finally found a fix for imei repair for note 2 gt-n7100 and thought id share hopefully it helps someone out
first a bit of background about phone and error
- Phone is a n7100 international version i'm guessing its originally from el salvador since thats were i'm located and a customer brought in phone. The customer stated someone attempted to unlock the phone and damaged imei and had left the phone stuck in a boot loop.
- Going through recovery and factory reseting would not work.
- Unable to find original firmware for any carrier from here i used mexico telcel 4.3 official to flash to stock usin odin v3.09
- The flash worked perfectly and wifi blue tooth and just about everything worked perfectly except imei showed 004999010640000
- i attempted to unlock phone with z3x since it has autoroot for this model but no luck i kept getting error coode 0001
- Various places i read online mentioned that to root n7100 on 4.3 phone had to be factory unlock so i searched and searched and found root files for n7100 that made no mention of phone being unlocked, i did this with odin 1.85 verison and proper root file
- i successfully rooted phone
- after i unlocked using z3x v16.8 tool
- after unlocking phone i attempted to repair imei with z3x but was unable to for some reason i had to re-root phone with odin 1.85
- after resinstalling root i did imei repair with z3x box and results were positive. the imei was repaired and im able to make and receive calls aswell as use data plan, here is the proof with pictures

i'm assuming that because at the time of reading the phone info the imei and possibly other folders were damaged, Once processed finished i didn't bother to re read info with box because the process work. also it was a customer phone so i no longer have access to it.
for people interested in purchasing z3x samsung box, theres plenty of links on ebay and various sites.
For repair shops hobbist it works great and well worth investment. my z3x box has easily paid for itself 20x over.
Problems installing DM+MODEM+ADB drivers
Model GT-N7100
rooted with CF-Auto-Root-t03g-t03gxx-gtn7100.tar.md5
hello just a few question since I'm having a few problems fixing the IMEI with two Boxes with Z3X and NS Pro both of the boxes don't detect the phone
phone has been rooted successfully, phone is on 4.3, I got Kies installed in my computer drivers to read my SD card installed successfully (MTP+ADB) but when I chose DM+MODEM+ADB and connect the phone to the computer the drivers don't install it just keeps telling me USB Device not recognize I tried it with 3 laptops with the same results the 3rd computer never even had the Box installed all computer give me same error under usb controller I got unknown device I already uninstall and install from there too and no luck
and this is where my problems lies no DM+MODEM+ADB drivers no device detected by boxes any one ever had this problem before and know how to fix it any ideas?
try flashing the phone with a different 4.3 firmware and root using vroot
also theres no need to put phone in dm modem adb, i just enabled usb debugging and unknown sources
possible you havent installed the z3x box right it took me a few tires to be able to read phones by chance have you tried reading other models???

Need Help with EMEI restoration.
Hi Renovo,
I had a tough time trying to fix my Note2 which died on me yesterday. It was giving me the "EFS mount" error.
I spent the whole day flashing custom as well as stock ROMS and and finally found that I can flash the EFS repair file(n7100_odin_efs.tar) with odin. But this has now created the EMEI problem you mentioned below. I am trying to fix that but not sure how to do it.
Would you be kind enough to walk me through step by step??
Also do I need any special hardware for this??
My GTN7100 was bought in India.
I had flashed the UK version of the stock ROm on it.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
Sandesh

I'm assuming you unlocked it -- or tried to -- originally. If so, what method did you use? Give us all the details as to when this started happening. Did you buy the phone brand new, prior to this?

I bought it unlocked on E-bay.. I believe the seller unlocked using an unlock code. The seller also emailed the code to me later on.
The phone used to lose network and show null imei after sometime of use and would start working again after a restart and removing and reinserting the battery. The up-time was better on some roms, but now doesnt work on any rom.

Note 2 GT-N7100 - No service
I will borrow this thread as I have the same issue.
Hello, friends.
I have a interesting problem and would like to ask you experts for help. I know this is a thread for GS3, but the problem is similar for my Note 2.
BACKGROUND:
I have Galaxy Note 2 N7100 which was working fine for a year and then suddenly died of SDS. I returned it to official service for repair where they said they replaced the chip (i am guessing they replaced the whole motherboard). When I got it back everything was working fine except when I inserted my SIM card phone had no service.
I went back to repair service and after few days they said they don't know what is the problem and how to solve it and I can get another N7100 in around two weeks. At that time I was developing Android App, so I managed to get the broken Note 2 back for developing. Eventually I got a new, working N7105 and they also let me keep the old, broken one.
I would like to get the broken Note 2 working again, as I believe it could be fixed, or at least I could try.
PROBLEM:
After motherboard replacement (because SDS), phone has No service. Phone appears (*#06#) to have a valid IMEI number (3536270500*****) BUT it is a bit different than on the sticker under battery (last 6 numbers are different, * chars). Serial number is also different.
I am guessing it changed with motherboard replacement? Could this be the problem?
Sometimes it shows that the phone has signal and has connected the right service provider, but it is just for a short while. When there is no SIM card, phone has No SIM icon, but shows signal bar, which appears to be working for Emergency calls only.
Phone was never rooted or flashed before SDS happened, so I don't have original EFS backup before motherboard replacement. First thing I did now, was Root, EFS backup and ROM(4.1.2) backup.
PHONE INFO:
Model: Samsung Galaxy Note 2, GT-N7100
Device Type: t03g
Product name: t03gxx
Phone is unlocked and unbranded (at least it was before SDS).
Currently it has [ROM][4.3]N7100XXUEMK9 DeOdexed & Zipaligned installed.
PDA version: N7100XXUEMK9
Baseband version: N7100XXUEMJ9
Bootloader version: N7100XXDME6
CSC version: N/A, but under CSC info it says Sales code: XTC - which I believe is Philippines. I am from Slovenia, Europe.
IMEI: 3536270500xxxxx (www.imei.info says it is valid)
IMEI on the sticker: 3536270501xxxxx has last 6 digits different
S/N: R31C80xxxxx
S/N on sticker: R31C90xxxxx
WHAT I ALREADY DID:
Phone had Stock 4.1.2 ROM installed.
I rooted the phone, did EFS Backup, entire ROM backup with cwm ROM Manager.
Excluded SIM card issue. My SIM card is working in other phones. I also tried other SIM cards in my N7100 and they all have no service.
Tried flashing different modems on 4.1.2 Stock ROM.
Tried Ariza Patch.
I flashed it to [ROM][4.3]N7100XXUEML6 PreRooted, DeOdexed, Zipaligned & KNOX Free
I flashed it to [ROM][4.3]N7100XXUEMK9 DeOdexed & Zipaligned - Current ROM. Because UEMK9 is installed on my working N7105
Tried flashing different modems on 4.3 ROM.
Tried deleting EFS folder to rebuild itself with generic IMEI (0049..). In that case it shows as connected to network every 10 seconds for about 5 seconds and then disconnects. Then copying old nv_data.bin to new EFS. It didn't work so I restored EFS.
I tried other stuff and did a lot of search but I am also quite new to all this rooting and flashing stuff. So if you guys have any suggestions that I could try (even if I already did it) please, do suggest and I will try. If you need any additional info, please ask and I will gladly post it.
I attached some pictures with SIM card inserted and without SIM card.
Hi,
After several days trying to unlock my phone and getting it bricked I finally managed to have it in a working condition and unlocked! I'm not sure if what I did unlocked it, but at least it's rooted and in working conditions.
So I decided to share my story and all the steps that I took to fix it. I would have written just the steps but somebody might find specific parts of the story useful.
Original Equipment and Status:
Phone: Samsung Galaxy S3 SGH-I747M (LTE version)
Carrier: Telcel
Country: Mexico
Original Stock OS: 4.1.1
Last working OS: Cyanogenmod 11 Nightly 20141221
Backstory
I'm having a roadtrip that will take a couple of weeks and I got a TMobile SIM to use during my trip through USA and Canada, however my phone was locked to Telcel.
CM brought me some couple of issues with the modem and network selection and as I live right next to the border and cross it every week or so, I was having a hard time switching between carriers and international roaming so I have to upgrade the modem to the latest one (From I747MUMBLL1 to I747MUMUEND3) and for some time I was able to select network operators but still it was locked.
No USSD / Unlock Code Fail
I found on the web there is a way to unlock SG3 for free through the hidden menu, but it didn't work for me but found out USSD codes no longer work in 4.3 so I restored the stock ROM for 4.1.1 (I have no idea how I managed to do this, but got it downgraded) I was able to get to the hidden menu and followed this instructions but I kept using multiple modem versions that aren't for JB the hidden menu didn't gave the option to generate the nv_date file. I think this was due the use of newer modem versions that didn't have the option to initialize the file.
Next attempt was to purchase SIM unlock codes without success, the providers I attempted were TheUnlockingCompany and CellUnlocker, neither of them were able to get me a code to unlock the phone
Also attempted to modify the NV_DATA file but well, it didn't exist in the /efs folder, there were other files but nothing related nv_data.bin. So I really needed to have that file to unlock it but no success in initializing it.
Third-party local unlock dealer
As all the attempts previously failed I needed to have my phone unlocked and was running out of time. So I took it to a local dealer who has more experience unlocking phones. This part I don't have all the info in whatever he did, all I know is that he was unable to work with CM and attempted to unlock it with a brasilian stock firmware, which got it bricked and it was getting more difficult to unlock it.
AFAIK I did have the old bootloader, but his attempts included upgrading the bootloader which includes KNOX and any attempt to restore old rom versions gave me the error SW REV CHECK FAIL : Fused 1 > Binary 0 therefore it was impossible now to get back to stock 4.1.1 and attempt the older modem versions which at this stage found out could have solved the original unlock issue but .... too late.
His attempt with the brasilian stock ROM got the phone bricked and now instead of trying to unlock it I was trying to revive the phone, all my attempts in bypassing KNOX and downgrading the bootloader failed - also attempted to get back to 4.2 and 4.3 through CM 10.1, 10.2 and stock 4.1.1 but bootloader was too recent which prevented me to use those CM versions.
I was able to get it unbricked using CF-AUTO-ROOT - this is a life saver at least to be able to boot the phone, everytime I get a bricked status just by flashing this allowed to boot.
Phone kinda working: NO IMEI NOR ESN
Finally I decided to restore but directly to 4.3 stock for my original provider Telcel. The phone works now... kinda. It boots and gets signal, but NO DATA. I just found out IMEI/ESN information got lost and I didn't have any backup, yes I know I should have but whatever I was doing at least was not touching that information, but this other guy got it messed up.
One interesting thing is that even though there was no IMEI information, but original SIM card works to send/receive calls and SMS. Data doesn't work, but at least calls and SMS does.
Phone included KNOX and was preventing me to use the previously mentioned tool CF-AUTO-ROOT and found this tutorial: http://forums.androidcentral.com/samsung-safe-knox/352922-sprint-galaxy-s3-possible-knox-fix-cf-autoroot.html - this actually works but didn't give me the option to remove KNOX.
THe problem now is that any attempt to use SuperSU through USB debugging was blocked by KNOX but apps opened directly from the phone weren't, with this I installed CWR right away and TitaniumBackup, this last one allowed me to uninstall any KNOX crap. Rebooted the phone and no more issues whatsover in root usage.
As I only have 1 remaining day to have this phone in working conditions and it's christmas today I went on in trying to rebuild my IMEI.
Rebuild IMEI WITHOUT BACKUP
After lot of research and no friends which the same phone that could give their nv_data files, I found out THIS guide (again USSD codes not working so I used EFS Pro to switch USB modes) and basically this is what I did:
Download EFS Professional - Epic tool to work IMEI/ESN info and switch USB mode between MTP+ADB and DEV+MODEM+ADB
Download QPST version 2.7 build 323 NOTE: USE THIS VERSION, NEWER VERSIONS DO NOT INCLUDE RF NV Item Manager
Follow the instructions in the previously mentioned guide, but the USB you can switch it from EFS Pro under Samsung Tools.
It is really important to notice the IMEI number needs to be entered with the HEX checkbox enabled and in reverse.
You probably could do this straight from EFS Professional -> Qualcomm Tools, but this worked for me.
At the end of the guide there was no confirmation or any message the NV information was written successfully, so I just rebooted my phone and success! IMEI is back!
Just to test I tested my T-Mobile SIM and it works! - I'm not sure if this unlocked the phone or whatever the other guy did, but well the phone now accepts any SIM.
No Data / Stuck on EDGE
Now that the phone has the IMEI number and is unlocked I found out DATA still was not working.
I used the tools ESN, MEID and EUIMID Calculator to generate the rest of the missing information which was ESN and MEID. I entered this information in EFS Pro -> Qualcomm NV Tools, checked the boxes and clicked on write making sure the select box next to it was set to Phone.
Rebooted my phone and yes the information was there, however STILL NO DATA.
I came across this life savior - Load this file with NV Item Reader/Writer Some people on the thread say even their already working LTE data achieved better speeds with this.
Rebooted my phone and wallah! DATA and LTE are back! AND UNLOCKED!
What did I learn from all of this? DAMN KNOX and ALWAYS ALWAYS backup /EFS or whatever IMEI/ESN/MEID info is, even if you plan to use custom roms or not, or unlock the phone.

I just bought samsung s9 SM-G960U but can't it won't update to android 9.0 manually ! it says processing failed
I did some researches I found that it's carrier-related . Some solutions suggests that I use odin to update but I can't choose the right firmware !
In fact :
- when I try to check the csc using *#1234# it show g960usqu2are6 ( I think it's Verizon using google)
- when I log on into samsung website and enter my imei . The product info shows that my carrier type is Sprint
- when I check "about phone/service Provider SW " on my phone the first line contains TMB after G960U and the third line is TGY/TGY/TGY
I'm confused but I want to update my s9 to android 9.0 . Help me

get the firmware here
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s9/SM-G960U/VZW/download/G960USQU4CSC7/265795/
get the most recent version of Odin (i didnt source you a link for that)
open Odin on your computer
unzip the package and get your phone into download mode, connecting it to your computer. Allow drivers to install and when Odin recognizes your device by showing a random number in the port field. Then place the files in their corresponding spots in Odin paying attention to which CSC file you use as one factory resets the phone and the other simply applies the update. It is recommended to use the factory reset CSC when changing from different iterations of the Android OS. Press the start button, allow it to full run the firmware push. It will then automagically reboot (yes, automagically), and youre done.

Once a phone is unlocked, it stays that way forever. Firmware has nothing to do with a phone's locked or unlock status.

Depends how it was unlocked, seen a few members flash new firmware and the phone is SIM locked again, these unlock companies must use some modification to the firmware rather than unlocking it properly

Good to know. Wasn't aware that a phone could be unlocked with firmware alone. I guess it's a temporary overlay or something that "fakes" being unlocked?

Yea must be something that emulates the unlock somehow but once reset or flashed it's gone, always seems to be people who have bought the phone second hand unlocked, it has worked fine with their sim until they reset or flash different firmware, then it's locked again
No network on device after firmware update

sorry, i should have worded that differently. I didnt need the IMEI, just the fact that the IMEI is what came up and that a valid IMEI shows

i havent tried this method, but i did stumble across this
Boot your Samsung Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9 Plus
Activate then access the USB debugging mode
Sync your Samsung Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9 Plus to your desktop PC
Download this: EFS Restorer Express
Access the application and then open the EFS-BACK.BAT file
Choose a method in order to recover the EFS via Odin

Hello
I bought a used s9 a few months back. It had dual sim. In "about phone" it said G960F and was on android 9. A few days ago, I wanted to flash android 10 so I downloaded firmware for G960F, booted my phone in download mode and SURPRISE. The whole thing was in Korean and of course it was a G960N model. So I downloaded firmware for G960N this time and flashed it. Everything went perfect but when the phone booted up, It had no sim service.
I've tried everything I've found on the forums so far related to emergency calls only or no sim service.
Any kind of help would be appreciated. I have no sim service for 5 days now.
Things I've tried so far:
Flashing my phone again with android 9 stock firmware, which I can't do anymore as I've updated the bootloader lol.
Flashing custom roms
Changing csc from SKC to KOO
Flashing OXM CSC as I live in Pakistan
Flashing different modems and basebands
Nothing worked
Try flashing back a G960F android 10 firmware.

So skipping each part just give an error concerning the next part?

Done all of that. No luck
OK, let's go back to beginning: you've bought the used phone. 960F never was (as factory leaving) dual sim phone.
so, let's start from the beginning:
contact the seller and ask what the hell have you bought (if it was any variant of the S9 at all.. somehow I doubt it).
2nd: write down the IMEI and serial number, and check with Samsung if this configuration ever existed (if not, what I suppose, the IMEI/sn info about the REAL model can give you a hint what have you bought).
Having the above info in hands, find the "service firmware", 5 files ROM for your device and try to flash it.
If it will not work still, I'm afraid you have two options:
1. check IMEI against stolen devices with your carrier.
2. Go to Samsung service asking for help.

Well mostly it isn't a fake mediatek phone as it will not even have a download mode.
Probably he bought a shi**ily refurbished phone with it's internals mixed from multiple versions of the s9, in the best case.(a Frankenstein variant of the S9)

I'm going to solve this mystery for both of you. The phone he bought is indeed an S9. Here in Pakistan, 'software' guys in shops can convert these to dual sim models with some z3x and Chimera f*kery.
As for why his phone isn't working - it is because the phone had a tampered IMEI to bypass local custom charges levied on all imported phones (insane charges, doubles the price of these kinda phones). Once he flashed a new image on his phone, his IMEI status would have become NG instead of OK, which prevents the phone from accessing any networks.
Solution is to visit the same 'software' guys, ask them to 'patch' the phone. It is a 5 minute process, requires root (which these phones already have).
