So 2 days ago i got a htc desire to play around with. today it falls screen first from my hand onto some stones, pick it up and the digitalizer is destroyed. Luckily the screen is perfectly fine. Do you think its worth replacing and how much would it cost. Screenshots are attached. Thanks...Sam

Thanks...Master Roloracer.
BTW,cant wait to try your titanium changer 2.....but thats another topic.
no prob, just get the phone fixed and we'll worry about that later.
Good luck, follow the guide and all will be well
I've got mt screen cracked before......twice.
The first time, I've sent it to a repaircenter.
The repairticket stated clearly that ONLY the screen should be repaired.
They did'nt repair it, but swapped the mainboard.
All data/progs and tweeking effords gone....
2nd time, I've ordered a display online and went for the operation myself.
It took me about half an hour to get the job done. Without that beautiful
Guide that is.
Good luck and be careful with those tiny parts!
Im suprised I never cracked mine considering how many time I sat on it and slept on top of it. Good luck with your repair. Ive seen new dash's on ebay sell as low as $70, just something to consider.

OK...I've got parts yesterday and have to say that those are really genuine ones!(...or really really solid fakes)!
Today I needed 1.5 hours to replace complete LCD screen, middle, back and front covers, with all small (OMG how tiny they are...) parts. Everything fits perfectly and now phone looks and feels like brand new one.
I have to mention that several parts are, kind of glued to the housings (especially middle one) so those need extra careful removing in, as much as possible, dust free area.
Also I used service manual downloaded from net, so if anybody needs it or any kind of help/advice I'm here for you...
BR
where you bought it?
My poor arc has been scratched on the screen, i don't know if i need a case or a complete LCD Screen
Hi there im a new xperia arc user, well i droped my phone and the glass cracked(very easy). Then i sent it to sony ericson service and they told me that the repair cost is 147 euro . Is that normal price for just a glass? does anybody know?

Cost i have no idea..
But with touch screen glass is not just glass..
It could be The Capacitivie touch screeen or the LCD or both..
Just guessing.. No idea what they cost.. You should find out if someone else had an equivalent repiar job done and price they paid..
Yeah i did the same thing, i was told £180 pound.
The screen is fine its the digitizer that is cracked like yours, i picked one up on ebay for £24.
Arrived fine, was OEM. just need to fit it myself, or find someone to fit it for me.
Their is a actual manual from SonyEricsson in .pdf format that explains how to take the screen out.
If you want it, ill try to find it on my laptop

Hmm ty guys for your help, as i see im gonna pay that 147 euro as i dont think i could manage to put that glass myself..stupid service
you cant get a standalone digitizer for arc. It comes as a pair with digitizer and lcd. I tried changing just digitizer and screen stopped working. You can get it on ebay for about £50
If i understood corectly u bought a digiter and u tried to put it on your own, but screen didnt worked.. would it be waste of time if i tried? what do you think?

That is correct. The screen and the digitizer come as one assembly. When I tried to take the digitizer off on its own the lcd screen back panel ripped off and wouldnt work again.
I see..thank you for your information and your time, u was very helpful to decide what im gonna do.. im gonna give 147 to sony ericson service for not having troubles in my mind!! Anyway, sone ericson dissapointed me..i searched on youtube for instructions to replace the digitizer and lcd on phones (for example nokia) and i found it very easy job, easy enough to do it your self..
if you buy it from ebay its very easy to install it yourself but i will warn you staright away the quality of images will decrease. When I replaced mine i was very disappointed. Blue colours became greener, and lines appeared when tilting phone. Much better to let sony do it but it is very expensive. Nearly half the price of the phone.

The screen quality should only decrease if it's not original screen from sony.
There are screens on ebay that are original.
Beware of imitations.
I'm buying one today so hopefully get my arc back up and put this Vivaz back in the drawer lol
well, good luck with your arc!!
yh says genuine and original but they are not. Post back here see if you can see a difference. I noticed it instantly.

Also Soldier33, how did you manage to pull your screen off, did you disemble the connections then pull it off with a suction cup of something ?
This is my main concern, is pulling the screen off, as i dont think you can push it out from inside the phone !

I might give it a try tomorrow then, will post results, if it goes well.
If it dont go well, i wont be on this forum for a while lol :S
I used the suction cup from my shower sponge lol. It was big enough to hold on and not too small to come off with force. But make sure you pull it from the buttons side not the top or you will rip the ribbon cable.
Thanks for the tips. Also does the screen come out with the digitizer?
I mean are they liked stuck together with glue or any thing?
Because i just need to replace the digitizer, but worry about the screen not staying in
Sent from my Arc to your eyes.
After getting frustrated i made a bad decision and decided to punch my phone.
now i need to fix my phone.
it appears i have broken the digitizer. on tearing the phone down it seems the screen and digitzer are the same unit.
can anybody else confirm or deny this. it is a htc desire hd.
it has definately been fixed at some point in its life because theres alot of dust between the digitizer and screen.
any help will be greatfully recieved
i had another look.... they are seperate.......

Hi, i've changed my screen 2 months ago, and i can tell you that is better that you buy the screen with the digitalizer and the frame. All the kit, then search some video on youtube about disassembly and in 1 hour you will have your phone running again, it's easier than seems, you'll sure for that.

You can try to change just the digitalizer, but is riskie, so i you broke the screen, then you can order the entire kit, so, don't worry!

Yep ok so yes the best way is to replace both digitizer and lcd at the same time, after applying a small amount of pressure to stick the 2 together i put a small crack into the lcd (ggggrrrrrr) ( literally the smallest amount of pressure) so that was really good advice there.
I will be purchasing a new lcd as i do enjoy this phone..
many thanks for the offer of buying it. yes the micro usb works fine, if it appears that i am unable to fix it i will be more than happy to sell it......
Bottom Line Replace both Digitizer and lcd and even housing if poss at the same time....
thanks for your advice and suggestions.
I attempted to fix my cracked plastic on my phone but broke a ribbon in the process. this ribbon is located on the top left which apparently controls the touch feature for the screen. my phone no longer works with my fingers, but only works with the pen. is this an easy fix, or will i need to get a whole new digitizer?
You're up for a new digitizer
oh dear.. my worst nightmare confirmed.
i think ill just go get a new phone tbh...
