[Q] KitKat - CyanogenMod 11 (KitKat) M2 Snapshot Builds? - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi all,
I eager to try kitkat version on my kindle fire, and tried several different rom. today I see an article about CM11 M2 Snapshot Build, that supposed to be more stable than nightly build. I do search here about CM11 snapshot build, but didnt find a single thread about this. why is that? from CM webpage, otter version is availble, no one try this? or there's a reason people didnt try this version?
mainly I want to try out the significant improvement with ART, but most ROM said we shouldnt use ART, because it is not stable yet, anyone can point me to the one that works? or at least let me which KitKat ROM that is most stable so far for kindle fire.
meanwhile, I keep getting back to Jandycane for my ROM
thanks

Thread is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1591850

That's nightlies not snapshot build, is it the same?

Yes, page 298 is where people start discussing the M2 build.

[q] cm7 nightly & cm7

Hey!
I want to put CM rom on my gf's wildfire and i didn't find anywhere the difference between the regular and the nightly version... can someone explain it to me?
Nightlies are experimental versions, which may be better than the stable, but, it may sometimes also have bugs not present in the stable. The building of nightlies is a continuous process, with a new nightly released everyday.
Another difference is that you do not get "official" support on the CM Bug tracker for nightlies, but, this is available for RC / Stable versions.
For your gf's phone, I would probably recommend you go with the stable.
thank you for your help!
stable is better for father, i think

[Q] CM11 Unofficial vs Nightly

I've been running PlayfulGod's CM11 Unofficial for the past couple days with success. I see that CM11 "official" nightly builds are now available, but PlayfulGod is still updating the unofficial build.
Just wondering if there is a changelog for the nightly builds similar to what PlayfulGod has on his thread? I'm not clear what the differences between these versions are. I'm new!
If you read the threads, you should be able to find out what the unofficial builders cherry pick that aren't in the official builds. All it takes is a little bit of reading.
For the most part, there are not going to be any drastic changes - they are on the same base after all.

Yes you're right .. i think the unofficial is the best than nightly .. because nightly just beta tester before official ...

Looking to update from 4.2.2 stock ROM

Hey guys, I got a Kindle Fire 2 here that I installed a 4.2.2 Jellybean Stock ROM about a year ago. While it's served me well, it has a few issues. I'm looking to see if you guys would recommend any particular ROM to install?
Furthermore, I tried looking at the CyanogenMod for Kindle Fire 2, but I'm not entirely sure what's the difference between CM10.1 Nightlies and CM11 Nightlies. I see people in a CM11 thread asking for Official CM10.1 nightlies, but I'm confused as I would think CM11 would be better?
Thanks in advance fellas. :fingers-crossed:

Cm11 is better (it's the latest and greatest). Less bugs and runs faster. Honestly there are very few knowledgeable people in these forums. . Hence the questions. Also- there are no new cm10.1 nightlies.
What particular issues are you trying to resolve? Maybe I can point you in the right direction.

[Q] Can you update a Rom by an overwrite? Or start new?

I got an answer for a Asus Transformer 101, but nothing to verify the same with the LG G Pad - and the LG tablet is the one I'm using at this time.
Reason I'm asking - the nightlies that are coming out on various Roms (by various builders) have updated things in the nightly issues...but I don't want to have to go through the hassle of 'starting over'.
At this time I'm running the SlimKat 4.6 which I take is the most stable and nothing new out as of yet. I need to comfirm that I can overwrite this Rom with TWRP with a weekly or nightly build of SlimKat and not loose what I have saved...that is if they come with a update.
Thanks loads in advance! :fingers-crossed:
You're asking about dirty flashing? Correct me if I'm wrong but I think it depends on the rom and its release strategy.
For example, CM nightlies can be flashed over existing ones, and same for snapshots. But they advise not flashing snapshots over nightlies or vice versa.
I usually do a TWRP backup before a dirty flash.

CM 12.1 as daily driver

There are some unofficial CM12.1 builds for our lovely ZL, one in the development section in this forum and some unofficial builds by freexp ( http://fxpblog.co/cyanogenmod/cyanogenmod-12.1/).
I'm going to switch to CM cause I don't believe sony will ever release 5.1 or at least a stagefright patch for our phone.
Is anyone using 12.1 as a daily driver? Are the builds running stable? Is there something that holds you back from using CM?
Thanks for your opinions!
Hi. I'm on cm12.1 for a month and its working fine.

Thank you! Any idea where to get a recent build? Fxp is a month old and in the build by qsnc some things are broken (chrome?).
I'd like to build it myself, but since I have a bandwith of exactly 384kb/s it would take years to download cm source....
I'm compiling my own. ☺
You can try the version on the radio active time fix thread.
It´s ok not the best !!!

I installed CM 12.1 from official CM site and run pretty good, sometimes i think that phone its over heating, especially when im playing some memory drain game. I trying now back to Stock 5.1.1 (xperiafirmware) but have problen when try to flash TFT in flashtool.
In my opinion, i prefer stock than CM 12.1, but its only my mind. (excuses for my horrible english)
