[Q] Pixel offset after replacing screen glass/digitizer? - LG Nitro HD

Greetings,
I just replaced the screen glass on my LG P930 (Nitro) and I noticed that for everything I touch (icons, keyboard keys) I must touch a little above where it actually should be. I was fairly sure it's not just a matter of the phone being put back together sloppily (I did it myself and I've done this before), especially since everything seems to fit together tightly without a lot of room for play.
Anyone experienced this on a smartphone in general, and know a remedy?
Thanks,
Owen

[Q] Xperia arc screen too sensitive?

Hi all,
I simply love this phone, but I'm facing a situation that my screen is too sensitive. The home screens were so sensitive a few programs were started without my knowledge. It got better after I switched to Launcher Pro.
However, it is still too sensitive in other areas. When I'm scrolling down, say, the apps in Market, I'll always end up selecting a few items accidentally before I reach the end of the list.
I've used HTC Desire in the past and I'm quite sure the problem is not due to me.
Does anyone else face the same problem, or I have a hardware problem? Or software problem? Can I be tweaked by any means?
Any feedback would be useful! Thanks!!!
KG
I faced this problem before... while swiping, apps accidentally open. But instead of "too sensitive" i thought it's insensitive... because a short swipe was sometimes interpreted as a tap (maybe because the swipe was not fully detected?).
Anyway, I had 2 layers on my device... the pre-applied sheet and another screen protector that came with the box.
I removed the second layer, leaving only the pre-applied sheet, and all is well again... no more accidental "taps"

Dude, you mean the cause was the screen protector that came with the phone???

For my case, maybe 2 layers is just too thick
I'm having the same problem. And that solution seems to make sense. I would give it a try, but if the problem still occurs, I'd be wasting one screen protector..

That was how I solved my problem. I actually put on the spare screen protector because when I got the set I didn't realize there was already a pre-applied layer.
Don't blame me if it doesn't work for you
perhaps some of you guys just have the shakes?! ;-p
I guess the screen is never to perfect for everyone.
kargtan, I've noticed the same about the tap sensitivity - I often accidentally "tap" when I mean to swipe. Came from an iPhone 3g and didn't notice this on that device. Might be a matter of getting used to it, not sure. Have you gotten any feedback from others in other forums?
I've noticed this too, and put it down to the screen protector. It's not android OS causing it, never had the problem on my htc hero...
However, now that i've gotten used to the phone it doesnt do it any more - guess my brain has automatically trained itself to drag the screen a little bit more firmly or something.
One thing i have noticed about the arc is: because the bezel around the screen is so thin, i often accidentally launch apps just by holding it. My fingers wrap around slightly & touch the edges of the screen.
Does any of you have problems while trying to swap a screen from another and instead of swapping you get like a "bounce" and stay on the same screen? because that happens to me all the time, I came from an htc Legend and this is making me crazy !
btw, this happens to me if I hold the phone with my right hand and try to do the swapping with my thumb, the only way to get it right is to hold the phone with my left hand and use the index of my right hand
Screen too/not sensitive
Hi guys,
I think the problem arises from the slowness of the phone, not "too sensitive". I used to use the HTC Desire in the past and I was very used to the screen scrolling very quickly. In contrast, the arc is slower and hence the screens don't scroll as fast and hence my way of handling the Desire would cause the problems stated.
I did a few things since my last posting and it seems better now:
Replace the SE Home with Launcher Pro - this seems to have improved on the speed of the phone, and hence better responsiveness to the touch.
Rooted the phone and uninstalled some stock programs.
Removed useless widgets on the desktops.
Adjusted my way of scrolling as someone has suggested.
This is quite frustrating at times, especially so because other than this problem, this phone is a gem, especially its form factor, the sound quality and most importantly, the quality of the camera.
I might sell the phone once the company issues me with a Blackberry (DANG!), but I am kinda unwilling because I have been taking lots of photos with my Android phones and these photos are generally well-liked by my Facebook friends.
agree with bezel thing and hard to use thumb.
noticed arc screen (the screen guard perhaps ) easily get oily and slippery.
had to wipe phone and wash hand so often that make me like some sort of disorder.
Don't know why you guys seem to be having problems... I don't have any issues with my screen swipes at all... smooth and fast.. both on stock and Launcher Pro..
Same deal here. But that's because the screen is sensitive beyond the display area including the black border, and the edge is too narrow. When I use one hand swiping or tapping, the palm of my hand touches the black border. The screen registers two touches in quick succession and thus jumps.
In Phone keypad, enter *#*#7378423#*#* (the numbers mean SERVICE word in keypad), you can go into test mode. Select [Service test]->[Touch Screen] to test the badly touch screen of SE Phones.
You will discover when you swipe the edge of touch screen, the touched result is very not satisfied. The lines you swiped will not accurate and appear like jags, or stick on the edge of the screen.
The touch panel made in China...? ;-)
Me too!
Hey!
i also have a xperia tipo....and i too have the sensitive problem
Could also be a kernel problem?
I remember I installed a kernel a while back that would make my screen hypersensitive; just hovering over the screen would already activate it!
I don't remember which one, it was back in the GB days. But I'm pretty sure it can be changed in the kernel.

[Q] Touchscreen crack?

Hi, I am in dire need of help...
I dropped my phone, broke the screen and swapped it out for a brand new one. During the swap I managed to make a very small crack at the edge of the new screen... Now the top 3/4 inch doesn't respond.
I find this very strange since when my screen was completely shattered touch worked normally, but now a small crack and it doesn't work? Does that sound normal? Could there maybe be any other underlying problems?
Any help or input would be appreciated...
Thanks
You clearly don't like your DHD and DHD don't like you
Joke.
Well, this surely sounds like interesting but as far as i know, you managed to break the connectors of touchscreen during the replacement. Touchscreen fails (although not completely) = you clearly need a new one, if it is even possible to replace. And about the thing, that this didn't happen when u dropped the phone is because it might only damaged it a little and it still worked, but when changing the glass, the damage extended.
The touchscreen is a layered device. When you shattered it you only broke the outside layer. Sounds like you broke another layer plus the outside layer this time.
Thanks for the replies guys.
Layered digitizer, didn't know that. That makes sense to me because the crack in my new screen isn't superficial (meaning I can't "touch" the crack, it's on the inside I guess).
Thanks again, I guess I'm buying a new digitizer and hope that works, sucks not being able to touch the top portion of the screen!

[Q] LG Optimus G cracked screen/newbie

So I'm a newbie here, I dropped my LG OPTIMUS AT&T PHONE, and only the top part of touch screen works.
I'm wondering as I've replaced screen/digitizers on my HTC's and iPhones. But never anything this new!
My brother usually helps me, but he's not available so I turn to you all. Someone please help me. I have very important stuff on that phone and need it working asap. Long story short, I have custody court soon and a lot of my info that will help bring my kids home is on there in many different areas of phone. Plus I want my damn phone back. So question is, if the lower 3 touch buttons font work and the top half does, the crack is in lower right corner of phone, its just the glass the screen itself is not damaged, I could be wrong, but visibly looks fine. Anyone have any knowledge or can advise me on wth to do. Please
If you have recovery installed..do nandroid backup, copy it to you pc then to another optimus g. OR you could use Airdroid App to control phone through pc. I think Youtube had a video regarding disassembling...
Hi, the digitizer is broken, I just replaced mine because of this. The screen is actually really easy to replace but dont forget to use a lot of heat to remove the digitizer because its glued into place.

[Q] Hardware help neede! Screen not working after replacement glass

Hi Guys,
Hoping there's a hardware guru out there who can help Yesterday, I replaced the screen of my stock UK Note 2. All went well until the LOCA glue part which was a nightmare, Anyway, to cut a long story short, the job is done, however, I am now experiencing very strange screen behaviour.
The lower part of the screen (first row of widgets) is unresponsive to touch yet works fine with S Pen, but here is the weird bit, it does respond to touch on the home screens but not in apps ie I can open the camera using my finger but cant activate the shutter button (except with the S Pen). As far as I can tell this happens in all apps. All other aspects work fine and it is purely limited to this bottom strip.
I wasn't happy about the LOCA glue job and I am certain that I had leakage towards the lower half of the phone. What I was wondering was does this behaviour point to a specific hardware part that I can either clean or replace or am I stuffed!
Any help would be much appreciated :fingers-crossed:

[Q] Cracked screen, touch broken. Related?

My Xperia Z1 Compact just suffered the same fate as my Xperia Z1 a few weeks back (I probably shouldn't be buying smartphones hehe), that is, I dropped it from a relatively low height (though in the case of the Z1 I, and several others, may have slightly danced on it as well) and put a crack in the screen. After this drop the touch layer isn't working as it should, it only registers touches on the left side of the phone, and it only does that sometimes. Looking at other phones I've cracked the screens of in the past, these two are the only ones where I've had this problem with the touchscreen post-incident, the others, no matter how much I'd disintegrate the screens, touch would always still work. As this is the second Sony phone I've had recently that behaves like this after cracking the screen I'm beginning to think that Sony designs their phones in a way that makes this outcome more likely.
So my question is this: have people around here noticed similar behaviour in their Sony phones when the screen was cracked?
