[Q] - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi every can anyone help meeee pleaseeE???
I have installed Honami Z1 exclusive room on my sony xperia arc s via CWM....but after installing I am now struck on sony logo??.......please if anyone can get me through I shall be very thankful

Sounds like something's gone wrong with the installation, are you sure everything came back ok in CWM? Can you boot back into recovery and restore using the backup option (assuming you made one before trying to install the ROM)? If not I'd suggest flashing the phone back to stock 4.1.B.0.587, check the installation instructions for the ROM one more time and give it another go.

[Q] Help boot unlocked and rooted xperia play not starting

I am new to this rooting stuff
I boot unlocked and rooted my Xperia play i flasht with a kernel and then it stucks on the Sony Ericsson logo. what to do?
Well you could try reflashing the kernel, but we need a little more information on what exactly happened leading up to it. Another option is just to use flashtool to reflash your phone. If you havent used flashtool before you can use this tutorial:
http://www.theandroidsoul.com/tutorial-how-to-flash-a-firmware-using-flashtool-on-xperia-arc/
Just keep in mind thats for the arc, the steps are the same, you just need to grab a .ftf thats made for the Play. You can find those in the dev section.
*EDIT* Make sure to uncheck "clear user data" unless you have everything backed up. Its generally a good idea to clear user data on a new flash but I'd hate for you to lose your data if its not backed up
I fixed it on my own way. But i will give you a thanks anyway

Problem with Xperia Play

So I found a custom ROM that would work on the R800x. Its DarkForest ROM, I flashed it and it said it installed successfully. I rebooted it and it sat at the Sony Ericsson screen and didn't move. So I did a battery pull and tried again, still nothing. I then tried to get it back into ClockWorkMod recovery and it won't go anywhere except the SE screen. Can someone please help me because I need my phone
If you need more information let me know and I will post it.
Your phone is bricked. Use flashtool, pc companion or seus to fix it.
I never installed that Rom, but you may need to factory reset or wipe cache in some roms after installing. If it isnt that you may be on wrong baseband or kernel and if not that you would need flashtool to go back & flash another firmware. Good luck.
Ios suckkss.
i dont have any help to offer, but were you able to get a functional backup of the stock rom working? i know pc companion can always fix it as long as it can see the phone, but i wanna keep all my apps and stuff if i decide to do anything like a new rom/kernel and gotta go back. i cant figure out how to boot into clockwork mod even tho i have the Xperia CWM Auto-Installer installed and it said it was successful (i uninstalled the app after. should i have left it?) and rom manager (after leaping through hoops getting it to even allow me to try) just reboots with no recoveries available when i try to make one. i know, more work for you, but you can get far enough to flash roms, so i was hoping you could tell me what i need to do?
UPDATE: finally got CWM to work! lol. it wouldnt work til i used the volume buttons. lol. im gonna keep several copies of my current rom just in case. lol. sorry.
This will happen to you for not unlocking your bootloader if u didn't. Thia happenes.to.me once and.I.reflashed the verizon. Tft fike with flashtool. I will reply with a better explaination later

[Q] Revert back to normal? Xperia Play.

I am an owner of a UK Xperia Play. Today I tried to tinker with my phone to install some custom firmware. Unfortunately I don't like the results. I managed to get DoomKernel 14 on my handset, which in turn allowed me to install cyanogen 7. The latter was very slow. I just want my handset back as close to its original settings as possible, so I can use it as a phone again. I have heard this can be done via Flashing Tool. There are a couple of problems with this presently. The most pressing being the fact that since I installed the above kernel/rom my back button no longer sends the phone into flashmode. Please help, I know I am a relative idiot and this may have been discussed elsewhere. But I could not find any evidence of threads.
Thank you for any help you can give.
If this proves complicated. Is there a good, smooth custom rom that I can install via Doomkernel's Zip mode in the meantime?
maybe you can try to flash another kernel and then give a try to send the phone into flashmode

[Q] Help with installing a ROM.

Hi all
Hopefully someone will be able to help me here as have spent all day going round in circles and finally decided I need to stop stabbing in the dark and ask for help from people who know what there doing.
My son has a Sony Xperia M (C1905). He's always running out of space with all the games he likes to play on it so I thought I would move them to a removable 8GB SD card for him. After downloading and installing a app that should have allowed me to move them I was still unable to so I did a Google and found out that its not possible with this phone with out rooting it.
At this point I started looking into how to do it and found out I needed to unlock my boot loader. I used this site (developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader) to get the code required and used the code in "Sony Mobile Flasher by Androxyde V0.9.18.1" to unlock it with out any problems. When I restarted the phone it would get stuck on the operator logo (Three UK) no matter how many times i restarted it or pulled the battery out.
Since then I have tried various different ROMS for the Xperia M, both installed via the CWM (zip file) and via the flash program (ftf file), also I have tried a few different versions of the CWM. All of this has got me no closer to getting the phone working again. I either get errors while trying to install the ROM or it installed fine and just goes into a boot loop.
I don't believe I have bricked the phone as I can still do everything on it (flash more, fastboot mode, format etc in CWM) i just cant get the phone to boot up correctly. Also drivers are installed on my pc fine so dont think its a problem with that either. I do think it cold just be not using the correct ROM, CWM, KERNEL?
Would someone please be able to help me out here and give me a step by step guide of what I need to do (in simple terms) along with what files to use. I'm not after the latest Android version as long as its a recent version, the only thing it has to be able to do is move apps to the SD card.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Hi,
You will need to flash the phone with the stock firmware.
Here is the topic that explains how to do it using Flashtool and also contains links to the firmware: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2697277
Once your phone is unlocked, you can follow this topic to install CM11 on your phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2584956
and lastly, this tutorial will help you use your SD card as an internal storage: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2711280&page=2
Thank you so much for your reply.
I was just coming to say that I had somehow managed to get CyanogenMod 11 rom installed and working fine (all be it with a lot of apps like play store etc missing. Do i have to install them after?)
ill have a look at the links you provided as well. thanks

If everything is working properly then you just apply the topic on the swap (last point of my first post), there are several method for each variant (which is on stock rom or CM11)
