[Q] Kindle restore ROM - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a kindle fire 6.3.2, and a few years ago my friend rooted it for me. A few days ago it started misbehaving, pulling the notifications down on every touch. So i decided to restore it (with little knowledge), and did a factory settings reset. The problem is that even after the reset the notifications still pull down all the time and the keyboard miss-types often. To get to the point, i tried the kindle fire utility, and whatever i try to do it starts normally but stops and says: <waiting for device>. I tried updating the drivers but an error comes up and the installation fails. I tried getting the stock ROM from amazon.com like another thread suggested, renamed it to update.zip, and according to the instructions i had to reboot. I rebooted and it boots up regularly. I tried many threads on xda, a few youtube videos, tried everything i did 3 times, and made sure the file is a zip file. Can someone please help me.

In Despair, desperate help needed!!!

Hi all, I am completley new to all of this side of technology, and rooting my kindle fire seemed an easy task, and it probably is but i think i have well and truly messed it up and any help will make me a happy man again!!!
I carried out the procedure using the KFU, at first my device was not online, so i used the method described via device manager which worked fine, the device was online and i carried out the permanent root with super user, everything went fine, i then went on to install from the extras the google play bit.
This is where things have gone wrong i think, as now the kindle will turn on but it gets stuck on a screen with kindle fire written across it the fire bit is an orange colour, i can get it to boot into twrp screen via the recovery boot aswell.
But everytime i try to connect to the KFU its always say offline no matter what i do. Is there a way to start over agan????
Like i said im new to all of this and have read a few how to's and explanation threads but i get easily confused, lol!!!!
Cheers
You can try clearing the cache/dalvik cache using TWRP and rebooting, but that probably won't help. If you are prepared to lose all of your settings, installed apps, etc. do a factory reset in TWRP and reboot. It should complete the boot process then. Otherwise, you're looking at reflashing the stock software and starting over... in which case, I recommend you just flash modaco and be done with it.
Whatever the case may be, learning about how your device works will help you out in the long run...

Go back to the Kindle fire utility and press option 1(bootmode) then normal boot (4000) no matter if it says offline it will still work m8.:good:
Give it a shot

If i Restore to factory settings.. is my KF still rooted?

So i rooted my kindlefire previously and i believe that it was a success. But after messing with certain programs i believe i moved an incorrect folder to a wrong location causing my fire to (at the time what i thought) brick. My kindle after sitting on my desk for 6 months thinking it was bricked i touched the button and it turned on a booted up. First thing i did was Restore factory settings. Is my kindle still rooted even after factory setting restore? When i download the Fire kindle utility and run the superuser.apk it runs and says i dont have the lastest TWRP installed and it will manually install it for me. It goes through the running process and then it tells me Opps. Error while trying to run. Error found in recovery twrp. How do i go about getting past this error?

That's a kfu issue that need to be fixed hang tight till its confirmed resolved

[Q] Bad bootloader? Stuck on blue kindle fire screen.

I really hope I can find someone to help me get this working.
Kindle fire hd 8.9
Ive been going around in circles for about two days trying to get CM10.2 on this thing. I've done a ton of reading and have reflashed probably a dozen times.
So, firstly I've installed HFFirstAide, used this program to downgrade to firmware 8.2.1. Then I disabled the auto update, turned on adb and allowing 3rd party installations (cant remember the acronym atm).
Then I rooted my device, transferred fireflash11.apk
kfhd8-freedom-boot-8.4.6
dfhd8-twrp-w.6.3.1-recovery
the stack override file
cm-10.2-20131115-UNOFFICIAL-jem.zip
gapps-kk-20131209
I should mention that i performed a md5 check on all of the files and they were fine.
After installing and running fireflash, and plugging the freedom boot and twrp into their slots (yes I checked the boxes as well), I ran the program and rebooted into recovery. Once there I did a backup, wipe of my cache, system, data, and devlik cache (ive also tried just a cache and a devlik wipe, factory reset ect. I've done this about 20 times.)
I then installed the cm zip and rebooted. (doing a wipe on subsequent attempts didn't make a difference).
Every single time I get stuck on the blue kindle fire logo. I can still access twrp and after restoring i get the same freezup. Only thing i can do from here is use kffirstaide to reinstall factory os.
I've tried other firmware zips with the same result. Lastly I tried just installing twrp and did a reboot without flashing a rom (i read somewhere that you could have twrp and amazon os no problem), and it still sticks on that same screen.
What am I doing wrong here?
Finally worked on the 22nd try.
mods please delete
What you were doing wrong was that you posted the message in the wrong forum. Anyone who did not read you have a kindle fire HD 8.9 and gave your advice, your device could have been bricked

[Q] Kindle Fire 1st gen Stuck at Boot Logo

Hey Everyone,
I have been using these forums for the last year and a half and It has helped me a whole bunch to successfully root all of the android devices my family has. I have however ran into a problem with a 1st gen Kindle Fire. It is stuck at the orange and white kindle fire logo. So a little background, I have rooted this Kindle in the past and succeeded in flashing Cyanogenmod's jb. I changed it back to the old Kindle interface so that my sisters can use it for reading but they wanted to use it for games. I decided that I should just change it back to jb since I would have to go through the trouble of flashing google play. Now, here's when things go wrong.
I started by using KFU 0.9.6 since I was lazy and didn't want to go through my old method. I granted SU and also installed TWRP and FireFireFire. now, I found a rom by Cyanogenmod cm10.1.3otter and decided to flash it onto my device. Everything went fine but it wouldn't boot past the Cyanogenmod boot screen. So I put another rom on (cm10.1.2) and flashed that. It worked and i started using it under the assumption there was nothing wrong. I later discovered when entering the internet password that my keyboard was not working and nothing would allow it to work. I then decided that I would get the kindle rom back on and factory reset and wipe the device. When I flashed the Kindle rom and restarted it, It got stuck and would not boot past the Orange and white kindle fire logo. After 2 full charges and 48 hours, it is still stuck. I tried to check if the kindle showed up under ADB devices and it does but when I run adb shell(for one of the guides) it comes up with "no such file or directory." When I run KFU, adb is online but boot status is unknown. When I try to run any of the tools in KFU, waiting for device is shown and does not go away despite disconnecting and reconnecting/ power on and off.
I have been looking nonstop for the past two days without any help. I have tried to follow many of the guides online, but I never succeed. Can someone please help me solve this problem, I am completely stuck.

You must enable adb on cm10 for one and the driver has to be modified for the pc to detect it due to pid and vid changes in cm10.

I am aware of that however, I cannot boot to cm10. If i could boot to cm10, I would know what to do but right now I am still stuck at the kindle fire logo.

[Q] Kindle is stuck in perpetual bootloop and is not detected via USB

I'm not sure how it happened but the details on the bootloop:
The kindle should be on the most recent stock version of Kindle. It boots up like normal, I get to the "Slide to unlock" screen and as soon as I slide it gives me a "Sorry" error followed by a notification that Calendar Storage and android.preocess.acore has stopped unexpectedly and prompts me to force close. Even during all that the Kindle constantly reboots after 5-20 seconds.
I was previously on Chameleon OS and had to install TWRP 2.2.2.1 to revert back to stock rom and did so accordingly. Of course, I took prior steps to make sure all drivers have been installed. Everything went as planned until after initial setup and now I'm stuck in this loop.
I wasn't worried at first since I had fixed a bootloop issue a year before and simply used the KFU and unbricking methods to get back into TWRP to fix my issues but now this isn't the case. My PC will detect the Kindle but I simply cannot get it to interact with KFU nor get into any recovery. On KFU the status is always "Unknown" but online only until the Kindle restarts again. The Unbricker tool also cannot detect it nor do adb commands.
I'm at a loss. I'm sure I probably messed something up but I can't explain how I managed to install the stock rom without the core processes. And I tried to power down and recharge in case it were a battery issue but I also didn't think that was the case either since I could use it for several hours extended use just before attempting to revert to stock.
Any help is greatly welcomed and if I left any critical information out please inform me!
Thanks in advance
