Awesome!....Now I could resist the urge of calling/texting back the person I just hanged up on just 2 seconds ago.
No really this is great...THX!

Nice , I find the screen useful but others may not.
I'd much prefer eliminating some of those shadows and making the caller ID picture more prominent.

I did not like that screen either, never had any use for it and when it pops
up it looks and acts like some kind of hesitation or lag in the phone before
it finally goes back to previous screen after any incoming or outgoing calls.
This is a great mod!
Good luck!

Backup should be created in /sdcard/vrthemeundo folder. If you don't have it just replace /system/app/SecPhone.apk with one from the ROM you are using.
OP...long shot question....do you know of any way to flash this via MOP? I am KNOX 0x0 running Wicked, but not able to flash vrthemes, or at least not found a way.

Don't know what MOP is but if you can push apps to /system/app then you can replace classes.dex in SecPhone.apk with the one from this zip and push it back. That's what flashing do.

Why in the world are you still Knox 0x0?? Who gives a crap about Samsungs Knox stuff. Trip your counter. If you mess it up, flash another boot loader from like the s4 or note 2, no one will ever know. Just say it won't turn on. Bam, new phone. Keeping your counter 0x0 is like having a model GF and never sleeping with her.
Your missing so many benefits of kernels and themes.

Reason I didn't want to trip it was for resale value. I've already sold the phone and moved on. Thanks though.

That cracked me up man, that's a perfect analogy because you're exactly right. Whenever people ask me what rooting is, I always say it's basically like giving a rape victim the ability to at least put a condom on their attacker before it happens. You're still gonna get screwed regardless, but at least you can have some control over how it happens! LOL! I definitely know what ya mean as far as Knox goes because I actually popped mine in the parking lot 5 mins after I walked out of the store with it lol.

To each his own and it's obviously up to you how you decide to do things, but what you're doing is literally what they expected you to do. By making people worry about the resale value possibly going down because it has been rooted or more specifically Knox has been tripped, it allows them to stay in control and basically force whatever they want down your throat. Technically there's no such thing as "resale value" with these phones anymore (when it comes to T-mobile at least), because now you're paying for the entire phone over a two year period so by the time you finish paying it off and then try to sell it, you'll never get anywhere near what you paid for it to begin with. It's actually even worse if you go through Jump though because not only are you paying them a down payment for the device, you're also turning it back in to them so you're letting THEM resell it for all the profit.. on top of that you're also paying them another down payment for the next device and the "giant wheel of dongs for your butt" cycle continues. The only way to even kind of "get ahead" is to either buy your phone outright somewhere at a discount or by actually keeping your device for the entire two years to pay it off, because then whatever you're able to sell it for at that point will at least recoupe some of the money you spent on it (and 99% of people buying it outright could care less whether Knox is tripped or not, because Jump has nothing to do with them anyway). So in my opinion "Jump" is nothing but a suckers bet designed for people who have to have the latest and greatest or simply can't wait until their phone is paid off before getting something else. So if you think about it worrying about the resale value is a total waste of time unless you're into suckers bets, and unfortunately it looks like that might be the case considering you said you already moved on. My biggest question would be what could you have "moved on" to that's anywhere near as powerful and awesome as this one?! But that's where to each their own comes in I guess

Yeah pretty much sums it up. I rooted my first note 2 everything was fine then all of a sudden i installed a kernel and it would take 12 hours to charge to full from fulll empty. and about 15 min to even turn on. ever since then i cracked the screen and got a replacement. kinda liking it stock. but kinda wana root it again. only thing stopping me is that i dont want anything to happen to this phone. I DUNNO WHAT TO DO. any suggestions?
I don't understand why you people think root access on a phone is some big mystical journey that must be deeply considered before undertaking on ' the path' . It's one click and it's done. Another click and it's gone. What's the big deal.
Please close this thread. Man. What in the world....

Whether or not you should root your phone is completely up to you. If you like stock, leave it stock. You don't have to go around flashing new kernels or ROMs if you're satisfied with stock. I rooted it because I wanted tethering and unlimited multiwindows... I have the stock kernel and stock ROM but deodexed with a few mods that I like. There are a ton of awesome ROMs out there but I'm not trying to win a popularity/nerd contest as to who can make the most changes to their phones. Make your phone the way you want it and what you want out of it.
Pretty much what i'm saying is are you happy with your phone right now? what would you change about it and is it possible to do this easily?
I thought about rooting also, but I'm happy with it stock and have no issues what so ever. This is the first and only phone I've not rooted. There's always a downside to rooting, whether it be updating, bugs, whatever. I'm enjoying my phone as is with apps I don't like simply disabled.

I personally don't see enough evidence for trolling but I think it was the literary license you took with "Solos' Long journey to finding his fate" that raised the troll alert for some. Had you merely titled it "To root, or not to root" you may have had less suspicions (but who am I to tell you how to express yourself.. some of us tend to be more or less tolerant than others & I found value in your thread)..
You may want to check out my thread as I too was exploring the "to root, or not root" debate given how remarkable the Note2 is. As I mentioned there I honestly am very happy with the all the customization available in Go Launcher over stock TW & so far satisfied with the battery life which prompted the need debate but I also think I should be able to tether wirelessly with my data allotment on occasion & check out Titanium backup & all Avast options that require root so I will likely root-update this weekend as I want zero downtime during the week. I do appreciate the stability I'm currently experiencing so if that becomes compromised I am trusting posters here that its full unroot option would enable easy reversibility. I also currently have Monthly4G™ Handset Protection but hopefully I won't ever have to use it. -Peace
I need to send my phone back to Samsung because they have a 1 year manufacturer warranty per Sprint. If I send them back a Stock but rooted phone will they notice/care? The repair is hardware related not software. I need to get half of the small little hooks that are compressed when the battery is inserted. My only though is they may want to wipe battery stats and when they go into Recovery and notice it's TWRP they might get pissy. Thoughts & experiences? Thanks.

My initial thoughts are as follows:
Samsung bootloaders are unlocked by default and they have indicated that they will not lock them in the future. So I'd think they're more likely to forgive rooting when it comes to their 1-year warranty.
According to Samsung's warranty page, as long as the defects you have are in no way caused by custom ROMs or the rooting process, they should cover the repair. Unfortunately, they have the final say in what caused the damage to the phone and could say that the custom kernel fried whatever part is malfunctioning. I seriously doubt that they'd do that, but it all depends on which service person you get and how good/bad their Monday has been. I'd say it'd be best to triangle-away the flash counter and to restore the stock recovery/rom. As always, qbking77 has a great video on how to unroot, so check it out.
I dont know. Samsung would probably be more "aware" of your phones root state compared to sprint. If its something simple like bad USB port, or burnt pixels, I doubt they would care. If your phones O.S. is jacked or you hard brick your phone, likely they will notice. You can avoid these problems if you install triangle away and have it automatically clear your bootloader every time you boot your device.
Remember,
You are taking a risk when you root your phone. Sometimes you will get a service rep who doesn't know anything about rooting and/or could care less....sometimes you will get an XDA Member service rep pissed you are raising their premium, it all depends.
Thanks everyone for your responses! Awesome I'm glad Samsung is open minded with this matter. Yes there is no way my hardware issue is ROM/Software related so I'm hoping they won't care. I'm still going to flash the stock MB1 ROM and use the paid SuperUser app to hide the icon in the app drawer before sending it out just in case. Thanks everyone!

Hello everyone. This is Clockworkmod Recovery v6.0.2.8 v1 for Optimus G Pro.
As you all know, it's 2nd-init recovery. That means if your phone bricks, only lgnpst will revive your phone.
First its how-to is same as the first one with small letters on it
1. Install application that I uploaded
2. Open it and Click 2nd-init recovery
3. Click Reboot recovery to see it worked.
As you know, we cannot change boot image. That will brick your phone.
And if you want to reboot recovery by pressing button, reboot it and you will see button flickering. Than you have to click any button. Fast.
That's all. And of course, you have to have your device rooted.
Thanks to: 985hPaKicK(WHO MADE THIS RECOVERY) and wkpark(who found out the way to increase font size, see this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30818456&postcount=8)

I'd not remove the bloat if I were you. If your phone boot loops, there is no way into recovery. I'd just freeze the apps using titanium or something instead.

I dunno who created this recovery but until we get a unlocked bootloader theres no way to use this if your softbrick or bootloop. The dev should look into implementing a timeout feature when you reboot your device. The moto phones have this kind of recovery with bootstrap and safestrap. We could use it until we crack this thing.

Yeah ive noticed that. Im debating exchanging mine for a s4. Not sure yet. I have to have at least some kind of aosp or custom rom - kernel.
I'm going to remain patient, but for sure if I don't see any kernels fixing the phone's ability to render live wallpaper without lag I'll be sselling mine and buying the s4 developer edition. That is, as long as it still supports the remote control feature.

Why not just get a regualr s4? Once the bootloader is unlocked you will have aosp. Thats what ill do if i exchange. To be honest ive gone through the lg forums and aside from the nexus 4 these phones dont get much if any love. Shame as this phone is great and has great potiential. Shame i only have a week and 1/2 left to exchange if i have to. I dont see the bootloader being cracked by then.

I have an LG Nitro and there have been quite a few roms (most importantly official CM support) on our forums. I even installed the ubuntu test thingy on mine. But I'll have to admit I do get jealous of some of the other phones who don't just get occasion roms but regular releases of most of them.

I just recently got a Note 3 which i use on Metro PCS. I haven't had any Samsung system updates so I'm still on the stock 4.3.3 rom. I noticed every now and then, I'll get a notification about an app being blocked so i figured I'd check if it's Knox or the annoying security scanner that came with the phone
so i clicked on Knox and got a screen with Knox saying to install 200mb. Since it doesn't seem to be installed...Can I root this phone without tripping the warranty counter?

Knox is on your phone. It's probably additional files needed to run it, but you have knox and as such you have the warranty void counter. You can root de la vega and keep your knox warranty or cf auto root if you don't care. I would stay away from kingo based on what I've read on this forum.
Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
Is there an advantage to rooting with something besides the root de Vega that would trip knox. I would like to root to a lighter ROM that gives me longer battery usage cause this guy can't squeeze out more than 4 and half hour of screen time.
Also any news on a Samsung update to the camera, it sucks at low light conditions

If you plan on flashing rooms you might as well use cf auto root since a custom recovery or room will trip your knox counter anyway. As for your battery life, something seems a bit wrong. I use mine quite heavily and I cam easily get a day from it.

What is cf auto root?
I'm on stock rooted only. Cf auto root is a file designed by chainfire to root the note 3 among other devices. Google it. You need the files for hltetmo.

So Cf installs a rooted stock ROM that doesn't trigger Knox? I'm guessing the lte thing you mentioned only works for rooted devices? And that it will work on Metro, my phone is not unlocked bur obviously works flawlessly on Tmobile.

Here's my current thought process on the warranty matter:
I literally just got my note 3 a few hours ago, but already the bloat is making me scathingly angry. So my choices are....root (vega) and do nothing, say screw it and do whatever I want and lose warranty, or....do nothing.
I'm trying to picture scenarios in my head where I would have to use my warranty (I also have Jump!). I can't think of any short of: my charger port stops working, or I bust the screen. But at that point, I'd probably just run over it with my car, pay the insurance deductible and get a new one. I'm not thrilled at the prospect of paying that deductible, but I'm currently less thrilled about putting up with Bloatwiz.
I haven't taken the plunge yet, but if you can think of other good reasons not to go ahead and trip knox and enjoy the beautiful bloat-free ROMs they have here, please let me know.

I haven't taken the plunge yet, but if you can think of other good reasons not to go ahead and trip knox and enjoy the beautiful bloat-free ROMs they have here, please let me know.

Sounds like you have made up your mind. Soo GO FOR IT!!!
What's life without risk.
So this my question where I cant find a clear answer to. If I flash custom roms it trips the KNOX counter and lose warranty right. Does that mean I cant get a new note 3 from my tmobile insurance? I mean if I can flash roms but I am still able to get a new note 3 through my insurance then its a no brainer for me, which warranty is if you have phone defects and software issues which im sure custom roms can fix all that. But I just want to know if flashing custom roms voids the insurance through my t-mobile? cause I wouldnt mind paying the deductible

sometimes they just put insurance since its a new phone. But most of the time they ask you if you want insurance, its an option. You can pay 10 bucks more a month for the insurance if not you don't have to but wont have insurance. If you just got the phone I sugget you call customer service(611) and ask if he put insurance if not ask them to put the insurance on the acct.

Well I looked at my plan information and it says I have jump bundle which includes protection from damage theft and loss ... And my total bill says 70$... but it's weird Because my total due is 89.50$...I'm not used to paying that much for a no contract plan. .. but phone is worth it. .. Thanks for info

Yeah thats how much it usually is 70 bucks. But if you haven't payed the phone off completely you pay like 20 bucks a month till the phone is payed off or have the option to turn in you're phone for a newer one like the s5 when it comes out, that's like the whole reason for the JUMP. But yeah the phone is worth it, it will be more worth it if I can find out flashing a custom rom won't affect my insurance plan on my acct.

LOL how are you guys okay with losing your samsung warranties. I paid 665 for my phone so I am paranoid. Do y'all have another coverage that you use? If so I need some recommendations.
So if I don't want to trip KNOX there is only one root option?

To answer your question there Edo, some of as such as myself are microelectronics gurus, and tinkerers, so were most likely going to take our phone apart anyway so Warranty=POOF, some of us also own devices that we either bought or bartered for on craigslist, so to be honest, some of them may not be what you would call "legally aquired" and i dont necessarily mean that any one of us stole the device, what i mean is it could be stolen and we may have bought it that way, (i honestly cant say i support that, but i cant turn away a good deal sometimes)**I KNOW ITS WRONG PLEASE DONT HATE ME** and others such as myself, bought a device like my Tmobile note 3 that was blacklisted for non payment because whoever owned it previously didnt pay the bill, but has no clue on how to unlock/root/rom a phone and have it currently unlocked on Straight Talk with AT&T sim, usually if its blacklisted with AT&T, it will still work on their towers, you just cant call AT&T and add it to your account, you can only put your sim in, 9 times out of 10 when its blacklisted from T-Mobile, you cant use it on their network wether its simple mobile, solavei or any tmobile tower using service, because the device will be declined for registration on their network. However for AT&T its nice to know a friend that can unblacklist phones
but ya, most of us dont care about warranty, but there are a great deal of us here that do at the same time
Alright, so one of my buddies that works at T-Mobile, he Claims that as long as your phone is on Stock (Or looks like Stock) you should be able to turn your phone in for a Replacement or towards a different phone with Jump.
Obviously the phone I will be attempting to trade in has its Knox_Warranty flag at 0x1
I am going to try this tomorrow with one of my S4's that I unrooted today and back to 4.3 Stock. Anyone that has been curious on Replacement or upgrading with Jump etc, I should find out tomorrow hopefully. Wish me luck.
I will post results when I get back!
I wouldn't worry. I did a warranty exchange cause the back camera stopped working. All I did was Odin back to stock.

I have a friend who works at a store, I asked him if they are told to look for anything (customization, etc) or even check the bootloader.
He said the only thing they are told to look for is water damage, other than that they don't care. All they do when you Jump is send the phone back and i'm assuming TM just erases everything and resets the device before sending it out as a refurb one.
Just upgraded my phone, no problems, you're good to go

Are you saying, I could return my phone on GE for my jump upgrade and it will be accepted? [emoji33][emoji53]

I'm actually glad to hear this. I may go and flash the latest bootloader so I can have everything up to date.
Just to make sure, if knox IS tripped, it does not effect the status of your warranty through T-Mobile? Meaning if something were to go wrong with my phone I won't have any issues getting a warrant replacement?

I mean I don't know the specifics, i'm sure if you actually asked T-Mobile if it voids the warranty they would say yes, all i'm saying is if you take the phone to use the Jump program they don't even look at the bootloader, most of those guys don't even know how to get into Download Mode let alone check it.
I would say No I don't think you would have a problem, but you never know, the decision is up to you.

To confirm what you said earlier, what T Mobile is doing is taking your used phone and doing a complete factory refurb on it. That means a total wipe of the entire memory and a clean now install, as well as replacing worn out body panels like a cracked glass or scratched up plastic peices, etc.
Doing this the way a factory refurb does it that will wipe out Knox and flash counters and custom ROMs and all that jazz. They have equipment that will do what Odin can't. So they don't care.
If you do get a T Mobile store rep who does check the bootloader and makes a big deal out of the Knox flag, just take your phone to another T Mobile store. Or come back to that one the next day and talk to someone else. 9 out of 10 store clerks are not phone nerds like us. They are people with minimal phone training just working a retail sales job. If you get get the 1 phone nerd, another store will have 4 guys who don't even know what a bootloader is.
Once T Mobile takes the phone from you and processes the exchange, they cannot come back later and claim that it doesn't qualify. If they did you can just say you have no idea what they are talking about and their rep inspected prior to the exchange so something must have happened after it left your possession.

Probably won't. You should be able to still send it in for a replacement and get a different model back.
@LoopDoGG79 - Yup I got a different phone via jump so you should be good to go

Thanks. I asked in here because two T-Mobile Reps told me if the warranty is void on the phone, then they cannot honor the jump program. And seeing as they are accepting knox tripped devices for the jump program, it seems like knox does not void your warranty.. which makes me like Samsung even more (and T-Mobile)
