I want to buy LG optimus G E970 from USA ebay site (my friend can get it to India)
--> cgi(dot)ebay(dot)com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350976364795#shpCntId
Will unlocked LG optimus G E970 work in India, on GSM career ? Is it dual sim, dual standby ?
Please suggest as I need to decide in 1-2 days. Also does anyone have any ebay.com coupons ?
That phone is not dual sim, it is single sim only. It works with the gsm bands 850, 900, 1800 and 1900. For hsdpa it works with 850,1900 and 2100. If any carrier in your country works with those bands then you can use it. I use it in honduras with the850 band for both gsm and hsdpa, phone is working fine.

Thanks for the reply .. I see that bandwidths supported in India are GSM - 900/1800 and HSPA - 2100, which is supported by this cell. I am ok with one sim. What does unlocked mean here ? Also can you please tell if anyone has an ebay.com or some other site coupon (USA) ?
Thanks for your help.

Unlocked means sim unlocked to use with any carrier(which is what you should get), if the phone is sim locked you would have to pay to have it unlocked(the unlock code costs about $5 on ebay. Can't help you with the coupon thing since im not in the US.
Edit: There are some good deals on ebay right now for this phone, yuo can get a used but in god condition fro $150-$190, and new one go from $200 up (plus shipping) which is an awesome deal. This phone gives great bang for buck.

I'm moving to the U.S. (california if that matters) in a couple of weeks and it's time for me to buy a desire. Being from Sweden I'm used to having great 3g service and use it well. What happens if i buy the phone here (not a U.S. specific model) and bring it overseas? Will 3g work? If so, can I choose from any carrier?

No it won't - a European Desire won't give you 3G on any US Network.

it all depends on which carrier you use. I have ATT and I bought my Telstra (made for AUZ) that uses the same band for 3g as ATT does and I get great 3g in SO CAL.
if you buy one in Sweden it will not work on 3g here. You can buy one from US Cellular and it will work here but they don't have that great of coverage. You can buy a EVO from Sprint, but you won't have a sim card.
If you buy a Telstra for the US it will work in Sweden (not sure about 3g) but you will have 3g in US on ATT when you get here. I bought my from here
Thank you, that was helpful information!
Is a Desire using the 850MHz band what I need?

I'm going to Florida on holiday next year. I intended on buying a prepaid sim for my Desire (from Orange, debranded and unlocked). I did intend using 3G if it were available but after reading some of these posts I'm now unsure this will work.
Much appreciated if anyone could give me any advice.
Many thanks.

if you have an EUR desire it will not work on 3g in the US, it has different bands. it will work for Edge. If the phone's bandwidth (networks) don't match the carrier's it does not matter what sim card you have. Most EUR world phone's will work in US but just not on 3g, it must be same bandwidth.
if you must have 3g for your hoilday then you are better buying a prepaid phone, but that won't be a Desire
Thanks for explanation, very helpful.
Hi!
Type *#*#4636#*#* in dial pad, you will get to a screen where some information and hidden settings placed in; then tap on the first item which is "telephone information", and there press "menu" button, here in the android menu the first item is "select radio-band"! when you choose this menu option you will see a list of GSM/UMTS radio-band alternatives; Automatic, EURO, USA, JAPAN, AUS, AUS2 bands"
Well I'm not expert on this particular issue, just wondering what these radio-band options are for(?) Maybe you can change your Desire's radio band to USA band and try if it works in the USA (appreciate if you supply feedback whether or not it really works)

You can't change bands that's hardware related, its cheaper to buy a TELUS desire, it has 850, 1900 bands

Unfortunately when the Telus Desire goes back to Sweden, it won't have 3G.
The US Cellular Desire won't work in Sweden at all since there's no CDMA carrier.
If it weren't so hard now to get a Nexus One I'd suggest that to you. Both version support Euro 3G and you'd use it on AT&T or T-Mobile in the US depending on which version you acquire.
The problem is, as far as I know, there are no tri-band 3G HTC Desires. There is 850/1900 (Telus), 850/2100 (Telstra) and 900/2100 (Euro). So Telstra is the only one that gives you some compromise of 3G on both continents.
On the other hand I'm pretty sure all the GSM North American Samsung Galaxy S phones (Bell Vibrant, AT&T Captivate, T-Mobile Vibrant) support the Euro 2100 band.
Guys, I'm sorry if my questions are stupid but I'm not much into that. I want to know which versions of the Optimus G can be used in Europe.I want to use both gsm and hsdpa. My carrier offers 900/2100mhz 3g connection. Do you know which version can do the job after unlock? I know that the e975 is the version for europe but its 2 times more exspensive than the others e971/973 etc.
I live in Serbia, and I have E975. Don't know about others versions, but I got this one here brand new for 285 euros...

Hi,
as stated on GSMArena website:
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 - E975, E973, E971
3G Network HSDPA 900 / 2100 - E975
HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100 - E973, E971
4G Network LTE 800 / 900 / 1800 / 2100 / 2600 - E975 (market dependent)
LTE 700 / 1700 - E973
LTE 700 / 2600 - E971
I hope this helps.
My e973 worked fine in Poland on T-Mobile. Had fast internet too.
E975 is ok for Europe. don't buy F180,E970,LS970,E971 or 973. Better ask your carrier about it.

The international version costs much more than the others. I have relatives in US and they can buy it for me for around 250$. E975 costs 250€. Thats why I want to know if the other versions will work.

F240 is korean version, E988 is the international version. I suggest you research what LTE bands the phone companies over there use first. .
According to GSM arena these are the bands that work on the E988:
GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 - all versions(2g)
HSDPA 850 / 900 / 2100 - E988 (3G)
LTE 1800 / 2600 - E988

Does the E988 variant also has an extra battery and a charging dock? I don't think they gave it in the international version.. Isn't it?

Correction to my earlier reply. I meant I received the regular wall charger and not the charging dock.

I would be careful as I have an E988 but there is no 4G. On the box it only has 2G and 3G. I think it matters which country the E988 is from as there are different versions (they also have different amounts of storage). Mine is from taiwan by the way.
Hello,
I been looking for the perfect LG G3 Dual Sim model in terms of Specs..
and since i found more than one model.. D856 , D857, D858 and D859
can anyone help me figure out what is are the differences among them ?
thank u
Hi
I've just ordered the D856 which for me (being based in the UK) is the better option considering that includes the LTE 800 band. I know the D858 does not include this band but I'm not entirely sure about the other two variants.

Hi c1181427,
I'm interested in getting a dual sim LG G3, also based in the UK. I'm currently on Vodafone so the D856 would be the ideal version. Can I ask where you ordered your D856 from?
Thanks in advance,

D858HK would work fine on Vodafone as well as it has band 2600 which is LTE+ used by Vodafone UK
Hi.I got mine from a website called from.ae they are based in UAE and the phone was delivered in five days.
Tbh I still haven't worked out the difference between the d856 and d858
One thing I noticed is that on mine there's barely any LG app installed (I think 2) which is surprising coming from a Samsung s4...Not sure if this is standard on LG phones or it's just this version

Hi c1181427,
Thanks for the info, I'll look into it now. Did you have to pay any customs on the phone?
Samsul,
Thanks but I live in Aberdeen, and work just outside the city. The 800mhz frequency already has poor coverage and so I don't even want to think about how little I will see 4G speeds if I am restricted to only the 2600mhz frequency. I'm not actually sure the 2600mhz frequency is in operation here anyway.

Hi guys, I bought a 858HK and it does not have the 800Mhz for 4G in UK
I also got slapped on import duty by £80
so the phone cost me £460
I am willing to sell if anyone wants it
Its a beautiful phone, very fast, the DUAL SIM is essential for work and personal and it comes with some LG apps that are much better than all my previous HTC phones
I've also had to pay £80 import duty but luckily the phone cost me a bit less
I was also hoping to get LTE 800 with my D856 (as advertized in the official LG spec sheet) but nothing...luckily LTE still works with my 3 UK SIM

Not sure if that's the case...
Got one 858HK yesterday, and so far it doesn't want to do 4G on my Vodafone UK SIM even though it does 2600MHz.
Spoken to Vodafone support and the lady who did not have much clue about the subject, could not confirm if vodafone uses both 800 and 2600, she was saying that in the UK it is only 800Mhz for LTE which is a bit odd and doesn't tie up with information provided here:
Code:
http://www.4g.co.uk/4g-frequencies-uk-need-know/
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vodafone_UK
On the wikipedia it says "LTE Advance" any body has an idea what that is?
The other thing is that the phone could be faulty as well. Need to try the EE SIM somewhere as that should be on 1800 and 2600Mhz.......
Edit: Apparently Voda UK does 2.6GHz in big agglomerations such as London, Birmingham, Manchester.... (this is not officially confirmed)
Hi All,
I bought a Spring LG G2 and planning to use my AT&T SIM Card on it. I have gone through lot of threads in this forum (Great info and detailed explanation) and it looks like i can SIM Unlock this Phone and make the AT&T / T-Mobile SIM working with out any Issues.
How ever as the hardware bands are not there it's not possible to get LTE on this Phone with GSM Carriers. (Please correct me if i am wrong). If that's the case why SIM Unlock this phone and use a GSM SIM Card instaed of getting AT&T or T-Mobile version of the same Phone ? (It it because of the price difference ? Sorry for asking this as i am not sure what i am missing here).
Does Spring version of G2 has additional benefits that are not available in GSM version of G2.
Thanks

The sprint verzion supports these bands "GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz" and other umts and lte bands
The unlocked supports these bands "GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz" and other cdma lte umts bands
The difference is you get more bands on the unlocked version. The sprint version is the gsm model and it does support lte. Look up the technical specs on the lg site. look on xda more and see how people fair with lte. if you want to be safe just get an unlocked phone and scrap your sprint model.
Thanks a lot ..
