I started to suffer from my p-601 after rooting.
Battery charging is taking much longer time about 8 hours from 0 to 100%.
Also I noticed the note is suddenly off, then I have to long press the power button to restart, then it displays strange message "headphone is disconnected"
Then the cycle is repeated frequently, since yesterday it was more than 10 times to notice this frequent death or sudden off. I think it is related to root/nova launcher or motherboard, really I don`t know what is going on.
Can someone help me or advice me what is going on.
Best Regards.

CleanRom is for the P600, yours is P601, that`s not the right rom for your variant.
I'm not brave enough to mess with ROM's, already bricked one device for good, but I can tell you this-Nova Launcher is going bye-bye on both of my 2014's and my Note 8.0. I'm finished with it crashing all the time. Getting rid of that plus freezing Knox and all the other crap stopped the random reboots and crashes. I'm now using KitKat Launcher, and so far it is much more stable. But half the time I'm still almost afraid to use the 2014...

Finally I have re-flashed my p-601 with a stock rom because there is no reliable custom rom for the p-601.
All bizarre performance disappeared. No more sudden shut down. Battery discharge was acceptable.
Someone was recommending decreasing the transition animation to 0.5 so I did it and actually helped a little in performance.

Most likely something that you have installed on your phone isnt liking ICS. Hard to narrow down if you have alot of apps installed.
I have had mine for 6 days now and not had a single Sleep of Death and I havent seen too many comments about it so I dont think its a problem with ICS directly.
Mark.

Exactly, it is way way too likely that turning your CPU down will result in 'Sleep of death'

Well its still worth noting. SetCPU never did this on my DHD
I had exactly the same thing last night, I even made my own thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1360847&page=2
I even wrote a simple app for logging the battery temperature and time, so I'll leave it on next night and I'll see what happens. Because I'm pretty sure my phone switched off due to overheating, as it was really, really hot in the morning, after I switched it on the battery was at 46C.
I'm afraid I can confirm that I have experienced the same "sleep of death" problem twice now. I can't remember what I was doing the first time, but the second time I was only browsing and I know I didn't have any apps installed because I had previously reset my phone. I've only had the phone for two days now and if it does it again I might have to send it back.
I expected a glitch or two, but with the volume bug and other annoying things like the lack of flash and poor camera quality, I'm beginning to regret my purchase. Although I love the ice cream sandwich experience, I'm now thinking of getting the Galaxy Note instead, and waiting for ICS to arrive on that next year. At least then I will be able to watch iPlayer in the meantime.
Mines done it about 4 times. Pre installed Movie maker seems to induce it.

Had a sleep of death for the first time yesterday - the only "different" thing I did during the day was use spotify so there maybe something in that!
Same again last night, woke up this morning and phone was on but wouldn't wake. Notification light was on solid. Was plugged in at wall all night, didn't seem too warm when I held it.
Time to start debugging I guess
I've had this issue twice too.
I do not have spotify installed, and the phone was NOT hot at all. Not even warm!
I was just in gmail, sent a mail, then pressed the home button, and black.... gone.
Had to pull battery.
Thinking of having phone replaced by Handtec. I know this is probably a software glitch, but the volume bug, and the fact my unit was one that handtec had "tested" etc, I might just ask for a brand new one from the new flashed batch due next week.
Wtf! Just how wide spread is this??? Seems like too many people are having this issue.
Phone hasn't even arrived yet and I'm already starting to question my purchase.
1 more bug and im cancelling my order !
Well, it's the first device with ICS so I expect there will be a few bugs in the future which will need to be fixed. That's the reason why I'll go for the Nexus ... it's a nice piece of hardware but even more important is that it will be the device which gets the fixes first.
Did anyone check to see if you've had an OTA for the volume ghost fix and this problem has spawned instead? Seems like a fairly new problem if you have followed the forum.

hi All
I saw a lot of topics related to "nexus turns off", but haven't seen that someone mentioning Android system causing this issue.
It starts couple days ago, vibrates and turns off. In this days i realized that before vibrates it shows "Android System" and "Shutting down" dialog (see attached screenshot). that is not cause of battery low. it happened with 70% battery as well.
I restored device, re-flashed with 4.0.2 and flashed with 4.0.4, nothing helped. I don't know what to do. Is there anyone, who saw this issue before or know any solution.
Appreciate in advance.
Try a different rom?

Next time it happens with a lot of battery could you show a screenshot? Because every time my phone dies, it shows Android System. But if it doesn't show the Android System screen, maybe your rom is just having random reboots.

I tried to change my ROM, I but I don't how to do it. Now actually waiting for my phone dies with full battery to take screenshot. Today I went that shop where I bought device, that said battery problem and gave me new battery. But I don't think that is battery problem. As soon as I have screenshot I'll upload.
Last time some guy flashed my device with 4.0.4 android. Is it so that my device already rooted? Cause to before change ROM I gotta root it. Or how to know my device already rooted or not? Thanks
Do you have superuser installed? And if so, download rom manager and click to flash clockworkmod specifically for your device

Battery stats RESET at every reboot. Is it just me or is this a JB/Samsung related bug? To me this is NOT normal and it definitely didn't happen in ICS or GB
------------------------------------------------------------------------
:good: Updated Tue, Nov.20.2012
As strange as it may sound, after about 3-4 cycles, the funny issue reported above is gone. Now my SGH-I317M behaves like it's supposed to and so, the battery stats are being kept after reboot. Like all the other Samsung phones I have/had, the battery stats are being reset after the phone has been kept plugged in for a while - which is normal. I took some time to report this just to make sure that it's consistent.
Yeah, I find that annoying too. I wish it kept it's settings. I was hoping to get an accurate look at my daily usage today, but an early reboot is going to destroy that.

Still...I wonder, is this a bug or is it Samsung's/Google's new vision about how battery stats are supposed to be working? If it's a bug they'll probably fix it but if the bug is in someone's head, then we're kind of screwed - from this point onward (JB, KLP, etc)

Not quite sure what you mean by "stock phone" but I have the SG2 (SGH-I727R) with ICS 4.0.4, rooted and SG3 (SGH-I747M) with ICS 4.0.4, rooted and DEFINITELY none of them do that. The Note II (SGH-I317M) is certainly my first Android phone to do that - after all, think about it! Is your battery starting a new cycle after every reboot? Plus, the phone might not even get close to a plug. Why reset the stats?

I agree. Resetting is stupid and it would always happen towards the end of the day...before I could see my battery stats lol

I used "Device Analyzer" in the past to see a weeks worth of battery stats in one view. But it only gives you charge levels, not app usage.
My One X resets if I charge it above ~70%. Every android ROM and phone I have had in the past only reset at a full charge. And I haven't seen one yet that resets at a reboot. Sounds like a bug. Fingers crossed for fixing when they push the side by side app view update.
To make sure, we are talking about this data, right?

Hello,
I know there are countless threads about the battery issues, but im having a hard time trying to find a solution for my problem.
My battery drain insanely fast, even on idle. I can barley get 5-6 hours on my battery. Standard usage, some Internet, texting etc. I have all the pre installed apps disabled, and have most apps I downloaded on manual sync.
A friend of mine had the same issue and replaced the battery and the phone is back to normal. I replaced the battery and still have the same issue.
It takes a long time to charge, sometimes I leave charging while the phone is off, and come back am hour later and it barley charged 3%.
Please I need some help, any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks in advanced.

How long have you had the phone and when did this start happening? Are you stock? If you're running a custom rom, when did you flash it (or any updates)?
I've had it since early September.
Same rom, using 4.1.1. Never been rooted.

It sounds to me that software-wise your phone's battery should be working correctly, especially if you've disabled so many apps and never rooted. I think it's a defective battery. If you don't want to spend too much, you can buy 3rd party replacement batteries, but they probably won't have NFC.
I've already replaced the battery. I got the same battery my friend got when her s3 was having the same problem... Now her phone is fine and mines still isn't.

Ok. That's not good. Assuming you've tried factory resetting the phone and it still didn't do anything, I say go back to carrier store and get a replacement phone. Something obviously isn't right. Phone hasn't been out a year yet so it'll fall under manufacturer warranty. I had to get mine replaced a month ago for another issue.

I've run into this issue as well. I have GPS on and Wifi off most of the time. The best thing that I've been able to do is flash the stock firmware using the Samsung SmartSwitch application for PC. I saw this solution recommended on another XDA post and YouTube video. I was doubtful it would work, considering the phone is brand new, but after I did it, it helped out quite a bit. I've slept with my phone unplugged now for about 7-8 hours and only saw a decrease of 5% in battery. It's an unfortunate solution, but it could help.
The video I found on this is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8AZyalTf5Y

Turn off VoLTE and WiFi Calling. The cell standby will practically disappear from your battery usage list. Reassess after doing that.

Hmm. Try backing up your data with SmartSwitch, flashing stock firmware, then restoring what you can. My first S6 (on my 3rd now... 2nd had dust under screen) had a problem going into deep sleep, and even after factory resets/flashing stock firmware via Odin, I could not solve the problem which makes me think it was hardware related. I was at a loss so I took it back and had them swap the device.

Sounds about right - good luck. When I went to have mine replaced the T-Mobile store was dead set on convincing me that it was normal for the phone to drop 35-40% as I slept for 6 hours. Also tried telling me that 6-8 hours battery life with an hour of screen time is normal "because Samsung used a smaller battery". I got pissed, just returned the phone, and paid the $50 restocking fee. T-Mobile corporate asked for a copy of my receipt and just credited the $50 to my bill.
