Hi all. I am not on AT&T so I apologize for posting here but I wasnt sure where else to seek help. Hopefully someone may have an idea.
I recently got a phone on the Pelephone network in Israel. It is a Galaxy S3.
I am able to send SMS texts with no problem. I am also able to receive texts from other phones in Israel no problem.
For the first day or two everything went OK but then suddenly I stopped receiving texts from my friends in the US. They receive mine, but I cannot receive theirs.
My company tried diagnosing this with carrier. They insist everything should work. All the right plans are activated, etc. They even swapped out the SIM. After that the SMS worked fine again for about a day, and then, like last time, stopped working...so people in the US can still receive mine, but I cannot receive their replies anymore.
They are replying in the same way as in the past (replying to my text) so it did work...it just stopped.
I have tried a factory reset which didnt help.
Any ideas?

I know there are a couple of threads about this already but mine is a little different.
I got O2 XDA Orbit from ebay - put in my VodafoneUK sim card and everything works fine, MMS, GPRS, Internet and even GPS (don't know if the last one matters) - I haven't upgraded or changed any software or anything but my SMS text messages won't work - they sit in outbox for a minute or so then I get the error msg "your text message cannot be sent".
Ant help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Silly question but does the actual phone work - ie can you call out OK?
Can you receive messages?
My Orbit will receive OK but not always send in a poor signal area.
Stew,
Sorted It!!!!
To your answer sloss yes everything else works but I know what it is now.
I tried Start>Settings>Phone>Services...Voicemail and Text Messaging...select and then Get Settings........BUT it actually receives the WRONG yes the WRONG message centre number from the network.
Got a friends UK Vodafone phone and just copied his message centre number and Viola it worked fine, I'm so happy I could cry!!
Just thought this might help some others who may be having this problem.
So this isn't Dinc specific but as at least half of the problem occurs on a dinc I thought I might as well post it here.
I just recently had a problem with one of my associates where we are unable to send/receive text messages from one another. I have turned on received reports in the default messaging app and all my texts say received by the recipient.
Both of us can receive and send texts to other people and calling between us still works. I have wiped my phone, and gone with a stock Virtuous 3.2 rom and it still doesn't work. They are on a blackberry, also on Verizon if that helps.
I think this has something to do with your associates phone. My girlfriend's phone does the same thing, she won't receive messages or sometimes even calls. She has the new blackberry curve on VZW. We tried *228'ing it and that didn't help so we took it to the store, it was swapped and now it works like a charm.
It's not your phone, especially if you wiped it clean. Trust me.
I sold my G-nex to a friend who then gave it to a relative, but she is complaining that she is receiving texts intended for me, even though I also am receiving them.
I have a new number, even a new carrier.
The SIM was replaced.
She says the google account is hers not mine. Which I am sure it is.
What other suggestions can be offered to help?
Thanks to anyone who replies.
are we talking about SMS texts? Gtalk texts? Whatsapp texts?.. troubleshooting this could be fun, but I'd just tell her to fully wipe the phone and start all over, probably didn't wipe correctly in the first place.
Waited patiently for my HTC one (m8) to arrive. Was sitting on my doorstep when I arrived home from work today. Quickly went to work transferring all the things I needed from old phone. Been at it for 3-4 Hours. Everything seemed to be working fine, texts and making calls. Started to get people asking me why I wasn't answering my phone.
Come to find out I am not receiving phone calls. Awesome. reset all settings, reactivate. They have no clue what the problem is, told me to go see a tech.
Great phone but I am beyond pissed I have to deal with some unknown issue that I am sure they won't be able to fix at the store. Make sure to test and see if you guys are receiving calls on your phone. I can receive voicemails just can not tell if someone is calling me.
Anyone else have this problem? Have a fix?
Why didn't you wait for the M9?
Go to Settings -> Mobile Data -> Network Mode -> 3G Only.
I'm having the same problem with my M9, and this is a temporary fix that I read about. It worked for me, and I had multiple friends test it in order to ensure that it's not going to fail on me. Who is your carrier?
My HTC One m9 stopped working around 11am and it is 11:04 pm and I have tried everything. The data just won't work. It says "use my data plan when wifi isn't available" I don't know what that means and I'm honestly getting angry. I have tried resetting it and updating it and I just can't get it to work. I can't receive or send texts or calls. Please help me.
HTCm one 9 ...my text messages are not coming through on my phone but I can send them.
My wife's Capitvate Glide stopped receiving texts a couple of days ago. The phone is running stock ICS, not rooted. She can send texts just fine, and she can make and receive phone calls. ATT says they don't see anything wrong on their end. I've tried rebooting, pulling the SIM and battery, but it still doesn't receive texts.
Hi
I found that as a possible answer:
AT&T indicated that it was a problem with the network registration, given every piece of my phone's communication worked except for receiving SMS. This turned out to be true. The solution was to put the sim card in another phone, which overrode the network registration for my number. After about a minute, the second phone received all of the texts that the first had not been able to get, and then I could move the sim card back into my regular phone and receive texts as normal.

The woman at the ATT store did that and it did fix it, sort of. Later in the day the phone was still receiving texts but could not send them - it just said "Failed". I pulled the battery for about 15-20 minutes and that issue was fixed.
I think we'll be getting a new phone for my wife soon...
