About Omni
The goal of Omni is to experiment with Android development because we enjoy it. Omni isn’t better, just different. It’s another option for the billion Android users out there. Android (vs. iOS and every other mobile OS) has thrived on options as well as the gigantic, talented development community that has emerged to build those options. That’s the beauty of Android – that you can pick and choose from a smorgasbord of devices with varying features and functionality.

Hi @all!
Pay attention P1L and P1N users
The P1LN Omni project will be deprecated properly.
P1, P1L and P1N will be installed using only one install package built from P1 Omni project, like CyanogenMod install process.
P.S. I will merge 720P patches when I get positive feedback from any P1 user.
Thank you!

for anyone want to flash a kernel using Hiemdall frontend under windows:
1- download Heimdall suite 1.4.0 from http://www.glassechidna.com.au/products/heimdall/
2- extract and then install the driver (reboot to download mode by holding power and volume down to get out of the boot loop) connect the tab and run the zadig.exe inside the driver folder inside the suite. Select Samsung composite device from first menu and hit install or replace driver.
3-run Heimdall frontend and in utilities tab select detect, once detected select save as and type p1000 for example and hit download. This will download your tab pit file to the PC. See the attachments
4- go to Flash option in the frontend and under PIT hit browse and navigate to the folder you saved your pit file and select it. Then under Partition (files) press add, in Partition details select kernel and browse for the kernel you want to flash in your PC (you can flash kernel extracted from flashable zip "the boot.img file". See images below. .
- hit start...

is it mandatory to use PA gapps or can use any KK -compatible gapps? i'm trying to flash PA gapps (full, modular, mini modular) but TWRP aborted my installation due to not enough memory. so i've flashed gapps from @storm31 cm11 thread.

USB Tethering won't work in windows (works in ubuntu, untested on OSX)

USB Host works with a Y cable as the tab doesn't supply power, doesn't with the standard Samsung Adapter for the new tabs.

READ THIS BEFORE FLASHING
^It's for the epic but it's pretty much the same thing except the ROM links, and the only ROMs having MTD now are CM9 based ROMs - no MTD on GB
Only way to revert to a normal ROM now is flashing a stock Samsung ROM by odin (with repartition checked)
How to Flash the above zips :
You need to restock your tab if you are running an old MTD build, (only if /system isn't 406 mb, check it by the command `df system` or use an app (such as root explorer) )
IF you are coming from a FSR (STL/BML) ROM (aka Samsung ROM - anything else than the latest CM9 builds / AOKP builds, i.e. any GB ROM, no need to restock)
IF you are coming from a froyo ROM, you need to flash a stock GB ROM first, follow the guide below :
Restocking :
Follow the team overcome restock guide [http://www.teamovercome.net/p1000/?page_id=17], and completely restock your tab.
Once you've flashed it, reboot into download mode again and flash any kernel with recovery (any non-MTD kernels from humberos.com.br, or this forum, for your tab model)
After you've flashed the kernel, reboot into recovery, and this time, install the zip you just downloaded from CyanogenMod servers.
Install Google Apps if you want (gapps-ics-* from goo.im) [optional]
Reboot and enjoy your tab
Normal install :
You need to have a kernel with CWM Recovery
Get the zip from the above download links
Put the zip on your sdcard, reboot into recovery, and install the zip
It'll reboot a few times during the install, that's normal

Sources :
CyanogenMod : https://github.com/CyanogenMod
SGT7 (based off CyanogenMod sources with a few tweaks of our own) https://github.com/sgt7
All device tress (p1, p1c and p1-common) and kernel tress (p1 and p1c) have been merged into the CyanogenMod tree now, if you want to submit a change/patch, use cm code-review [http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Howto:_Gerrit]
How to get the sources :
Setup Android Build Environment (http://source.android.com)
Code:
mkdir ~/cm9
cd ~/cm9
repo init -u git://github.com/CyanogenMod/android.git -b ics
(Type in your name and email address when asked)
Code:
repo sync
(^^This'll take a while, as ~7GB of sources are downloaded initially)
How to build :
Code:
source build/envsetup.sh
cd device/samsung/p1 ; ./extract-files.sh
brunch p1
Replace p1 with p1c for CDMA variants.
Building may take a long time depending on your machine, might range from a few minutes to many hours
After the build is done, navigate to ~/cm9/out/target/product/p1
The zip you'll be looking for would be update-cm-9.0.0-RC0-p1-UNOFFICIAL-signed.zip
If you want to build just the kernel, type the below commands
Code:
source build/envsetup.sh
make out/target/product/p1/boot.img
If you want just the kernel - u'll get it in the same folder, boot.img
Flash it with heimdall
heimdall flash --kernel ~/cm9/out/target/product/galaxytab/boot.img --recovery ~/cm9/out/target/product/galaxytab/boot.img
^^The above instructions were for building a clean CyanogenMod build for p1, without any changes we did to the sources (mainly frameworks and some apps)
IF you want to build that, sync from https://github.com/sgt7/android.git instead of CyanogenMod, and then build using the same commands

I flashed the wrong gapps.
The only issue I see is my data connection is dropping constantly
Couple things that I came across.
(1) 3g/h/h+ icons keep disappering (Data is still connected just the icon is missing. Comes back in few seconds)
(2) Auto rotate doesn't work at all.
- There seems to be no accelerometer support. You can't play most games bc of this or rotate apps such as browser or videos.
Other than that it's pretty solid. Thanks.
is there anyway we can do this wit TWRP recovery?

Another KitKat ROM for the awesome HTC Wildfire S! I have patched up AOSPA to run on ARMv6 devices, huge thanks to the androidarmv6 team! Our Wildfire S is the first armv6 device to get PA based on KitKat.
Code:
#include
/*
* Your warranty is now void.
*
* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
*/

NOTE: This has been removed from the ROM itself. So we need to get MTP working instead of backporting USBMS

For MTP you should ask Jdevs and the OWL team, they got it working in AOSPE beta..............Although that was for 4.2, that should help quite a bit
EDIT: Just in case, workarounds for transferring data
1. Mount USB storage via recovery
2. Transfer files via bluetooth
I would really suggest the former since transferring huge files is a real drag on Bluetooth

It may take some time for KitKat ROMs to boot up for the first time, that's normal. No worries, it will boot (it has been tested).

JDevs is busy atm, but he might be free to help fixing bugs soon. Can you link me to an AOSPE build please?

I believe this is the only AOSPE build ever released, hope you can find something useful in it
EDIT: The link in the post is giving a 404, and I think I deleted the copy I had
Lol, I just realized USB Mass Storage does work. I'll try to fix MTP though.

Fine rom, great battery life, daily.
Gps having problems with " catching signal " but rest is working like a charm.:good:
I really wanted to ask, what are the chances that "Hover" works for us?
It's now open-source, right? If so, then it should be in the next build (RC1).

Thanks. I think the ROM is prerooted and you can enable access from developers settings
yep, ROM is prerooted, but supersu much better
Nice to see some development for the crackling.
Could you also provide a non-rooted version? Because my company MDM does not allow root-access.
