Hello,
I know there are countless threads about the battery issues, but im having a hard time trying to find a solution for my problem.
My battery drain insanely fast, even on idle. I can barley get 5-6 hours on my battery. Standard usage, some Internet, texting etc. I have all the pre installed apps disabled, and have most apps I downloaded on manual sync.
A friend of mine had the same issue and replaced the battery and the phone is back to normal. I replaced the battery and still have the same issue.
It takes a long time to charge, sometimes I leave charging while the phone is off, and come back am hour later and it barley charged 3%.
Please I need some help, any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks in advanced.

How long have you had the phone and when did this start happening? Are you stock? If you're running a custom rom, when did you flash it (or any updates)?
I've had it since early September.
Same rom, using 4.1.1. Never been rooted.

It sounds to me that software-wise your phone's battery should be working correctly, especially if you've disabled so many apps and never rooted. I think it's a defective battery. If you don't want to spend too much, you can buy 3rd party replacement batteries, but they probably won't have NFC.
I've already replaced the battery. I got the same battery my friend got when her s3 was having the same problem... Now her phone is fine and mines still isn't.

Ok. That's not good. Assuming you've tried factory resetting the phone and it still didn't do anything, I say go back to carrier store and get a replacement phone. Something obviously isn't right. Phone hasn't been out a year yet so it'll fall under manufacturer warranty. I had to get mine replaced a month ago for another issue.

Can somebody tell me what is going on with my phone??? Every so often I completely lose service and then my phone turns off. When I turn the phone back on the battery is completely drained. It just happened...before turning off the battery was at 97%, but when I turned it back on the battery was down to 5%. I've had my phone for over a year, but this just started happening in the past month.
I was running Unnamed 2.0 (GB) with EL29 modem and kernel up until last week. I tried Blazer v4.01 (GB). I just switched to the newest ICS version of Blazer with FG31 modem and rom. This has happened on each of these setups. Like I said, I was running the UnNamed - EL29 setup for a while without any problems. I've read about the loss of service bug with our phones, but I thought that was resolved a while ago.
Is there any zip file that can be flashed to resolve this? Any help and advice is greatly appreciated.

How long have you had the rom?0
It started happening when I was on UnNamed 2.01...i ran that for close to a year without any problems. I just tried Blazer GB and ICS about a month ago.
I installed the Los file from another thread but that hasn't helped.
Could it be a virus on the phone?
Should I start with a completely new install of the ROM, kernel, modem and apps...rather than restoring previous backed up versions?
Start fresh, stock rooted rom and run for a few days.
Possibly bad battery or charger also, it happens.
How much over a year have you had it?
Wonder why...

I have started having the same issue with my e4gt. I have the stock rom FI29 rooted. The phone used to work just fine and one day after applying the FI27 it just started having this issue. The phones looses the signal and shuts down when I am doing anything on the phone for longer than 1-5 min.
Did the original author resolve this? If so, could you pelase share what helped?

Yup, first it LOS, then flicker followed by turning off with no power down animation, reboot and battery is at or below 5%, shuts off again, won't reboot this is the biggest clue that the battery has pooped the bed. The battery can even still test as good, receiving and returning proper voltage but the battery is fubar if its bulging. Sprint corporate repair centers will replace free if they have one in stock, otherwise order an anker on amazon/eBay and then contact Samsung support they will email you a shipping label, you send them the battery and they will send you a new OEM battery and you end up with 2 for the price of the anker. This is the route I had to go took 10days to get my new one from Samsung from the day I mailed it til I received the new one
Edit: according to the guy I spoke to at Samsung they warranty the batteries for 18months instead of the 12 they warranty the device itself. Anker also warranties their batteries for 18months as well

I have the exact same issue.. my battery will be fully charged, then ill do something on the phone, it flickers, then restarts, and battery is completely dead..
I went to sprint, had them check my battery and they said the battery is fine...
Today my phone did this again, then when it restarted, all the setting I had on my messenger app, had all been reset, and so I had to do those all over again. And all the apps, that I had in folders I made, were now all out of the folders and I had to put them all back again. So frustrating.
As stated before though, the battery may test as good but still be bad. Happens with cars too and very often actually. I'd just go back to the store and not back down until you get a new battery. This is a common issue and they know it.

The battery may test as functional but as soon as you can prove it's bulging - hence the spin test - they can't disagree that the battery is failing and requires replacement.

Battery stats RESET at every reboot. Is it just me or is this a JB/Samsung related bug? To me this is NOT normal and it definitely didn't happen in ICS or GB
------------------------------------------------------------------------
:good: Updated Tue, Nov.20.2012
As strange as it may sound, after about 3-4 cycles, the funny issue reported above is gone. Now my SGH-I317M behaves like it's supposed to and so, the battery stats are being kept after reboot. Like all the other Samsung phones I have/had, the battery stats are being reset after the phone has been kept plugged in for a while - which is normal. I took some time to report this just to make sure that it's consistent.
Yeah, I find that annoying too. I wish it kept it's settings. I was hoping to get an accurate look at my daily usage today, but an early reboot is going to destroy that.

Still...I wonder, is this a bug or is it Samsung's/Google's new vision about how battery stats are supposed to be working? If it's a bug they'll probably fix it but if the bug is in someone's head, then we're kind of screwed - from this point onward (JB, KLP, etc)
iirc all stock phones ive had do that. Atrix and the OG note. The note didnt do that once modded tho.

Not quite sure what you mean by "stock phone" but I have the SG2 (SGH-I727R) with ICS 4.0.4, rooted and SG3 (SGH-I747M) with ICS 4.0.4, rooted and DEFINITELY none of them do that. The Note II (SGH-I317M) is certainly my first Android phone to do that - after all, think about it! Is your battery starting a new cycle after every reboot? Plus, the phone might not even get close to a plug. Why reset the stats?

Stock implies just that...STOCK. no root, stock. Dont know what to tell you but both mine did this quirk. Was annoying as hell.
I agree. Resetting is stupid and it would always happen towards the end of the day...before I could see my battery stats lol

I used "Device Analyzer" in the past to see a weeks worth of battery stats in one view. But it only gives you charge levels, not app usage.
My One X resets if I charge it above ~70%. Every android ROM and phone I have had in the past only reset at a full charge. And I haven't seen one yet that resets at a reboot. Sounds like a bug. Fingers crossed for fixing when they push the side by side app view update.
To make sure, we are talking about this data, right?

So I got this phone with a warrenty. the at&t Rep took my old phomlne rooted and flashed. he said they didnt care. So with that said if I rooted my s3 do I really need to worry about the warrent? Or should I just root it anyways? I really want to root because I want to tether.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
its surprising (and can i say unheard of?) that a carrier rep would take rooted device seeings how rooting voids the warranty. understand that you may possibly hear more back from your carrier about your device. also, i wouldn't expect this type of thing to happen again.
with that being said, i would root away
in the event you begin having hardware issues and need to return the device, it is easy to unroot and return to stock. there are a lot of great ROMs on XDA that offer tethering. Cheers
Yeah thats what I thought it was weird they wpuld just take it. But yeah I'm just going to root it thanks.

there's a link in my signature that you can check out. it gets you setup from start to finish.
as far as your battery life goes, there are many variables involved that determine how long it lasts. if you many or all of the packaged samsung apps turned on as well as the gps, wifi, etc, you will see less battery. adjust screen brightness and app sync times. i'm sure you know all this. have you checked out better battery stats to see what all is absorbing juice?
Well about Samsung stock apps. Your right they do take up most the battery...but since im rooting I will probably remove most of them. But the weird problem im having is when I unplug my phone after its been fully charged it drops to 98% and it just bugs me.

here's a link to an old i9300 thread by some dudes with the same issue. apparently its known and perhaps even intentional by samsung. i wouldnt know. i was only stock for the 5 minutes it took to root and flash a ROM

It's just reading battery level more accurately than you're used to. It doesn't charge to 100 and stay there. It gets there and lets it discharge to 95 or so and then charges it back up (if it's left on the charger after fully charging). Still says it's fully charged when you take it off and drops somewhat quickly to what it actually is.

If you got store credit then this was not a warranty or insurance replacement. So I am guessing the phone you traded was out of warranty then. In this case, they are probably just going to flash to stock anyway to ensure everything is erased and it starts fresh as refurbished. Or they will recycle it so rooted is no big deal.
Not the first time that this has happened. Last night, went to sleep at almost midnight, phone was at about 50%. Now that I woke up a few minutes ago, the phone was turned off with 0% battery left.

I've run into this issue as well. I have GPS on and Wifi off most of the time. The best thing that I've been able to do is flash the stock firmware using the Samsung SmartSwitch application for PC. I saw this solution recommended on another XDA post and YouTube video. I was doubtful it would work, considering the phone is brand new, but after I did it, it helped out quite a bit. I've slept with my phone unplugged now for about 7-8 hours and only saw a decrease of 5% in battery. It's an unfortunate solution, but it could help.
The video I found on this is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8AZyalTf5Y

Turn off VoLTE and WiFi Calling. The cell standby will practically disappear from your battery usage list. Reassess after doing that.

Hmm. Try backing up your data with SmartSwitch, flashing stock firmware, then restoring what you can. My first S6 (on my 3rd now... 2nd had dust under screen) had a problem going into deep sleep, and even after factory resets/flashing stock firmware via Odin, I could not solve the problem which makes me think it was hardware related. I was at a loss so I took it back and had them swap the device.

Sounds about right - good luck. When I went to have mine replaced the T-Mobile store was dead set on convincing me that it was normal for the phone to drop 35-40% as I slept for 6 hours. Also tried telling me that 6-8 hours battery life with an hour of screen time is normal "because Samsung used a smaller battery". I got pissed, just returned the phone, and paid the $50 restocking fee. T-Mobile corporate asked for a copy of my receipt and just credited the $50 to my bill.
Yesterday my Note 4 stated acting up...
The 1st 1/2 of the day it worked just fine. After lunch time, I noticed my phone was starting to lag with pretty much everything I tried to do. Throughout the day, the lagging got worse and then my phone started to freeze up (to the point I would have to pull my battery).
Last night I completely wiped my phone and re-wiped the cache and started over from scratch. I only loaded up about 1/2 of what was on my phone prior. Today the phone is still lagging bad and freezing. Now it is also re-booting on its own.
Now it just rebooted, but booted into recovery mode 2 times. I had to pull the battery a few times to get it to re-boot correctly.
I have not installed anything new or updated anything recently.
Any ideas????
How's your battery life?

Just wondering where you got a new battery? The Sprint stores here in Minneapolis don't have any. I did get a Samsung battery set off of Sprint.com. It's on clearance for $24.99. You get the battery, an external charger (you have to use your own charger) and a case to hold the battery. Free shipping, too.
I got mine from batteries plus. So far it's running great with its first charge.
