Not sure if this has been asked before.....
However, I would like to know if you can flash extra zip files like boot animations over a custom rom. I am running HiApk sense 2.1/3.0 ROM and everytime I try to flash something else it installs it and then when I reboot my phone nothing happens!!!?!!??! Is it possible to do this?
Thanks in advance
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda app-developers app
Bootanimations are zip file but u dont flash them. U have to use root explorer or simular and put the bootanimation.zip in "data/local" or "system/media" then set permissions to rw-r--r--
Looks like this
[x][x][_]
[x][_][_]
[x][_][_]
x = checked
Then reboot
Just make sure and check the exact location & permissions of ur original bootanimation then replace it with the new 1

Lol PVT 1? 4?
Anyway u can use revolutionary to s-off. Very straight forward and easy. U have to setup ur computer to "speak" with ur phone. Install HTC Sync then uninstall Sync only, leaving the HTC Drivers installed then u have to install the fasboot/hboot driver.

Look here and have a good read, all links to drivers and things ul need there. Just ask if u get stuck

Oh yea sorry PVT 1!!! OK appreciate your help I will try and get back to you if I have any more problems. Also aren't the drivers for unrevoked the same for revolutionary?

Do you want a custom ROM or stock?

You can solve it, if you won't do things you don't know, what it is.
Honestly, you flashed wrong ruu. Look after your Cid and choose the right one

You can't flash an older RUU.
Please explain what you want to achieve.
On htcruu.com you'll find RUUs, you probably want 2.17.707.x or newer.

Ok the whole story is i have unlock bootloader, install CWM and root my HOX, then when i know there is an update, i relock it and update the RUU and wanted to update to JB......
I have flash stock recovery and the firmware (13MB) then after flashing the firmware and restart my phone, it is struck in the white screen
Now my HBoot is 1.36.0000
Radio is 5.125.162.29
So did you flash an RUU?
Not sure why you updated hboot, but now you CM10 won't work, so you will need stock ROM and stock boot.img, which the RUU should have given you.
I have xperia arc lt15i....I have unlocked and rooted it and installed cwm ...then I backed up stock Rom...then tried to install miui 2.11.30fxp147.zip directly without installing kernel IMG throug flashtool...the installation of the zip aborted and says status 7 error.....so i try to restore the backup and it was stuck at formatting system ...so I remove battery...now I can't get into cwm recovery because the phone is stuck at Sony boot logo and blue led is not turning on to get into recovery....what should I do now?
Any help will be appreciated....

Kernel can only be installed via fastboot, our phones are made like they are, so we do not have any other way.
Yes, other phones may have that possibility, SE phones not, due to partitions structure.

Come on man.. Why do that? A simple radio and/or recovery flash will fix this thing. I have experienced this before and fixed this issue.

Without adb to tell what is stopping the device from fully booting we cannot fully tell if its the radio or not. Besides running a ruu will reflash the radio in the process and it will check it to make sure its OK before sending it to the bootloader. Flashing radios is a dangerous game, one bad download is all it takes to kill a phone. And as you said all the user would need to do afterwards is reflash the recovery and their preferred rom I'm not looking to start a flame war here, I'm just saying that a ruu will be easier for inexperienced users. And they will not lose s-off as revolutionary patches the bootloader to ignore all updates.

Hmmm :-\ if I was you I would run ruu, and go completely to stock. Then try letting the phone boot. If that fails boot into bootloader and select factory reset. If that fails then it may well be a hardware issue pal :-\
Tapped out from my sexy nexus 7
How did you flash the radio?
It can be a bit sticky using cwm to flash it, fastboot is the most reliable way, it does sound like a radio problem to me.... Does it boot up without a sim card in, or can you quickly try to turn it to airplane mode before it switches off again? If it stays on then it is most likely a broken radio.
As stated above though an ruu should solve the problem regardless.....
