charge your phone a couple of times...Screen on if you can get anything over 3hrs is pretty good..Even 2.5hrs is pretty decent in my eyes.
when switching off wifi when screen is off no you will not get messages...once you turn the screen on though every single message will come through..
If you download deep sleep battery saver from the market you can adjust the time that the wifi goes off during the screen is off and you can have it so every hour say about five minutes you can get messages coming through if you feel that you want them
Gonna start testing battery life on Renovate now..Await results in the next few days.. Trying different governor this time round
Im using system tuner you recommended. I applied governor and cpu clock correctly I think. But Where do I find scheduler?

Leave scheduler as it is. Now need to mess with that. It will be on Noop. Unless you are using Trips kernel

Yesterday I bought a Huawei ascend p6 for my wife. Even when holding it in hand, I feel like its design. After a day of use, I feel quite disappointed in its performance. When running the game like candy crush, subway surf, ... I find it does not run smoothly, or say exactly shocked. I wondered if I run the game require higher configuration will how?
According to you, is caused by the configuration of the machine or the rom? Is there any way to solve this problem?
U can try to run it in performance mode.

The cpu and GPU locked in a certain frequency power can be achieved not so serious and fluent game approach.
The first machine to ROOT then RE Manager to set inside the file!
1. Open sys-devices-system-cpu-cpu0-cpufreq-cpuinfo_block_freq, use a text editor to open, modify the value of 600,000 or 800,000 or 700,000 are cpu frequency is locked, save and exit after completion of editing,
2. Locate scaling_cpu_lock_nun, a method using phase inside the 0 modified to 4. It is locked cpu cores. Save and exit editing can! In power management policy settings in a super-power standby.
GPU in accordance with slim post to unlock! But I set 480000 360000.
Heat is also not so great to play the game is very smooth! Power consumption is not serious enough for everyday use heat is also better!
I charge 100% after setting the screen brightness is not open to the minimum WIFI playing whitewater boats two effects 30 minutes of high power consumption 23% is power! But look at the beep beep miles 720 miles to see 24 minutes of animation power at about 7%! Several times hovering at about 7%.
After rebooting modify things will revert to re-edit

Hi there, im not very code technical, From what I can see, have you made the phone not get as hot and gave it better proformance, the only thing thats putting me off buying this phone is that even though it has a snapdragon S4 pro it isnt as good as the Nexus 4 which is cheaper and that it gets way to hot ( someone had a screen shot of the phone getting so hot that asked to close apps )
Many thanks

well... Based on what I know about this phone, the CPU is not a Snapdragon S4 pro but a K3V2E developed by Huawei itself. That might explains the performance issue. Huawei locked the CPU frequency and GPU frequency for power saving reasons, but it locked it too much.

No way! How could they lie? Do you think its a Cortex A7? I only ask because the battery life seems pretty good and as far as i know 1.5ghz is the max an A7 can go, also if the performance isnt great, that would be why?

Hi
Im satisfied with my new P6, but honestly the battery life is very bad. My phone 's been 5 hours on battery, and has 50%. I have disabled Google services, wifi, gps and cleaned background apps. I dont even keep my screen brightness high !
I also get sometimes mobile data lost, i've 3g/h on statusbar, but data is not moving. Going to airplane mode and back makes it work again. This happens few times a day.
I have B106, the build which came with the phone. Should i update to B107 or something else? Im in Finland with Elisa / Saunalahti network and i've heard about connection issues on B107. Is it still better than 106, or is there some other build that i should try?
And have you any info about coming versions from Huawei? Thanks alot
We have in Germany by default B104 and the B107 is much better ... at the moment I have a beta B111 on my phone and that is still better than B107 ... I think there will be better roms soon.
Hope that there will be custom rom possible soon, the test possibility is much better then ...
Find out whats causing the drain. Go to settings-battery(asetukset-akku) and see if there is a program misbehaving. Stopwatch prevents the phone from going to deep sleep and therefore drains lots of power even when the screens off, other programs might do it aswell.
If you get 4-7 hours of screen on time id say that its pretty normal, although i do not play any games that consume loads of power. And i think browsing with wifi consumes less power than mobile data.
Ill try to take some battery stats with syncs, gps and google now on. So youll have something to compare with.
Hello I'm sure there's a thread somewhere but I'm curious to what battery life ppl are getting from their 4.2.2 roms.. I'm currently using beanstalk with moderate use I average 8-10 hours.. What's your average battery life and using what ROM?
Sup dude, I've been switching back and forth between thedude's Hellybean and clkener's Liquid black. Both rock solid Roms. I generally tweak my Roms the same and usually get at least a day of battery from them while listening to music on my sd card at work for 5-7 hours a day. On the weekend when I don't have to deal with work calls and no music I'll get anywhere between and 32 and 40 hours.

Dam that's way better than what I'm getting what tweaks did u do
First thing I usually do in a new flash is install Trickster Mod and set min and max clock speeds to 192 and 1026 MHz respectively. Sometimes I'll shoot the max up to 1200 and change, but most of the time I'm fine with 1026. Then still in trickster I'll go to mpdecision and turn the idle_freq down to 192.
These are from ClKener. Go into voltage settings and and drop all the settings by 200000. (This is generally a pain in the ass but at least you use the overall controls on the top, but you still have to tap it a couple of hundred times) Change the governor to ondemand and the scheduler to bfq. Make sure you set it to set on boot.
I also use the app Llama. I have it tuned so generally my mobile data is off and network is turned to 2g (you can still make and receive phone calls and text messages in 2g). At home my WiFi automatically comes on, but soon as I leave in the morning the WiFi is turned off. And when my screen comes on away from home, then 3g+2g is switched on and so is mobile data. My screen is almost always set to 0 brightness. I think that's all of it.

Battery life reduction issue? blame Project butter. I might sound stupid but try android 2.3.x and you will easily get 4 days I bet.
Im atm using Carbon rom 4.2.2, By I am the forst. and normal usage im getting 2 days easily also OC to 2Ghz and governor at interactive.
I will recommend you that rom.

Ya, I agree. After they had the Project butter thing, my phone's battery went from at least ~12 hours to around ~8 hours. I have been jumping from ROM to ROM since CM7, and I have to say, once we got up to Jellybean, battery life went a step down.

Also If you're using CWM try running darkside super wipe, and if TWRP try formatting preload too before flashing. GB lacks Project butter which means laggy UI and animations. But if you want little of both try ICS best after GB. And if you want to stay latest Give Carbon rom a try by I am the forst you will see huge difference in 1 try. also do not forget to callabirate battery after new freash install of rom.

For the record, I got 5 full hours of screen time yesterday on Hellybean, and that was with the regular clocking and my screen brightness set on automatic. Most days after using my phone like normal, I will put it on the charger with 40 to 50% left. Are you going long periods without a signal or something? If I do that cell standby eats my battery.

I have had my OP3 for 2 years. I have noticed the battery life is much shorter, overall burn-in on the screen (screen is getting dim even on max brightness), and the overall performance is much slower than it was even a year ago. Am I the only one experiencing this? Is OnePlus doing similar to Apple where the CPU is throttling as the battery degrades?
Edit:
Using latest beta build, but the same issues persist regardless of using stock, beta, or custom roms. I am also rooted, but notice the slow speeds even with a fresh ROM reinstall with everything stock.
No OnePlus can't do what Apple did, we would notice in a second. You should try new kernels or go with stock if you aren't using stock already. Try different ROMs if you want to confirm your hardware condition. Other than that the decreasing speed is normal, the device is getting older and it is getting tired.
I've tried multiple different roms and kernels. The issue is close to the same across all ROMs. Just now opened a twitter notification and it took several seconds to open rather than instantly like you'd expect.
Was just wondering if it is worth a try with one of the $25 batteries on Amazon. Will likely just start looking to upgrade.
Highly doubt you have burn-in. Almost doesn't happen these days anymore unless you abuse your phone. Regarding that your phone is slow. Did you try a full reset yet? Have you done any tweaks or something? My phone is hitting the 2 year mark with only a new battery and camera (common focus problem). And it is still like it was at day 1.
It definitely has image burn in. If I put a full screen white image on the phone, it is all off-white except the middle part of the notification bar, I can even see burn in for the static icons like wifi, battery, LTE, etc...
I have done a full reset just a month ago, but didn't help. Even when completely stock including recovery then tried with a few different kernels. still very slow compared to new.
You did say you have a new battery, considering my battery life is crap right now, I may just give that a try. OEM parts are pretty cheap on witrigs.
I would definitely recommend using bluspark kernel on oxygen os. If you enable the fastlane feature and set both of the cores to 35 it will be blazing fast and no lag what so ever. Try that and let us know how your phone reacts.

I would definitely recommend using bluspark kernel on oxygen os. If you enable the fastlane feature and set both of the cores to 35 it will be blazing fast and no lag what so ever. Try that and let us know how your phone reacts.

I reset and reflashed OOS and installed bluspark. Also limited the apps I installed too. It seems to be a bit faster. Will report back if I get any slowing.
Still no issues. I was thinking and realized my issue. I had two separate profiles on my phone, a home profile and work profile. I assumed that the inactive profile automatically shutdown whenever switching like on a PC when you sign out of one account and into another. I am guessing this isn't the case with android. The inactive profile continued to run in the background causing my slowdown and battery drain issues.
Moving forward, multirom is probably the way to go for me if I decide to go back to having separate work and home work spaces.

It definitely has image burn in. If I put a full screen white image on the phone, it is all off-white except the middle part of the notification bar, I can even see burn in for the static icons like wifi, battery, LTE, etc... .

I didn't see a fastlane using Kernel Auditor. It has been so long since I have adjusted kernel level settings, I don't really remember a lot of it.
Edit: I just did some more searching and found the settings. I enabled and set to 35 on big and little governers. Thanks for the advice.

Do you life in a area with alot of sun? Still don't have burn in, sad to see that you do tho.
Also keep in mind that once android gets above 50% storage performance starts to degrade.
I have same issues. My op3 overheating and lagging alot while playing pubg. Any solution?

There really is nothing you will be able to do about that. Those kind of games are really just pushing mobile hardware in directions that it just wasnt designed to go. Until we get a real cooling system (20 years or so before they shrink the liquid cooling small enough maybe) Gaming like that will always cause the device to heat up alot and lag. Its the nature of the beast.

No, Not even a new phone will really help. Besides the hardware in the 3 and 3t will still be able to handle anything Google tosses at it for a few more years yet. You hear it all over the place on every device. No device has a proper cooling setup for gaming of that nature. Even the S9 with Fortnite is getting hot after playing for a while.
This is a side effect of trying to game on something that was not made to game like that. Ill be honest. If you want to game like that save it for the PC until the hardware can support it. Other wise you will just have to deal with the heat and the lag.
