I tried to update my Samsung Galaxy Note II to 4.1.2 but I encountered an error on odin and now its stuck with the a message of " Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again."
However Kies is not recognizing the phone when i plug it to the usb cable. but when i try odin it says its added. I cant get it to download mode.:crying:
How do I get this fixed?
I need your help badly...
what exactly you getting while rebooting to download mode?
If you getting msg to use recovery mode while rebooting to download mode, then this is also download mode, flash using odin
The same thing happened for me. It won't update no matter what you do. I tried reinstall kies and drivers but no luck.
And the strange part is if you like I did wait a couple of days the update won't be available anymore. It will start saying that you already have the latest firmware. I read somewhere that it was maybe caused because samsung found a bug in the firmware and then they quickly rool it back

Any help on the above post would be greatly appreciated.
I believe my issue is that I tried rooting it but had the "new" firmware on the device so the root process didn't work. Now, from what I can tell, the boot.img is fubar'd.
I can't charge the phone when it's off. Goes straight to the firmware upgrade failed screen. I try to ODIN factory image and it fails on write of boot.img.
Had the device a whole 2 hrs before it became a paper weight.:crying:
Can you go into download mode?

Happened to me once as well,i accidently lost the USB connection from the PC and all i did was go into the KIES thing and then click on emergency firmware recovery. It worked well for me but in your case you might consider going into download mode(vol down + home + power button) and then flashing a new stock firmware from samfirmware via ODIN
Hey Guys,
I'm trying to help a friend with his GN2. From what I understand he received the latest upgrade from Verizon and tried to unlock the bootloader. When you power up the phone we get this message. "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again". Now I'm having him download the Kies software to see if it will help. We are able to get the phone into "download mode" for Odin. But every time we try to flash the stock it always fails.
Is there anything else we can do. Thanks for any Help.
Hi,
I have a custom rom in my note 2. Recently, I had to give the phone to samsung repair for warranty purposes.
So, I decided to flash it with stock ROM, during flashing via odin, it displayed a message FAILED!!!
And now, the phone is not starting. It only displays a message "FIRMWARE UPGRADE ENCOUNTERED AN ISSUE. PLEASE SELECT RECOVERY MODE IN KIES & TRY AGAIN"
Plz help.

Hi! Thanx a lot, done with it. Data cable was faulty. Replaced the cable and things gone well.
So my Galaxy S3 for Virgin im guessing is bricked. I first had rooted and flashed to a Kitkat rom but now im trying to revert back to Stock and completely unroot it as if i had never done it. I looked online and found a "fix" where i used odin to flash back to stock, but that didnt work and it failed so now im stuck at the screen on my phone that says, "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and Try again." the thing is Kies wont recognize my phone. someone please help
Good Afternoon, guys!
I have a issue with my Galaxy Note II, i was trying to install original firmware by Odin but unfortunately it didn't work. Odin had error all the time. I tried all of the methods which i found on forum all time my phone was stacked at "Downloading Mode...Do not turn off target". Also i found solution with TWRP and i tried to install TWRP by odin, so it kinda works i had a message that i passed but now for some reason i can't access to download mode at all :crying:
So my question is, how i can access to download mode to make recover?
And anybody know how i can make recovery with bricked phone? i was trying all of the firmware and it didnt work :crying:
Please help, hope you understand what i meant.
