(KK)(ROM)(LINK) Cyanogenmod 11 by Maclaw 2014 - Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660

Believe it or not everyone, MaclawStudio is back on development for the ArmV6 Galaxy Gio and Galaxy Ace. To Top it all off, He has a booting release of KitKat (as CM11) built for the Gio and Ace. The First Release was on 16 January 2014 causing a bit of a stir and excitement (including myself ) in the Gio/Ace Community.

Unfortunately I'm not the developer of this ROM so I can't take the logcat. MaclawStudio team could handle that, (I'm just sharing the ROM) , but I'm sure within the coming weeks it will be almost bugless Bluetooth seems to be a general bug for now, I'm also having issues with it.

try CWM 5 from MMB

For those of you who have trouble installing this, this is how i did it (not saying it will work for you but it worked for me).
First of all i might say that i used CWM 5.0.2.6.
1) I booted in to CWM
2) Format system (option is found in mount and storage i believe)
3) Full wipe/factory reset
4) Clean cache and dalvik
5) Install the rom
6) Clean cache and dalvik
Reboot phone and wait for it to start, when i got my phone started a noticed a lack of Gapps so i once again rebooted
in to recaovery and installed this Gapps
Im not taking any responsibility for what happens to your phone if you follow these steps only i can say is that they worked for me

I have installed it over Modded Cm10.1, with all necessary wipe's.
btw. Why KikKat if we cant get it main feature - ART. ?

I see What You Mean, but there are alot of other reasons, such as the lowered system requirements, sweet newer type of UI, THE LATEST ANDROID VERSION (to name a few)

Anybody having Problems with recovery and install use @phiexz CWM 5 (ext4 only) :good:

when a new update ?

Remember to not have a screenlock with more than 3x3 if u update from previous build , i had and couldnt put it in ...
Did a factory reset then , flashed 4.2 and gapps 4.2 , booted up first run.

Quarx will solve that in the next build don't worry. It's not working for anyone. It's just a Demo rom so please wait until master quarx releases a daily usable rom.

New unofficial version
After install some times in nany ways and settings I confirmed that new 4.2 version is good for defy hardware and custom kernel.
I still worry when Quarx2k implements the CM feautures if this is bug the rom.
But now...
1 - With or without gapps (4.2 or 4.1.2) the initial settings show erros.
2 - GSM signal is very weak, but phone tottaly functional.
3 - Widgets are not full sized on screen ( all go to left on screen).
4 - Phone with lot of memory and flows very good.
Where can I download gapps 4.2?
I hope the data dropouts i have in CM10 will be solved in CM10.1 but dont have my hopes up to high because they been there so long now that i dont even know when they started, might have been already on CM9 but im not sure.
Another thing that worries me a bit is that the system space is not big enough while internal storage atleast for me is on over 1GB, possible to make the system space bigger?
Cheers?

We can't resize system rom, because we have locked bootloader & i think 2ndboot will not help. Solution - unistall not need system apps, hint: unistall CMWallpapers - it will free about 10MB in SROM
Could this app solve the SD problem?

Well I am not aware of any 4.0 or above ROMs that can be flashed via ODIN. I am sure if any developer wants, they may be able to do it but I really think that flashing via recovery is always a better choice compared to ODIN. I see no advantage for ODIN flash...

Well, I'm more familiar with Odin flashing compared to recovery mode, and it's a whole lot easier compared to other flashing methods. I don't find that the recovery mode is easy to understand, so you mind to provide me the steps (better if they are easier to understand and follow) and also a link to a stable Android 4.0 Rom?

Do you have root access on your phone? Every step is actually quite easy to follow. There are really good guides on both general and development sections. But beforewe delve into howto's you should clarify what constitutes STABLE for you...
We have ICS (4.04) as well as JB ( 4.1.2 and 4.2.2) in the development section. All are pretty good but here and there they may have some bugs. Just go to their threads check them out. On the very first page of a ROM thread what works and what doesn't are listed. Decide whether you can live with one of them then we can talk about howto's.
I recommend CM9, CM10 and CM10.1 all from the developer arco68...
OHHH with a custom recovery, you don't even need a computer to flash a new ROM. That surely is a bonus...

I have root access on my phone. Well, I don't see the ROM thread that you mentioned. Stable means that the ROM is not easy to crash or eats up my RAM even when I'm not using it, while common bugs are still acceptable if they can be fixed (I can't find threads from arco68, so I don't know what you mean by his CM9 and all those so...)
Hope you can enlighten me more about this recovery method and the difference between the CMs (if possible, also include any differences between ICS and JB b'coz I don't know which one to choose)
Recovery is super easy:
Download the zip and put it on your SD (internal or external, makes no difference)
Then turn of your phone
Press and hold Volume up + Power button + home button
Once the screen turns on, release the power button, but keep holding onto the other two
Then the recovery menu shows up
choose install zip from SD
select the zip and hit install
finished

Are there any down sides regarding the CM9 mod? And can I change the shortcuts on the lockscreen if I install CM9?
And also, what is CWM actually? I don't understand from the FAQs in the forums or other sites, so can you tell me what CWM is (CWM5 or CWM6) and how to access or install that?

Its a kind of recovery, called ClockworkMOD. Now its the 6.0.3.0 version if I'm not wrong...
Linky: here
Okay, the process of installation of a custom recovery is tedious. Link: here DO NOT USE THE FILES IN THIS PAGE. JUST THE INSTRUCTIONS.
Now, flash the ROM (any of the three is fine. I personally recommend CM9 or 10 cus its in its RC stages, which means Resource... something)
The instructions is on the ROM page itself. And you're done. I or arco are not held responsible if your phone is screwed up in the process (very little chance) or
if your heart fails because its loading for a longer period than it should be.

And also, does the CM9 have any bugs? Because I saw some in the posts by people about CM10 but not CM9 (refer to links of above comments)

Well obviously, since its a custom ROM, its bound to have bugs. There's no such thing as a "perfect" ROM. And I have 6.0.1.something CWM and I have flashed every single ROM, from 9-10.1. So it shouldn't be a problem.

I believe I have caused some misinterpretation here. What I mean is that I want to know if there is anything that's not working in CM9. The stuff below is found from the CM9 thread.
What's working:
Audio
Receiving and making calls
GPS
Compass
Proximity sensor
Wifi
Bluetooth
USB mass storage
HW accelerated gui
HW accelerated video
Camera
Torch
Wifi and USB tethering
There isn't anything that's not shown as "not working", so I'm asking you about it just for confirmation.
If there isn't anything, I will flash CM9 soon.

I just noticed something in your post. Just to clarify, RC mean "Release Candidate" not resource something... Just so you know. First alpha's come, then beta's, and right before a FINAL version is released in which most of the bugs are squashed, a release candidate comes to make sure everything is working. If for example, no bugs remain in a release candidate, it is renamed to FINAL as far as I know
However, there are different understanding of these names on the internet. For example, for some, once a product is in a BETA phase, no more new features added from there on. However, that may not be true for CM releases here, I am not sure.
and @zacszy, both CM9 and CM10 are pretty stable. I have not encountered any show stopping bugs but that maybe because of the way I use my phone, as I dont play games. I use it mostly for productivity, internet surfing, couple of youtube videos, music...
Try them all. I am sure you will pick one that suits your needs..

[4.0][ICS][ROM]Mackay CM9 2014 1.7 (25-mar-14)

Because of all the slowdowns in kitkat, I decided to give ICS another try.
Specs:
-Based on CyanogenMod 9
-With Mackay kernel (updated to 3.0.101, updated governors & schedulers, XL RAM some other nice stuff):
https://github.com/kasperhettinga/samsung-kernel-aries/commits/mackay-cm9-2014
-TWRP 2.2.2.0
-no 720p possible, XLMem (do not ask for other flavours, I just make a one-flavour option tuned for smoothness)
Download:
https://s.basketbuild.com/devs/kasperhettinga/sgs/rom/pre-KK//
Gapps:
http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip
This are the latest official gapps. Newer gapps can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.om/showpost.php?p=50748003&postcount=135
(I haven't tested this package, I also don't think latest gapps is relevant, as gapps get updated through Play Store anyway)
Install:
-From existing CM9: install on top + flash gapps
-From any jellybean ROM: you can try to install it on top, but it may result in bootloops, requiring flashing GB through Odin (see below for next steps). Flash ROM. Flash gapps.
-From stock Samsung GB: install CF-ROOT-CWM kernel, or any other CWM containing kernel. Flash ROM. Flash gapps.
You need to flash gapps on every new build, backup/restore of gapps does not work yet!
If you have space issues, you can use a solution to bind /datadata to /data partition:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50653795&postcount=55
THIS IS NOT AN ADVICE TO DO THIS! I do not like this solution, as it will slow down your phone (especially with the slow internal memory chip). And it goes against my lean & mean philosophy for this ROM. Therefore: please think well before doing this!

You remember it wrong
ICS always had a small system & small datadata partition, both on the fast Onenand. This was actually the fastest layout I ever worked with. The changes in layout all happened in jellybean. And I will not start using jellybean partition layouts: I strive for speed and simplicity, which fits perfectly with the ICS layout.

1. No 720p support at all or only 720p recording is disabled but 720p playback still works?
2. If there's no Performance->Scheduler option in ICS, can schedulers be selected using other ways?
3. zRAM , KSM are still there ? (sorry I am used to your KK kernel)

WOOOHOO!
My dreams came true, it actually happened!
You know, I was testing out CM9 a few times and I noticed huge improvements in smoothness and stuff like that, but the most impressive thing that I realised was that the chrome browser was not lagging at all! I think this means something!
I just have a few questions:
Is it possible to port CMA here? (it's not really necessary, I'm just wondering)
Aaand what about all those super cool features from Omni ROMs? Is there any way to port those? (again it's not necessary at all, I'm just asking)
Anyway I hope the development of this ROM will continue. Going to install this right away! :good: :good:
If you'll continue working on this ROM and we'll continue using it, we can make together the fastest and the best ROM ever made for our SGS, I believe!
The guys. Collect this ROM for Vibrant. Please!
Wow, our aging i9000 gets an encore ICS build!
What a joy! I will try!
I have a question regarding my old official CM9 nandroid backup done with Semaphore 1.3.0: is it worth trying to advanced restore only its data with Sema 1.3.0 to this ROM, and then flash this ROM over it to retain Mackay kernel back and my beloved TWRP with it?

Google Play Store is not updating itself aswell. Got the same problem with 403 . Coming from Android 4.4.2, I've flashed an Android 4.3.1 kernel, reboot to recovery, flashed CM9 twice, full wipe with system format, flashed Mackay CM9 and ICS gapps. Full wiped and system format, flashed the ROM again with gapps and the 403 error was still there. Then I've tried to go back to CM11 and the 403 error persisted.
Went back to stock GB and rooted it using Odin3 and then flashed Mackay CM9 and ICS gapps, now 403 is not showing up but another error appeared (921) and I've tried to clear data for Download Manager, Google Play Store, Google Services Framework, removed my Google Account and rebooted. Then I've re-added the Google Account and now the 403 error reappeared.
@kasper_h got any ideas ?

-CMA is not worth it, would hardly give more free RAM.
-Due to major overhauls in Android between ICS->JB->KitKat it will be nearly impossible to port anything back. Also, my motto for this ROM is lean & mean.

My play store is working and was updated automatically. I could manually install apps, and some gapps (TTS, Search) were updated fine as well. Maybe try deleting Play Store data, as that seems like the best way in any Android revision to solve Play Store issues.

That didn't work for me.
I tried to:
-delete Play Store data
-reflash rom & gapps
-manually update Play Store & then try to install apps, delete Play Store data
-etc,etc, nothing helped.
Now I'm trying another gapps package.
EDIT: Success! The updated 4.0.4 gapps package from this thread works for me: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2294152

AOKP+Nameless+Asylum_Omni

I have tested these roms on my find 7a and they work great. I'm not sure of these will work with find 7 so please do a nand backup and report back in the thread if it works. Credits to the devs for these releases.

Thanks for sharing. I know Chas has set up a thread or two on XDA before so I'll patiently wait for him to start one up.
Anyone tried this?http://androxfer.in/get.php?p=AOKP-....zip&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=pulsenews
Apparently it works on 7a
I will give it a shot now
Edit* This appears to be the same as the one I linked in the OP but a newer build from Dirk. I am assuming this has now gone in to an official status as I can find it on the AOKP site. OP has been updated with the official site being the link - Thank you for pointing it out as it has now made me realise it was official! - I remember seeing a post from Dirk on Google+ about it being supported but I had forgotten to keep an eye out on the actual AOKP site.
Also added official CM nightlies to OP
Do any of this work with the Find7 (not 7a)?

I'm not sure. You could make a nand backup then try if you want. I think as soon as there is an AOSP rom built for the find 7 QHD you could use the kernel from that and put it in roms built for find 7a and everything should be fine. Until then it might not function at 100 percent.
Thanks for posting the links dude!
So the AOKP nightly for the FInd 7, that's for the "Find 7" not the 7a? And is it for the 9077? AOKP doesn't specify the device model
Cheers

Well Dirk Rettschlag has mentioned it here as the Find 7 but I have used the version displayed in the screenshot from his G+ plus the release on the official AOKP site which also lists it as Find 7 on my Find 7a and it works perfectly. Do a nand backup and have a shot at testing it?
DOES IT WORK?
Find 7 (x9076) compatibility?
Is it compatible with the QHD Find 7?

SuperSU kept force closing and was non responsive at all both times I installed the ROM on clean installs. Could get no root features or root apps to work?
I've seen this before as SuperSU needed the binaries updated but I could get no progress with it??

I liked C-Rom but it gave me issues installing it. Every time I tried to run it it would not pass the boot animation; after 10 minutes of it sitting there the same thing would happen on reboot. The only way I got it to work was by dirty flashing over the top of itself. After installing all of my apps i went to reboot and upon pressing and holding the power button it forced a hot reboot that would not pass the boot animation. I gave up after trying this a few times. I didn't report this to the dev as he has lots of stuff going on.

Had similar issues first time I tried booting C-Rom. When I seen Nameless on the Oppo forums their instructions added wipe system after full wipe an it seems to be working good like that. I now factory reset, then wipe system, dalvik and cache under advanced and it seems to be working fine like that

Working now....
Awesome! I'm trying
Ok so I tried this rom finally! Here's my feedback:
First of all I'm a bit confused why is this called cyanogenmod 14, because its not cm. It looks like the vanilla aosp from a one plus device or maybe nexus. It has no cm features.
Secondly like stated in the op this is indeed for chinese storage. I can confirm lvm does not work.
Stock gallery does not show all the picture folders. However quickpic from playstore works fine.
Music players can't detect songs on my sd card. But I can play them from file explorer.
I didn't test bluetooth for now.
Other than these things, this is really smooth and stable for an initial test build. So kudos to the dev for bringing N so quickly for our devices! You can use this as a daily driver

Looks like the Russian one is working for me, hopefully it doesn't stop mid download! Thanks for your help
Just to confirm process from RR with LVM would be;
1) Use tools to perform chinese unify (Should wipe entire device)
2) Flash TWRP
3) Flash the new CM14 Rom, gapps and all that good stuff
4) Profit???
Ok well I'm flashing the rom now and everything has gone through without issue! the tool only took about 2:50 for me.
For anyone trying to get English in twrp, second from bottom on the right and then select the globe icon at the top
Please, can someone explain the difference between chinese storage partition and LVM? Not technically, of course. I want to know about partitions and their sizes.
Thanks again.

From what I can tell the LVM method is a linux storage method that allows data to be stored in a varying sized partition by allowing on the fly resizing. The chinese method of dealing with the sotorage partition looks pretty much the same, if you look at the free app storage space it will be only around 100mb or less, but as you install more apps more space is allocated so it appears there is the entire device storage available.
I would assume the only difference would be in the way the Rom sees and interacts with the device storage. But on the most part there doesn't seem to be any real world issues, everything seems to work great and I wouldn't know it wasn't running on the LVM partition.
