Hey guys. I'll be flashing a new rom soon, and I wanted to get your opinions on which of these roms to flash. I've been using Liquidsmooth V1.4 but with Jelly Bean I'm considering flashing a new rom.
I tried AOKP when it was still ICS and I decided to switch to Liquidsmooth because it has all the same features that I use and the rom file is smaller so the battery life it better. Battery life is one of my main concerns so it will be one of the main deciding factors for my rom of choice. Please help me make my decision, and only comment if you have actually used both roms in one of their more recent forms.
Also, please include your kernel, and other info you feel is important enough to include. Thanks
Wrong section buddy. Development only in this section.

There are many threads on what ROM. Use the search feature and why are you still flashing ICS-based ROMs? Jelly Bean is out....
CM10 is probably the most feature riched ROM for JB. Thread also doesn't belong in this forum.
Liquid is one of the stupidest roms out there. They've hacked together so many features from different roms and they've done a sloppy job. Switching the icons of the notification powerwidgets doesn't work when you try from the menu (the option is there, it doesn't do anything - that's why I consider it sloppy - there are buttons that are supposed to "do something" but don't do anything.)
Also, they just took Trebuchet launcher of CM9 and just renamed it to Liquid Launcher. I know it's open source but it's still theft, isn't it?
AOKP is also a rom focusing more on features than stability.
I'd suggest you try CM9 - I found it a lot smoother than AOKP and the rom is consistent and works.
Also... wrong subforum - this **** goes to QA or general, not here.

They did the same thing for rom control and renamed it to liquid control.
Wow they really renamed it to liquid launcher? I mean yeah its open source but at least give credit where it's due and not rename a app and put liquid on it.
+1 for cm9. Although like what I said, take a look at a jelly bean roms. Particularly cm10 its really smooth

I moved from Liquid to AOKP M6 and they're both great.
M6 has given me insane battery life and an awesome balance between features/stability.
Use the 3.1.9.9 Jame Bond kernel and I promise it'l be worth it.

Hi all!
One of the wonderful things about owning a Nexus is all of the development. However, if you are a new user, or any user for that matter, a forum such as ours can become a bit overwhelming. I intend to cleary and neatly layout all of our CURRENT development in a tidy template for all to enjoy. Below you will find all of the development and guides that are available for our phone in a color coded index with links to the corresponding post. If you are a developer or a member that sees a thread you think should be added or removed to / from the op PLEASE PM ME! Posts within the thread may go unnoticed, and we wouldn't want that to happen.

Nice job! Thanks for taking time out to put up this thread.
I'm unfortunately stuck under what ROM best suits me now. Either each day or days later I end up switching ROMs and normally a circle of ROMs.
I've tried all the big best ones and just ain't satisfied, well not in a bad way but more or less it gets sluggish or ends up riddled with bugs or something.
JBsourcery, Paranoid Android, CNA many more. Is there a stable decent ROM out there for a music/gamer junkie? If I need a certain I've flashed before is there a certain kernel I need to use?

Last time I ran cm10 official, I got all sorts of issues, cm updater kept force closing, screen flashed constantly at random times and other quirks.
I've ran Cm6 Late to 10 now. Cm is a great developer no doubt, maybe it was just a bad release? Guess I'll retry another cm10 nightlie see how it runs to me.
As far as kernels, I need something with battery life and extra options.

Didn't mean to be rude. I'm just saying the op would have to go through the forum list daily or at least weekly to keep this up. Great idea, but hard to keep current - and not very useful if its not.

I'd say.. we won't get new life until 4.2 or 5.x. It will happen but until then he is right, I bought this phone during the middle cycle of this phones life. If we had devs interested in porting sense/touchwiz we'd have some new life on our phone until 4.2-5.x.

Hey guys. I love flashing new ROMs but right now I'm a bit confused.
What are the big differences between CM10.1 and AOKP? I know both are based on 4.2 (at least the unofficial AOKP nightlies are).
The main thing I need is stability and battery life. I also really like customizing the LED. Other than that...I'm lost.
Stock ROM.........................................................................................................................................................................................................
just try them out yourself.........................
I have tried them both out.
Once I install a theme and Nova Launcher, I can't tell the difference.
Just compare the feature lists. Or use CNA or PACman which incorporate features from both.
I'd say the CM10.1 & CM10.1 Kangs would be better if you want a stable ROM with frequent flashing (Nightlys) over AOKP , otherwise try Xylon as it has best features cherrypicked from both AOKP , AOSP & CM bases :good: & highly customizable + a good support thread too !!
Paranoid Android is also a better option but the PA is no more a CM base rom (AOSPA base instead) , missing those theming & more CM features .
for a closer to stock UX RasbeanJelly is the best !

Hey guys, sorry to noob it up.
I'm currently on an OG Epic running toadlife's final build of CleanGB. I'm due for an upgrade, and I'm considering the S3. It's been a while since I've tinkered with my phone because it runs so well, and I enjoy Toad's approach as it aligns well with how I think my phone should look and function. My ideal feature set is:
- Touchwiz JB based, because it's already optimized for the hardware. In my limited experience, ROMs based on the manufacturer source seem to have longer battery life, better stability, and a full feature set that already works. Things like:
- Stock camera (yes, with the silent mod)
- Sprint VVM
- Hotspot
- Customizable toggles.
-Minimal or no theming. Theming seems to be the quickest way to make the phone feel tacky and fragmented. I love the look of stock AOSP ICS and JB, the same way I enjoy a minimalist Gingerbread. Things like the AOSP dialer, SMS, lockscreen, keyboard, and icons seem to pull it together and make it look excellent.
- Blacked out or inverted apps like AOSP SMS, Gmail, Youtube, etc... looks cool, doesn't require any crazy theming, and saves some juice on that screen.
I was bummed to find out that the Foxhound ROM is only built for the international version, as I think it fits the bill of what I'd be looking for. Can anyone recommend a ROM based on these criteria? And yes, I know I don't have much to contribute as an end-user. I still think this community's a great place to hang out and get the most use out of these phones. Thanks guys.

Can't go wrong with either freeza's fre3 or clark44's FreeGS3 ROM.
From what I have seen what you want does not exist. The closest is either run CM10.1 (pretty stable feels like a daily rom until you find a bug) or run one of the stock based roms with ICS theme but it doesnt feel very complete IMO.
I have been looking for the same thing you are. I even found the foxhound rom today but like you said its not on US versions.

Your coming from the OG epic... So why not try The Peoples Rom.. Several launcher choices (Aroma installer) overall can have it how you want it. There is also a full out Edition.. AOSP-ISH 4.2 ROMS
TL;DR update to latest recovery if you plan on sticking with 4.2, every time you update your rom you will get a whole new set of sdcard/0. 4.2 way of handling multiple users for the phone.
More thorough of an explanation!!! 4.2. threads require the latest recovery of your choice (CWM or TWRP) to emulate proper layout for your sdcard (internal). It will setup the internal memory as so (at least for me lol)
/storage/sdcard0=internal
/storage/sdcard1=External
the point of it all was for multiple users to be able to use the device without issues. (more for tablets in a family home that people will share). I believe this is correct with all the formality, at least.

Things broken, don't think there are any.

Team Sonic: TouchWiz http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1750270
Another great stock rom base UVDLJA Jellybean, almost positive it is not themed at all. Although stock based themes are flashable in the themes section. It's de-bloated and has all the tweaks for build.prop for speed, network speeds, and battery. Has WiFi tether treve_app, and inverted Google talk (dark theme), has GoogleEars, has Long Press Volume To Skip Songs while the screen is off, has AC!D Audio Engine, some Android 4.2 Apps.
Didn't notice many issues with the rom, at least none posted by people. Let me know if there are some.
Frosty JB
Frosty JB: TouchWiz last UPDATED(LOCKED AND DONE FOR NOW)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1874063
Based off of the official UVDLJA Jellybean, it has many mods like; Unrestricted tethering mod, 23 toggle mod, headphone shortcut mod, no incremental ringtone, pinch to zoom gmail apk. For me, this was my go to stable rom for a while. It has great battery and speed.
Themes are available in the OP and many that are in the Theme sections will work on this.
Things broken, don't think there are any.

A stable build of T999UVDLJA has little mods but great ones. Doesn't have many if any to list from the OP lol... I rocked this build as my stable DD with WiFi calling for a couple weeks when this was released with no issues and great battery. Just doesn't have the fancy knick knacks, or bells and whistles.

These ROMs will not have native T-Mobile things ie; Wifi calling, & T-Mobile "bloat". Might have trouble with APN's, or WiFi issues that are kernel related.
Axis AxisM by HERO
[ROM][4.1.2]Axis AxisM RLS19 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2089801 This rom is something else. Has a great UI and feel, lots of customization capabilities. The stock theme options are nice. Has Multi Window capabilities. Great battery life for me with no mods.
Hyperdrive ☆ by Sbreen94
Hyperdrive ☆ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2176768 Multi-Carrier support, has many custom options available read the change log/features. Its a long one haha. Prepare for a very large 1GB download probably. Issues, read the last 5ish pages. The rom is not based for T-Mobile, but has the T999 build prop in AROMA, may still have some weird things happen though.

Good idea, and nice write-up.
Very good list ; ty
Thank you. We needed this. Hope you can update this thread as it goes. Bibles are good for new users. You should have made a third post on rooting and such lol. By the way I seen some of these CM10 roms have not been updated with the newest nightlys ??
There are plenty of threads with all those and they are stickied already. And I noticed that too, Mike and DJ's Illusion 10.1 ROM was updated today.

thought the OP could use some art, so i made some myself
by the way, call it SGH-T999 Galaxy S III Resource Bible instead, it's the way i was taught, and sounds more official
also, if you wouldn't mind adding StockMOD ROM by Team Inferno in that list as well
here's the art, hope you like it:
Awesome, it's been changed & updated good sir!
Looks really good. Good job.

Great work dude I had other phones with bibles that made it easier for anyone to find what they want. Also is less Intimading for new users trying to flash a new rom so they can choose which ones they like as oppose to going in the development thread and seeing a whole bunch of roms at once lol. Would love the kernel section and this need to be sticky.

I'll be working on stuff later today pertaining to screenies and a more section. From launchers, to audio mods, boot animations, and kernels and such.

Once it gets "reasonably" finished, we will definitely consider it. I put reasonably in quotes because it will never BE finished as ROMs get updated constantly.
@Mt3g, if you want some help, I would be more than happy. Jsut shoot me a PM and we can bounce some thoughts. I already have some ideas that I'll shoot you later on today, but I like this mucho.
Updated with Kernels, please let me know if anything needs to be changed or updated.
as much as i hate to say this, unfortunately, even with this thread here, there will still and there will always still be new people who come in without any knowledge of this phone, and who don't care to search. they're too lazy to do any reading or flashing, and all they want is to have others hand them things on a GOLD (not silver) platter. just a heads up, so be prepared
Oh I know, been around since the G1, been annoyed since I learned the no nos lol, it comes with being on a forum. The plus is, we can have this available to send those said new guy/gals to this thread, and lock up there thread that they started. Other wise ya you're completely right.
