Hi Guys,
Just wanted to share this with the XDA community. T-Mobile is offering a TP2 for Free w/ New Activation. You have to get Unlimited TXT or Unlimited Data. Yes, I said OR. I and 4 other people I know have gotten Free Rhodiums through this promotion and all of us got Unlimited Txt and NO unlimited Data. You just have to be firm with the representative.

It's been there for months. That's how I got my phone.
(But the price fluctuated between $50 and $0).
Got an email this weekend about a good deal on Galaxy SIII, got it today over the phone with CS.
New TMobile Galaxy SIII for $229.99 (10% discount + waived $35 activation fees) via private channel. New activations, add a line and eligible upgrades. See flyer for promo code and phone # to call. Offer not redeemable online or at the store.
mention website student rate on the phone to redeem the promotion.

I don't mean to thread jack but Wirefly has a really great price as well.
I used Wirefly to get mine for $199.99 tax free with free shipping and the process was VERY seamless. Before finalizing my order through them I even went into the T-Mobile store near me to see if they could match the price or even find anything fishy with the deal that I should be weary of. The salesman looked at his system for a bit and went through the order process on Wirefly with me then said "I'd hate to give business away to another merchant but we can't beat that deal and it looks 100% legit to me. If I were you I would go with that deal also."
So I ordered it through Wirefly right there on the spot. I chose the option to upgrade the phone while keeping my current plan and my phone arrived within 3 days with a final price of $199.99. The salesman even had me return to the store when I received my phone so he could give me a micro sim card for it free of charge.
I was nervous about going this route but I can honestly say that I would do it again in a heartbeat and plan on using them for future upgrades, assuming their prices remain cheaper.

I just called T-Mobile and asked why it was $329 when everybody else had it for $199. She said that it just is. I told her that I'd be buying a Galaxy Nexus straight from Google instead of extending my contract. She then transferred me to the "save" department where they instantly quoted me $186 before shipping and taxes. Ended up paying $211 and some change for express shipping and taxes and had the upgrade or activation fee waived.
I called and asked to be transfered to the "loyalty department" ended up paying 300 but they waived my upgrade and shipping fee AND credited my account 200$. Basically only paid 100 for the device

Sounds like there are all sorts of ways to get the S III for $199 or less with T-Mobile. Just have to be smart about it.
Wow Loyalty Department is awesome. I called them up and spoke to a nice guy about my situation. and Got a hell of a deal for a blue 32Gb GS3. I explained to the gentlemen that my wife wants to move to At&t and being with tmobile for 10 years I didn't really want to go but a friend of hers would hook us up with gs3 phones for $150 each and lower a monthly. The customer service was eager to help out to keep us with tmobile. after a few minutes on hold he came back with offering me a blue 32gb SGS3 for $120 and waving the over night charge plus saving me $50 on my monthly bill. also one of my phone are able to still upgrade next month. I'll save that for the next big thing in a few months. I love tmo. they know how to keep me as a valued customer. at the end of the phone call I asked him how soon will I have my new 32GB GS3. he said I should have it tomorrow when I get to work.
I should change my signature now... so happy

Yea t-mobiles been great to me. I have five lines and the next set of full up grades is dec and feb. Well i called tmobile told them to transfer me to customer loyalty. And after a bit of talking with the women ( sounded hot so hot) she said i will give u the s3 for 360 and also got the 50 dollar mail in rebate which is cool so actually paid 310 for phone and it was at my house in 3 days. She just said i see u are a valued customer with 5 lines and always pay your bill sir we want you ro stay . Anyways im happy customer...also even tho she called it an upgrade she said it will not affect my actual upgrade i think because i extended my contract. But thats cool cuz i have been with tmobile forever anyways. So when december comes around i can get whatever is badass at that time

I think it depends how long you have been with them plus if you pay your bill on time every month and stuff. Little variables cam change the price drastically. Just a thought?

When you guys upgraded via retentions, did they make you change your current data plan? I have the grandfathered 5 GB $30 data plan and I don't want to lose it. When I upgrade online it doesn't make me change it but obviously it's a lot more expensive.

I was in the same situation. Heidi gave me $5 off my data price per month. I asked her several times if my 5gb status would change and she assured me it would not. Ask nicely.
I am planning on switching to T-Mobile and I did some research to try and find the best deal possible since I am going to get into a new 2 year contract. I am a college student attending the University of Ohio and my university doesn't have a direct relationship with the school. I found a discount via the T-Mobile Advantage program and I attached the flyer here.
You get
A $50 account credit with a new activation (expires on 12/31)
Waived activation fees
10% discount
You have to call CS to activate I am not sure whether you can do it online. There is a promo code in the flyer which you have to mention. That discount is also affiliated with the student discount website Student rate. I am not sure whether you actually have to be a student or not.
Has anyone used this discount before??
Well with everything make sure you read the fine print, always little things to reduced the discounts you're getting. You sure you want tmobile they are not definitely not the best company in terms of customer service and business model. Anywho you should definitely check out best buy, they usually have really good deals on phone.
Right now they have the s3 for 179.99 way cheaper than what you would get it at tmobile around 300 or so. Make sure you call them because for some reason tmobile doesn't allow in store pickup(****ty business model). Also I don't know how all that works when you starting off, I was just upgrading good luck.

Examine if you really need to enter a 2-year contract.
Look at the Montly 4G plans. What are your needs - how many minutes and how much data do you need ?
I went with the 100minute/unlimited texting/5Gb plan for $30/mo. Even buying the phone up-front I'm saving a great deal over locking myself into a contract - a contract that wouldn't even give me what I actually wanted.
I made the mistake of going contract with Sprint on my first phone off of my family's the family plan. Overpaid for service I barely used. I don't see myself going back to contract plans - you overpay in the long-run - much more than if you just bought the phone and then paid a lower rate for the service instead of the hidden fee of paying them back for that "free" or "reduced cost" phone.
For instance, if I went with Verizon and paid $80/mo for their cheapest smartphone plan, that's $1200 more over two years than I'm paying now. Take away the $450 I spent on the phone - that's still $750. I could literally buy a brand new phone with THAT, even and two great-condition used ones. Maybe I'm a cynical jerk, but carrier subsidising is just a way to trick you into paying more money.

It really is for most cases. Just some people like to aim high and go for an s3 and not everyone has 700 upfront to pay a company. While you end up paying more in a contract most people get paid every 2 to 4 weeks and are satisfied paying a fee monthly and two years is not very long. After the two years you can always take that phone you bought and get into those no contact based companies like metro etc.

I declined it, and then she said for being a "loyal customer" she can give me 2.5gb of Hotspot for the same price that I pay now with unlimited data.. so instead of me getting the half a gig of Hotspot data every month, I now get 2.5gigs.. and my bill stay the same..
I'm not sure if anyone else knew this or not.. so if not.. yall should call and see if you can get it also..

There is no contract with T-Mobile. The only time you're under "contract" is until your phone is paid off. If you already paid your phone off or brought it to them there's no "contract". It is their new plan and you have to sign up for it if you were an existing customer.

Not true. They offered me to switch to another classic plan. The ones with the 2.5gb, 4.5gb, 6.5g etc plans. No migration fee, came with hotspot, AND another 2 year commitment.
So YES, people can still sign contracts, I know, it doesn't make sense to me either.
They wanted to do the same thing to me when I got my Note 3, but I'm on the actually unlimited data plan and didn't want to give that up. I don't usually use too much data but when I need it I need it.

Not true, the only way you can still get a T-Mobile contract is if you opt into it as a small business customer, or if you go through an authorized dealer like Walmart, which I don't even think Walmart does. If you are in a contract when you upgrade, you are only required to finish out your existing contract. If you are paying your phone off with an EIP (Equipment Installment Plan) you are only required to pay off the existing balance of the phone (if applicable) if you decide to leave.
In store we use the 2.5gb of free hotspot as a selling point, you get it regardless provided you move to the Simple Choice (Post-Paid) plans from any of the older plans, and have either 2.5gb or fully UNL plan.

Wrong. You can still extend with a classic plan. No migration fee but another 2 year commitment.
When I was in the store getting my Note they checked my plan and the sales associate did mention that my current plan was still cheaper than what they were offering. I don't use that many minutes so I don't need the extra minutes. I was on the 2.5gb plan that throttles speeds after that and when my wife joined my plan we switched to the Unlimited high speed plan with 1000 shared minutes almost 2 years ago. So a similar current plan is $120 before taxes and fees for my wife and myself. Not bad in comparison to other providers but still not as good and the only benefit is extra minutes we won't use and 2.5gb of tether which I rarely use as it is. We pay right under $100 a month right now
Nope, Uh Uh, Nada

Show me something that says you're on a contract! You can't because there are no contracts!
So she wanted to you to pay an extra $10 for something everyone was getting free? LMAO!

T-Mobile still has fully unlimited plans. They are actually cheaper now, and come with 2.5GB of hotspot usage. If anyone here wants to know anything about the plans and what changes and what doesn't let me know. I work in a corporate retail location, so if anyone has any questions I would be more than happy to answer or find the answer.

Chiming in with the 3rd not true. You can get individual classic contract plans at Costco. No need for small business/corporate accounts.
Hey everyone,
Thought I will pass along some good news, maybe someone else can benefit as well. This is related to the post paid service with t-mobile. I am not sure if it is a great deal, but passing it along either way.
Background:
I had recently purchased a T-mobile prepaid sim card via Walmart. This has unlimited data (5Gb limit) and unlimited text and 100 mins talk time for $30/month. So you do have to recharge it for $30 min per month to keep the unlimited part. Benefit is I can make all the calls I want through grooveip or any other ip services which uses the data and not the minutes. I called the customer service to ask if they have the tmobile to tmobile free calls on the pre-paid plan. This was their general customer service line and I asked them to transfer me to the prepaid department. Before they transferred me over, they asked if its ok to check my account. Usually this is when they pitch additional data or services to sign you up for more, either way I was stuck in traffic and I thought why not. I am glad that I said yes now.
Free part:
The rep checked and said since I have been a loyal customer (this was his words, been with them for 9+ years now) I am eligible for some upgrades on my account (i have 5 lines, 1000 min, unlimited text and 3 lines with data). I had 5Gb with tethering on my line for $30, this was upgraded to 9Gb with 9Gb tethering for the same price. Another line had 2Gb for $10, this was upgraded to truly unlimited for the same price. The third line had 200Mb for $5, this was upgraded to 5Gb for the same price. I didn't ask him why mine was $30 and not less because I didn't want to sound greedy and also assumed it was because I have tethering. Either way, I am happy camper. This along with the free 1.2 Gb data for tablet that i recently signed up for makes me more than happy.
Try your luck folks. I believe this offer is tied to the loyalty program and their "bridge to value" plan deals.:laugh::laugh:

I'm confused, why did you buy a prepaid sim if you have 5 lines and what does one account have to do with the other? The only plains offered now are Simple Choice plans so I'm thinking that's what you have now.

Yes, I can explain. Like I said before, I am not sure if this is a big deal. It was for me and I am hoping others who are in the same page like me can maybe call and get the benefits. It gave me more data for no additional money. I constantly see posts regarding mods for tethering and removing tethering cap etc., thought this way they can just get the feature with no additional money and avoid all the hassle with bypassing the system.
Tmobile does not allow more than 5 lines on one account like other providers. This prevents me from adding another line to my account and get all the grandfathered benefits I am getting. I am paying about $140 including tax with 5 lines and all the features mentioned earlier. The cheapest plan I could find under post-paid is their simple choice for $50+tax with 1Gb data. Data and text is more important for me as I am giving this to my family member who doesn't need a lot of talk time (yes, teen). To get a 5Gb data plan, Ill be paying $70+tax. Now you know why I got the pre-paid option from Walmart. This will give 5Gb data and unlimited text and 100 min talk for just $30, this is final amount which includes tax. Almost $40+ cheaper than the equivalent.
I got the benefits because my plan is grandfathered and not the simple choice. Those who are grandfathered and not willing to move are categorized as "bridge to value" plan. This way I get the benefits from both.
You basically used to have either the value family plan with 1000 mins, or Classic 1000 min plan and with those plans it makes it cheaper for you to do upgrades on an equipment installment plan (EIP) and used your savings in switching plans to upgrade your services good deal for you because you pay the same, and good for him because he just got commission on the change over. As far as the 1.2 GB of free data on your tablet its free until January 2nd of 2015, and after that it's $10 after your $10 discount for having a post paid line with T-Mobile. If you want to stay free after January 2nd you would want to switch to the free 200mb plan.
