I wanted to know about unlocking the bootloader and if possible remove the Samsung galaxy grand gt-i9082 logo from start. Also, I forgot to backup the default CyanogenMod while downloading another one from ROM toolbox. So, of anyone could upload the default cm11's bootlogo zip. Thanks.

What exactly do you want to unlock in the bootloader.
The unlocked bootloader concept exists in HTC because they have a UI before you can access the recovery and flash image files. But for Samsung and Sony there are two distinct modes available, Recovery Mode and Download Mode, so there has been no point in messing with the bootloader.

In CyanogenMod 11, the option exists if we wanted to be prompted to enter a mode on boot. This drove me to curiositya and can't we remove the Samsung galaxy grand screen that shows at first.

I read through a handful of posts on XDA regarding this. From what I learnt is that it was possible till early 2011 by using busybox to make some files writable but since then members haven't been able to change the model number splash screen. But the loophole was closed by Samsung and it's now hard-coded into the bootloader. Editing the bootloader is possible, but editing or removing the boot splash screen is not an easy task to say the least.

Should work fine as long as you run the unlocked boot loader. If you have the locked boot loader cwm won't run, fails verification from the bootloader and you'll be locked out of recovery until you replace it with stock or unlock the boot loader.

Thanks for the Very Quick Reply to My Post. I'm some what confused. I thought that after the tablet had been rooted and this App was installed that the App "Acer Recovery Installer" would Unlock the Boot Loader ? Sorry I know a lot about CyanogenMod and the HP Touchpad but very New to the Acer Models. Acer's seem to be a bit tougher to Mod.

No, it will not unlock the bootloader. You have to do that manually. The app will only install the custom recovery (which requires an unlocked bootloader).

Hello Guys,
Thanks to the djrbliss and the root http://cleanimport.xda/index.php?threads/2252248/ , I dumped the system files from the AT&T version and am uploading the original files so that someone can make a Pre-Rooted , Custom Rom , Recovery , etc . When our devices are locked - does rooting them essentially unlock them? or is there some other step that is required? Same question for flashing a custom recovery - how or does - this effect the locked booterloader thing -
I tried doing a GOOGlE search to see if I could figure it ouit on my own and wasnt quite sure so - I thought I would ask - at the risk of looking like a dummy
thoughts?

yes it does...but if you install a custom ROM then it will have all the customizations which make the phone run faster and better than stock and other stuff which we cannot have with a stock rom.
custom recovery adds a step of protection by which you can install/backup roms and other stuff. and you can only install a custom recovery and rom if you have an unlocked bootloader.

Exactly why I am stumped atm, there's write protection on bootloader, I wonder if AT&T is the only S4 with this??? Can anyone confirm who has another S4 like i9505?
if the root method works, then you should be able to flash the recovery and custom kernel as long as the bootloader does not do signature checks (which some people have claimed to be true, will see). You will not be able to use ODIN,
but shouldn't matter.
Did it the "root" work for anyone else? I remember the kernel config allow full permissive root access, so we should be golden..

Yes , the root worked for everyone who tried. From browsing the thread , i seen that it worked for AT&T and SPRINT SG4's so someone should be able to make a custom kernel soon enough

THanks - I apprecaite the info
2.7GB...damn gurl dat bloat
Just another reminder to those still newly getting their S4's, remember the bootloader IS STILL LOCKED and your are pretty much stuck if anything happens to your phone while Rooted :/
Best bet just wait for the bootloader unlock, if you can't wait then I guess it sucks to be you XD
I don't even think it's gonna take long for the bootloader to get unlocked and I'm also willing to bet that someone from Samsung will probably end up releasing something helpful.

Rooting this device was such a breeze! And being able to do it the day after it arrived in the mail was just awesome. Thanks for the dump. I have been freezing the bloatware with Titanium Backup, didn't want to begin stripping things until a recovery was available and I could do a backup of the stock rom. I was surprised to see that I could also freeze most of the bloat through the built in Application Manager (selecting an app then tapping Disable) even before I rooted the phone.

first the dev's need to find and unlock the bootloader, we cannot say how much long that will take because it depends on the dev's and the device, i can say about 20 days to a month and after which the recovery can be done, which will be soon if we get the bootloader unlocked , then the custom roms will come out...
Dear all,
Firstly, I'm new to this forum - hi. I have done an extensive search and found some guides but even those confuse me so I'd appreciated some constructive comments without any links to guides I may also find difficult.
I'm trying to install Jellybean to my device using a guide (that I currently can't link to because I haven't had 10 posts).
I have downloaded the two zip files it says I need (ROM and Google Apps) and have copied them to my SD card. However I don't know how to get into recovery mode to then load these. I downloaded RecoverX and tried to install it but it says my phone is either not connecting or is missing some drivers. I have busybox installed and my phone is connected with USB debugging enabled.
Can anyone advise me further?
Thank you.
What have you got?? Unlocked or Locked Bootloader ???
You forgot the first step.
Unlocking your bootloader
You have to unlock bootloader to flash custom jelly bean kernel. Then you can load cwm

Restore backup, its only thing u can do right now. If u want to flash custom JB rom, u must unlock bootloader as said before because different versions of Android cant run on the same kernel.
To install custom rom, do this steps:
1) unlock bootloader (if possible, otherwise, u r stuck with ICS roms.)
http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/instructions
2) After that, its simple - flash selected kernel via flashtool and then flash desired ROM!
And piece of advice, u have search on this forum, its quite usefull

For that you have to flash via CWM the Google Apps or the so-called Gapps. Link: http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip (If you flashed the 4.1.2 official SlimBean). I help you because that's the ROM I use (but the 4.1.2 version, not the 4.2.2 by besttt)

here is the orignal Splash screen of Mi A1 without Unlocked warning.
Remove Unlocked warning by Flashing this Splash zip.
Just flash this zip with TWRP and Bootloader Unlocked warning will gone

2. Removed ( Your Device cant checked for Corruption) warning
It has nothing to do with any roms right?
no it's just boot screen
when you flash it you will never get Bootloader unlocked warning on phone startup anymore
