Does the G Pad have Guest Mode like the G2 does? I have recently set up Guest Mode on my G2 and love it. I can give the phone to my kids, they enter their own unlock pattern and they can only access set apps that I designate. That's it. They can't access the notification shade or the app drawer. They can't add or change or delete anything. It's exactly what I want so I can safely hand the phone to my kids without worrying what they do.
On the G Pad 8.3, it seems to be a full multi-user account experience. This is great, but it seems that Guest Mode has been removed to make way for it. Multi-User still allows almost full access, and I can see my kids screwing something up if I use it. For the kids to use, I would much rather use GM, and I can't seem to find it anymore. Is it hidden somewhere that I'm not seeing? If it's gone, is it possible to get it back maybe through side loading or a mod or something?
Anyone?
A lot of sites on the web seem to list it as having Guest Mode. Not sure if that's incorrect or not.
I don't think you can. At least I don't see an option for that when adding a new user.
The LG G2 supports it, but it's not on the G pad.

Hello All,
I was wondering is there anyway at all to be able to restrict what people can do on the xda1? I would like for people to just to be able to access things that I have placed on the today screen. I would like to stop people from even accessing the start menu. Is it possible to even hide the start menu? Many Thanks, G

Sure there is! Tweak2k2 will do it!
http://www.pc-counselor.8m.com/
And works on 2002 and 2003! Lots of awsome features and things you can do with it. I found it was a worth while purchase, but you can use it free 3 times.

this was a much hyped feature of sense 4.0, to allow other people to use your phone, but not access your private data.
How do you access it?

I am also looking for an answer to this, please help
in storage you can make a password for your data on your phone but which guest mode do you mean ? this is the only thing i found
Guest Mode for All Android Phones (App)
The first time a guest mode was revealed for any android device was with the launch of LG G2 series phones. This feature was advertised so well in the media. I also bought an LG G2 at that time (not for this feature alone) as it was a great phone. I realized that a little over six months had passed and I seldom used the Guest Mode feature on the phone.
The guest mode in G2 and the one in the upcoming Android L (5.0) is something that is too apparent in nature. What I mean is that any adult who is given a phone in the guest mode will easily be able to come to know that they do not have the full access to the phone. In cultures (like India), it will be considered very rude in case I lent a phone to another user in Guest Mode. Also, what do you do when you Dad asked you for your phone, you surely cannot give him in Guest Mode (this will make him more suspicious).
This was the practical challenge when I decided to make an app for myself, the app that I have been using is similar to an app locker. However, it has been added with a screen lock as well. I chose two different types of passwords (one master and another guest). The app allows me to chose all the applications that I consider private and want to be locked (such as emails, whatsapp, other chats, picture gallery etc). When I unlock my screen using the master password, the screen gets unlocked and all protected apps get unlocked as well. When I give my phone to someone else, I just give them my guest password. The screen gets unlocked normally using the guest password, however, all the protected apps continue to be locked. This helps me easily give my phone to others.
When I gave the app to my friends, the kind of response that I received was overwhelming. So launched it for public as well. You can download the app for free from Google Play. Just search for Pluggdd on Google Play, it is the only app on Pluggdd as the developer.
Looking forward to feedback from you all developers on what is missing in the app and what more features can I add.
Work no longer let's us carry our phones with us there for the 360 will spend a lot of its time with no phone connection. I'm assuming it will still keep time? I only ask because an early Sony smart watch couldn't. What else? Can you still set timers use the stop watch? Can you use apps that don't require Internet connection like a calculator?
Anyone?
I don't have one but if it's like the g watch you will be able to still use the functions you asked about.
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
That's what I would expect.. But you never know these days. I just didn't want some usless brick that says please sync all day.
Thanks
Yes, I can still check the time, set a timer, use the stop watch, etc. I haven't found a calculator app that works on the round display, yet.
It seems like voice recognition doesn't work, but anything you can run from the menu does. So you can set an alarm, timer, etc, though you have to use the touch interface which may not be as flexible.
I hope they give the option for offline voice recognition at some point. I think it would be very advantageous to be able to do basic tasks like setting reminders, alarms and creating notes etc. these could easily then sync once the phone is reconnected. There's no hardware reason why this wouldn't be possible it will just require implementation.

Also, if you put it in airplane mode, it doesn't even give you the voice prompt screen... instead it immediately shows the list of activities / apps you can do. Voice on that screen does not work at all. Too bad!

I'm pretty sure this is not possible. When you first take it out of the box, it asks for a language, after selecting one, no swiping, tapping, or anything else can get it from a screen saying to download the Wear app on your phone. It simply will not do anything until it does.
That's my experience, anyway. I couldn't get anything until my phone synced.

Yeah I talked to motorola customer service and they said that it won't ask that if it doesn't detects a android phone nearby. Hope this is true.
You have access to all of your watch apps like still. All apps that depended on your phone (like google now) won't work anymore. Basically what you'd expect.
Sorry if the title is a bit jumbled. I love FoxFi alot. The only Con I can think of is that the trusted credential prevents my phone's unlock process to be swiped. I am rooted. Is there some way I can move the FoxFi credential into the system side, so that I can reenable swipeable lockscreen; or is there a root method I can use just to set my phone's lockscreen without moving the credential?
Also, I know and have set my phone's locktime to the max. But even still, it locks way to often. I am running 5.0.1 VS98523C on my LG G3.
Anybody here? Lol
Don't struggle with it
If you're rooted, then you don't have to struggle with that. There are plenty of tethering apps out there. Find one that works with your G3. I used to use a really good one made by someone here at XDA. I forgot the name, but I can tell you it has a yellow icon. Foxfi is for people who are not rooted. You've gone through the rooting process, now enjoy the benefit of all the choices.
I need ideas on how I can display my wife's contact information on my LG E980 lock screen as well as my medical information. Her iPhone has a convenient feature permitting this information to be accessed without getting past the lock screen. Any ideas how we can meet this need on a stock LG e980? Someone must have figured out how to deal with this issue here.
#2 - I want to add VPN to my phone yet, see no clear winner in the Google Play Store. I use CM security and was tempted to install their VPN service but, it does not look to be rated well.

There is "Owner info" option, somewhere in the lockscreen or display settings. It should be there even in stock ROMs, if I remember correctly...
About second question, I would avoid anything by Cheetah Mobile, but it's your device Don't know any good VPNs, Orbot+Orfox are working half of my needs, and uni's VPN other part.
