I'm currently on 4.2.2 , 1.10.605.15 I have removed the S - off , and rooted my phone with rum runner. But since I deleted some bloatware it wont let me update to 4.3. I was reading on the forums that I can re install the firmware somehow but I don't know how. Can anyone provide me with 4.2.2 , 1.10.605.15 Verizon htc one firmware and directions to re install this to my phone ? I don't want to actually update to 4.3 as of now because their is no available root , but I do want to have the capability to upgrade when the root is available. Thank you.
Look for the return to stock thread in this QA section or the Verizon HTC one general section. All info is there.

What's so attractive about going to 4.3, given that several 4.4 ROMs are available to you right now?

Although we have a lot of great 4.4 roms, none of them are based on an official release. Some people, such as myself, prefer roms based on official Sense builds because of the stability/reliability they offer. I've been on Bonestock since I've had this thing and have had literally no problems.

Anyways i have desire z from bell unlocked on fido and not rooted so when android 2.3 is out for this phone can i get it OTA, do i have to rooted just to update it, or do i have to switch to bell to update it?
I'm sure the update will be here on the forums before you get any OTA.

Oh i dont need to root my phone to update from the forums?
If you leave your phone how it is, on the stock ROM, eventually you should get a 2.3 OTA update.
But custom ROMs will be available here on the forums with 2.3 way before then. If you want one then you will have to root and S-OFF.

No. I pushed the G2's OTA from my sd card and I wasn't rooted. Like steviewevie said you're most likely to see a custom rom with the updates before any OTA hits a G2.

And if you have a Custom Sense ROM installed, you don`t get the
OTA Update or rather can`t install this!
Custom ROMs don`t like OTA keys, right?

That's right. But that shouldn't be a problem, because a custom ROM will almost certainly get a 2.3 update before any 2.3 OTA comes out.
Root it now, while you still have the chance!
You can count on the next OTA update taking away the emmc reset vulnerability exploited by wpthis.
I am new to the anrdoid scene(One X is my first Android after years of BB and iOS devices) and have a few questions. My One X is currently on OTA 1.28.720.10 I see that most of the roms are 1.29.401.11 based. Will i need to update to those versions before rooting and flashing those ROMs. I would've updatedto 1.29.401.11 if i could but when I checked for new updates on the phone I was told that no new updates were available(i am guessing this has something to do with my region, which is india)
complete noob here, i wanted to not be such a Pain in the A** but i searched the forum to no avail....

no you do not need to update to latest firmware for you to be able to flash the latest custom roms. just backup your current rom and flash the one that you like and that is it follow the guide on how to install the rom which should be on the OP of the rom of your choice and your good to go

Thats is what i thought, but i was reading through a couple of threads over in the HOX android dev section and ran into this post by JDR0ID(whose Exodized rom I plan to flash) -
Ok, i think i know why i have so much battery drain lol!!! im 1.26 firmware (0.43 HBOOT) on a 1.29 rom lol!?!?! I have never updated firmware and ive just noticed.!!!! im going to have to revert to stock to update right?

They then proceed to talk about HBOOT version, and i have no idea what that is. So does that mean that if I dont update to 1.29 based rom I will not get the latest HBOOT version and I will have issues with his rom?

right say you are on 1.28 firmware and you want to flash 1.29 custom rom you will not be fully updated. you can do that by RUU or wait for an OTA update from your carrier. i was on 1.28 firmware but still flashed the latest custom roms. why you ask. cause i just love the roms..you do not get fully updated due to the s-off issues but i never had issues so i do not see why you should either
all honesty i do not see any difference having an old HBOOT or an old one. what i know is that when changing roms you do get the latest radio. if you go into settings and about phone and check baseband version you will see you will be on the latest one.. that is the most important bit for me. hope that clears things up
EDIT: what i normally do is this. before i flashed a custom rom i backed up my stock rom. then whenever there was an update i just restored my backup rom and installed the OTA. once i done that and was updated i flashed the custom rom again ..and that is it..i had the latest hboot and all was rosy. you can flash an RUU but i never tried that so i can not help on that..but there are a few threads in the development section were you can read about

Well if you're flashing stock official, you need to remove root.
Otherwise, just follow the ROM's OP instructions.
Nope . Didnt want to deal with rooting it again for stock. Didnt know if modem or bootloader need update to flash any of the roms here on xda.

Some of them require bootloader update but it should say so in the ROM's OP that you choose to flash.
Hello everyone,
I have searched the site for some ways to unlock my device. I am running liquidsmooth 4.4.4 and as far as I know there is no way to unlock customs Roms running 4.3/4.4, unless you go back to the original stock rom and use either AT&T or third party site unlock code. So, I called AT&T and they provided me with the unlock code and they told me the same thing, the unlock code will not work until you go back to the original factory stock rom!
So, I have been searching here for the right 4.3 stock rom and I found out many posts and I got confused which to use. I would highly appropriate it if any one can help me and direct me to the right source/process for 4.3 stock rom steps and installation so I won't brick my phone.
Thanks in advance

If your bootloaders are on 4.4, you can't downgrade them (or you'll brick!).
You can use Terminal Emulator to know which one you're on:
Code:
getprop ro.bootloader
Once you know which one you have, you can go ahead and grab its stock version.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1968625
i think this thread provides stock downloads.
good luck.

Thanks for the reply, I checked the bootloader as you said and I got ( I747UCDLK3 ). So, I am guessing that I am still on 4.3 because the last bootloader update was through this process:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2387423
I tried to flash the stock file update4.3.zip on that thread using TWRP but it did not work.
Any idea?
Thanks again

Thanks for your kind reply. Is there any different to choose between the download options. I know it says the first one is the newest one, I am downloading

So I hope it is the right one!?
I already have the stock rom 4.3 from

But as I said on the previous reply not sure why I can't flash the update43.zip through the recovery?
Best,,,,

LK3 is 4.1.1. I'm guessing the 4.3 bootloaders update didn't work at all.
Now that you know you have LK3, just grab the stock firmware and flash it. (backup first)

This is really strange. So, if I may ask, how my bootloader is still 4.1.1 and I am able to flash 4.3/4.4 roms? Also, if I install I747UCDLK3 can I go back to 4.3 custom roms without updating the bootloader!!! because that what I did last time I follwed the steps in below web site to be able to flash 4.3 rom,,,,, but apparently I am still on 4.1.1 bootloader!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2387423
4.3 roms could still be flashed on older firmware. 4.4 roms too as long as they are not touchwiz. If its a touchwiz 4.4.2 rom you must have at least 4.3 firmware though.
Hi i want to know if i can flash an original 4.3 firmware my bootloader is I747MVLUFNE6 can i go back or i will brick my phone if i tried?
No you cannot downgrade firmware. You can only flash the same or newer builds. Or you can flash older roms and kernels, but nothing else.
Can someone make things clear for me ?
am S-on , firewater doesnt work

If there is an OTA on your version, than yes you can update that way, which will also update your firmware.
Stock ROM and stock recovery are required to OTA.

after that i can flash 4.4.4 custom rom ?

will upgrading Ota make me capable of flashing 4.4.4 custom roms ?

Flashing a 4.4.4 ROM while on 4.4.2 or 4.4.3 firmware will result in broken WiFi (and possibly very long boot times as well). You need to be on 4.4.4 firmware, its simple as that.
Return to stock, OTA to 4.4.3, than OTA to 4.4.4. This will put you on the current firmware.
Or just s-off. I think someone on here mentioned that the sunshine devs will accept gift cards as payment for locations that don't support PayPal.
