Hey all!
I have some problems on my Galaxy Nexus GSM Phone!
The problem(s) are:
Bad Battery life, uses too much battery.. :S
sometimes WiFi signal jumping from 2 to 4
I have tested many ROMs but still same problem..
I have changed baseband radio many times!
I have changed Kernel 3 times!
trinity or what it is, it's not good for my GSM GN and then I flashed Franco kernel that is OK, CMtuna was OK but I wanna use it when it is more stable..
When I bought Galaxy Nexus then all was fine but I didn't get any updates so I flashed to custom ROM...
(I'm using stock 4.0.4 ROM and I changed XXLA2 to XXKK6)
Anybody can help? I need help quickly! Thanks if you can help!
GSM GN, I bought it from Finland and I live in Finland so which is the best baseband for my GSM GN?
1. Looks like screen eats out all your battery, are you using it at 100% brightness? As for kernels, i'd recommend using stock one. Currently i'm testing Franco M3 and battery seem to drain out a bit faster if compared to stockc IMM76D kernel.
2. If signal never drops actually - just ignore it.
Edit. I just noticed you're using nightly kernel with 512MHz frequency on GPU... Looks like you're messing with stuff you have no clue about. Insane overclocking and good battery life is something from hard to imposible to achieve.

OK, I can't find stock kernel (I haven't found yet), I just tested the newest nightly kernel and whatever what ROM I use, what baseband radio I use and Kernel I use them will not make really much difference, still battery goes empty too fast! :/
I keep WiFi all the time on, I'll newer turn it off when it's available to use WiFi, I never use 3G or 2G..
on ZTE Blade CM7, battery stays 1/2 days in 90% and it's using WiFi all the time..
Brightness is in 100%
Thanks!
I flashed GN-GSM Gybrid 3.0.29 kernel!
It works and anybody know is this good for GSM GN Battery? so I mean does it use so much battery as usually modified kernels uses?
just flashed and performance might be a little bit better, about battery I don't know yet!
And what is your screen on time? With 100% brightness you can use any kernel/ROM you want, nothing will help.
Edit: added stock, insecured IMM76D kernel (made by Revoked). Don't forget to wipe Cache/Dalvik-cache.

OK Thanks!
5 hours 51min
Screen:74%, screen was on 1 hour 45min 51 secs
with tuna kernel 3.0.24 in 16 minutes battery has used more than 6%...
I don't understand why my Battery drains too fast, I have no Idea how to fix!
any kernel, baseband or other ROM will not help!
and I can't find information about the right baseband radio for europe: Finnish/Estonia (other north countries)...
:/
I have to go soon to store to check out what is the baseband radio what GN uses in Finland!
Thanks really much for helping me!
EDIT: I'll flash this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1625700&highlight=stock
Why would you use so outdated ROM (4.0.1)? I'd suggest you to download and flash latest IMM76I image from Google, it will update bootloader (to PRIMELA03) and baseband (XXLA02) is well. This would wipe your phone, so don't forget to make a backup of your all internal storage.
OR
You could try this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1586807&highlight=imm76d and then manually flash XXLA02 baseband. Doing so would not wipe your phone.
And i'll repeat myself: no ROM/Kernel/Baseband will help you to save battery as much as reducing screen brightness would.
Looks like quite a number of wakelocks could be keeping your phone awake while your screen is off. Download BetterBatteryStats to help identify what they are. I suggest reading through this thread.

I used that and with that I used XXLA2 baseband radio..
:/
It's not good for my GN!
the outdated ROM should get updates so then I can update it to newest version!
also I can try to make AOSP ROM for my GN but I'm noob to make ROMs, I just can port ROMs to Jet!
I don't know did I all right or wrong
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25495298#post25495298 with those steps I installed https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#takju 4.0.4 (IMM76I)
and then kernel...
But all worked when I flashed them via fastboot by extracting the files from .tgz + .zip
Is that normal the templerun game lags little bit on 4.0.4 IMM761 with stock kernel +and baseband is XXLA2!
Hey guys what kernel you recommend for my Galaxy Nexus GSM?
(not nightly, milestone..)
I'll try other baseband radio soon, first I have to charge battery to full and then to wipe battery data..
EDIT:
I changed wifi.supplicant_scan_interval=15 to wifi.supplicant_scan_interval=150 to save battery + soon I add little bit more tweaks to save battery..
EDIT2:
How I can make flash able .zip file to change build.prop?
can somebody tell me how! ? (I replaced build.prop via Es file explorer)
With Stock 4.0.4 ROM (using stock kernel, XXLA2 baseband Radio) + tweaked build.prop to improve battery life.. IMM76I
I still haven't solve the problem..
in 2 minutes without charging 1% less..
So Please tell me which is the most stable with the best battery life Kernel + What baseband radio is worth to test (Europe, can be America too?)
Please help me to solve the problem then I do not bother here anymore..
Edit: I'm using XXKL1 baseband radio now, maybe battery is better now too!
How I can make Kernel dump on Windows/Linux Ubuntu?
EDIT2: still same problem.. :/
What a weirdo

Yeah! Now I use Jame bond kernel and it helped little bit, I have to go somewhere store to check the right baseband version..
13 min without charging and it used 4% battery, so still battery drains too fast!
on quick Reference Guide final page is something
GSM WCDMA WiFi GT-I9250 titanium silver
emc
sar
safety
radio: ex: EN 301 908-1 V4.2.1 (03-2010) Do you know WHAT IS THAT?
I really don't know nothing...
I would suggest going back to the roots. Charge the GNex to 100%, boot into CWM and delete battery stats, use your phone until the battery completely dies. Charge to full 100% and repeat the cycle a couple of times.
The battery should get calibrated by then.
I'm using Android Rev. HD ROM, and while it has its issues, its mostly stock with stock kernel and the best battery life I could imagine. But then again, I keep my screen at Auto Brightness!
Hope that you can solve your problem, 'cause it really is a beast of a phone!
I repeat this third and last time. Do not use 100% screen brighness, otherwise battery will suffer badly. There is no ROM/kernel/baseband/magicians that would ADD extra power into the battery. Some kernels might offer little bit improved battery life, but this improvement is nothing if compared to amount of power that screen eats at max. brightness.

I have made all things that can make battery to work and now I know why battery sucks, because of wrong baseband and there is no right for my GSM,WCDMA + WiFi GN Titanium Silver!
any other things does not help! :/
I just need to get Finnish or Estonian baseband Radio to fix battery and the WiFi signal!

Wrong once again. Your phone wouldn't work at all with incorrect baseband. Good luck searching for aliens under your bed, i'm out.
hey guys!
after 2 years with the great lg optimus 2x i decided to buy a lg optimus g.
all i can say after 1 month of usage is, that it is a great phone with awesome battery life.
but can i make it a better phone with even better battery life?
i usually have 2,7h screen on time until the battery goes to sleep.
i underclocked it to 1 ghz with eco mode on
can i get a better battery life if i change to a custom rom like PA and kite kernel?
(PA increased the battery life of my 2x enormously)
thanks for your answers

why?
You can't compare an optimized stock rom with a custom made out of scratch.
Sent from stock LG E975/smart phones, dumb people.
are there any mods for the stock rom, that improve battery life?
is the kite kernel better than stock one?
There are scripts available for battery but i dont think it will give a big boost to battery.. Use greenify, turn off sync, use wifi instead of 3g, lower screen timeout, lower capacitive light timeout, lower brightness etc etc etc

The best solution is to charge the phone, then turn it off and leave it like that. The battery will last for 2 weeks. Come on guys,it's a heavy duty device. It's supposed to be used. I usually get 4-5hrs of screen time, but i charge it every evening.

I'm using Greenify to hibernate some apps... Brightness at 25% with auto.... Thermald config file changed to 1026mhz(underclocked) for all the cores..... Eco mode enabled..... In 2g i used to gt now than one day backup...!!

KitKat has greatly improved my battery life. So there's hope for custom roms.
LiquidSmooth
I have been running LiquidSmooth for E973 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2526087) since November 12. It has not had a single force close or reboot or instability in that time. I side loaded the google experience launcher and am running the new launcher on 4.3.1. This has exceptional battery life and stability, light years beyond any other custom rom for E973 (though I haven't tried Omni since 11/11).
I recommend giving LiquidSmooth a try if you are having battery issues! KitKat was killing my battery life, but I'm loving this rom.

I just checked my perf monitor, and on LiquidSmooth, which is giving me battery life as good or better than stock 4.1.2, my phone is running Deep Sleep 66% of time, 384 MHz 25% of time, 1512 MHz 5% of time, and 1026 MHz 2% of the time. I will definitely check out what you are saying the next time I flash Chad's Omni build for E973. I wonder if the kernel also has a very low clock rate when the screen is off: the Bluetooth and screen issues I had may be explained by a very low CPU speed when the screen was off (music on my bluetooth headset was very skippy, with intermittent semi-second pauses, always delays but not drops of time). Thanks for sharing the possible source of poor battery life on the Omni build.
check mine
On pacman nightlies with kite kernel.
My device is reaching over 100F while on battery and 134F while charging. I am using MoKee OSP 4.4.2 as my rom and I applied ComaDose V2.1 and Cossbreeder 7.2.13 tweaks. I have no idea what's going on. I saw that my CPU usage was a whopping 20 to 50% even while idle and I just flashed the darn thing yesterday. I love KitKat but I think if I can't solve this, I'm gonna switch back to stock.

I have run into this problem as well with a few kit kat roms. I always just take the battery out for a few mins and it normally helps.
I also found unmounting and 'remounting the external sd sometimes helped calm the cpu down.

Hi
I recently flashed CM11 to my LG opt G, E975. Everything seems to be working, except for one little detail.
The battery voltage is reported to some 3-4 mV, which seems to be off by a factor of 1000.
The battery life is around the same as on the stock LG rom, so this is a minor issue but it bugs me.
Does anyone know if this is something I am able to do anything about, or if it something that just is. Do any of you other CM users see this on this phone?
I have asked this in the CM forum, but the thread is still empty

In stock rom at max it goes upto 4.3V which is same as CM.
Yes I am aware of that, and my voltage gets reported in mV. It is off by a factor of 1000 (my guess at least)

So how's you g3 battery life. I'm just wonder because I'm running the latest CM 12 builds on my vs985 and am getting around 3 hours of screen on time.(screen on time is how I like measures battery life) I have 2 batteries and and external charger for my G3 with I got threw lg when the had there promotion. But before the g3 got bumped on the stock ROM I used to get about 4 hours of screen on time, but if I'm like most android geek we love our stick android and the latest version of Android. So below is a couple questions I'm wondering
1. What G3 model do you have?
2. How's the battery life?
3. What ROM are you running?
4. Have you found anyway to increase battery?
