I just flashed my Note II using the Cyanogen Installer. Was previously on the latest Samsung ROM. After flashing, all my whatsapp images and screenshots have gone missing, leaving only my camera pics and wallpapers. Is there any way to find out where the missing files have gone/how to recover them?

Guys,
I'm using the stock Orange Sense rom but have stripped it down a lot (removed most of the sense stuff etc.) and installed a couple of other mods.
Only noticed it last night but between my backups of the 10th and 12th the contact images have stopped working in Messages - everyone has the default contact image.
I can't work out what I changed at that point to cause this to stop working. Any ideas what what control this?
I've reverted some of the apps to earlier versions, reverted the kernel to the one I was using on the 10th, restored the original version of framework-res.apk as I'd modded that and just can't get them to work.
I'm now at the point where I'm doing a file by file comparison of /system/app to see what's changed (just in case I stripped something out I shouldn't)
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks.
OK, weird.
Went back to my backup from the 10th. Re-applied mods, updates, kernel, and everything else I think I'd changed. Contact images still working in Messages.
Would be interesting to know what controls this for future reference.
Good morning!
I searched all over the place, and can't find anything related to what's happening.
But, since upgrading, I was messing around with the camera, and it's not saving any images I take (or video, or panorama).
Anyone have any ideas? My next step is backing everything up and wiping, but trying to avoid that.
Any help would be muchly appreciated!
I experienced the same problem when I upgraded from 4.01 (yakjuux) to 4.04 (yakju) and then did an ABD mode restore (apps & sd card) using Galaxy Nexus Toolbox 5.6
I reflashed 4.04, restored only the apps and everything is saving properly again. Not sure if its related to the sd-card restore corrupting the camera with old 4.0.1 files or another reason. Any suggestions?
Same problem
I am having the same problem after upgrading from yakjuxw to yakju. I tried restoring my apps and data using Wugs Galaxy Nexus Root Tookit v1.4, but that didn't completely work so I ended up reinstalling all my apps by hand. I am thinking I will have to backup my apps using TitaniumBackup and then restore yakju. Can you elaborate on how to do an "ABD mode restore"? Thanks.
EDIT: I found a simple solution: http://www.galaxynexusforum.com/forum/rescue-squad/5868-cannot-delete-two-folders-sdcard.html
Just rename DCIM to something else, reboot, and the camera app should create a new DCIM folder with fixed permissions when you take a new picture. This fix worked great for me. Now I just have to move the old pictures to the new folder and hope it doesn't screw up my permissions again...
I haven't used snote for awhile, today when I open the app or extended from Mini note when pulling Spen, The App keeps crashing. I tried many things: reboot, clear data, reset permissions in CWM, none of them works. Any other ideas?

Did you change anything in your CSC files? To be specific, the /system/VODB/ folder. I had that issue while porting N7105 ROMs the first time to the T889V.
Check logcat/ddms for other possible clues.
Good luck,

i added more hidden feature in other.xml (in CSC) but not inside VODB folder. I tried to restore system files from an earlier CWM backup (when Snote works) but no LUCK. Hmmm not sure what causes. I hate to re install everything just for Snote, I may install alternative Note app then. Grrrrr
Can anyone extract Snote app so i can try to side load it?
Thanks
The files you added probably made it crash. If you install a clean wiped rom, it shouldn't have any more crashes.
Ok, Im running shiny 4.2.2 (stock based rom), I just recently flash this one and I remember the Rom I was running before had a direct dial feature in the phone settings along with all the other advanced settings. Now this is what I've been doing for the past 2 days, downloading every Rom I could think of that I ran on a desktop, extracting the system/apps and installing Contacts.apk, ContactsProviders.apk and Phone.apk of course being on a stock based rom some worked some didn't. I know that RootBox has a mms.apk that has a direct dial feature built into the settings, so I'm thinking maybe it was rootbox that had that same thing in the phone settings, but when I try and install those 3 apk's that I need I get force closes everywhere ( android.process.acore) most of all and I have to resore a nandroid. Does anyone have any instight on what I could do or if it's even possible to get it to work with shiny rom?
The original contacts app
I had kind of the same problem. That error is shown when you don't have any app which can handle contacts and hence it takes down the whole package down including messaging, calling, etc. I tried the same extracting and attempting to install. It doesn't happen. The only thing that worked for me was titanium backup. I had the contacts backup there. I restored it with it data and things are A-okay.
Hi, my mom has the Dual modification (GT-I9192). Recently I installed Lineage OS 14.1 with Android 7.1.2 on her phone (because Android 4 didn't support many modern applications already), and she can't get used to the new dialer and contacts applications. She constantly misclicks contacts on the Favorites screen and keeps calling wrong people.
I wonder if it's possible to somehow rip the original apps from the stock firmware and transfer them to the new one, because my mom really liked them. I had downloaded stock firmware (I9192XXUAMH2), opened it with ext4 unpacker, found app folder, but I can't find the right one. SecContacts.apk is what I'm looking for? Anyways, I just don't know the right way to do it. I gained root on the device and looked into the priv-apps folder of the new system, found Dialer and Contacts applications. No sign of SecContacts which I could try switching by the old one. And I'm not sure that it would even be compatible, thinking of different Android versions. Maybe I need some sort of flashable zip of the dialer app for flashing in recovery mode (I use TWRP, but it's not very relevant, I suppose)?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
