Hi,
I just sold iPad 3 for my note and glad but for the one item and that is not being able to watch my TV in HD on my tablet. Great in winter tucked up watching programmes in hd on iPad but can't on this.
I use bbciplayer and sky go. None of them have hd on this samsung, is this fault of tablet or Android system and is there a way around this to get hd back. The screen resolution was one of reasons to purchase this but shame If cannot be used to watch TV in 1080.
Any help would be appreciated,
CHEERS
Yeah its annoying but its the problem of the apps, bbc and sky haven't made HD available for Android but it's just a matter time. Only a month ago sky make skygo available for tablets - android does get things slowly but things are finally looking up. Just have to be patient a guess.

Anyone tried it out yet, or would be willing to try it out, or think it will work with the n7? If so, could this be the best option(?) for media for those with the 8gb model. I plan on trying it out when I get mine.

Yeah, I'm very interested in this also. Another reason I am not too worried about being limited to 8GB. It would be great if someone who has access to a Nexus 7 could test this out and share their experience with it, if not I will probably just buy it and check it out myself when I finally get mine. I'm interested to see how well it works for basic tasks, gaming, and watching videos/movies. My ultimate dream would be to stream my Xbox 360 games to a tablet like this, and play something like MW3 on the go.

I agree.. I downloaded PLEX and it's been keeping me looking for more.. I wonder if Splashtop HD will support JB and how long it will be discounted 8.99 (usually 19.99) in the play store.. I hope until the n7 delivers

Splash top HD is listed as not compatible with the nexus 7 but the regular splash top is. Also there's a splash top two coming out for android soon. I think I will get this with my credit but I want the kinks to be worked out first.
Anyone try it already?
I'll try loading up my backup from my tab when its comes next week

What's the difference between the HD version and the regular version? I can't really find anything on their website or from Play Store (other than "optimization" for Android 3.x or 4.x tablets).
As far as I can tell the regular splash top is designed for smaller screens.
I wouldn't mind buying this as long as it is still on sale when they have made it compatible

Afaik hd users will be getting free lifetime subscription to the new version when it comes out (at least they are doing that for ipad people). I got an email about it since I own the standard version. Seems like otherwise it's like 1.99 for the app and 9 dollars a year, which still isn't terrible.
i got the free version from amazon when it was the free app of the day!! cant wait to try it out
That's what I have. It works well and looks good to me streaming movies. That's one reason I was wondering what the HD added.

The non hd version is going to be upgraded to version 2
I have just bought it as it works on my phone as well
Will test it on the n7 later on

I just bought the THD version and I can't seem to get it to work on my Nexus 7. The regular HD version works great though. I emailed them regarding this. Anyone else tried the THD version?

I was curious to try it out but the hd version doesn't even show up in the play store on my n7
The regular version seems to work, THD gives me a black screen when trying to remote connect, I'm going to email support and see if there is something in the works, because I am unsure if I need to grab the THD version or the HD.

I'm also getting a black screen on my Nexus 7. It is connected because touches on the nexus translate to the comp, it's just not displaying the video on the Nexus screen.
I'd love for them to get the THD version working. Playing big PC games on smaller devices was always one of the most exciting potentials of Splashtop, and the fact that they support bluetooth controllers and special screen overlays in the THD version is awesome.
It's especially silly because the Tegra tablets they made this version for probably didn't sell at all, but here's the Nexus, which has the potential to sell a whole lot and it doesn't work on it. =(
If anyone gets a response from Splashtop please post it here.

I had emailed Splashtop about the fact that the Anywhere access for free is available for any of the Splashtop "vets", they said that the new feature is unavailable currently for Android, however "we will provide the original SPlashtop Android user the free AAP feature. Please stay tuned, it's coming soon!"
So I guess this means that v2 for HD will be compatible w/the N7? Because it's still listed as incompatible as of this posting...
so should i buy hd now or wait to its compatible? because i already have the normal splashtop from amazon.
Hey guys,
Just wanted to let everyone know that after purchasing the GN 10.1 2014, I have been absolutely loving the device. Yes there is a little lag here and there but this is a fantastic device. The one thing that I was very excited about was to watch HD movies on this gorgeous screen. Well come to find out when I entered into the Google play store to purchase a movie, the option for HD version had a note attached saying this device does not support HD playback. I wanted everyone to know this as I was unaware this high resolution screen was incapable of HD playback before I spent the $600.00.

The title of your post is deceiving, The tablet definitely Supports HD Playback, you can load your own videos in there and it will look amazing. Maybe play store just hasn't approved of HD for this tablet yet, You can try to get videos from Samsung Hub with the free $50 gift card

Thanks for the input and I have corrected the title. Where is the spec sheet or Some other info showing HD play back support?

The screen resolution is 2560x1600 which is much higher than HD (1920x1080). I don't think it'll say HD play back support explicitly on the spec sheet, but the CPU is more than capable of playing 1080p videos. I've been able to do it since I had my Galaxy S3. Also if you watch a video on youtube, it'll play HD videos. You can verify that it is HD by clicking on the action overflow button (3 dots) on a YouTube video and it'll say HD rather than just HQ.

It does say HD play back and record http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/galaxy-tab/SM-P6000ZWYXAR-specs.
You can also go to Media hub and watch free HD Tv content.
just install a player like MX Player or BS Player and load your own movies on it. The device is easily capable of 1080p content.
So given all of that, does anybody know what specifically the issue is with the Play Store? Is it a restrictive policy issue due to licensing agreements or something similar, or have they just not entered the model number into some database that tells the system that this is a HD capable device?
I purchased a movie from Google Play and 2 movies from Samsung Hub. When I play them on my tablet ever now and then there is a noticeable jitter/missed frame or whatever the term! They all downloaded to my tablet so this is not a wifi issue. Last night I wanted to give it a try when my daughter was over on our family TV using the AllCast hub and it was pitiful! Yes we can now blame wifi except for the fact that we also have Apple TV, she has an iPad, and we watched a movie from her iPad flawlessly!
Big win Apple!
Has anybody else bought any movies and if so how is it working for you?
Update:
1) I just played this on my last year's model of the Note 10.1 and it does much better on the TV
2) Since I can use both tablets the download must be just to my account and not actually to my tablet like I thought
HI guys. Can someone please recommend a decent method of being able to wirelessly display my nexus 7 FHD on my 42" LCD TV. It isnt a smart tv so I need a device to do this but I want to be able to play games on my tv using the Nexus as well. I have seen a few dongles for about £30 on amazon but they all have dodgy reviews. The cheaper the better but I obvs want something that will work flawlessly. Please can you guys give me some advice and your recommendations?
Many thanks

The SlimPort is a great device. I do not personally own it but I know people who own it and they say it works flawlessly. Since I cannot post links yet I suggest you go to Amazon and type SlimPort.
In android 4.4 in the display section of the settings there is an option to cast screen and since it says "cast" it leads people to believe the chromecast will be updated at some point to mirror screens, however it doesn't have that capability at this time but it will be a great option when/if it happens!

I was surprised when the Nexus 7 cast screen feature in the display settings worked with my Samsung All share Cast dongle, but it isn't that good by any means. But then, not even my Samsung S3 does screen casting to the dongle very efficiently either. So, slimport tethering is the way to go using a Bluetooth keyboard with touchpad to remotely control the Nexus.

The Netgear PTV3000 has been pretty flawless for Miracast so far. Just make sure you don't have any other devices operating on the 5 GHz band when you're using it. HTH.
How's it going Android community? I purchased an Amazon Fire TV partly to mirror my Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 to my TV. Unfortunately, when I try it doesn't work. Has anyone been able to make this work, and if so, how? Thanks.
It also didn't work with my Nexus 5 at first.
Try in the settings, wifi, advanced to force just the 2,4 ghz band.
This helped me

Thanks for replying. Are you referring to the wifi settings on the Fire TV, or on the tablet? I looked in the Fire TV settings and didn't an option for it, or on my Galaxy Tab 3 8.0. I think I read that the next big update for the Fire TV will be this month on the 15th.

on the galaxy tab. settings, wifi, advanced, wifi frequency - only 2.4 ghz. the settings at your device might be different
I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. I have an adapter that connects the tab to my tv via HDMI. The cable on the adapter is very short, so I bought a 15 ft. HDMI cable from Amazon for $15. This allows me to sit on the sofa and use the tablet.
Whatever I'm doing on the tablet shows on the tv. Works fine.

Yeah, I know I could've done something like that, but the Amazon Fire TV look so cool, I thought I'd give it a shot. I know in the specifications for the Fire TV on Best Buy's site says you can mirror the Fire HD Tablet to it, but then the Fire TV Stick says you can mirror any Android phone to it. I went for the Fire TV because of it's ability to add external storage, which would let me install more than what the internal storage allows. If the Stick offered the same feature, I would've gone with that. My main purpose for mirroring the tablet is for gaming, and I have a lot of games on the thing, over 50 I think.

Considering how much fun I'm having with the stick version, the box, with it's additional capabilities, I'm sure is even moreso. I bought the stick primarily for Amazon Prime. Any additional apps, etc., are icing on the cake. If all the stick did was play Prime content, I still would have bought it, even at the regular price (got it at Best Buy for $25).The only games I have installed on my tablet right now are solitare, a word game called Jumbline 2, a crosswords game, and a hidden oblects game called The Room. I have a few dozen others on my Amazon cloud but I really don't play them enough to warrant installing them. Movies are my passion (TCM is the most watched channel in our house). As long as the stick continues to play movies from Amazon Prime, and from my PC ( which it does perfectly using Vimu player) I'm a happy camper. But I'm still reading and learning about things that can be done with both the stick version and the box version, so it's very possible I'll buy the box. If I do I'll connect the stick to a second tv.
Happy Gaming!
