This seems life an artificial limitation created by LG product management. Certainly there is no technical reason that the G2 version could not be made available on the G Pad. The IR transmitter on the G2 lacks the power required to control my Vizio TV at a distance of more than 5-6 feet. The G pad works fine from 3X that distance but can't control my AVR or Blu-ray player. These features are really nice additions but the lack of commitment to have consistent software support is disconcerting. LG is producing some great products with excellent price performance relative to the competition - with better follow through they can have a better chance at growing their customer base more quickly.

I agree i would love to be able control other like the G2 app can i hope they give us to same version at some point.

Part of the issue here is that It looks like the GPad only has an IR transmitter and no receiver. This means that unlike the G2 the GPad would have not have the capability to learn codes. However I may be wrong.

Ok, but I still don't understand why LG would offer less devices that what's on the G2. I would still expect it to be the same.

Well the main reason they're not the same would be is the the G2 price is over $450 for off contract and the G-Pad is $349 retail. So one should not expect the same hardware in both.

Agreed on hardware, but it's the software that is in question. Would have thought they would simply port the app from the G2 to the G-Pad.

Not according to other posts, see above.

Hardware should not be the issue
Hardware aside (and $100 difference in retail price can easily be accounted for by the fact that the G Pad has no GSM/LTE/4G capability), the G Pad has a irblaster and it has a remote application that supports a large number of codes and different manufacturers. We also know that LG has a large database of codes for many different manufacturers and devices. There is no good reason the G Pad remote app does not have access to those codes. LG should get off their butts and release a simple update to include all those codes and devices.

Is there any third party app that works?

I dont know much about java, c++, cooking ROMs and compiling apps but I tried many combinations of LGQRemote.apk, QuickSet.apk and QuicksetSDK.apk from G Pad, G2 and G Pro. I've noticed you can use any stock QuickRemote app either from G Pad or G2, it will work the same way.The deal breaking stuff is the QuickSet.apk. Looks like G Pad needs a QuickSet.apk (which is included in G Pad ROMs, but not in G2), and with this apk both G2 and G Pad QuickRemote apps will work the same way as the stock G Pad QuickRemote. Also if you extrack the stock G Pad LGQRemote.apk, in /res/layout/ you can see files like audio_remote_frame.xml or aircon_remote_frame.xml or in the /res/anim/ files of G2-only devices like audio, dvd, projector etc.
Also looks like the IR software is provided by "Nevo", as I found it in the QuickSet.apk ("2. UEI shall deliver to Recipient the "QuickSetSetup, Setup Service, Devices, and NevoControlSDK" Software for use at no charge to Recipient...")
Sooo, the result of all this stuff: nothing. I really want the other devices from the G2 QuickRemote (especially audio and projector), but I can't do any much
///
False! False! The QuickSet.apk isn't even needed! The stock QuickRemote is working well only with LGQRemote.apk and QuicksetSDK.apk
////
After decompiling both QuicksetSDK.apk's there is a lot of informations. Sad I can't do anything with them
/////
So I'm trying to delete this, change that, copy this and paste that... I'm improvising and I'm sure as hell that it will working!

For those that are daring, I found this thread of a G2 version of the remote that is working for AOSP G2 Roms. Still for the G2 but may work. The main difference that they found was that the app was checking for carriers. Thus it's been hard coded into this version. Again, may not work but for those that want to try.

I find it hard to believe they don't have a working Google wallet considering Mr. Pachai has been using this tablet for months. I'm sure the update will come, hopefully others update their apps too. Google toted more and more tablet apps that look great on the nexus 7 screen, but no tablet apps see the new n7 as a tablet

I think its more of a 4.3 thing than a hardware thing but it could be both. I doubt that they will restrict the new one if the old one used it. BTW there is already a thread for this in q&a section.

The new N7 doesn't have a secure element NFC chip, Wallet will never be (officially) supported for it.

Come on guys, this forum has been open for only a few days and there already is fighting. The point of the matter is that if someone asks a question, do your be best to answer without being a douche. Too much on this site have I seen people judging people for what they want to do with their device (such as taking pictures or using wallet with a tablet, trying to get instagram to work, etc.), its their device and they can do whatever they like with it. No one made you the official judge of whats cool or not! So play nice and help out your fellow members in this Dev community without your personal opinions reflecting in your post

That Androidpolice story is a bit confusing. Does it say that it will never be compatible due to lack of security chip or it may be compatible in the future with updates?
Will never be compatible due to the lack of the secure element chip.

First of all, we are a factory of Bluetooth keyboard cases. Such as leather keyboard folio case for Apple iPads & Samsung tablets, and sliding keyboard case for iPhone, S3, S4 and more.*
*
Because HTC ONE M7 is not selling well, so we didn't start producing this keyboard for M7. *So if there is a order, it has to be 500pcs at least. *Would you like to order similar keyboard as sample, the design, function and quality are all the same.*

Thats kind of cool surprised its magnetic. I have a Magic-Pro ProMini bluetooth keyboard that works pretty well (I'm running ViperOne 3.1.0). Can't get my One to pair with my Apple wireless bluetooth keyboard which worked great as a full size keyboard for my EVO. The price seems kind of low for this as I paid like $60 for my Pro-Mini.

The problem is we haven't gotten any update like on the S4 that explicitly says band 4 has been enabled and the FCC test reports don't show any info about it either. I'm wondering if they left out official support for it like on the Nexus 4, and if there's some way we could force on AWS in the firmware.

Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4
I have the app installed (it came installed on EclipticONE), but the radio is never able to find a station to tune to anything. Based on my searching, it looks like almost all, if not all recent Verizon phones have had FM Radio disconnected in the hardware, so it's not something a software fix will work on. Verizon is just trying to find another way to charge us for data by forcing us to stream radio if we want local stations. (Luckily I still have unlimited data!)

I guess it is not flashing through adb but backup..flashing should be on-device but adb will be used for storing backups on an external storage (PC, Mac etc) for security reasons.
We have kit Kat binaries for sure, we have an official maintainer and our device supports selinux, so guess the only question is if we get the cyanogen recovery for this device or not..for now, very likely we will get CM12

Back-up is what I intended. I think it will get support too.
Found that :
LG G3 S, LG G3 Beat, LG G3 Vigor, LG G2 will get the Lollipop update by January or February while LG G Pro 2, LG G Pro, and LG G Flex will probably get the update by March or April.

Probably, maybe for E980,F240.... Europe models will be probably ignored..
I would be in shock n awe if this phone got an official L update from LG.
Dig it.
I can wait. Will rooting be necessary or will they do this as an OTA push for those of us who have not rooted and are still stock? I am happy with my phone as it is.
Fingers crossed.. But very little hope.
I'll settle for a IR Blaster app that can function under ART (Lollipop's Default Runtime)... :fingers-crossed:

Right, and the Galaxy S5 will still look like Touchwiz, and the HTC One will still look like Sense. I don't understand why people think that OEM's with skins on Android were going to suddenly go all stock for Lollipop. We all bought a phone with a LG UI on it, now it's not good enough, because it doesn't look like a Nexus. I honestly don't understand why people are surprised by this. At all.

Well, I was hoping they would listen to customer feedback and get rid of the crap they call a TW. One can dream...

They have all invested too heavily in their own UI to scrap it for stock. The only way we're getting stock Android is buy a Nexus or flash an AOSP ROM. OEM's are never going to just suddenly go stock.
You all do realize that the UI is the least we should be interested in... Visual look can be modified, themed. I'm far more interested in all the system improvements.

Motorola was nowhere near Samsung or HTC is in their UI. I think the last popular Motorola phone was the Razr.
