Hi all, does anyone else having the problem of extremely slow charging on Galaxy Note 2?
It takes me more than 12 hours to charge from around 15% to 100%. I've read tons of threads, but none of them can fix the problem...here is my specific situation:
1. I use the original battery.
2. I use the original charger.
3. I use a socket rather than PC.
4. The charging current app suggests that my phone is charge normally, the current is normal.
5. I bought new original charger and original battery, but the problem is still there.
6. I killed all the apps running in the background when charging, problem remains...
7. Currently I use unofficial Cyanogenmod 11, but the problem emerged since I used Samsung official ROM 4.1.2. So I think the problem is independent with different OS.
However, I do find a "solution", that's it, reboot the device when I charge and stop at the interface of typing PIN code to unlock sim card. If I do so, the charging becomes normal, about 2hr 30mins. It seems that there is a unseen background app draining my battery, but I used all kinds of monitoring apps and none of these apps show that there is a background app draining my battery. And I think it doesn't make sense, because if there is a background app draining my battery, it should drain my battery as well when I'm not charging the phone. However battery performance is extraordinary especially I upgraded to 4.4.2 (Cyanogenmod 11), after one day usage I still can end up with around 40~50% battery. So I think I can rule out the possibility that there is background app draining my battery.
So, does anyone else having the same problem? How can I fix it? Do I have the reboot my phone every time when I want to charge? Anyone one has better solution? Thanks in advance!

Hi All,
I am having troubled battery stat since I last flashed to a custom rom.
The battery will NOT reach the CHARGED status, and hence the battery stat did not reset and go on for days.
This morning I have decided to do a full wipe, but it appear that the same problem persist, at 68% on AC (most of the time stop at a random value) , it says NOT Charging.
I also thought that it could be the battery that was giving the problem, so i tried with a spare battery that i have, same results. Even when i Swap battery the stats stays.
Screenshot of battery stat. with AC power connected after a full wipe
Many people (myself included) have been having similar issues as of late. I too have separate batteries, neither of which is older than 6 months, and both exhibit similar behavior. I'm sure you've looked through and perhaps saw these threads, but I am trying to shed more light on the issue as it is perplexing many.

my troubles started soon after i flashed my first 4.2 rom. it started with only charging to 90%, now my one battery gets to 68% while my other only gets to 65% (30% loss in the past month). I am hoping an explanation comes up soon.
I had the same problem too, but for me the solution was switching between a few roms and calibrating my battery (wiping the battery stats). What ROM are you using?
I am on paranoid android, it was working fine until i did beta 8... and never able to do again..
what rom did you switch around to get it fixed?
Does anyone know any certain solution for this problem ?
After 4.2 upgrade , my battery gets to about 80 % and everyday It decreases
It bothering me and since in my country Google has not any agency for warranty replacement or repair,I'm gonna sell my Gnex if It problem goes on !
It's really strange. I have the same problem also, using either the official Apple 5v @ 1amps charger or a samsung charger with the same specs my phone only goes to 98% 99%, but when I use a generic charger ( I only used a 1-2 times with GNex) that's rated 5.2 volts (scares me) at 800mah it reaches 100%, as it does with the PC also.
When I swap the battery in my note 2, it won't power on until I plug it in for a minute even if the battery is charged. Any ideas?
Edit: some more info: I was having bad battery drain on CM10, installed battery doctor. I thought I'd try a new battery as well for the battery drain and started noticing that it wouldn't power on after changing the battery. I formatted, refreshed and installed slimrom 4.3. It looks like I'm getting better battery life, but I have basically nothing installed. I'm still not able to replace the battery without a power cable to "jump start" it. Its almost like the phone doesn't even detect the battery until I plug in a cable.

Update: I don't have any better battery life with slimrom. I'm loosing about 8-9% an hour in standby. About 5% an hour with the phone powered completely off. I have 3 different batteries that all hold charge when out of the phone.
Are you using one of those crappy GOLD Chinese batteries? That might be your problem, don't know why, or of all of them cause issues, but a co-worker bought one for his HTC and was having a lot of issues.
For the battery drain you should at least try to diagnose what is causing it. Either install Wake Lock Detector (free on Google Play) or Better battery Stats (paid on Google Play, free on xda).
Most of my battery drain are constant and numerous wake locks caused by Goolge apps, including Keep and Google +. Once you know what is causing it, it will be easier to fix.
Update for anyone with similar issue..
I followed a guide on here to get back to factory stock (no root, stock recovery, etc). I had problems getting into download mode at one point and thought I was completely bricked until I decide to try booting without the battery even in the phone (powered just by USB). I was able to get into download mode that way and revert to stock.
Here's the strangest part to me: battery life is now back to normal. Not just regular use and standby, but completely powered off, I now only loose 0.5-1% an hour where I was loosing ~7% when powered off.
I don't know if it makes a difference, but I've also been keeping my wifi off. I'm experiencing terribly weak wifi transmission (still trying to figure that one out) that will cause my phone to loose wifi connection, or it will stay connected but is unable to load anything. Maybe my wifi issues relate to the crazy battery problems. Who knows.
Hi I have the same issue on my Galaxy Note 3 N9005. Battery drain when phone completely off. Can't turn on after swapping battery without charge. Tried factory reset, flash stock rom issue still exists. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Hi,
Situation as follows:
15% battery - "low battery" notification
14%, plug in charger
13% WTF -> Settings app shows, that tablet is charging
Reboot (this fixes the problem)
21%
The thing is:
I do not understand why this is happening. It COULD be related to CM12.1 or to the tablet (hardware). I am currently on the nightly from 8th February, but this is happening for a quite long time now...
Any ideas?
Thanks
Tablet hardware, look for reseating battery or replacing for our tablet on YouTube, mine does same from stock to cm13
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
Getting the same. The battery charge level is going crazy. Sometimes 15% and decreasing switch off tablet, unplug, replug boot, it now shows 60% (rom is in line with kernel)
So I'd say hardware kernel interaction when true level goes under 20%. Also make sure to have a proper charger and cable.
I seem to have it less often with stock rom.
Nothing to worry about when you know it..
Hi,
I tried to clean flash cm12.1 with opengoogleapps. Reporting back what happens
Hello,
do you have any updates on this issue? I experience exactly the same...tablet turns off, because of low battery, when I turn it on directly afterwards it claims ~30%-50% battery left.
I tried recalibrating the battery without any visible effect.
I do not know what helped....
I did 2 things:
Change the Micro USB cable to a high quality one (I use the one, which shipped with my paperwhite)
I use a different charger ( http://www.amazon.de/gp/switch-lang...ef=cs_switchlang?ie=UTF8&language=en_GB&psc=1 )
This resolved the issue for me (I did try a lot. Maybe I did clean caches in recovery).
Hope this helps !
Background:
Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 (Sprint T807P)
Stock ROM (rooted)
This was a case of me not leaving well enough alone but I downloaded a Battery Calibration App (Root) app, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vitula.batterycalibration&hl=en, and decided to give it a shot to possibly help my battery life.
Well, I charged to 100%, and hit the calibrate option and allowed a full discharge to 100%. I then plugged in my Tab and didn't bother with it until the next day. It was during the boot that I noticed it was only at about 71%, changed chargers to another 2.1 amp Samsung OEM adapter and proceeded to use it while plugged in and noticed it was still discharging. I then turned it off and noticed the EXTREMELY slow charging.
While I still had enough juice I flashed it back to the latest stock OEM build in case something has messed up in the ROM itself. After leaving it stock without even configuring the issue still remains. Very rarely do I blame an app for a possible hardware issue, especially after reverting to stock, but that's where I am currently at. From 0% to 100% takes approximately 25 hours (HA!).
I even opened the Tab up and removed/reseated the battery to no improvement.
Anyone have a similar issue with a definitive result?
If the battery is shot I can suck it up and buy another one, just want to know if there is any thing else I can do.
One fine morning my Note 10.1 2014 battery started showing as 0% and will not 'charge' (i.e., percentage will not rise). As a result, the tablet has to stay plugged-in always to use it (just like a desktop computer). The moment it is unplugged, it shuts down in 1 or 2 seconds. Tried different chargers/cables/flex cables/new battery/uninstalling/reinstalling/warming...& what not. But nothing solves the issue. I came to know that the battery is actually holding/taking in charge which is evident from the fact that the tablet runs without being plugged-in in the recovery/TWRP mode! It seems just that the android OS is not recognizing the charging. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
Is the battery really good? The boot menu uses a lot less current than normal boot up operation.
Otherwise you're looking at a possible mobo failure. If it has a charger pcb it could be that.
A Samsung Experience center at a Best Buy might be able to sort it out for you.

It is not the battery, I am pretty sure! As for the other possible causes suggested, it seems Samsung considers the product too 'old' now to look into/offer any service/parts replacement. Anyway, thanks for the quick reply!
I got the same experience. Recently installed LOS14.1 on my Samsung 2 7.0 and battery just drained and inspite charging it overnight never recovered. I think it's really the LOS 14.1. Now I cant even boot it up anymore.

Please do post, if you find a solution!
I strongly doubt that LOS14.1 (lineage-14.1-20210320-UNOFFICIAL-lt03lte) is the culprit as my old P605 still works with the unchanged battery.
Once charged it lasts for quite some days (usage 0.5h/day) without problems.
It's always in flight mode and mostly WLAN is shut off.
It's not that cuz of an OS it's the old battery problem....
Same thing happens to one of my cellhphones.
I charrge it to 100 % while it's turned OFF then tomorrow I turned it on and battery is at 1 %, 0 % and shuts off.
It's just old Li-Ion battery which needs replacement.
After having replaced the battery with a new one with about 50% charge the discharged P605 would only recharge to the level of the original charge. It returned to normal behaviour after charging once with the original 5v/2A charger and the original cable with the second GND contact missing. If the latter did the trick, with most cables u can't tell whether the contact is wired to GND or not.
But in the days of miniUSB, the second GND was sometimes used to put the device in charge or pc connection mode, by swapping cables.
