Hello
Does anyone know a way to extract data from a Nexus 7 2013 without it being unlocked or rooted?
It is stuck in a bootloop, I think from a failed update. The tablet belongs to a family friend who has been using it as a usb device for months an contains documents, photos and other important data.
I manually sideloaded updates to 4.4.2 but that also did not work. Is there anyway to extract data off this thing? I can access stock recovery and fastboot. I would even destroy the tablet if there was a way to take the chip out and copy the stuff to a computer,
Thanks everyone
Anyone?

The only thing I can think of is that if you get it in fastboot and see if you can use adb to pull the files from it that you need..

Hi,
First off, my ouya is bricked, i get tot hte ouya "!" screen, thats it.
So after going from zero knowledge to actually got ADB to work and being able to adb roms to the ouya, im finally stuck.
When i try to install a OTA update rom (.zip file) after ADB over, it stops and says the version number is to low compared to the version on the ouya. does anybody have a room that can be ADB over and after that i can just do a factory reset? Any help is appreciated!
I´ve tried some other stockplus roms etc, but it just starts installing then it says canceled. what am i missing?
Is there any rom out there that can be adb over?!

Dont know how to choose location on the ouya, i know how to ADB stuff, (belive me it took 2days of hairpulling to figure that one out).
The problam is that i was in superuser with a fileexplorer i had edit a document and after that i was going to put the "read only" status back on the ouya systemfiles. But accidently unclicked read, so the ouya now just boots in to ouya"!" cause it cant read the system files. Does anyone have a system dump that i can flash? or can i flash a system dump just to get in the system and then do a system update / recovery?
Whould the abominable snowman update work if someone hade the ota rom for that? Since its a lter version than what i got i mean?
Hey guys, I just got my LG G Pad 8.3, and I love the snappiness, and build quality.
However, all of the LG stuff on there is kind of annoying.
Would rooting remove all of the 'bloatware'.
I have never rooted before, and I am wondering what you guys think I should do.
Thanks for looking!

I thought LG lets you disable or delete stock aps. I don't remember to be honest.

Rooting your device will give you the ABILITY to remove all bloated are. Once your root your device, you will need to install a program capable of removing bloatware apps, such as Titanium Backup.

hi if you want to get rid of all the useless bloatware the best way is to root, install a custom recovery and then install a custom rom like cm11. This rom comes super clean and fast. LG stock rom is good only if you need maximum stability, the lg apps or for people who have no idea what to do with their devices and stuff like rooting, custom recoveries etc. CM11 is very stable even if it's in nightly status and there are some custom roms which let you install the lg apps anyway. Root is a must have if you want to run the best apps for android like titanium backup, adaway, better battery stats and so many more.

nop, unfortunately you cant delete or even disable the lg or the google play store apps on stock lg rom
If you like customizing your device and using it to the best of its ability and you are a good reader than can follow simple easy steps... rooting is for you. If you like trial by error, try first and read later you may want to stay at stock
Rooting, Roms, and Custom Recoveries will bring you devices to a level you wont believe. But at first you have to take the time to understand how it all works and how you can improve or screw up your device.
Just like Jesus said to His followers, before your follow me, you must count the cost (He used Parables but that is what he was saying Luke 14) . IMO it is worth it
Well I think that I decided I want to install CM11.
But I can't seem to find a guide or anything like that.
Would someone be so kind to link me to one?
Thanks for the replies guys

Hello!
Root:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2553192
Recovery Flash: - Respect the build numbers! Read before you flash anything in order to save yourself a headache that is LG PC Suite and Recovery Tool. I recommend you use Flashify after you have gained root. Read on how to use the file for Flashify in the thread as well.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2551499
After this is done, you go and download the lates CM Nightly in the Original Android dev forum, slap it onto your device and then you wipe dalvik/cache and data in the recovery options. Do not wipe System.
Then you just flash the CM zip file.
Good luck and have fun. Quote me if you need anything so I can get back to you.

Thank you so much for helping me out!
First of all, what is fastboot and adb?
And second of all, do I need an SD card to flash the rom, or can I do it all through USB?
Edit: I forgot I have a micro-SD card, but no reader :/
ADB is google's program aimed mainly for developers. It allows you to connect your tablet with your pc in a way that you can move critical system files while the normal usb connection doesnt allow you to do this. You need it in order to root and flash a custom recovery. You can download it from google in a big package (this is a very useful guide for beginners http://techbeasts.com/2013/08/26/how-to-install-adb-fastboot-drivers-on-your-windows-pc-guide/) or you can search for smaller versions. I ve used minimal adb and fastboot (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790) and worked fine. Alternatively you could use an app called flashify to flash the twrp image as curael said.
You dont need a sd card to hack a tablet, you can use the tablet's internal storage. Also you dont need a sd card reader, you can connect the tablet with your pc (wireless or usb) and manage the files with it. Its more convenient than having to pull out the sd card and connect it with a reader every time you wanna move files into it.

Thank you so much! I appreciate it.
When I CD to the bin folder in the loki folder, do I do it through the CMD prompt that opens when I open ADB, or just a normal CMD prompt?

well that didnt work for me as when i cded into that bin folder i had an error. I moved loki_flash and twrp image inside adb's folder, navigated to that folder, shift+right click, open command window here and gave the commands as usual. That way there was no need to cd to loki's bin folder.
Hi
The screen on my rooted Nexus 7 2013 LTE (deb) with stock rom won't turn anymore. Not even after a reboot.
But luckily, on my PC, I can still access it with adb - seems, that I once had connected to it and allowed adb debug access and had the device remember that
Is there some way, that I could now create a nandroid backup? I already have a replacement unit, where I'd like to re-install what I had on my old deb.
Thanks.

Get into the bootloader and reflash. It's the only way to fix it. Restoring a nandroid would probably just cause problems.
What did you do to break it in the first place?

Hm, why should a reflash help? I'm not even seeing the boot animation anymore.
What did I do? Well, I was commuting on the bus from work to home and had been using the device on the bus. A few minutes later, I arrived home, and since then, the screen is off ☹
And I am also not interested in fixing THIS device. I've got a replacement from Google and have to send in the broken anyway.
Use adb pull to retrieve any and all data you want to retain.
my nexus 7 2013 wifi edition is stuck in opening wifi set up because my wifi cant connect to any router. Is there any way to bypass this one like for example using ethernet cable instead of using the wifi, is that possible? or any other way to disable or skip the wifi set up and how can i flash custom rom for this one without using twrp ? My device is not rooted. fresh flashed from stock.
or please anyone who own the same with my device can i have your nandroid back up file please, ill give you load for the reward please please help me. :crying:
I'd recommend using Nexus Root Toolkit - it has full ilustrated instructions for tunning your device. You can flash a custom rom using it. cheers.

Nexus Root Toolkit is a dead simple app that lets you flash content through fastboot mode. If your device is softbricked, it can also fix it. http://www.wugfresh.com/nrt/

I don't know how to help you with your wifi problem, I just helped you with flashing through fastboot & NRT. Hope someone else knows something about it. Cheers.
Do you mean that it has no internet connection when connected to WiFi? I also experience it. You just have to reset the router or google how to fix it.

You have to root your device for that. In order to root your device, you will be needing a custom kernel then flash the superSU 2.60+
From there, you could easily delete the system apps.

Doesn't look like the NRT has been updated yet to this version, likely just have to give it a few more days.

anyways, as long as im already settled, i can breath freely now.
sooo I decided I want to go back to stock, I'm not as technically inclined as I use to be and just want a normal phone I can just easily to updates on .
Currently TWRP - I tried to sideload the .zip but adb says cannot read file (I have tried both 32bit adb and 64bit adb) doesn't seem to effect it any.
I cannot find my files in TWRP so trying to load them from there doesn't work either..... I have put the 2 files the oem stock and the recovery img on my phone but internal storage says 0mb. I was able to manipulate it to finally come up and read info off the internal storage but the files are still not there, yet when I bring up my phone on the computer the files are both there.
can anyone please help me im frustrated and have spent hours trying to fix this and im hitting brick walls......

Have you tried using the unbrick tools? They are made specifically to return your phone to stock, though it gets wiped in the process
