[Q] Help Installing Stock Rooted ROM 4.4.2 - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

i'm trying to get my Gear to function properly (or atleast get notifications to work).
A little confused where to start... I'm hoping a stock ROM with root will work.
Can someone point me to a HOW TO to install a stock rooted rom for my m919?
Right now I have the Infamous GE 4.4.2 ROM on my s4.

Go to http://SamMobile.com and download the 4.3 Tmobile M919 USA stock official rom.
Odin flash the stock rom and be sure to do a full wipe before flashing.
Always make a nandroid backup in recovery before flashing anything.
Good luck!

Or you could download a CWM-flashable stock/rooted ROM from the Android Development section and flash that. Which ones are stock/rooted? Read the OP. The information will be there. Be sure to update your modem as well.

Take in count that by flashing the MK2 stock tar you will end up with the knox bootloader. If you trip the knox flag you will not be entitled to warranty work. If that does not matter to you, then go ahead and flash ;b
Your best bet to prevent this is to get a stock rom cwm flashable that does not include the bootloader.

thanks everyone.
just so i'm clear (i already soft bricked my phone), you all suggest getting the cwm stock rom and update my modem first?

Flashing fails almost everytime

Rooted at&t galaxy iii with TWRP 2.5. I'm unable to flash most ROMs, only a handful work (Xone and Ilusion). The flash usually fails right away with the error "Assert failed: getprop(ro.bootloader)". I've tried the usual steps for this problem including updating the ZIP with taking out the "getprop" lines but it still fails. I've also tried and got the same error with TWRP 5.0. Would it be worth flashing Clockword Recovery? Would that make a difference? Would it be worth formatting my SD card? I have a feeling it could use it. Any other ideas are appreciated, thank you.

Thank you. Ok I already have a few weeks ago updated my baseband version to I747UCDLK3 by flashing it with my recovery. That is what you mean by bootloader right, or no? I thought it might be worth flashing the LK3 file with ODIN but I'm not able to get ODIN to recognize my phone at the moment. If, in About Phone, it says LK3 firmware, are the bootloaders ok? Or should I still try flashing it with ODIN regardless?
No, baseband is your modem. There's a bootloader/modem tar around here somewhere, or you could just flash the latest rooted stock file for your device. If you flash the rooted stock Rom, after that just install goo manager (twrp)or Rom manager (cwm) for your preferred recovery
I'm confused because all the guides' links to the bootloaders leads to the DLK3 modem but I'll search around some more.
So flashing the stock rooted ROM will update the bootloader? How does that work? Thanks for your help.

The rooted stock Rom includes bootloaders, modem, and the Rom itself. Downside is the size. Over 800Mb to dl.

[T999v 4.3] OTA Update now Available

Hello,
Just thought I would post this for you T999v users out there.
It's the 4.3 update now available on kies.
Proceed with caution like us with the T999. You'll have to deal with Knox and root issues in sure.
Not sure what the differences are between the T999 and the T999v update if any besides the corresponding files needed for that phone.
Anyways, here's the Samsung link

Nice. Come on Samsung, let's keep this rolling. My T999L still hasn't been updated to 4.3.
FYI, you can use Mobile Odin to flash only the modem and then use one of the T-mobile roms. This way you can bypass Knox.
Just load the file in mobile odin. Then tap all the partitions except for the modem and select clear to ensure they don't get flashed

T999V 4.3 Rom!
For any who are interested, here is a deodexed, Knox Free 4.3 Rom built from Wind's MK5 firmware! I am fairly certain that all the Canadian carriers roms will be very closely related, and anyone can flash this if they so choose. It should work on the T999 and T999L as well, provided you have the correct modem for your model. Anyway, I hope some of you find it useful!
Warning: I currently do not have a phone and so I cannot test this. I am confident it will work as expected, but I make no guarantees. Flash at your own risk!
If you do try this Rom out, please let me know if WiFi is working or not. If not, flashing the AT&T kernel should fix this. Also, let me know if you have updated to 4.3 by flashing the OTA or official firmware.
Enjoy!

Could you elaborate? Do you mean it was bootlooping? If so at what point would it shut down and loop? What modems and kernels did you try?
same here Doc i flashed the file then flashed the mk4 modem in twrp. everything showed successful but it keeps boot looping.

Help Updating (Sorry for noob question)

hey guys have been out of the modding life for a long time now since HTC Amaze came out on market and ive had nexus' (galaxy nexus) since then. i had a quick question. my sister passed down to me a S3 T-Mobile one. its on 4.1.1 and i had at the time put in CWM long time ago as i was gonna flash custom roms but never got around to it (i did this with the help of a youtube video.) now i have this device the Volume UP button doesnt work which is essential to go into download mode... how would i go about updating this to the latest 4.3 Firmware? if there are any detailed steps id really appreciate them. Sorry i know it sucks to get noob posts like these but i have done a bit of research and i cant seem to ask the right questions on google! thanks
btw just for though im switching from nexus 4 to s3 just cause i dont need the power from the n4 and i just want the s3 screen
so i think i found the piece i think its here: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/T-Mobile-Gal...cement_Parts_Tools&hash=item4d14d4fdbd&_uhb=1
is there a demo on how to do it or should i take it to Pacific Mall and get someone to do it? how much would it cost anyways?
You only need volume up to enter recovery.. volume down is for download mode.. anyway there are apps that can get you to download or recovery mode as long as you are rooted.. you could do that meanwhile or just wait till you fix the button.. really all you have to do is flash a 4.3 rom and modem in recovery, no need to update the whole firmware
Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk
Being on 4.1.1, itd probably be a good idea to update the firmware. Thats just my opinion though.
You can root without volume up working, and or flash roms like serio said.
As for fixing it though, if you are good working on electronics and have good manual dexterity, you could probably do this yourself. But the advantage of taking it to a shop is if they screw it up theyd probably have to replace or reimburse you for it.

what if i want to flash cyanogenmod11? is there any step by step? i dont want to brick this phone
do i have to update baseband?
First thing is to get rooted. Easiest way is to flash the root66 firmware via odin. Now decide if you want to use cwm/twrp recovery, or Mobile Odin to flash your rom.
If you want to use recovery, use goo manager or rom manager from the store to install the recovery. Then from the app choose reboot recovery and flash your rom. Factory reset after and reboot. Thats it.
You may need to update your firmware to at least 4.1.2. I think cm had issues running on older firmware.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk
isnt cm going to be 4.4.2? hwo do i update ? im fully rooted and running CWM 6.0.4.5 Touch ^^ dont know about TWRP but ive been using CWM for the longest time before so i trust it
If you want to skip updating firmware, just flash the rom from cwm. If it errors out youll need to update to at least 4.1.2 (official or root66) via Odin.

Go to the firmware thread stickies in development (and linked in my Sig). Download the 4.1.2 firmware (or 4.3 if you choose, up to you), and flash using PC Odin.
Mobile Odin, while awesome in its own right, cannot update your boot loader and other important parts of the firmware needed by CM.

[Q]********Lots questions on Installing NEW bootloader for 4.2 and 4.3 firmware*****

Hi guys,
I have two T-mobile galaxy s4 M919, one is on MDL firmware and the other is on MK2 firmware.
Here is a few question I really need your wisdom and suggestion.
1. For the MDL firmware, I have simunlocked and rooted it. Also installed TWRP.
Now I am loooking to install the Omega kitkat rom v30. In its installation instruction it requires as following:
Flash the new bootloder and modems with odin
Bootloader -> BL_I9505XXUFNAD_481100_REV06_user_low_ship_MULTI_C ERT.tar.md5
If you already have the new Kit Kat bootloader there is no need to flash it again.
Modems XXUFNC9 -> I9505XXUFNC9_GSM_LTE_Modems.tar
My questions are :
1). Do I need to update my t-mobile bootloader? ( I know should use t-mobile ones). I know if updated could not go back.
2). I thinks I need to install a kitkat modem, which one should I use? Or I should just flash the KT-SGS4 - MJ5 kernel ?
3). If I just want to flash the Insane rom, do I also need to flash bootloader and flash NB4 modem?
Now is questions for the other phone.
2. For the phone with MK2 firnware s4 ( this is another Phone!), I have been following this guide to sim unlock it :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2654058
I am downloding files now. just want to make sure
1) do I need to odin back to 4.3 after my phone is unlocke with old MDL system.
2) if I want to install 4.4 roms, what should I do ?
Thank you for any of your suggestion or ideas.

OK. For the MDL phone you should only update your modem unless you want Knox. I see that the files you have chosen are for th I9505. You should never flash international Bootloader or modem or you will brick the phone. So just flash the nb4 modem and flash a KitKat ROM so you can keep your warranty.
Now for the 4.3 phone. All you have to do is root it and flash the nb4 modem or you can flash the full firmware. Either way will work for you since you already have Knox it doesn't really matter.

Correct. You can try the mk2 modem first if you like and then try nb4. You can switch them as you like depending on their performance. Its totally up to you. I would just hate to see you waste your warranty. Not everybody is as lucky as you and I my friend. We both have the stock MDL Bootloader. That's something to brag about now days!!

[Q] Downgrade stock 4.4.2 to 4.3 with a custom recovery?

I am looking for a way to downgrade from stock 4.4.2 to 4.3. I have read you can't downgrade with odin once your bootloader has been updated....
However, can you on 4.4.2
1) Install a custom recovery
2) Root
3) De-Knox.
4) Nandroid backup rooted deknoxed 4.4.2 (just to be safe).
Then,
Install a rooted stock 4.3 rom such as the one found in this page:
http://www.droidviews.com/install-android-4-3-leaked-firmware-on-att-galaxy-s3-note-2-galaxy-s4-s4-active/
Starting at the text "For AT&T S3 Users with Root and Custom Recovery" which links to a rooted 4.3 zip file?

Seems like this might work?
You can flash older roms. Just not older firmware and modems.

Thanks for the response.
Just to be clear.
Refurbished i747 shipped with 4.4.2 installed
ne4 bootloader
ne4 modem
Can I still flash a touchwiz 4.3 stock rom provided I don't overwrite the modem or bootloader? If so, will the touchwiz 4.3 rom work with the ne4 modem? Seems like the old rom may not play well with a new modem.
Again, my main goal is to use Drivelink app to use mirrorlink with my car radio head. Drivelink only works on 4.3.
Thanks for your help and patience.
I was thinking of trying this rom with ne4 modem and bootloader....

Is this a bad idea?
Should be perfectly fine. As for how well the modem works with it, it's never been much of an issue. People have been running mixed builds since the first update. It's possible it might not work quite as well, but I doubt any differences would be great enough to notice.
As for your Drive link, is it limited to 4.3 on the app side, or is it more of a rom issue? If the app simply isn't compatible, not much can be done there. But someone (I think in the S3Rx thread just found out how to get Chromecast to work. Maybe that would help your app on a 4.4.2 rom?
