[Q] Having trouble installing any rom all of a sudden?

First off i want to make known that I have been on may different custom roms & just comming from RCmix 234 2.7.
The other day I tried using cwm to restore a previously saved rom that I had backed up & switched to many times before but I would not work. Then today I tried to go back to a previous version through recovery, which I have done in the past. (I Believe I was having superuser issues)
I have tried multiple different roms & the device keeps getting stuck on the white HTC screen before going to the bootloader screen for the particular rom I am trying to install.
I have even started over again by going back to basics.... PD98img, root, s-off, eng-off, install root checker, & rom manager...... up to this point everything is working but If I try to install either via cwm, or through recovery I keep getting nothing but the White HTC Screen
Any ideas before I attempt to put all back to stock again.... & send in for repair?

Ok Now.... i have been able to restore the old backup I have using recovery, I attempted through rom manager but it would only just opened recovery so I attempted to flash any zip from a new rom...... but why wont it work as it would before? It only freezes on the white htc screen

Anyone know why when trying to flash a new rom that it hangs @ the HTC White Screen?

System Partitions?
Since I all of a sudden cannot reboot after flashing a rom.... does my system partition free space of only 14.8MiB be the cause of why it wont boot fully when asked to re-boot from recovery?
Am I forever stuck with the backup I created weeks ago, its the only rom that goes to the boot img of the rom which is just past the white htc screen.

Well I hope I solved it.... somehow Recovery seems changed to mabey a new version, & it seems that the roms I was using were ext3 roms & I was led to believe I needed the ext4 full wipes which modded my configuration to ext4.
Switched configuration back to ext3 & now roms boot up past the white screen.

i have the same problem with this rom RCMmid3d Bliss i stuck in splash screen..i tried the recoveries 4ext and clockworkmod but at all i stuck there..

I found a fix.... restore your saved rom, assuming you have one.
1) Update cwm to the newest version
2) reboot into recovery & find the format ext3 option & format to ext3
3) Choose whichever rom you like (I went back to RCMIX 3D 234 V2.7) Install
4) Reboot & be rid of that pesky issue

Nice find!

the 3.5 sense roms are temperamental at best to some users right now, though capy of rcmix with his new update seems to be working well just keep in mind its truly a beta still. as for issues with flashing and getting the roms to fully boot is mostly a recovery issue and that only. as long as u r not only wiping all before the flash, but also formatting everything there should be very little to nothing left that could cause any issues at all. i recommend first using ext4 for recovery especially if that is the type of roms u r using. if the rom doesn't format the system to ext4 and u have wiped with cwm recovery u could of reverted back to ext 3 and now your rom is going to loop or lock up for sure. u can always flash new version of ext4 if ur back ups don't restore also, this happenes if a rom manager update is an issue with ext4 and on a few of the old non-final versions. good luck, though u seem to be back up and running already

well it all started when i tried rooting my phone, i used the hack ace tool, followed all the instructions and so far through it froze. after so long i decided to pull the plug and take the battery out... when it restarted it all booted up fine and i did the checks to find somehow it had done it
then downloaded cyanogen 7 and put it on with clockwork recovery is it? when it first installed it just boot looped so took out the battery and it started up fine, i had also made a backup of my stock rom which was a orange branded one. i messed around with it for a while before flicking back and forth between the stock and cyanogen when on cyanogen i think i put back clockwork recovery to an older state. after this it wouldnt access the stock rom files so i couldnt revert back to it, assuming it was the clockwork i tried to uninstall it with titanium but it didnt work and had to restart the phone. after that i tried re rooting hoping it would reinstall clockwork like when i first rooted it.
now my phone boots up to the htc screen and i dont know what to do, could anyone give any help?

dl clockwork 5.0.2.0 and flash in recovery.

you have to do a full wipe be for flashing a completely new ROM, if you go in to hboot then go into recovery, you can do the full wipe pm me if you need extra help

[SOLVED]Boot Loops with three different roms

Hey Guys,
Currently a bit clueless about my new problem.. Wanted to update the rom on my phone and since then, I cant boot into a rom anymore. It will boot, show the lock screen and reboot (over and over again). But if I restore my stock rom via recovery, it works fine... My device is rooted (Unlocked) and otherwise was working great.
Any help is appreciated

Are you flaahing the boot.img through fastboot USB after you flash the ROM?

I'm not a pro here but I had the similar probs and solved them.
First make sure you're using the right kernel files for each rom. Some need the boot.img to be flashed before rom flash.
Also if using UltraSmooth Rosie mods try the SuperSmooth one first as the Ultra smooth option would cause loops too on my device.
If nothing from the above applies:
With clockwork recovery (make sure it's newest version 5.8.4.0) use super swipe off the sd then clear all cache options and reset bat stats.

Desire HD Bricked? Volume Rocker Broken and no HBOOT

I have a rooted Desire HD on which I had MIUI running for the last few months. I was planning to give the phone to my sister and since she wanted the stock rom, i used clockwork rom manager to restore the backup of the stock ROM which I had made prior to flashing MIUI. However, during the restore an error occurred during the restoration of the data. Afterwards when I tried to restart the phone it ends up in a restarting loop.
Since the volume rocker is not working I am unable to start in HBOOT and thus dont know how to flash another ROM. Is the phone bricked ?

Find a RUU for your phone, and flash it via fastboot following this:

Restoring failed in clockmod recovery!!

I am owning a HOX, and i am very pleased with this piece of equipment, so i have decided to try couple of roms, each time i want to change a rom i make a back up copy in case i want to come back.
My clockmod recovery contain:
The sock rom, ViperX 2.1.0, tripndroid cyanogene CM10.
the last rom was tripndroid i like it a lot but i hate the temperature of the phone more than normal, so i switched back to my previous rom(viperX).
Before installing the rom (tripndroid) the clockomod back ups were working i have tried them, but after that it stopped working even the stock rom.
I stuck in the rebooting screen or in the starting menu with capacitor buttons on and everything frozen.
Any suggestion will be appreciated.

Did you flash boot.img everytime you restored a backup?

You have to reflash the boot.img of the rom you want to restore first, then restore. so wipe/factory reset>reboot and erase cache>flash original boot.img that came with the rom you are restoring> then finally restore backup.

i have do exactly what you have said but same thing bootloop in splash screen.
BTW: i am in viperx 2.1.0 but the backup was 2.0.0 ( i have upgrade on OTA) is this ok?

if your phone is S-On you have to flash the boot.img from bootloader with fastboot, dont forget to backup your sd when installing ruu/ota's/relocking/unlocking sometimes they rape your sd blank

Try reflashing ViperX 2.00 after the restore.

After installing a Rom or back up your phone can take some time to boot up just leave it for awial its not froze its just loading be patients
