so here is what happened. i have a t-mobile galaxy s4 ( m919) that was running 4.3. However, i installed wanamlite rom in it, and that messed my phone up( one reason was i couldnt use data internet). now my model number is I9505 instead of M919. i installled cyanogenmod 11 rom. then thought that it could be easier now to go back to my stock model( m919). and everytime i try to flash the M919UVUAMDL_M919TMBAMDL_M919UVUAMDL_HOME.tar.md5 , i get a big FAIL from odin3. so since my model number is I9505 after flashing wanamlite, i thought why not installing i9505 stock rom. so i did and still got a big FAIL on odin3. however, i was able to flash 4.4.2 stock rom for I9505, but its glitchy .So clearly i wanna go back to my stock model M919 and install stock rom (4.3) if its possible ??. im sorry guys, im a noob and i need your help. Thanks in advance .
notice: i used odin3 v3.07 to install 4.3 stock rom, and still fails.
I'd Odin to stock and start over. Update your Odin and get your stock image from sammobile.

If you have a 4.3 MK2 bootloader you can NOT Odin back to MDL which is 4.2 MDL base.
Find the 4.3 stock firmware tar file and Odin flash that.

If it was my phone the first thing I would do is to plug the usb cable into a different usb port
and then reboot the computer before using Odin.
Then I would re-download the "M919TMBAMDL_M919UVUAMDL_HOME.tar.md5" just
in case it got corrupted and try Odin flashing the phone again.
I would be sure to only plug the usb cable into the phone AFTER
seeing the [COM:xx] in Odin light up.
Good luck!

not sure what MK2 bootloader is and how to find out if i i have it. as i said, my model number is I9505 and running 4.4.2, not my stock m919 4.3. also i did download the stock rom m919 4.3 without any corruption. it still gives me a Big fail. any suggestions from this point are greatly appreciated. Thanks
Mk2 is the new modem and bootloader that came with 4.3.
You can check in about phone. Here's where it says under baseband.

This new upgrade is pre-rooted.
No need to root it at all.
Here is the direct download link for the new Samsung Galaxy S3 T999 Official 4.1.2 stock rooted Jellybean rom:

Just flash it using cwm or twrp like any other zipfile rom.

Here is a step by step guide:
Easy and sure way to root your phone - Here is s step by step guide:
After you have followed these instructions your phone will be in the same condition
as it was the day you have purchased it except with the benefit of being rooted.
Download the stock-rooted Samsung Galaxy S3 Jellybean v4.1.1 T999 firmware: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390169635556426451
After downloading make a folder on your computer's desktop and unzip the
file using Winzip or 7zip so the .TAR file is in the new folder you just made.
Download and extract Odin into the same folder you made containing the TAR file
Here is the link for Odin: http://d-h.st/Q14
Download ODIN which is required for flashing the stock rooted firmware (a windows app)
Download the Odin Flash firmware for T999 Tmobile then copy it to the same folder as Odin
Run Odin by double clicking the Odin.exe within the same folder as the TAR file you extracted
Turn off your phone and boot into DOWNLOAD MODE (Volume Down + Home + Power Hold until phone powers up, then release and press Volume Up to enter Download Mode)
Once in Download Mode, connect the USB/Charger cable to the phone and plug into the USB port on your computer.
You should now see a COM** port listed toward the top-left of Odin (under ID:COM)
Click on the PDA button in the middle-right area of Odin.
Browse to and select the Firmware you downloaded (TAR file)
Make sure Auto-Reboot and F. Reset Time are the only options checked and that PDA is the only other thing checked.
TRIPLE CHECK your settings and that you have selected the correct firmware for your model phone and are using the correct options.
If you are using a laptop, make absolutely sure you are plugged in, or if on battery, that it is charged enough and will not go into sleep mode during flash.
Click Start to begin the flash. This will take a while, so be patient!
Once complete, in the top-left box in Odin, it will say PASS and the phone should have automatically rebooted.
You may unplug the phone and close Odin if you wish.
Wait at least 5-10 minutes for the system to boot the first time and then build its cache!
(It may seem to take a long time on first boot, this is normal so you must be very patient!!!)
Good Luck!

The reason is that Jody (the developer) removed the new RADIO/MODEM image
from the rom so everyone including those people who have AT&T Unlocked phones
can use the rom.
If you want the original baseband/modem/radio cwm/twrp flashable zipfile here
is the UVDMD5 Radio/Baseband Download Link - http://db.tt/RgrCGufl
Only flash this if you have a Samsung Galaxy S3 T999 device and you have Tmobile service.
You can root same way as all prevouse stock ROMs. Install custom recovery with Odin and then flash superuser in recovery.

That's one of the main reasons I always suggest NOT to odin flash the stock T999 4.1.2 tar rom
but instead flash the cwm/twrp T999 pre-rooted deoxidized 4.1.2 rom which Jody setup for us.
People should have been warned about what you said before they allowed the OTA update to
upgrade their phones unless they don't want root access and want their phone to be pure stock.

Its all been covered pretty thoroughly, and all folks need to do is read! I know its asking an awful lot for some.
I haven't looked at jovys but there are two files that cause the recovery rewrite, and if he didnt remove them his rom will do the same.
If I remember right they are:
Install-recovery.sh
Recovery-on-boot.p
The second is wrong im pretty sure, but its something similar. Check my firmware thread and it should be there.
Hope that helps.

I was just looking in your "Firmware/OTAs T999(V) Official, Leaked & Root66 FW & OTA Updates" thread
and downloaded the "root66_TMO_T999UVDMD5.7z" which is the pre-rooted Odin flash 4.1.2 firmware.
The reason I downloaded it is that I just want to have a odin flash rooted backup of 4.1.2 in case I need it in the future.
I wanted to ask if this firmware includes the modem/radio in the TAR file?
If it does, what is the filename of the modem/radio file? (I need to remove it).
My phone is an Unlocked AT&T I747 Galaxy S3 which I am using with Tmobile service and
I do not want to flash the modem/radio since it will not work with my phone.
Thanks.

Modem is NON-HLOS.bin. Can't remove it, because the md5 check will fail.
Maybe ask mrrobinson if he can give you any pointers on how to remove it correctly. The steps he uses to create root66 would likely work to remove the modem as well.
Do you have the same partition layout as us? If not, dont use any of the firmware. If so you can always flash it and then flash your correct radio after.

What if I remove the .MD5 from the filename ?
I don't think that Odin requires the .MD5 extension, I know I have Odin flashed
roms a while back which did not have an MD5.

I am sure I have the same partition layout, I am using the cwm/twrp flashable zipfile of the pre-rooted UVDMD5 T999 4.1.2 rom.
Before I got the Unlocked AT&T Galaxy S3 I had the galaxy S2 which I used with AT&T network and flashed the
root66 Odin flash roms before and had no problems, but since I am with Tmobile now I need to remove the radio file.
Since I am with Tmobile now, I never odin flashed roms due to the fact that they all contain the radio file.
Mobile Odin will flash without the md5 extension. Cant remember for sure with pc odin. I may try it later tonight to see for sure. You can also deselect the modem when flashing via M.O. in case you didnt know, though
I am also pretty sure you have the same layout as the t999. I appreciate you taking the time to do it in a way that is safe and wont brick!
I do think you would be ok to flash the full fw though, just make sure you have a copy of the correct modem and flash it right after.
Ill let you know for sure about the md5 after I get home and try it out.

Take in count that by flashing the MK2 stock tar you will end up with the knox bootloader. If you trip the knox flag you will not be entitled to warranty work. If that does not matter to you, then go ahead and flash ;b
Your best bet to prevent this is to get a stock rom cwm flashable that does not include the bootloader.
thanks everyone.
just so i'm clear (i already soft bricked my phone), you all suggest getting the cwm stock rom and update my modem first?

Hi guys,
I have two T-mobile galaxy s4 M919, one is on MDL firmware and the other is on MK2 firmware.
Here is a few question I really need your wisdom and suggestion.
1. For the MDL firmware, I have simunlocked and rooted it. Also installed TWRP.
Now I am loooking to install the Omega kitkat rom v30. In its installation instruction it requires as following:
Flash the new bootloder and modems with odin
Bootloader -> BL_I9505XXUFNAD_481100_REV06_user_low_ship_MULTI_C ERT.tar.md5
If you already have the new Kit Kat bootloader there is no need to flash it again.
Modems XXUFNC9 -> I9505XXUFNC9_GSM_LTE_Modems.tar
My questions are :
1). Do I need to update my t-mobile bootloader? ( I know should use t-mobile ones). I know if updated could not go back.
2). I thinks I need to install a kitkat modem, which one should I use? Or I should just flash the KT-SGS4 - MJ5 kernel ?
3). If I just want to flash the Insane rom, do I also need to flash bootloader and flash NB4 modem?
Now is questions for the other phone.
2. For the phone with MK2 firnware s4 ( this is another Phone!), I have been following this guide to sim unlock it :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2654058
I am downloding files now. just want to make sure
1) do I need to odin back to 4.3 after my phone is unlocke with old MDL system.
2) if I want to install 4.4 roms, what should I do ?
Thank you for any of your suggestion or ideas.

OK. For the MDL phone you should only update your modem unless you want Knox. I see that the files you have chosen are for th I9505. You should never flash international Bootloader or modem or you will brick the phone. So just flash the nb4 modem and flash a KitKat ROM so you can keep your warranty.
Now for the 4.3 phone. All you have to do is root it and flash the nb4 modem or you can flash the full firmware. Either way will work for you since you already have Knox it doesn't really matter.

Correct. You can try the mk2 modem first if you like and then try nb4. You can switch them as you like depending on their performance. Its totally up to you. I would just hate to see you waste your warranty. Not everybody is as lucky as you and I my friend. We both have the stock MDL Bootloader. That's something to brag about now days!!

I would just hate to see you waste your warranty. Not everybody is as lucky as you and I my friend. We both have the stock MDL Bootloader. That's something to brag about now days!!
BTW I am on Insane KitKat and I gotta be honest with you, it is by far the best ROM I have used since MIUI back in my vibrant days! Keep calm, read and flash on my friend!! Wow! From now on that should be my signature jk

Hello Genius Fellas,
I rooted my friends T999L via ODIN perfectly fine & then flash CWR via ODIN without any problems. Downloaded the MIUI ROM from the forum, took a backup before clean flashing it. It didn't work & gave an error. So wiped everything and rebooted the phone and it went back to the stock firmware.
Then I downloaded the Quantum ROM from the original dev section and It wouldn't install either. So I gave up on installing roms and then downloaded the stock firmware for T999L : T999UVUENC2_T999TMBENC2_T999UVUENC2_HOME.tar.md5.
I then tired to flash it via ODIN but It's giving following errors. Ive attached the screen shots.
I don't know what am I missing, I really need your help. Thanks.

It appears as though you are trying to flash firmware for the T999 rather than the T999L. Download this UVUBNC1 posted in DocHoliday77's [Firmware/OTA's] [root66] SGH-T999(All Variants!) Official & Root66 FW & OTA Updates and try flashing it with Odin.

What issues did you have with the MIUI or quantum Rom ?
Now that you are on 4,3 do please note, any attempt to flash older firmware will HARD BRICK your phone.

Thanks.
Both ROMs would just abort. I tried couple of times all clean install but not luck.

Have you tried this?:

I'm assuming you have upgraded to some other model kitkat rom and want to revert back to sprint rom. I had the same problem yesterday it turns out knox on those kitkat roms forbids you from going back to lower version rom. What I did was to odin ne2 rom and it went smoothly.
