[ROM][4.4.4] CyanogenMod 11 - (no bigPart) - Xoom Android Development

I present to you, CyanogenMod 11 for non bigPart users!
First of all a massive thanks to @Schischu for bringing CM11 to the xoom, this would not be possible regardless of whether he made it for bigPart or not! So please hop over to his thread and give him some praise!
I have recompiled his sources without the bigPart patch and have removed some things in order for it to fit into our ~250mb /system
Code:
* Your warranty is now void.
*
* We are not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* or anything unexpected that may happen to your device!
* You are choosing to make these modifications,
* if your device turns into a paperweight then it is your fault!

Well you've really done it matt
I guess no one has xoom with warranty now since it's been discontinued a while ago
So how if I flash this one in a repartitioned system? Would it make a difference? A bit snappier maybe? Hope the everest could come
I wonder how you would do the trick for gapps. You will only have so little space for it after the system. Gotta keep wishing the best for this one

this is true haha!
there would be no point in flashing this if you have upgraded to the new system partition. This has some things cut out and won't be able to support full gapps.
This is mainly for people who can't/won't upgrade to bigPart due to any reason.
Gapps, I'm looking at tonight tomorrow, it'll probably be a very minimal package with just play store and a few other things, everything else can go on /data
there wouldn't be any difference in performance between this and the bigPart version

Update compiled, made it slightly smaller and found a GApps solution! It all comes to ~248mb

it's a bit smaller, everything now comes to ~244mb, and now will always be around there, I did this so that if updated features and new CM things come through there is plenty of space to have them

thankyou.

LatinIME.apk, is stripped, basically it only has the english language in it to make space without the bigPart, so if you're swapping language that may be where the issue is!
What are you doing?

Thank you so much matt4321, your rom rocks for those who don't want to modify patitions (installed on mine since the 4th of Feb.).
I had also this problem with Android (AOSP) keyboard because i switched to French but I disabled this embedded keyboard and I simply did an adb install googlekeyboard.apk. That was enough to get rid of this little issue. But for sure I could have add missing components too .
I took also email.apk and exchange2.apk from Omnirom image laugh and push them through adb too. Works really well.
My MZ604 is running fine and I use it everyday at work !
Tested : HDMI on tv, otg cable + usb\hdd, camera front\rear, wifi, streaming from my synology, videos, books. All ok.
Now, I don't get why people are using bigpart!!!

no worries, glad you're using it and enjoying it! I may upload the thing's I removed so people can download them and squeeze them in if they want!
I can see the advantage of bigPart, a fuller gapps and everything can be included! it does have it's benefits. but I guess some people don't want to make the risky procedure to carry it out

[ROM] [04 JAN] [4.0.3] Almost Vanilla v3

Disclaimer: I am not responsible for your phone exploding or Mcdonalds forgetting to take the onions off your burger. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
I call this ROM "Almost Vanilla" as it's built from 4.0.3 sources with a few necessary fixes and a tweak here and there. I don't intend to add much of anything, Google did a fantastic job this time around.
Everything should work in this ROM!

I was looking at the official OTA zip hoping it was just a matter of yanking the APKs. Apparently they release the Gapp bits as patch files which get applied during the flash. I assume there must be a way to get them out of there but that stumped me.
Someone posted a nandroid in the S forums, maybe that would help?

Gapps-- all we should need is a market, right? The market should update itself, then we can download latest versions of everything else. I'll look for one of the old gapps versions that has market only.

[Rom] Aosp Android 4.2 pre Alpha - booting

Well, i have compiled android 4.2 from sources, with cyanogen mod 10 device tree.
Working:
- booting
- sound
- most apps (cam is not working because sdcards don't get mounted)
upload finished:
http://rootaxbox.no-ip.org/derteufel/test/
to everyone posting a logcat:
please use pastebin.com for this. otherwise the thread isn't readable at the phone.
installing:
i recommend doing a wipe before, although, i was able to flash it without wipe (cominig from my hellybean rom)
please make a nandroid before!
this is a good summary:
Bejda said:
Wifi worked for me but no network,i noticed the apns-conf.xml was very partial with only some T-mobile stuffs but my attempt to replace it with CM10 one didn't solves nothing (well replaced but still no network).
Hard to manage things once on the pre-Alpha with no access to sdcard so prepare your backpack lol,i had chance i already had a CM10 apns-conf cwm zip on sd.
From recovery only sdext is mounted via usb but it's still a way to push flashable zip/install from ext.On running device Mtp gives no error but mounts nothing.
I came no wipe and my apps was there at first boot but disappeared after a reboot.
Root was a problem too apparently,i didn't had much time and only tried to put busybox in /system/xbin but didn't worked.
I'm saying all this just for those wanting to give it a try to be prepared, make arrangements before and then maybe extend their test

WiFi is kernel related so he has to tweak the kernel to work with 4.2.
Call and Data is something all AOSP(my ROM) and Ports(Elite's ROM) is facing with 4.2 build. Im not sure but it seems if the baseband has been editted for 4.2... Bluetooth drivers has been tweaked as well but seem to be working fine with missing files. Another problem is Surface flinger which CM team is working on currently.
My build has some FC and random reboots, think Google needs to revise their source tree. I'll resyn my code and build again.

[rom] [aosp] [4.2.1] s3 1-25-13 [toroplus] Abandoned

This is a nightly project based off of the Android Open Source Project software code and Google proprietary that I'm maintaining for myself that I'm sharing with the community.
This ROM doesn't have any added features found in most ROM's, instead I am more focused on keeping this "stockish".
If you are looking for something that is more developed I would suggest CyanogenMOD, AOKP, TeamEOS, or etc that offers more.
If you have an error or something pops up I ask that before you post about it please make sure that you are running the ROM as provided. I cannot troubleshoot anything that is related to using other kernels, mods, or themes.
Google apps are include:
Chrome

Screenshots won't tell you very much. Kit Kat looks very much like Jelly Bean. White status bar icons on a transparent status bar is about as different as it looks. There are plenty of screenshots of the new Google Experience Launcher for you to check out.
As far as stability goes, it's a little early to say. I've only been running it a few hours. There are a few little issues that @oblikas is aware of (external SD, Camera capped at 8MP) but otherwise it's very functional. It's extremely smooth and boots really quickly.
EDIT:
WiFi Hotspot is working-very well I might add. Using it to download the OTA for my N7.
This does not intsall on E988. It gives error during installation in recovery.

Going to try this tonight. Just wondering, did anyone successfully run this on a non AT&T model? Mine's the Israeli E989, But i'll do a nandroid and try anyway.
Tried a few times, but was unable to install this on my E980. Using TWRP for our devices, I get the error messages "Error executing updater binary in zip..." & "Error flashing zip..." Was previously using madmack's CM 10.2, had no problems flashing back to it. Any idea what might have caused this?

Well you might want to hang on to it for a few days and try out the new builds I have going. With some help from sleshepic I am now on a roll and pumping out a few new things. This one (mahdi) is fully working and I am building a fully working beanstalk atm. Then on to Chaos and then baked KK.
Also unlike most 4.4 KK roms this one (mahdi) has a much louder speaker volume both external and on calls. I am trying to find the exactly what the modifications are so I can add them into all my builds. That way users wont need any add-ons to boost the volume.
Jlmancuso I found the ROM but which gapps should I use? Just want to make sure I use the right one

I will link a few a 4.4 core gapps along with slims gapps. Although any current 4.4 version should be fine.
Does this one has BT working for music call and car?
I don't have that Philz version which may break some ROM if not follow new chats from Philz.

Dont have any bluetooth besides another phone so I am not sure. It will do beam which uses nfc and bluetooth transfer so that is all I can say. I do have another user testing those features atm but could use another.
I am posting link in OP to philz goo.im downloads. It will take you directly to our device so there will be no confusion in that area. All his builds will work with 4.4 but only 6.07.09 will work with all android versions.

I'm assuming this is AOSP since people are mentioning GAPPS packages, but I've never heard of this ROM, what's it's unique features compared to let's say AOKP, PACman, Carbon, etc? Just curious

This ROM is nice and fast I've been rocking with it all afternoon my only issue is the camera doesn't work, I've loaded a couple of camera apps from the play store and they don't work either. Bummer.

Something in the source is broken. Tomorrow I will be digging into this and beanstalk. The thing is when working for current sources they are not always 100% usable. Until a stable release is made everything is like a nightly. Things get changed and some changes are not complete. I just have to mix and match different sources or fix the code myself. Since I am just a novice it takes me longer.
You might want to try my ose build. It looks to be fairly bug free so far.
