[Q] Installing TWRP through Flashify - G Pad 8.3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I rooted my G Pad 8.3 and I heard that you could install a custom recovery (TWRP) through the Flashify app. But I really wasn't sure... Can somebody just guide me through... I have flashify installed on my G Pad and I am also rooted.

Download the 2.6.3.0 img from twrp website, then download the 2.6.3.2 zip from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2551499 , Use Flashifyed to install the 2.6.3.0 img, then when its done you will want to reboot directly into twrp, now you will want to flash 2.6.3.2 from inside the twrp recovery and then reboot. Thats how I did it and it worked on the first shot.

Download twrp 2.6.3.1, making sure that you choose the file that matches your software version of your tablet.
The file will be named twrp.txt, navigate to the file using a file browser and change the file name to twrp.img
Now open flashify and choose recovery image.
Then select choose file.
Use flashifys file Explorer and navigate to twrp.img and click on it, just follow the instructions in flashify and you should be good to go.
Once flashed, you can download the twrp 2.6.3.2 zip and flash it from your new recovery
Edit ** I chose 2.6.3.1 because I don't see a link for 2.6.3.0 on my xda app. If you can see a link for 2.6.3.0 then you should use that one first.

Thanks it worked ;P

I used twrp.zip and just flashed it as a zip with flashify (NOT as a recovery, which asks for an img).

do you install as zip or img cause zip tells me its not a zip file

Guys I have a question. Just recently rooted my LS990 running 5.0 everything is stock including stock recovery. Want to use Flashify to install Twrp. Do I need to have a custom recovery already installed? When I'm about to install it gives me the options for either CWM recovery or Twrp. I'm not sure if is asking me if any of these are my current recovery.

You don't need it prior, but select the one you wish to install. You do need root of course...

Thanks

Nope. Didn't work. I guess I'm going to have to get off my lazy behind and use adb.

Please help me get back to TWRP

I was using the wonderful TWRP to flash and backup.
But since today I went into ROM Manager and updated to the new release of ClockWorkMod it is now using cwm as my default when I reboot into recovery. So how do I go back to using TWRP?
Easy method:
Goo Manager app from play store.
Options>Install TWRP
Still Easy Method:
Find the TWRP.img
fastboot flash recovery TWRP.img

Instead of Goo Manager I use an app called Flash Image GUI.
Just flashed in the twrp .img file like you said and voila. Im back in twrp
Cheers! :-D

Get rid of twrp.

Open for suggestions here. I'm trying to flash cwr over twrp, but every time I boot into recovery I've still got twrp. Tried it using rom manager first, downloads and installs fine, says I'm using cwr 6.0.4.4, I boot into recovery using either the 3 button method or reboot recovery command, and I'm still on twrp.
Also downloaded the .img file from the cwr website and flashed in Odin, got a pass but I still boot into twrp. Any ideas?

That's weird. Its acting like you have a locked bootloader, which you don't.
Did you try using ROM manager app to install clockwork mod?
There are also flashable zips of clockwork that can flash in tarp recovery like like a ROM would be flashed. Tarp should stay after flashing but when you reboot to recovery cwm should be there.
If neither of those two things work, come back here with a very detailed step by step list of things you are doing to switch. We will see if younare missing a step

Go flash this from ODIN. Note, you can't flash a stock .img from ODIN, you'd do that with fastboot or a dd command.

Thanks guys, I downloaded a flashable of philz and flashed it though twrp and that finally worked. I had tried rom manager but that didn't work, and I had used this to package my .img file to an odin .tar

Still doesn't explain why CWM wouldn't flash over. You can use Mobile Odin to flash the CWM recovery img which should clear TWRP. This is just in case someone else has this issue. Don't be a denvercoder9

If you can still get into twrp then you haven't wiped everything and its no problem to get it going again. There is an option called mount in twrp, with the device connected to a pc via usb click mount, this allows you to access the internal device storage from the pc and easily transfer a Rom over to it which you can then go back to twrp main menu and install. Always remember to do some research if you don't fully understand what it is you're doing before you do it. Next time you might end up with a brick.

ok sorry for not saying i can boot into twrp ok yes i can still boot into twrp v2.2.2 i can mount i tried loading a custom rom i loaded hellfire and hellkat but i just get sent into a boot loop i tried flashing twrp 2.6 but it stays the same v2.2.2 i have been looking for stock rom to flash but cannot find one any help to get this twrp updated or a new rom to take on this version thanks in advance for any help
Might be stuck on fastboot after you flash, I don't have the kindle fire anymore so I'm a little unsure on the details, but it seems like you could get the stock firmware from Amazon as a full download update...at least I remember doing it a while back. What does the bootloop look like after you flash?

Download a jellybean rom with gapps. Flash both. Boot up and get Flashify from the store. Flash twrp 2.6.3.2 using Flashify. Reboot to twrp to verify it updated. Now you can flash a kitkat rom, with the appropriate gapps.

My OnePlus 3 wont update

Hi,
I just got OnePlus 3, it is brand new but the guy who owned it has TWRP installed, I received notification that OnePlus3Oxygen_16_1706101914 System update was available, downloaded it and it wont install.
Once it starts installing it goes back to TWRP reboot page after the restart saying Android is updating. Then once I restart it is says the Update is available again. I tried to download the zip file through xda and selected it through TWRP not it says :
E:unknow command [log]
Updater process ended with ERROR 7
Error installing zip file' /sdcard/TWRP/
OnePlus3Oxygen_16_OTA_054_all_1706101914_1ab24f4be6e74def.zip.
I wiped cache/dalvik, re-downloaded the zip file and it still did not work.
Havent done this for awhile and have no idea what to do.
Thank you very much in advance.
I would recommend flashing TWRP again and then trying to install the update.
Personally I use Blu_spark TWRP as it has always worked on my end. When on the install section of TWRP there should be a button to install images. Install the img file to the recovery section, reboot back to the recovery and then try install the file.
Another way of flashing TWRP is via PC using ADB.

Also, make sure you are downloading the FULL zip, not the OTA zip. full zip should be 1.3-1.4GB. Download the full zip here if you haven't got it.) http://downloads.oneplus.net/oneplus-3/oneplus_3_oxygenos_4.1.6/
You cannot flash ota from twrp. But if your bandwidth is limited, what you can do, is to flash stock recovery, then update with ota, then flash back twrp
Thank you very much for your responses. Sorry for the delay had no internet access.
Downloaded both files, TWRP and Oxygen zip, still the same error 7. Installed the drivers successfully. Have no idea what else to do.
When I am in TWRP, I go down to the folder and select the zip that I downloaded from oneplus site but it doesnt say install it says flash.
