So I have the Google Play edition Samsung Galaxy Nexus 16GB. What happened was my power button gave up so I ordered a replacement on eBay and carefully opened up the phone to replace the power button.
After reassembly, I immediately started having signal issues. Basically the phone loses all cell signal inside any building. Once I step outside, signal comes back.
Has anyone else experienced a similar issue?
One thing I have to mention is that upon reassembly of the phone, there was a thin black wire with a tiny coaxial like connector that I disconnected but couldn't for the life of me get it connected again. Could that wore be the problem?
Any tips on how to get it connected again? Is it supposed to snap in? Will I hear a click once its in place?
All help and suggestions appreciated, thanks

That is the line to the antenna. You are basically running without an antenna now. Connect it!
Basically, signal strength of GN is very weak.

Connect the antenna and yes you will feel a definite snap when it is seated properly.

So my note 2 has really really weak wifi signal, I am 20 ft from the router with only 1 wall between us and the wifi keeps timing out and sputtering.
I have turned off the power saving wifi and replaced the drivers with the ones from 4.1.1, I have tried numerous kernel and roms.
Is it time to open up the phone to look for a hardware fault?
Also screen sensitivity on the bottom right of the screen is terrible, trying to hit the back space key can be a nightmare at times

Found the wifi fix
I just figured out what the problem is, the wifi antennae in the case was buggered! I ordered a new back of the phone and replaced that and the wifi is fixed!!! I had a feeling that was the cause of the issue but I couldn't be sure till I replaced it. The wifi antennae is above the power button, with the back off you can see it as the long piece of plastic that is stuck in on the very edge. I had to buy a whole new back - it was only about $11 shipped. But it solved all my wifi problems.

I took the main part out of the chassis frame and found that the spring contact on the PCB (which is supposed to touch the wifi antenna on the chassis frame) wasn't springing up. I bent it up so it matched the profile of the other spring contacts and put it back in the chassis frame and all was well. My suspicion is your wifi antenna wasn't broken (it's just a bit of metal so there's nothing to break, really), just not quite touching the spring contact.
Same Problem

I,m experiencing the exact same problem. Wifi signal has gone extremely weak after a severe fall. Can u please tell me exactly which part to change.
Post a picture, or an amazon link to buy that part?
any help would be appreciated.
Hi everyone.
I wonder if anyone could be of some help please.
A couple of days ago I attempted to replace the digitiser of my One X due to it having a large scratch on the glass, I consulted various guides and followed them but unfortunately I couldn't carry out the repair as several pieces within the phone are heavily glued down (such as the battery so I aborted the repair and put everything back.
Wifi and bluetooth work just fine with no problems however my network reception has been cut in half, normally at home I can achieve between 4 or 5 bars signal, now however I only seem to get 1 or 2 bars and when I'm out I frequently lose reception.
I opened the phone again to examine the aerial (the thin wire that connects to two point down the side of the phone and I could see no obvious problem.
So my question is, have I potentially damaged the aerial? Or is it supposed to be connected in a special way such as connected the otherway around or does the wire need to be tense or relaxed? etc
Maybe there is another connection I need to check over?
If needed I can take a picture of how it looks currently.
Thanks in advance for any help.
I had this exact problem. you need to check the little black cable (to the right of the battery) is connected at both ends.
the top connects to the motherboard and the bottom conencts to the docking connector board.
Check the pop connectors on the boards are still intact. If u have buggered up the bottom as I did u can get a replacement for about 8 quid. if its the top then I guess u need to replace the motherboard which aint cheap!

please let me see a pic also mate
Ah it's ok now I've fixed it. I turned the aerial around and made sure it was as straight as possible. I did also notice that one of the gold plated connectors at the bottom were slightly bent down, so I carefully brought it back up.
Put it all back together and now I've got full signal again.
Thanks anyway pal

No worries mate, glad your almost fail was no where near as epic as my major fail! I had to spend all night figuring out wtf i had done then wait for 2 days for the spare part to arrive lol!!!!!
I still think I've somehow damaged it though, even though the signal is a lot better now, it's now where near as good as it used to be.
Makes me question whether or not I want to get another HTC phone when my contract is due though, servicing it is so hard and all that damn glue. I nearly ripped the wifi aerial thanks to all that glue.

are you sure the coaxial cable (the black wire directly to the right of the battery) is connected properly mate?

Absolutely, my signal is consistently higher now rather then changing between 3 to none (between 5 to 3 now).

hello!
Had my nexus 7 2013 WIFI for about a year. Its in a moko hard case. Yesterday it was dropped on carpet but from about 9 ft high, it continued to work. The next morning, it was power on but no display. once i plugged it in, display came on. battery was not discharged. by evening, no display at all. snowy screen once. the tablet boots up fully. ADM can locate and ring the device, it shows on my wifi router etc. But no display at all. the closest to display it came is showing the Google logo during boot up.
so it looks to me like the screen connector came loose.
EDIT: Ok, i opened the back case. Yes, it is the loose screen connector. if i press down on the gold ribbon connector, screen is on. now i got to figure out how to fix it.
can someone help me fix this?
Final edit: I fixed the display ribbon connector by inserting it into its connector firmly. everything is well.
thank you

Hey guys,
I have a problem with my OP3. I dropped it and it had a big dent on the back. So I decided to open it an try to press the dent back into shape.
After reassembling my Wifi and bluetooth are broken. I can get connections but the range is realy bad, about 5m for Wifi till it disconnects and about 5cm for Bluetooth.
I opened it a second time to take a look if i missed a connector or something and i saw a clip (those small things that connect to the back of the phone) was broken so i ordered a sparepart (it was the headphonejack circuit board) and changed it but its still not working.
Does anyone know where the bluetooth and wifi antenna are positioned ?
Have i just broke my phone or can i change something to get it back to work ? Everything else is working fine.
Thanks in advanced
Dennis
Same problem here! After I replaced the screen I lost my WiFi and bluetooth connections as well. WiFi is working in a range within 2m.
Is changing the coax antenna cable a solution?
Many thanks in advance from me as wel
Ken
Glad I'm not the only one, so maybe we get more help when more people have the same problem.
I changed the backplate cause of the dent and because the antenna is built in there but didn't change anything.
I have ordered a coax cable and will replace it when it arrives, could be today. Will post afterwards if this helped, but I'm not realy confident in that because i haven't done anything with this cable while repairing.
Maybe someone knows more about this, i just don't get why it is working but has no range, makes no sense to me ...
I have opened my phone several times now, but nothing seems to work.
Do you have an update on the coax cable yet? I hope it works, or the one plus 5 has to hurry ?
Hey there, same for me, opened it up to 10 times now but nothing helped, coax cable was a failure too. I realy don't know what it could be.
I'm about to wait for the OP5 or get a used 3(T) depending on what the . Was thinking about getting one with cracked screen and change everything but not sure if i should try it.
I have the same problem now. Any updates?
Hi guys! Yesterday I changed the camera of my OnePlus 3 because it wasn't focusing anymore, after reassembling my phone I noticed it wasn't connecting to the wifi anymore, tried Bluetooth and it was the same problem... I had to be really close for it to connect
Did any of you had any luck solving this problem? Did changing the board in the bottom of the phone not solve it? It seems that's where the WiFi is... Or maybe changing the backplate
Thanks in advance!

Hi, guys. I have the same problem. Did anyone find a solution?
I replaced my rear camera and the loudspeaker, at reboot wifi was not working. I noticed that if I'm near the access point network is detected but with very poor signal strength. Thanks.
Hi, maybe I could have found a possible reason to our lack of wifi and bluetooth signal.
Please look at this thread and give me your opinion. Probably your mainboard shows the same problem.

Sorry To Read You Received A Faulty Device..
There Are Zero Wi-Fi Issues With The A70 On A Mass Level.
You Should Begin The Process Of Obtaining A New Replacement Unit A.S.A.P.
Mine drops frequently to the point that it's frustrating. Check out my post about the screen and tell me if you have the same issues too. We might have the same versions of the device, which appear to be a bunch of faulty versions from the same batch.
I'm having an issue as well. My old phone can and able to detect and connect to my WiFi (which is quite distant tho) meanwhile my A70 can't, I have to get closer to the Wi-Fi in order for it to detect/connect to it but after that if I return to the other place when it doesn't pick it up, I'm able to maintain the connection. It's weird..

Here you go buddy
That Wifi Master app is unsupported by the A70 so I don't know why you'd recommend it here
wifi is definitely one of the worst thing on the a70...it drives me up the wall, and i am ready to sell my phone and never touch any samsung anymore because of this...i am not sure, but samsung is trying too hard to make some things "smarter" meaning if samsung thinks your wifi signal is bad it drops connection just like that...exclamation mark, lost connection, switch to data, are countless through the day...and samsung is playing dumb about this problem...
my wife is using lg and meizu on the same network and wifi is working perfectly fine 24/7...
same here. my friend is able to get a stable connection on the same network with a much older phone. However samsung won't do anything about it.

I can't see any app that you mention.
Can you kindly share its link here or pm me.
As my A70 also has weak wifi issue.
Can't see the wifi router downstairs when my old. Samsung note 4 can, laptop can
I'm having the same issue. Weak Wi-Fi signal in my A70. While my other phones are getting full signal. Is there any way to fix?
seems like some antenna problem. you can probably fix it by bridging antenna contacts with the pins on the motherboard with a lump of copper wire. Solder can also help.
to take itapart:
1) insert a thin piece of plastic( like a flexible plastic file) into the gap between the rear plastic and frame, and cut the adhesive, and peel away the rear plastic
2) remove the screws and sim tray
3)slide your finger nail into the gap between the rough plastic and the smooth plastic on the side rails. The rough plastic is the part that is touching the screen, and the smooth plastic is the side rails. The smooth plastic is of a different colour, and the rough plastic is black.
4 pull the side rails away, and examine the copper antenna contacts. you might want to replace the mid frame. If you still have warranty, bring it back to store
