downgrade baseband?

Hey guys... Looking for 2 answers...
Can the baseband of an M919 be downgraded?
If so, can you point me to a tutorial or Instructions?
It all depends. If you're still on the MDL bootloader you can Odin flash the MDL baseband. If you're already on the MK2 bootloader you can not go back.

Already bought unlock codes from FastGSM... so, no need to downgrade now... But, for reference... How do I know which bootloader Im on? or how would one preserve an old bootloader if updating a ROM
You will get the new bootloader if you a) took the OTA update or b) update via kies or c) Odin flashed the whole 4.3 firmware.
In Settings/More/About device, look at your baseband. The last 3 digit should be MDL or MK2.
That's your modem.
Bootloader you need to go into Download mode I believed.

To be honest, I've found the best thing to do is not jump on the band-wagon and flash an update until you research what the Devs suggest before flashing away. It has saved me a ton of grief and aggravation. They know these updates in and out. For instance, they were warning people to hold off on the MDL to MK2 because of the bootloader and KNOX issue but people didn't research and now some are having problems and it is too late, you can't go back. If you did the OTA update or through Kies you are stuck with MK2 and KNOX. For most people it's no big deal, but if you enjoy modding your phone it can be a pain in the rear.

Picked it up with the MK2... was trying to do a SIM UNLOCK without paying $30US (The IMEI unlock is $30, the USB/software unlock is $15... and the debug unlock is free...but it looks like the debug is done away with in MK2)...
Should have probably mentioned, this is a Metro PCS flashed with TMo rom (did that to try to get the debug menu to work correctly as there has been some luck with it)... Anyway, now the fun part of getting back to MPCS...
On a side note... you guys know about the Re-Partition flag in Odin? You guys here in XDA make it sound as if its a good way to brick a phone... in the MPCS forum (on a dif. site)... has that mark checked when flashing back to the MPCS rom (stock) from a TMo rom... any ideas?

[Q] Sim unlock SGH-M919M on 4.3

I have a metro pcs galaxy s4 with the stock tmobile firmware 4.3, I took it to a local store but they couldn't unlock it. As you know I can't downgrade to 4.2.2 because of the Knox security, so do you guys know of any way to unlock my phone?

I don't know if its the easiest way but there is a way to "dual boot" a rom installed on the SD card which gets around knox. Then you could run 4.2.x and do the debug menu unlock.
Alternatively try this as it has worked for some people, including my GF with an AT&T S4 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2470551
I found someone on craigslist who unlocked my s4 for $20, the imei shows as unknown but everything is working good.
Thanks for your help tho.

[Q] URGENT HELP!!!!! Unlocking T-Mobile S4 for International Use

I´ve followed several different threads, stating to use *#0011# and other variants, but none of them are currently working.
I´ve tried using *#0011#, Menu, Back, Menu, 1 and it just stays there. And trying to use *#27663368378# does nothing whatsoever. I´m really stumped and I´m currently back in Colombia so I need to be able to use this phone ASAP!!!
The phone IS rooted, but it has a stock ROM and I´m running 4.3.
Please help!
Have you tried RegionLockAway app? Outside of that you could try buying a code online.

I have never heard of it. I will try that for sure.
The thing with the online code is that my CC has no money because I withdrew everything since I won´t be needing to use it at all since I won´t be going back to the US.

If your phone came with 4.3 already installed from T-Mobile or you took the official ota then you are out of luck as far as downgrading is concerned. Are yu any of tthose? if so, you will have to buy an unlock code from an online unlocker like FastGSM

Im very confused. From what i gathered from the devs they are releasing everything for all devices at the same time, i.e. a universal bootloader tool, or is this not the case anymore...im itching to get my bootloader unlocked and this isnt an ask for an eta or anything, im just wondering if i have got my wires crossed. My d855 has been rooted since day one with no issues and im worried my bootloader will forever be sealed.....is the tool people are saying is available this weekend, the universal bootloader unlock?

They're working on a universal root first. I could be wrong, but I expect the release this weekend will be TWRP for the T-Mobile variant.

you "gathered" wrong..
dev's usually release things when they get them working perfectly, and have a safe way for N00bs to install things without immediately bricking their precious devices.
"Universal" bootloader tool is a pipe dream so dont hold your breath waiting for that
Rumors are just that; rumors, so when your phone's bootloader gets unlocked, you will surely know for sure; until then, its all just SWAG..

Are you one of the devs working on bootloader unlocks...? Because the ones i know definitely are seem to disagree with what you are saying, despite what devs 'usually' do.
From what i see here, it is universal root and universal unlock they are looking to achieve.

They are looking for a universal root for all the variants.
They are also trying to unlock all the variants.
They think that unlocking one variant might allow the unlocking of other variants, but not necessarily all variants.
They are not looking for a 'universal' unlock in the same way that they are looking for a 'universal' root.
I used the Korean version cwm recovery . it works.

Qualcomm variant root without unlocking bootloader?

So got a Rogers Note 7, and it seems from some threads on here that ALL Qualcomm variants are locked. I know there is already a TWRP for the Exynos variant since they have an unlocked bootloader.
My question is: I'm looking purely for Xposed, for some UI tweaks that drive my crazy...anyone know the chances of root without bootloader unlock and using FlashFire to install Xposed?
Thanks all

Rogers Canada has unlocked bootloader
I am also with Rogers Canada and just got the Note 7 with the QCOM Snapdragon. Unless I am mistaken the OEM unlock switch (see photo) unlocks the bootloader to allow modifications. I cannot wait for a root method that works, unfortunately, from what I know QCOM's are notoriously hard to root regardless of the bootlader being locked or unlocked.
No it doesn't. That is actually present on pretty much any Android device now.

How about instead of being a **** and saying how funny this is you explain to us what the unlock button does. There is nothing funny to me about an unrooted phone. And I did say in my reply "unless I am mistaken".
And for your information I did do a bunch of reading, and the first step to rooting is to check the OEM unlock toggle which unlocks the bootloader to allow modification. So maybe I'm just hopeful because our Canadian variants usually aren't as restricted as US devices. I have not I have not had to root a Qualcomm device since 2012 so excuse me for being a little rusty on this subject

Yeah we got lumped into the locked group this time around...we escaped it on the S7s but once we knew the CAN device was getting the 820 like the US models we were all worried.
Sure enough from what we have seen thus far shes locked...no root in the forseeable future. Not impossible but not going to be easy.
And yes not being able to root is def not funny and I am also hoping it happens but if not we can buy the exynos version.
As for the unlock button as far as i have seen on sammy phones it does nothing. On nexus and some LG devices you need to use it to allow BL unlock...guess it just comes as part of android but thus far not functional on our devices.
And rusty isnt a problem but after that unlock button has been discussed 1000 times and the subject beaten to death across numerous forums and devices..yeah it makes me chuckle when i see people post it unlocks the device....oh god how I wish it was true though!
And dude FYI name calling is not allowed here nor appreciated by moderators....just a little friendly information
