Hi all the experts!
so This question is regarding Downgrading from 4.3 to 4.1.2
I'll point form my question to save everyone's time
- I have canadian variant of SN2 (i317m) and recently upgraded to 4.3 (biggest mistake!!), where build is I317MVLUCMK5
- I'd like to return to 4.1.2 (I317MVLBMA3), So I tried to flash with ODIN, it fails..... i think its probably due to KNOX
- I've read and tried many methods, but most of them are for i317, not i317m
- I really don't care about (KNOX counter = warranty), but the thing is I don't know how to do this process (It might be real simple for expert)
PLEASE help me with this issue!
EDIT:
If I succeed to root my phone (4.3), does this mean that odin will not give any more FAIL message when flashing 4.1.2 stock ROM??
The fail in Odin is likely due to the presence of an older bootloader in the stock package you are using.
If a stock package without bootloader is not available I can modify this one and remove the bootloader and tz files.

that would be so nice and I'd really appreciate that.
Apparently, I can't find one(4,1,2) without bootloader (Knox thing I believe),
Could you please help me with this problem?
all I want is return to 4.1.2 !!

I found some here...
http://androidromupdate.com/2012/11...-sgh-i317m-canada-original-stock-romfirmware/
Which carrier ?
I have a premium account for http://rapidgator.net. I can download if you all want.
They'll probably have the bootloader so it needs some Zen magic.
Rogers 4.1.2 I317MVLBMA3

carrier is ROGERS, and from those site, I think it is I317MVLBMA3 4.1.2 Stock Firmware, but isn't this still file still containing bootload which my current 4.3 version note2 can't install in Odin?
I'm little confused!
but still, thank you so much!

You are right, I missed where you said you had it already.
I figured there would not be one out there and found one for Zen to modify.
I'm downloading it now and I can post it somewhere he can download it from.
He can grab it from my link or you can let him know where you found it, and grab it from there.
The host from my link has slow download speed if you don't have a premium account. That's why I offered.
Sorry for the confusion.

The race is on! I'm downloading both the LJ2 and the MA3 firmwares for Rogers.
If the LJ2 is the same as for AT&T, it won't contain the bootloader - so you could try flashing that. Granted it's 4.1.1 and if you try to OTA from it, you'll need to follow Mr. Steele's 4.1.1 to MK6 guide (post #2) to get to likely the last 4.1.2 release for Rogers.
But... once I have MA3 in my hands, I'll strip out the sboot and tz files and repackage for Odin... My downloader counter says 5 hours so it won't be until tomorrow unless DS gets them turned around faster :good::good:

Yes. With the bootloader removed you should get a completed flash. Coming back from 4.3 I believe you need to do a factory reset from recovery afterward. Follow the guide for i317. (perez6991 or dicksteele)

Okay I downloaded the file without bootload (Thanks to ZEN )
1. I opened ODIN, chose the modified .md5 file from PDA, checked on Auto-reboot and F.Reset Time
2. Finally, it went through everything fine without any problem like before ( I think because ZEN removed bootload which caused FAIL)
3. I rebooted, but it was stuck on Samsung logo
4. I went into that mode where you press Volume UP + POWER + HOME button
5. format cache and then factory reset
6. now I'm back to 4.1.2 now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH MY GOD ZEN THANK YOU SO MUCH
Glad to hear it worked out for you. Thanks for reporting back with your results. :good::good::victory:

Flashing a bootloader is not harmless. It is one of the few things that can hard brick this device.

Because it was a good warning. Flashing a ROM should not be taken lightly and flashing a bootloader should be done with alot of care as it can brick your device to the point of needed a JTAG to fix.

yes, bootloaders are very serious business. just because this bootloader flashed without error does not mean that the operation is not serious. take note, OP.

1.) Go here (above posted thread link)
2.) Put phone into download mode and then open Odin.
3.) Choose the PDA slot and then select the correct file for your device (AT&T is LK3)
4.) Hit start and wait until its finished.
5.) Done
5.) Remind me that I shouldn't be trying to do this from my phone. All it does it piss me off.

hi i have a note 2 sgh-I317m and im currently on CleanRom 5.0
ive been looking at the new Ditto rom for note 2 and i want to switch, but is there a certain process i have to go through to switch? or can i just upgrade on top of cleanrom atm?
You should follow the op's (developer) instructions..Some of these 4.3 roms want you to flash a file for the 4.3 bootloader...I'd read the instructions very carefully and read as many post as you can because more then usual you'll face the same issues they had...
good luck

If your on 4.1.2 you will need to either flash the att I317 leak if your on att it's on post 226 in the general forum att 4.3 leak or flash a 4.3 bootloader as per the ops instruction in the rom you want. Both use Odin. If you pick the first option it will wipe your device and make you fully stock. So it will require you to root again and flash twrp. The up side it's the most stable way. The second uses Odin to flash. Some have reported problems. Read through the first few pages of the rom to see the issues.

OTA will only work with a stock 3e recovery...
But taking a factory update over the top of a rooted rom is not a good idea...
Backups are done with a custom recovery...and yes...you need to start reading and learning the proper steps or you will end up making a paper weight..... g

It's not locked. It's rollback-protected.
Read this whole thread and you will understand why (except in a few unique situations) you cannot downgrade the bootloader: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2642207
Upgrading the bootloader and stock ROMs is a one-way street for the majority of us.

Awwww ok. well hopefully it works. It will take some of the strain off the people that can't get the full update.zip. Although, they know eventually they will need to download a rom based off NB4. Don't know what's going to happen when they try to update bootloader while still being on an MI7 rom.

The only "benefit" is running the new TouchWiz kitkat builds with WiFi calling on the TMO network. The new bootloader is otherwise considered a downgrade.

I see that there is now 4.4 roms available and been searching over and over on how to go from this rom to a higher version of android.. everything i keep finding is either outdated and links are no longer available.. or the options to update are from 4.3 to 4.4 but im still on 4.1.2
I also need to upgrade to atleast to 4.1.2 so that i am able to flash this phone to page plus and the steps/guide and programs that i will be using required that..
1) Do i need to go back to stock rom first ?
2) Is there a One click Odin zip to go back to stock
3) is there a One click Odin zip to upgrade ?
Dont really care about having to be rooted on this phone as this is just my second line and my NOTE 3 is properly customized...
Please help..
TIA.

[STOCK ROM][4.4] ND8 Kitkat ROM
If you don't want stock but want TouchWiz I suggestThis awesome ROM:

No, just use Odin to flash the stock ND8 ROM, then flash your custom recovery. Boot into ROM ( it'll take a while ) update PRL and profile, then flash another ROM if you want

Since all I could find were the full ROM/firmware Odin packages for the new UVU1COG2, I extracted the bootloader and baseband/modem and made them separate Odin flash-able tar.md5 packages for those that may be interested in only updating these 2 and nothing else. (Example: I'm running CM 12.1, and want to keep it that way, but want to use the newer baseband & bootloader)
Download Link: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=37084
N910TUVU1COG2_baseband.tar.md5 - SHA1: 247B957321EE5A72D439AA2BE05D9F462F492683
N910TUVU1COG2_bootloader.tar.md5 - SHA1: 244F4E55ED265BB14CD6A80409F862DC38E83D95
In ODIN 3.09+:
baseband goes in CP
bootloader goes in BL
Cheers.

// EDIT
By popular request, I've done this for the newest UVS2EPG2 firmware as well. You can find them in the same download link.

Not OCG2... You mean the COG2 bootloader and baseband, if
that's the case you are right...
Just odin flash the two files before flashing the tekxodus upgrade
and be sure to do a full wipe and factory reset before odin flashing..
Good luck,
Have a great day!

Put your device into download mode
Start odin put the modem tar in the pda slot hit start.
Do the same thing for the bootloader.
Very easy I did this ontop of a 5.02 zero issues..

Can you safely downgrade your baseband? I keep reading that COG2 is recommended, but my Note 4 already has DOFC.
Also is COG2 just recommended because of Wifi calling?

You can easily downgrade dofc/dog1 to cog2, cod6 or even nk4 kitkat
by simply doing a full wipe and odin flashing either of those firmwares.
Before odin flashing any firmwares be sure to have a copy of your favorite
custom zip file rom on your external or internal sdcard.
After odin flashing the firmware you have chosen out of those 3 firmwares
simply odin flash twrp recovery, then do a full wipe including factory reset.
No need to re-root because all zip file roms are pre-rooted.
Then simply twrp flash the zip file rom which you have copied to the phone.
COG2 is the latest firmware which has wifi calling working properly
unless you flash any of the dofc/dog1 zip file roms, if you flash any
of the dofc/dog1 roms the wifi calling feature will not work at all.
Good luck,
Have a great day!

So I'm still on NK4 running the Bobcat themed DynamicKat rom. I tried the whole ODIN COG2 then DynamicPop and all was good until I tried to restore my phone back to DynamicKat.
I decided I didn't like not having a theme like I had and presently don't have the time to make anything so all I am trying to do now is have COG2 Bootloader/Baseband but running on KitKat. I feel like I might be missing a step somewhere so if anyone could help that would be appreciated!
