Mahdi ROM is a project started by @Mahdi786 and with his "blessing" I compiled an "Official" Unofficial build for us Jfltetmo users. All credit goes to Mahdi786 for his work in starting Mahdi ROM and for Mahdi ROM. So give him a big thank you if you come across him.

Have never used aocp so no idea
Just wanted to chime in and say that this ROM is awesome! I ran the INT'L version until i realized I didn't have any voice searching or dictation abilities (could have just been the build vs running the INT'L version on my TMO device, didn't go through the process to figure it out). Have this installed and seems to be running well. Only small issue I've come across is SUPERUSER lagging behind in the boot process. Some of my root enabled apps throw up a notification that root permissions weren't available or simply don't do what they need to do. Manually setting them works after Superuser is up and running (4 or 5 min mark after boot). Now if I could only talk Mahdi into incorporating a TRDS like UI. But even without, a very stable and battery friendly (despite my overclocking KT's latest) way to enjoy a highly customizable KITKAT ROM. Thanx ShinySide for bringing this to TMO users!!!!
Will give this a go! Thanks OP!
Was running the jfltexx version of Mahdi (by adding jfltetmo to the install script) on my second S4 and everything ran fine out of the box as far as I could tell. What would be the difference in this jfltetmo build, if I may ask? Kernel?
No gripes, just an observation: feature wise compared to your unofficial Carbon, Mahdi ROM seems to be mostly the same on customization features. It has the cool notification bar background (day vs night context) but I prefer out of the box transparent status bar on Carbon which Mahdi doesn't have yet. Both are snappy.
My only wish for either ROM would be SlimKat's custom action tile. That would complete it for me. (SlimPIE would be nice too but LMT fills the gap for now)
Anyway, thanks for all your efforts, Shiny.

All s4s use a common kernel. The same kernel is used for all, but each s4 has its own device tree which have little differences here and there. I'd have to look thru each to tell you the differences between them all.

Thanks - that's what I thought about jfltexx and jfltetmo, because for a few weeks now I've been using Vampire's, I mean, Alucard's kernel from his jfltexx thread which I see it is now in your latest Carbon unofficial also.

Install 7zip and notepad++ (both free) right click the zip select 7zip>open as archive then go to META-INF/com/google/android and drag the updater script to your desktop. Open it with notepad++
and delete or change this line
assert(getprop("ro.product.device") == "jfltexx" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "jfltexx" || abort
to:
assert(getprop("ro.product.device") == "jfltetmo" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "jfltetmo" || abort
or like I said just delete the entire assert line. Then drag the updater-script back to the zip window and exit out of 7zip and flash away
Awesome. Thank you!

Description
Vanilla RootBox is built straight from RootBox sources and always carries a very light installation with no extra/useless apps. This means, you can enjoy a pure Android experience combined with AOKP/CM features and some CM cherry-picks. Keep in mind Jelly Bean is only at the beginning stage of development and there will be minor bugs. Every RootBox releases are stable and always up to the challenge for a daily usage. If you're wondering how this ROM differs from any other AOKP roms out there, I only have one thing to say: Try it yourself and choose the one that meets your requirements.

Hey bajee. Is PUB baked into your version? Seems PUB doesn't allow Google Voice to play the voicemails straight from the Phone app. Instead, it FCs each time I hit play. So, I'm stuck at using Nightlies 3/22.

Just place your bootanimation in data/loca/ and it will override any system/media bootanimation even after a dirty flash.
Unstoppable ROM at the moment,no issues so far.

Sorry. This was built specifically for the E980 . If your model supports cm for the e980 on the e988 then I don't see why it wouldn't work as this is based off of that but again I'm going to say that's your call.

Gesture typing has worked on multiple roms with the gapps package I'm using, but it doesn't on this one. Other than that, this is running great.

Ooh.. you back, thanks so much
You are my fav from NS4G
I have now had 2 random freeze ups that required battery pulls. Was using askp grande kernel. Have switched to fancy to see if that helps.

Gesture typing isn't even an option when I checked it, but having proper data hand-off is what's keeping me on this rom. All the features that I want are here and I don't have to run CM. Happy days.
Also, there doesn't seem to be a toggle to show data activity in the status bar. Not sure if that was a feature added in, but as long as mobile data works I'm happy.
Edit: And of course I spoke too soon. Data switched from Wifi, to 4g, to 3g the first time, then never worked again after that. My problem so far with every KK rom is I can switch from Wifi to 4g, but never to 3g. Have to reboot with the radio forced on 3g for 3g data to work.
Welcome back!
It's been a long time and you've been missed. Thanks for giving my Gnex life again. I'll be flashing this as soon as I get home from work!

Almost positive it is an added feature. Only way to see data activity in KitKat is to pull down quick settings. Unless the option is added into a ROM.
Since switching to fancy kernel, I have had one random freeze when trying to open the Google dialer. Dunno if its the dialers fault since I had to flash it or if its the ROM. When I was running askp kernel, the freezes came when doing random stuff.
The last freeze was a few hours ago. Hopefully its ironed itself out as everything else is great!
Spoke too soon. Another issue with lockscreen not unlocking unless I click on one of my dashclock widgets. Also, and the deal breaker for me, getting some serious random glitches with apps. Take a peak
Guess it didn't save my screenshot of tapatalk doing something similar. Hope it gets all ironed out cause I'd love to come back to this ROM.

I've not had any issues and I've surfed the web, watched flash videos on dolphin browser, and played a couple games at lunch break.
Running mpokang sr with slimbean 4.4.2 minimal gapps.
Also, I had to umount /system to get it to flash due to symlink failure, but flashed fine after unmounting.

When I saw that CNA was back I jumped out of my chair and shouted for joy! I am installing this as I type!
Alright so I saw Superuser in "Other Tools", can anyone confirm that this means SU is built into the rom like CM and PA?

You won't regret it. No issues with it here. So happy to have pie back! I didn't miss it as much with the new immersive mode, but I love being able to just swipe my thumb from the right and having all my buttons right there!

Hmmm, where exactly are you getting PIE from? I have HALO enabled but I see no section for PIE.
Also, any idea if Codnamedroid plans on adding theme-chooser to this rom? Honestly I'm digging it so far, really the only thing I would like to see is Theme-chooser added and a volume settings option in quicksettings.

take your time, do not rush, and this quiet.
this rom is very good base, and you have the knowledge to solve problems, and an excellent team. also has ingredients for a rom excellent.
great work sir: Asce1062
hi !
this rom is really an excellent thing ! :good:
on the thread about Optima Team ,i give an idea of rom named "C-Rom" ( because AOSP pure base ! not a CM11 base hybrid ...) more interresting than Carbon-rom..... and when we see the features and parameters of Mahdi-Rom ,it's near the same sort of rom than C-Rom and Carbon (i but i believe that this one is based of CM11) => great !!! thank ! :good:
I love AOSP pure based rom because there are not CM11 known buggs (and with all his big work of nightlies in "beta" tests with much daily correctives ) ==> generaly more stable ,more light (fast and smooth) , quick and easy to fix eventuals buggs .
thank you very much again and again to Asce1062 , and Optima Team ! ( thank to cr3pt ....and other too ... )
For me at this time , i stay on stock rom (optimised) because i need FM-Radio i have some habits with it ...

Cool. Thank you sir.
I used this ROM almost exclusively on my Nexus 4. I'm very glad to see this here..!!
What is the base for this ROM? Just wondering if it is AOSP, why it's not 4.4.4 like all the others? Not trying to be negative, just to understand better is all.

Where are all the people complaining about slow development before? Its hard to try all the Roms when you put out so many! Keep up the hard work and a small suggestion..... AOSPA

Because I wish it was Friday already.... AOSPA built but refuses to flash correctly. It will not extract the system partition for some reason. But good news is that AOSPA did add the G3 into their manifest so they will be supporting it soon. I will keep looking into why this won't flash.
This Rom is running great... Sound is a little low... Tried to increase the volume with ViPER4Android... Doesn't seem like it has any effect...
