I need some imput from all you big phone users. I am wanting to purchase a portable charger and was wondering what all of you think?

I personally do not need a portable charger. I charge my phone for a couple of hours once in a while. But even after a full days use, I always have at least 30% battery life left.

I do that as well. My Note one would suck up a battery much quicker than this one. I was just thinking if I were to go to a baseball game or somewhere I couldn't get a quick charge.

You might want to check the accessories section.
there are many options. It just depends on your needs. In your example, it depends on how large of external batter you would like to use. You could get something like Anker Anker Astro 3 10,000mAh. It's better than the GN2, but has over triple the battery capacity of it as well. Heck, you can charge multiple devices with it. I have one, but use it mainly for the Asus Infinity Tablet.
Another option could be something like Duracell Powerhouse or Druacell Instant charger. Of these, I used a older version of the later. It's not very big and can easily fit in your pocket. It's about the same jumbo pack of chewing gum sticks. You do need to use a USB cord, which is bad if you don't have one with you; it comes with one, but they break. On the same token, it's more universal since it doesn't matter what your phone takes since there will be a USB cord for it.
Beyond that, just use an old phone charger. Just throw it in your bag and you'll have something to charge the phone if you access to an AC outlet. I've used .5mAh chargers I got with old Jawbone earpieces and Evo 4G. They don't charge as fast, but it still charges. I do this. I have keep a charger and USB cord in my backpack for school, another in a pocket of my work uniform, another in a laptop bag, and other in my truck of my car.

^^ +1 on the anker astro 3 10000 mah portable charger. Got one from newegg for around $42 and it comes with a nice carrying case and attachments. I didn't want to buy one of those funky back door battery covers that make your phone look pregnant lol
This external charger is amazing and should make your phone last a good 72-90hrs away from a wall charge.

I have the same charger by Anker. I've owned several others as well. One of things that really impresses me about this one is that I can toss into a bag and pull out weeks later and is still showing fully charged. Zagg's would be dead after a few weeks even if I didn't use it at all. Outstanding portable charger.
A spare battery and external charger will be the smallest and most efficient way to go. You can find a deal with 2 hyperion batteries and wall charger on amazon for $20.

Hey guys any thoughts on any 10000mah qi pad ?
I'm looking for some that does not need any special positioning to charge, (if possible) with magnets to hold my n5 while i'm driving .. Do you guys know any ??
Thank you !!!
Just got one of these:
ht tp://dx.com /p/ mocreo-qi-enabled-wireless-charger-charging-pad-w-10000mah-power-bank-battery-packs-for-qi-devices-250618
(Can't post links yet. Remove spaces above.)
It works for both my Nexus 5 and 7. Charges rather slowly in my opinion, but then this is my first experience with Qi charging, so I can't really make a useful comparison with other Qi chargers.
It's big (around 153mm x 73mm x 14mm) and does not have magnets to hold the phone. So I doubt you'll be able to use it as a car dock or something...
Cubic,
Any thoughts on whether the claimed capacity is legitimate? Or an exaggerated 6000 mAh?

No idea. I wouldn't trust the specs too much though.
Probably would not do a detailed test. Even if it does have that 10000mAh capacity stated, there are still many aspects (charging efficiency, quality of the battery, etc) apart from the capacity that I think would affect how many charges you'll get from it anyway.
I didn't buy this expecting a top quality product (it is a Chinese OEM product after all), and so as long as it does Qi charging as stated and can give me two to three full charges on my Nexus 5, I'll be happy.
That said, the build quality on this is pretty decent. Apart from a flimsy power button, the materials and build quality actually reminds me of a Samsung Galaxy S3.

Charging efficiency on all these wireless chargers is 70% to 80% efficiency. The Morceo is actually made by another company, who also supplies it to Choe. They are IDENTICAL. I also wouldn't say the power button is flimsy. It rattles a little bit because of the method of construction, but the button itself is pretty solid. They device has a piano key finish & the black is a huge fingerprint magnet. The black also has, what I would call tacky, a polished gold bezel, it is not flat like many pictures make it appear.
I have had this & the Lugu Lake 6,000mah device. They are likely made by the same company from what I can tell by looking at them. The 10,000mah definitely lasts longer for me & the multi-amperage USB outs are a nice addition. It will essentially charge you N5 twice, or an N7 once & 30% to 60% of the N5 once. It will give you close to 10,000mah via usb, but again, the efficiency loss via any wireless will knock you down to between 6,000mah & 8,000mah. The Lugu Lake 6,000mah will essentially charge my N5 ONCE before it is at the lowest charge level, so this appears consistent with all wireless chargers.
For curiosity sakes, when would something like this be used? You can use it in your pocket and if I am stationary at someones place or car I can just plug my phone in. I can't really think of any situation where this would come in handy.
I use a battery pack on long trips when I don't know for sure I will have an outlet available. Traveling to NYC, for example. The qi feature would just be gravy.

I wanted to get something like this, and place it in my pocket for charging, you think that would be a bad idea? overheating? and these batteries from China?
Has anyone bought this yet? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FRDNLD8/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
If so how does it work? How long does it take it to charge the phone wirelessly vs usb cable?
The one I got barely charges the phone, it charges really really slow, any of you guys know of a good brand?
also looking for a good efficient wireless charger what do you guys think?
Thanks in advance.
I use the tmobile universal charger w/ extra USB port. Charges great even while using it. http://m.ebay.com/itm/151153813473

Been using this one for a couple years, dual 1 amp ports and it's very low profile. Sticks out of the power socket just a few millimeters. Charges as fast as most standard USB chargers.
http://www.amazon.com/Griffin-Techn...r=8-8&keywords=griffin+2+port+usb+car+charger
Edit: Some of the reviews are claiming that's a counterfeit one, and it could be considering it's a fraction of the price. But the actual Griffin one is the one I have and it's been working great for me for at least 2 years.
Thank you guys, I'm thinking of going with the griffin charger.
I'm looking to by a something as the title suggests. I am looking into 3 on Amazon that look good for the price.
First: MOCREO(TM) 10000mAh High Capacity Portable Power Bank http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FRDNLD8/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_4?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1J7O7Q2KLU8CQ
Second: Anker 6000mAh High-Capacity Qi-Enabled
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EST8MRM/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_5?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A294P4X9EWVXLJ
Third: LuguLake 6000mAh Qi - Enabled Inductive Wireless Charger Charging Pad
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CY4SG10/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_9?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=AOHIKKIFQW3GG
If any of you guys used any of these, what is your experience with it? Also if you could provide info on whether or not the Nexus 5 will stick on there until a certain angle or will it slip right off even if you move the charger around. Asking this because i'll be using it in the car also.
Thanks
I have the Lugulake one. It's good, works well, charges the phone in a very similar time to the wall charger and has a decent grip on the phone, not sure how good it'd be in car tho. But.... I also want one of these which I'll be ordering soon for the car -

I also have the Lugulake and I'm quite happy with it.
I think both of those devices are available on Amazon and for under $50. I'm thinking of getting the first one. Vent mount and I can use my SGS3 with it.

I have one I got on ebay that is 10,000mah and looks identical to the first link. (http://www.ebay.com/itm/141047804367) It cost $37 (looks like the price dropped a little since) and so far I'm very happy with it, though I've only used it a bit when traveling. It does take a while to charge since 10,000mah on a 1A charger is 10hrs. I haven't really carefully tested its functionality though. I wonder if its current discharge limit is lower than it says, though, since I noticed when I had my n5 plugged into it the 2.1A port and under heavy use (games) the phone battery didnt charge, it only discharged slower... I'll have to test more.
Hi there, simple question... Why all 2m cables I got from eBay failure to efficiently charge my phone? Used with 3 different original HTC chargers but I always get a message stating that not enough power goes to the phone when being used whilst charging. What cable should I buy? I need 2 meters or similar long... Or maybe it is the length of cable that doesn't let enough juice going to the device...? please advice, thanks in advance

It's because of the length. The longer your cable is, the higher is the resistance (R=p*l/A). I had a similar problem with two cables. One was thin as hell and the other one was thicker. The thicker one charged perfect so if you buy a long cable make sure that it is thick enough to reduce the resistance.

Thanks for an advice mate. Any chance for link to website that you bought yours from?

In my oppinion, length is not the main problem.
Don't buy cables from ebay. Diameter of wires inside the cable affects charging process much more.
Those cheapo ebay cables work enough, so you won't RMA them, but actually those are often only data cables, not intended for charging at all.
Next time, if you break some cables, check original one and that, which you bought - cut them and notice difference in their thickness (wires, not the whole cable).
Once I have bought "ORIGINAL OEM htc charger" from ebay. It was counterfeit, it was charging very slow, so i measured cahrger and it was nothing, but garbage 5V / 1A charger was only able to supply about 0,7 AMPS, but voltage decreased to about 3 V. Ok, so I tossed it away, and I said "ok then, at least I have a cable". wrong. it was same garbage.
From that day, I only buy official accessories. The phone was expensive enough, not to buy cheap accessories.
So my advice: try to avoid those cheap cables. Try to buy cable of any length you need, but some more expensive one.
A phone charges more slowly if it thinks the USB cable is offering a data connection.
Google for "usb short data pins", or just go straight to https://plus.google.com/+AmiFischman/posts/2JzDyodpJsq

I picked up three Samsung USB cables that were being offered for $2 and they work extremely well. Decent length and fast charging.

detail information. The inner cable should be 20 AWG or bigger.
Monoprice sells these cables. You can choose what AWG. Theyre inexpensive and quality control on them are pretty amazing.
