[Q] Changing the default voicemail number to my Google Voice number - LG Optimus G Pro

I have successfully setup my Google Voice on my new LG E980 and the voicemail features all seem to work. But the Voicemail button and slot 1 speeddial still dials the AT&T number.
I have entered in the correct **004* code in the phone with my voicemail number and when I go to the voicemail settings, it says that I am currently using Google voice and in the setup menu it shows my GV number. When I select the number, it doesn't take me to the dialog to change it though, it just flashes "Accessesing voicemail settings" and then takes me back to the main voicemail settings screen. It does show my correct GV number though as my VM number.
I have done a complete reset on the voicemail back to att and disabled my GV account, re-added the number and phone, entered in the code as given by google. Didn't work. Then entered the code with my GV number, and it still doesn't work.
Is there anyway to change the default VM number in the phone? I think its odd that the settings shows my GV number, but the speeddial and dedicated VM button still call my AT&T number.
*The phone is not rooted or modified from stock in any way.

Yes. It's broken in stock. But it's fixable.
Open phone
Tap menu key
Call Settings
Additional Settings (at the bottom)
Call Forwarding
Change all the numbers to your Google voice number in full format. e.g. +1 555 555 5555

Sry I may have misunderstood. Voicemail is a speed dial. Just change it over to your gv number.

[Q] Google Voice/ FDN/ PIN2 Question

I'm setting up Google Voice and saw that there is a fixed dial number (FDN) setting.
My questions are :
1) Will this option make it so GV's access number is the same on every call?
2) it asks for a PIN2 number. I tried 1234 and 0000 and neither worked. Tmo is stumped. I did not set a number. Does anyone know another possible default code?
Any help would be appreciated, thank you.
FDN restricts outgoing calls to only the numbers on a pre determined list. See en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fixed_Dialing_Number for more information.
This will not affect google voice, since when you make a google voice call it is an incoming, not an outgoing call from your phone. If I remember correctly, there is a setting on the google voice page to control how your calls appear on caller id (random number or GV number)
If you want to use FDN, the default PIN2 is 5678, keep in mind that t-mobile does not support the use of this feature, so if you lock yourself out they may not be able to help you.

Thanks for the reply. Is there anyway to have GV use a fixed access number. I use the myfaves paln to get free unlimited incoming/outoging calls. But when gv changes acess numbers and I don't catch it fast enough, I get charged.
As far as I am aware (from my knowledge of using google voice and from searching) there is not a way to prevent the access numbers from changing.
If you want to use one number for all your calls, you can start by calling your own GV number and selecting option 2 (place a call) from the main menu.

[Q] Voicemail Issue

Hey there. On my Droid Incredible 2, when I turn it on, I always get a "New Voicemail" notification. When I press on it or dial *86, it dials my Google Voice number. It still does this even after disabling call forwarding from google.voice.com to my phone, and uninstalling the Google Voice app on my phone. So basically, it calls my GV number so the voicemail on my Verizon number is still there and the notification wont disappear unless I press "clear." Will I have to wipe everything and reinstall the ROM? I'm using CM7 (still does it on any kernel), and I'd rather not wipe as I have everything as I like it.
Dial your Verizon number, hit # enter code and # . Sounds like you have Verizon voicemails needing cleared.

HELP: Call Settings for Voicemail Non-existing - Can't setup GV or Youmail!!

Hi all, I'm completely new to Android and SG2 but I've spent the past week messing with it. I've got it rooted and everything already.
I'm having one MAJOR problem and can't seem to find a fix. I've read and searched through the forum exhaustively but haven't seen any mention of it. Forgive me if this is a complete Noob question.
So, I'm trying to use Google Voice Lite (i.e. NOT the full integration.) so that I can have that as my default voicemail rather than Sprint. I do NOT want to use Sprint Visual Voicemail but that seems like the default installed program. The problem it seems like though is that Sprint VVM as default affects the "Call Settings" menu. When I go through the Google Voice setup process, at the screen where I press "configure" to continue, the following screen takes me to Call settings and stops. Now the problem is that the Call Settings screen does NOT seem to show ALL the call settings menu items that would allow me to choose which voicemail option (Carrier or GV or something else) I want. And the "voicemail settings" at the bottom is for the default Sprint VVM.
I'm attaching several pics to show what I'm seeing and also 1 pic that shows what the "call settings" screen should look like.
So how do I get around this? How do I see the rest of the call settings menu items? I can't use/setup Google Voice voicemail or Youmail with out it. PLEASE PLEASE Help. Would greatly appreciate any thoughts or feedback. Thanks
As a reference point, I'm using Caulkin E4GT EL29 GB 3.0 Rom if that helps
There's very few gv settings you can set from the phone. Use the website. It looks like you have everything set properly on the phone. Don't forget to turn off call screening.

Yeah I seem to have everything correct and I have gone thru the GV website and everything there is fine. The problem is that the "Call Settings" screen on my phone is not showing the correct options to select whether I want to use my carrier vm system or something else. Basically my screenshot 1 or 2 should look like screenshot 4. Otherwise, I can't even complete GV setup on my phone
I usually don't get that screen either. Try dialing into your voicemail by long pressing 1 and see if it says Google or sprint to see if it actually is taking it
Make sure you have authorized your number on googles website. It should call your phone and ask you to enter a pin number
On the setup VM screen did you dial the number? It changes the default call forwarding number from the sprint vvm number to your Google voice number.

I have dialing the voicemail manually and its still set to Sprint voicemail. And yeah I have my mobile # authorized on GV website. I've been using GV for a while on my previous phone...didn't have an Android phone so couldn't use the app. Its just now that I got the GS2 that when I try to setup through the GV app, I'm having problem. It seems like something is making the Call settings menu not show everything. Is there a way to edit it? Where would the files be located?
@slvrap1 - Yes, I dialed the number given on the GV app set (as seen in the pic). It rings, answers briefly and then hangs up. I press the back button to get out of the dialer, press the "configure" button to continue but when I get to the call settings menu, I don't have the options to actually change voicemail option ("carrier" or other) as I should b able to. I'm just completely stumped on this. It seems like I'm doing everything correct both on the phone side and GV website...but just that one settings page that is the problem
There isn't a menu or option on the phone itself that will say you are using sprint or Google voicemail. Sounds to me like your getting hung up on looking for some kind of visual confirmation. If it was set up prior to getting the s2 on the same telephone number then everything should still be intact.

During the setup if you didn't hear a error message when it dialed *28xxxxxxxxx, the x's being your Google voice number its complete. Did you try leaving yourself a VM?

Hey @slvrap1, so I FINALLY got it working. I had done all those things you had mentioned but you're right, I was stuck expecting a visual confirmation because in the setup guide and everywhere else I was looking, my call settings menu options on my phone were different and didn't match what everyone was saying. I had tried calling myself multiple times last night and it would just ring ring ring ring endlessly but never hit voicemail. So I basically just gave up for the night and then today decided to try calling myself again and BAM, the Google Voicemail greeting came on. For whatever reason I guess it took a while for it to take effect.
And Basically what it appears is that there is a bug on my ROM or something that prevents the "call settings" menu options to display the proper option but I guess in the end, it didn't really matter whether I had those call settings options available on my phone, as long as I dialed the *28 to activate.
Thanks a lot for all your help and suggestions. Guess there's a lot of quirks about Android I need to learn esp coming from iOS
This probably is obviously not the write forum for that but as familiarize myself w/the system, any list of apps you would recommend?

Oh and FYI, when I try to do a long 1 press on my phone, it still takes me to my Sprint voicemail account. Not sure that really means anything

Google Voice

I just bought my T999 two days ago, and am just getting a feel for this phone. I've not rooted it yet, and may not for a bit. I haven't decided.
I have rooted several other phones, so I'm comfortable with that process. I just want to get a feel for a few weeks, and even see when/if 4.1 gets officially released in the short-term.
That said, I've been using GV since it came out; really before it was officially released. I load it on my phone, and when I go to configure the voicemail, it fails. I've called TMO tech support, and of course they don't want to touch this.
Any thoughts on this? Is there truly an incompatibility with GV on the T999 as the TMO rep told me? I've searched the Apps forum, and could not find anything remotely related to this issue.

From the dialer screen, hit menĂº, go to call settings, scroll down to voice mail service and try it that way, I had the same issue

I tried that, and the calls are still being routed to the carrier voice mail. New messages are not routing to Google Voice.
Dangit!
Settlement it up online. It will have you enter codes and such.

Not following. I go to the settings within my Google account on my PC, and I can't see anything that requires codes to be added.

You have to go to Google voice settings Not just your Google settings. It walks you thru on setting up new/different phone number

If you are on T-mo prepay, they don't support conditional forwarding. However any t-mo number can get to a tech support (call a few times if need to) and they can just change your voicemail number in the system to your GV number.
Alternatively you can follow GSM codes and Google Voice instructions.
Type into your phone...
*004*1XXXYYYZZZZ# dial
That will forward (missed calls, busy, and phone not reachable) calls to that number.
Also, on T-mo (not prepay) and AT&T you can set the number of seconds before the ringing call goes to VM.
*61*1XXXYYYZZZZ**10# dial
Where 10 is the number of seconds the phone rings before going to VM.
You can look it up, but valid numbers there are 5, 10, 15, 20, 30.
You can save that as a contact and change the time it rings based on location.
(If you have two GV numbers, you could direct missed calls to one voicemail box,
and phone off /no service calls to another number for a different message)
Enjoy.

Also, just FYI, install the GV app on any android phone (since the G1), and it will allow you to toggle outgoing calls being made through GV or your call service (or prompt you each time you dial). So if the GV app is running you can call someone and the caller ID is your GV number. The phone says something about calling 1-800-whatever which is google's relay number. The app also allows you to listen to voicemails and full access to the same stuff in the webpage (ie. send SMS from the app, block calls, etc).
The only difference is that Sprint has totally integrated GV numbers with their phones, so you can actually send and receive calls from GV number without the app running or intermediate 800 number. (maybe they pseudo port your GV number)
Also protip, you can transfer GV numbers between different gmail accounts. You can even swap two GV numbers but it requires a third dummy google acct. The only thing in transferring is that you must have different pin numbers and the receiving account must not have any GV number associated with it (or you just transfer it to a new dummy acct). You can also have the same GV number listed on two gmail accounts is they both set the number to Home instead of Cell, but that means you cannot get SMS forwards. Google has a special webpage for the transferring process, which happens almost instantly.

You go to voice.google.com and add a cellphone to your account (or edit the number the acct is associated with). When you do this google with call you and you have to enter in two numbers. Or if you do not already have a GV number it will walk you through the process (pick a GV number, enter your cell number, confirmation, done)
Go into settings from your dialer, call forwarding, and then change the last three numbers to your gv number then it will work properly. For some reason the app doesn't do that part properly on our phones.

Google Voice Problem-> Sends real number

When I try set voice mail service on my JB (AT&T JB/Rooted) it fails to register. But I have fowarding set to my GV number so it does send voice mail there.
I have GV settings (online GV settings) set to display my GV number, not the real number (Don't want texts sent to real number...have that turned off). But I learned today that my real number is displaying on the other side.
Any suggestions?
Everything I have read states AT&T doesn't support third party voice mail providers. I'd love to see a solution too because AT&T vm is terrible.

If you are running 4.1.1 stock, it will not work, have to wait for an update.
Boy. Google is getting as bad as some others. Even their own products not working together. GV seems to not be getting much support/update or enhancements from Google. I wonder when they will add it to their list of products to drop.
I did have this solved, on my last gs3 on AOKP. VM went to GV and all calls went through GV with my caller ID showing as my GV number.
New phone, new flash and I'm working on it again.
In my case I use GV for all texting, and all calls. I did have the problem of phone VM set up originally. And I thought I had it set up well and then borked the phone.
I'm still starting over since yesterday.
IF you look at the screen that shows up under phone> menu> voicemail> set up. That screen looks like an old GB screen and has your google voice number listed as you voicemail as area code+number. There is no "1" before the number. if you de activate and reactivate from teh web interface and start using those codes *00xxxxxxx whatever, notice forwarding has a "1" in front of your number to forward to.
I thought this had somethig to do with it, maybe not.
But I'm working on it today
I noticed that whenever I receive a call from my GV number, my native dialer disappears when I try to hit the 1 key to answer the call. Reminds me of a game of whack a mole, lol
