Unroot - T999_UVUEMJC - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

Gurus,
I recently upgraded my Firmware with root66's pre-rooted version of T999_UVUEMJC and the device is working correctly. I am planning to use ISIS NFC feature to take advantage of their Mobile payments and i am getting a message that my device was rooted and ISIS doesn't work.
Is there a work around for ISIS to work on a rooted device. if not can i install Official STOCK firmware and unroot my device?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1949687
Any suggestion on how to do this and the procedure please.

Please Install the all OTA Rootkeeper from Play Store. That app allows you to take a backup and temporarily unroot your device. Once that's done, you can use ISIS. You can restore Root after you are done.

Thanks for your quick response.
The App says "OTA RootKeeper -no 4.3 support", Since T999_UVUEMJC is 4.3 I cannot use OTA App.

Check if your superuser app supports temp unroot, you can restore root after you don't need isis anymore..

Keep root through OTA update R800x?

Title. 2.3.4. Locked bootloader.
Sent from my R800x using XDA
Root is kept when you update OTA for a GSM play, so I see no reason why it wouldn't be the same for Verizon.
Sent from a Galaxy far, far away
How to keep it:
What you need to do is get the app "Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper" and use it to back up your root. After you back up your root do "Temp un-root" and then remove superuser. Afterwards, you can OTA update and download superuser again. Then go back to Voodoo and you can restore your root without problem
(I did this as well on my R800x to keep my root)
(Also, you would lose root by updating normally)

I didn't use OTA Rootkeeper and did not lose root. However, I have an unlocked bootloader and maybe that makes a difference.

Did not need OTA rootkeeper to update and keep root either. OTA Rootkeeper even says in the app that it doesn't work on this phone.

I feel like this is a forgotten method of rooting. So here goes....
I wanted to see the 2.3.4 update, so I FTF'd to stock, and didnt instal root. I then OTA'd to 2.3.4. So now I was stock 2.3.4 then...
Just boot into recovery and instal SuperUser.zip !! Viola ! Now your 2.3.4 Rooted and good to go! No extra steps , no extra apps !

Edit : but I gotta stop forgetting some people still have locked boot loaders...

Not entirely, I did the OTA update while keeping root using SuperSU Pro and the root saving function. I had a similar failure at 25% when I first tried to update but found it was because I had missed a system app when defrosting. Make sure you've reinstalled/defrosted all the system apps you removed when you debloated.
As you're able to download the OTA update it means you've avoided tripping the flash counter and have been able to maintain the Status:Normal. I rooted originally with the Exynos abuse and have been using SuperSU Pro's root saving function since then to keep root through the OTA updates. It is possible but I will admit it has caused more difficulty then if I went the Mobile Oden or TWRP route.

Help with twrp for sprint g2?

Ok, so here is my issue. For the sake of time, i want to make this question as simple as possible.
I've been putting it off, but now that kit kat is here, i need to get the ball rolling with twrp and my phone. Basically, i am on zv7, rooted stock. I have not been able to install twrp on my phone, and I need someone who would be merciful enough to help me out, to explain to me how to install it on stock zv7, and get kit kat, as i dont want to unroot. I have yet to find instructions online that would be able to help me with my particular situation... Any help would be appreciated.... Thank you for your time guys.

You can update with stock rooted. Why are you not on at least ZVA? You don't need a custom recovery to be rooted. You can be rooted and have stock recovery, but any time you take an OTA update you lose the root and have to rerun ioroot.

My point exactly. I don't want to lose root, and i don't want to reroot. Even if i took the OTA on stock rooted, i'm pretty sure it would break several things I have now as i use alot of apps that require root privilegedes, e.g titanium backup. I realize you don't need to have twrp to be rooted (as i am rooted), but i do need it to safely flash an updated 4.4 zip that would preserve my root privileges, and upgrade me to kitkat...
P. S, i am not on ZVA because when i soft bricked earlier this year, i had to go back to full unrooted stock, and in my rush to reroot, forgot to upgrade to zva before rooting, which is why im on zv7...

If you follow this method you will not lose root. But, 4.4.2 can be rooted with ioroot25 anyway, and it's easy.
The only way to enter custom recovery will be through a terminal emulator command (see post #2). If you take the OTA, you will lose custom recovery altogether.

It sounds like it would be easier for me to just take the OTA and reroot then go through this process of getting a custom recovery... Can i take the OTA on stock rooted zv7 without any serious reprocussions?

If I'm not mistaken when you check for updates, you will have to update to zv8, then zva, then it will offer zvc. Check in your updater what it says is available. I don't expect you'll have any issues as long as you haven't modified files/removed system files.

No. You will have to unfreeze those apps and completely remove xposed. You might want to flash Youdug's odexed stock rom if you continue to run into snags.
Also: If you are taking the OTA on your phone, you should probably unroot.
Ok, so here is what i did. I updated all the way to zva, but now im not seeing the kitkat update. How do i go about getting kitkat since the update broke root completely?
Just a note for those who want to preserve root while doing an OTA, supersu and superuser have a "survival mode" for people who want to preserve root. I had to factory reset so i couldn't do it, but just something to keep in mind.

If you're not seeing the update you have a few options. Some say clearing Google services framework data and hitting check for updates repeatedly works. You can install it using the method above, or you can flash autoprime's .tot file using LG flash tool.
You can always re-root with ioroot25 if you need to.
Just want to say thanks to everyone here who took the time to help me out. For those of you who want to know, i decided to root from zva. I used the freegee app to download and install recovery (super easy) and am about to flash cm11 for stock kitkat.

[Q] Question - Just Rooted Tab 10.1, how do I update going forward?

Hello
Thanks to this forum, I was able to Root my Tab Pro 10.1 and edit my permissions.xml so Apps can use my SD card.
Now that I am rooted, what happens if Samsung pushes a update? Are they any apps that help preserve root over a update (I used to use Voodoo Root Keeper on my old Asus Tablet).
Or do we update and have to wait for a new root method?
Sorry if this has been asked before, I appreciate any advice.
Thanks
Jason

I don't think you'll be able to do an ota update. When I have my rooted Tab Pro 12.2 check for updates, I get this message, "Your device has been modified. Software updates are not available." Hopefully SamMobile http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/ has the update soon after the ota. Then download for your region and try to root again. It'll be a first for me too.

First of, you should never have to root again. The scary part is over. You should however install TWRP. Then when a new ROM gets released, you do a TWRP backup, and flash the new ROM . No muss, no fuss. You should also be using Titanium Backup on a regular basis so that you always have a current backup of your apps and data. Much faster, easier and SAFER than an OTA backup from the manufacturer.

Sorry, I haven't tried to re-root. I'm going to wait until custom ROMs are available. But yes to your other questions. While my device was rooted, whenever I checked for updates from the tablet, I kept getting the error message that my device is modified and no updates were available. So I installed Kies on my PC to check for updates. Kies found the latest update and installed it successfully. I lost root once the update completed.

What recovery are you using, and how did you install it, TWRP bricked mine.
C auto root is flashed with odin in download mode. While rooting, it installs a custom recovery.
maybe it's kitkat, but it didn't install one for me. When I went into recovery, it was the normal factory recovery, which allowed nothing. I tried with Rom Manager, but nothing.
CF worked
I had to manually install the latest Supersu apk then update the binaries to get it working afterword, but I'm finally rooted
Now to get tether working

Yes, if 1 - 3 is accomplished, you are ready for experiments in custom roms. You use the recovery to flash.
But make sure you have the latest recovery, and that you check the rom instructions a few times before you do anything.
Ok....cwm from Rom manager, or twrp through odin? I don't mean to break chops, I've rooted a captivate and played with it for a year, when my wtty was over with this phone, I rooted it, and had JediX 19 on it. I went back to stock, and then 4.4.2 When samsung stock 4.4.2 was installed, for some reason, it keeps bricking on me.
Ok, I rooted, and installed twrp from odin,.... passed. When I go into recovery, it's not there.
Ok. Hopefully someone has an answer. I rooted with CF auto root, Odin....fine. Installed CWM, fine. Downloaded SuperSU.....unfortunately superuser stopped working everytime I press on it. I cannot uninstall it, because it DOES NOT show up in application manager. I installed root checker, and says phone is not rooted. I can get into clockwork MOD, but no zip files show up. Can I use Odin to re flash CF auto root?, or just quit, I would hate to brick this again.
Sounds like Knox is blocking you. After rooting, install the latest Supersu apk (2.02) and install manually. Then when you open it, it should ask to update binaries. Let it, then it should ask about dialing Knox. Click yes. Viola, you're fully rooted. After the above is done, you can play with ROMs n such.
Up till that point, there is no need to flash anything, as auto root is designed to do the work for you from a pure stock rom.
